Sam [00:00:08]:
Hello and welcome to episode 536 of the Chris and Sam podcast.

Chris [00:00:27]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:00:28]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fix of randomness, technology and life brought to you by. I don’t know what brings us this week, Chris. It’s.

Chris [00:00:37]:
I do, I reckon it’s those people that helped us out with field days gear. Yeah, maybe tell us about them.

Sam [00:00:45]:
That’s okay. I love how fluid you are with. I had a whole different intro in my head. But you’re good. You’re good. So basically we’ve just been to field days. You would heard last week’s episode. We recorded it there.

Sam [00:00:58]:
Interviews coming out soon. But in the lead up to that we thought we would splash out and we got some pens and some more bottle openers and people really like those pens. And that guy from China, I don’t know how he’s doing it, but anyway. But we also decided to upgrade the one and only T shirt that we owned. We had one each.

Chris [00:01:17]:
We had one each.

Sam [00:01:18]:
And we must have been rocking that for the last six years.

Chris [00:01:21]:
Five years.

Sam [00:01:22]:
Four or five years. And it was time to upgrade and we thought we’d get something else as well. So we’ve got some hoodies and you would have seen us wearing this GE in our social media posts. And it was all due to Marvin Smith Apparel. And this is Lisa and Andre. You can check them out at their website, Marvin Smith Apparel. We’ll have all the links in our show notes. Check them out on Instagram or Facebook as well.

Sam [00:01:46]:
And they’re pretty cool. Cause they’re in Helensville and they started off as a side hustle. So we quite like that in a basement and they had a little tiny printer and they’re helping out businesses and clubs and tradies. Not even two years later they’ve got a full retail store. Like you can go and visit them if you’re in Helensville, which is pretty cool. And they’ve got, you know, they’ve been doing this stuff with larger and bigger teams and people and companies and their social media showing you all the stuff. It’s pretty cool. And the thing that I like is that they can help out people with one or two items.

Sam [00:02:21]:
I don’t know about you because we.

Chris [00:02:23]:
Only wanted to get the two.

Sam [00:02:24]:
Well, there’s only two of us. Yeah. And I don’t know if I wanted to have a whole stockpile of stuff that may or may not sell.

Chris [00:02:32]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:02:33]:
But if you’re listening to this and you want a shirt hoodie or something with our logo on it, let us know and we can figure something out.

Chris [00:02:40]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:02:41]:
And we’ll do it for cost. Like, I’m okay with that. I don’t know about you, but in the past I’ve tried getting shirts done now. Do you remember? I’m sure you were with me. There was a. We went to Armageddon once and there was this random crowd there that were doing actual screen printing and they were selling really weird T shirts and it was just really bizarre stuff. And I spoke to them and they were like, oh, we. And I’m sure they were from Palmerston north.

Sam [00:03:10]:
And they said, oh, we can help you out with T shirts. And this was for giant pumpkins nz. And I just had T shirts for myself. And they’re like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we’ll do it. And I think it was like a minimum of five for screen printing, which is absolute bonkers. It’s such a small amount. No one would normally do that, but these guys did. I don’t know if they thought it was going to lead to something bigger, but after whatever, I tried contacting them again and they’re like, no.

Sam [00:03:37]:
Minimum’s either 10 or 20.

Chris [00:03:39]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:03:40]:
Anyway, that’s the biggest problem, I find as a small content creator, you can’t always just get one or two. And it’s a pain in the ass.

Chris [00:03:48]:
And the other thing I have to say is these prints, the quality of these prints is really good. Like, I don’t know whether they’re using a different ink or whatever from our old one.

Sam [00:03:58]:
Well, yes, I think they’re doing it better. They’re using dtf, which is direct to film. And this is how they can do one or two items because they’re printing it on this film and then they’re ironing it onto the shirt.

Chris [00:04:11]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:04:11]:
Now, the cool thing with Marvin Smith apparel, which I quite liked. If you only want the logo or words or whatever it is yourself, they will send you it printed on the film and then you iron it onto whatever you’ve got.

Chris [00:04:26]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sam [00:04:28]:
Or they can do the whole thing, which they did for us. And it’s just really good, like, good options. I think it’s good having that option because so many people would be like, no, we have to supply everything. We have to do it. But these guys have realized, I think, that, you know, you. You can do it yourself, which is cool. Their turnaround’s really, really fast. Like super quick.

Sam [00:04:51]:
Even shipping it down here was great. I didn’t have to worry about that. They like some morning supporting small businesses. We like that. So if you want some custom printed stuff, check out Marvin Smith apparel.

Chris [00:05:04]:
Cool. Let’s talk a little bit about field days. It was good. It was pretty wet. I don’t think it was any wetter than last year. Although I. Last year’s faded into memory.

Sam [00:05:16]:
Yeah, there was one year I’ve been. I don’t know if it was with us, but there’s one year I went there and it was absolute chaos.

Chris [00:05:22]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sam [00:05:23]:
So I remember that because one year I got stuck. The car got stuck.

Chris [00:05:26]:
Yeah, the turnout was pretty good. Despite the. Not fantastic.

Sam [00:05:31]:
110,000 people over four days is the official figures.

Chris [00:05:36]:
That’s not a high, is it?

Sam [00:05:38]:
No, I want to say they did a high of near 151 years.

Chris [00:05:43]:
That’s what I was going to think. That’s what I was thinking.

Sam [00:05:44]:
That’s what you’re thinking.

Chris [00:05:45]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, so we, we interviewed a bunch of people. Those interviews, as Sam said, will be coming out over the next few weeks. As Sam does all the work, gets around to doing it all. But just in general, I, I’ve got to mention the cybertruck because I thought this was hilarious.

Sam [00:06:01]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:06:02]:
So Sam went the Wednesday by himself to do a recce and then Thursday we both went and did some interviews. Thursday’s a good day for us because Wednesdays the, the, the exhibitors are still sitting up so they’re too busy to do anything. And Friday and Saturday is nuts. So Thursday’s the best day for interviews. That was our plan. And Sam went in on Wednesday and he took a photo of the cybertruck and I’m like, oh, we got to go in front of the cybertruck. So I went and being my normal self, I just grabbed some guy in a.

Sam [00:06:34]:
The rep. The Tesla rep.

Chris [00:06:36]:
The Tesla rep. And said, hey, take a photo of us. Put us in front of the truck. And so he did. And while he was taking his photos, he just started telling stories.

Sam [00:06:44]:
Yeah, it was pretty good.

Chris [00:06:45]:
It was pretty cool actually. So I want to hate the cyber truck. I pretty much do, I think. But yeah, it was funny because he goes, oh, this is, I think this is the only one in New Zealand. Yeah, it was coming out soon. It’s all about the getting the left hand drive thing.

Sam [00:07:01]:
Right hand, right hand drive for us.

Chris [00:07:02]:
Yeah, yeah. I mean for the left hand side of the road. And he. But he goes, yeah, no, I Picked up my girlfriend because we had to take it into somewhere or something. And I said, you’re gonna feel like a celebrity. She’s going, what are you talking about? And then he says, as they’re driving down the motorway, all the cars are coming up level with it and boxing it in because they’re all taking photos of it as it’s driving down the street. He goes, we’ve parked in this car park and people are doing circles around the car. Like, they go past and then come back around, have another look, and, yeah, just crazy.

Sam [00:07:38]:
It’s definitely a crazy vehicle. And if you didn’t realize how shoddily put together they are.

Chris [00:07:45]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:07:45]:
You might be like, yeah, I. I.

Chris [00:07:47]:
Think it might be worth it just for an advertising platform. Yeah, whatever business you’ve got.

Sam [00:07:53]:
Yeah, get it wrapped.

Chris [00:07:55]:
Yeah, get it wrapped with something or, you know, get some sort of painting on it somehow. And, yeah, that might be the only thing, but at the same time, there’s that negativity of it being an Elon Musk vehicle. So I’m like, I don’t know.

Sam [00:08:12]:
I think looking back after going to field days, I think we really needed to go for two days fully, because we were there the whole Wednesday, almost the whole day. Like, they were closing down, like, when we left.

Chris [00:08:23]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sam [00:08:24]:
And the reason I say that is because I’ve been seeing a whole bunch of other things. So if we’d gone into the Tesla tent, we would have seen the robot. Oh, no, the robot was standing there, wasn’t doing anything, but we would have seen that.

Chris [00:08:36]:
We could have got a photo with the robot.

Sam [00:08:38]:
Yes. The Tesla bot. I didn’t know that was there a big shout out. I got a feeling this year that there was a lot more people or businesses creating a lot of random content similar to what we were doing, but with video. So there was the Waikato sheds. They were going hard all four days. They were creating content all over the place, reviewing stuff. We.

Sam [00:09:00]:
I personally got mistaken for the guy.

Chris [00:09:02]:
Yeah, yeah.

Sam [00:09:03]:
When we were recording.

Chris [00:09:03]:
Oh, I’ve seen you on T. On. On. On the socials all day. And it was like, no, it’s not me, bro. I’m not. We’re not doing videos.

Sam [00:09:10]:
No. So, you know, and someone at work said, I walked in front of someone and they were doing. I don’t know if they were doing a podcast. And I was like, no, they would have been. They had the mic, but they were shooting video.

Chris [00:09:20]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:09:21]:
But also some of the big brands. Some of the big brands had people that were Just doing content all day every day because it’s simple now. Everyone’s doing it. So that was interesting. I don’t think AI was mentioned much anywhere in what I saw. Whereas I think last year there was a few bits and pieces.

Chris [00:09:38]:
There were a few little mentions of it, but yeah, not, not very much.

Sam [00:09:42]:
Not as much.

Chris [00:09:43]:
There were a couple of things in the innovation tent that mentioned it, but yeah, not, not really.

Sam [00:09:49]:
So there was that. I think we missed a couple of potential interviews. Just running out of time and things like that. Yeah, we didn’t see any of the Red Bull lawnmower thing. No, I completely forgot about that.

Chris [00:10:01]:
I forgot about that.

Sam [00:10:01]:
But I think like when you’re at field days, if, if you don’t have a list, I, I don’t know, maybe we had to utilize the app a bit more, which we didn’t.

Chris [00:10:12]:
We should have utilized Steve a bit more. Steve, if you’re listening to this next year, give us a rundown of people we should be talking to.

Sam [00:10:21]:
Oh, I think it’s. I think it’s just a time thing and maybe we, I think maybe we print an actual list.

Chris [00:10:27]:
Yeah. And two days makes sense. I’m not adverse to that.

Sam [00:10:31]:
So that was cool. I will give a shout out to the Groove app. I didn’t go back to talk to them. It was one of the ones we missed. G R O O V. It’s an app that has a partnership with John Kirwan’s foundation and New Zealand Mental Health. It’s quite a cool app. It’s free.

Sam [00:10:49]:
It helps you just get grounded during the day. There’s some sort of breathing exercises. It’s really cool implementation of that. There’s like white noise, background noise you can have. There’s little check ins and little things you can do to make your day a bit better. And I.

Chris [00:11:04]:
And they were at field days because I didn’t see that.

Sam [00:11:06]:
We didn’t go back to the mental health tent because we have time.

Chris [00:11:09]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:11:09]:
But that’s okay. And then one, one of the people we interviewed is just going hard on liking all our photos right now. I’m just getting all these notifications.

Chris [00:11:19]:
You keep looking at your watch because.

Sam [00:11:22]:
No, no, it shows me. Yeah. And just a quick shout out. We will have an interview with someone called Knuckles. Just. That was you.

Chris [00:11:31]:
You will look forward to the interview with Knuckles.

Sam [00:11:33]:
It was one of those things I wasn’t expecting and this is one of those, you know, you didn’t know that was going to happen. I just. He was doing this other thing. Jamie Oxley mentioned he sent me a message about that guy.

Chris [00:11:44]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:11:44]:
They were talking about him at his house and then randomly our photos popped up and they’re like, oh, and Jamie said that he sees his product in content in Australia. All the people doing podcasting in Australia has his hats.

Chris [00:12:01]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:12:01]:
And Jamie goes, I just turn it off. He just, he goes, I’m sure the guy’s real nice. I think his stories are great. He’s probably a great guy. But for whatever reason, he just like, I’m sick of it. Like, apparently it’s real intense.

Chris [00:12:11]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He, he is full on. Knuckles is full on.

Sam [00:12:16]:
He is, he is.

Chris [00:12:17]:
But it’s funny because one of us interviews and the other one takes photos. I could not stand by without interjecting in this.

Sam [00:12:24]:
I know, in this interview.

Chris [00:12:25]:
So, so Zen was interviewing and then I sort of like, give me the mic cassette. So I can’t remember what it said. But yeah.

Sam [00:12:31]:
So that’s it for the podcast. Little wrap up episodes come out soon. You’ll get them in your feed, on the website and wherever you listen to great podcasts because that’s where we’re found this week, actually today is my one year anniversary at this new job.

Chris [00:12:44]:
Woohoo.

Sam [00:12:46]:
It feels like I’ve been there forever. Like three. If you said I’d been there three years, I’d be like, yep. No, we’re going pretty good. I think I’ve just done a lot in a year.

Chris [00:12:57]:
Yep.

Sam [00:12:57]:
So been all over the place, done a whole bunch of stuff. Yeah, it’s pretty good.

Chris [00:13:01]:
So we’re gonna talk about the, you know, the burning question.

Sam [00:13:04]:
Which one?

Chris [00:13:05]:
Donald’s parade.

Sam [00:13:06]:
The one he fell asleep at.

Chris [00:13:08]:
Yeah, yeah. Actually there’s only one little thing I wanted to. Have you seen the video where there’s the old squeaky tanks just rolling down and you can hear his wheels squeak because there’s no noise. Because there’s no people.

Sam [00:13:23]:
No. I know. It’s so sad.

Chris [00:13:25]:
So sad.

Sam [00:13:26]:
And then he fell asleep.

Chris [00:13:26]:
And he fell asleep because it’s his 79th birthday. I mean, you know, and then I saw, if I can stay awake all day on my 79th birthday, I’ll be happy.

Sam [00:13:34]:
I saw a post where it’s like something like, who knew he’d still be sleeping next to what’s her face?

Chris [00:13:41]:
Melania.

Sam [00:13:41]:
Melania. All these at this age.

Chris [00:13:43]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But what cracked me up was, I’ve got it in here. An ad on Craigslist had been circulating offering a flat fee of $1,000 US paid in cryptocurrency to seat fillers in red hats and gold accessories for space maximization and attendance. So they were paying people of course they were to be there but and one of these Russia I think it was a rational, excuse me Ukrainian or something people were going. It makes me feel so good in my heart that Russia and North Korea force people there and America can’t even pay people to go there for their parades. That cracked me up.

Sam [00:14:33]:
It brings you so much joy.

Chris [00:14:34]:
It does, it does. So yeah. So I was quite pleased with that. And they somewhere between 5 million and 10 million people did the 2,200 no kings parades.

Sam [00:14:46]:
Oh yeah.

Chris [00:14:47]:
200 parades all around the country and yeah, low end estimates 5 million. High end 10 million. I don’t think it’s that much but yeah, probably five to eight.

Sam [00:14:58]:
Well there you go. Exciting times.

Chris [00:15:01]:
That was. I was looking forward to seeing what happened with that. It looked so dismal the parade.

Sam [00:15:06]:
What I said because it was.

Chris [00:15:07]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:15:08]:
Oh, did you see them marching? That was the thing I saw. There was a side by side. It was like I don’t know what the other country was.

Chris [00:15:14]:
Maybe North Korea.

Sam [00:15:15]:
North Korea or South Korea. Oh no, someone just normal country. And now just marching in formation doing the thing. And the Americans I they look sloppy ass. They were just dawdling along.

Chris [00:15:26]:
I’ve the high Ihip girls. I listen to I hip girls a lot. That’s so funny. I’ve had it podcast.

Sam [00:15:35]:
Okay.

Chris [00:15:35]:
I H I P. Yeah. And I watch them on YouTube but they mentioned that because one of them said I thought they looked a bit sloppy and then I realized I saw all these posts from people in the veterans who going no, they’re doing that on purpose. Oh never with that sloppy in parade. They’re doing it as a big fu because they don’t want to be there because they’re forced to be on parade. So yeah. Did you see this arm seizure down in the South Island?

Sam [00:16:05]:
I saw the headline and it was how many was. It was so many.

Chris [00:16:10]:
I’m opening up now from off the top of my head. It was 478 guns.

Sam [00:16:14]:
Yeah, that’s right. Almost 500 in gore. Was it?

Chris [00:16:17]:
Yeah, in Gore. And he only had he had license for two or something. Concerns about a man’s purchasing history led officers to go to his home in Gore on Friday six to serve a notice of temporary suspension an order allowing police to retain fire firearms, the license holder’s license and uplift any firearms in his possession. A total of 478 firearms of different descriptions were seized, including five pistols, some that may have been prohibited firearms and some that may have been restricted weapons which are a classification for which the men had no license. Significant quantities of ammunition and firearm parts were also recovered. What do you need? And the photos in here of the guns.

Sam [00:17:06]:
It’s a lot, eh? Like physically it, it’s huge.

Chris [00:17:09]:
It’s just huge frickin piles of guns. I don’t know if that’s in situ or that’s when they’ve got it back at the office, but yeah.

Sam [00:17:21]:
Oh no, it looks like back in the office but I wonder how many other people are out there like this guy that we just don’t know about. It’s a lot, eh?

Chris [00:17:29]:
And it’s. Yeah. And they weren’t secured?

Sam [00:17:32]:
No, of course they were.

Chris [00:17:33]:
They just lying safe with one.

Sam [00:17:35]:
No, no, it was. No.

Chris [00:17:37]:
If you’re only 469 safes, if you’re.

Sam [00:17:42]:
Only registered for a couple, you’re not going to have secure gun storage, guaranteed.

Chris [00:17:49]:
But yeah, it is a worry. You know how many other guns? Because I mean for our overseas listeners we’re not that used to having guns around here. I mean most country farmers will have a shotgun or something along those lines. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We all know people that have a hunting thing and some of us will maybe know somebody who does some target shooting either with a long gun or a pistol and that’s it. Have you ever, you’ve shot guns?

Sam [00:18:17]:
A. Yeah, only. Yeah, only 22s basically.

Chris [00:18:20]:
Yeah, 22s when I was a kid. Oh yeah, and yeah, that’s it. Yeah, yeah. So guns aren’t a big thing in New Zealand as a rule. So that, that’s sort of mental for us I think.

Sam [00:18:34]:
Have you seen this video of this assassination drone? Oh, so this guy on stage has this little tiny drone in his hand. It’s about the size of his hand. He throws it up and it uses AI to scan and find the target and then it just goes and slams into the face basically of the target and it’s got this little shock thing which must be like a bullet and it just goes straight into the skull and kills them.

Chris [00:19:04]:
Cool.

Sam [00:19:06]:
Here we go. So I don’t know, I don’t know if what this talk is from or why this guy’s demoing it, but you know this stuff already exists.

Chris [00:19:16]:
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sam [00:19:17]:
So.

Chris [00:19:18]:
Oh my God, that’s.

Sam [00:19:19]:
Unless he’s trying to sell it.

Chris [00:19:20]:
I’m sure he’s trying to sell the stuff. Yeah, yeah, because there was a. Sad to hear about the assassinations in Minnesota?

Sam [00:19:30]:
Yes. They finally caught the guy. Yeah, after he was wearing his realistic weirdo mask.

Chris [00:19:35]:
A white man.

Sam [00:19:37]:
Yep.

Chris [00:19:38]:
No doubt a voted for Trump. A preacher.

Sam [00:19:43]:
Oh, really? I didn’t know that.

Chris [00:19:44]:
Yeah, he was a preacher for a while. I’ve seen footage of his sermons. There is as batshit as you can.

Sam [00:19:52]:
Yeah, I was worried they might be normal. We can’t have that.

Chris [00:19:57]:
No, actually I wanted to talk about this dude that got doged, I think.

Sam [00:20:02]:
What does that mean, he got doged?

Chris [00:20:04]:
Well, you know what Doge is, right? The department of.

Sam [00:20:07]:
Oh, yeah, sorry, sorry. Yeah, yeah, sorry. I automatically thought of Dogecoin. Yeah, no, you’re right.

Chris [00:20:11]:
Okay, so this is a former Doge engineer and he. What made me interested in this thought it was worth sharing that he’s one of the founders of Gumroad.

Sam [00:20:25]:
Okay.

Chris [00:20:26]:
Yeah. So I think you told me about Gumroad first. Like I think I heard about Gumroad from you, which is an Australian marketplace I think is the digital products. Digital product marketplace. So it’s pretty well known. And he’s doing really well, obviously. So he’s over there and he’s doing some work with Elon. He goes, come and join us in this Doge thing.

Chris [00:20:48]:
So he goes, sure. And one of this guy’s. What was his name? This guy’s name’s Sahil. Sahil Lavinga. So Sahil says, oh yeah, cool, cool, cool. And he’s all about transparency. Sahil is. And he liked the whole idea and that was a big thing for him.

Chris [00:21:07]:
So he was doing an interview with some. Somebody I forget. Yeah, news, news interviews, view, whatever about Gumroad. It was about. Okay, so he’s doing this interview about Gumroad and they go, oh, so what are you doing, Doge? And he goes, oh, so how is that going? Yeah, and he goes, well. And he says in this thing, Elon was said we’re all about transparency. So I was transparent. And basically he said something along the lines of federal waste and fraud were relatively non existent.

Chris [00:21:38]:
Like I didn’t expect that. Yeah, like it’s one of the most efficient things I’ve ever seen. Is the government. Yeah, good, that’s good.

Sam [00:21:48]:
That’s what you want. That’s what we want.

Chris [00:21:50]:
Yeah. So what happened? He got dosed. He got fired because he was too transparent. And I just. They got so many levels that just. It’s so dumb. Like, oh my God, these guys so Poor bugger. But anyway, I just thought I’d share that because that just tickled me.

Sam [00:22:14]:
Very good. Boston Dynamics. They’ve got nothing better to do with their time playing with their robots. So this time they’ve gone America’s Got Talent with the robots. Did you see that?

Chris [00:22:24]:
I wasn’t that impressed, were you?

Sam [00:22:27]:
It was okay. I, I don’t know. It was time to music and then they moved around. I, you know. Yeah, I think. But like, it comes back to your average person doesn’t know anything. So for a lot of people, they would not have seen this.

Chris [00:22:43]:
They wouldn’t have seen one before.

Sam [00:22:45]:
At field days, the Tesla guy was like, people were coming up and go, what’s this? Who makes it? And there’s a huge Tesla sign above it.

Chris [00:22:52]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:22:52]:
So it was like. Yeah. People just don’t know what they don’t know. They live in their own little bubble.

Chris [00:22:57]:
True, true. And it was funny because one of them didn’t work. One of them went froze. Yeah, yeah. And then I think at the end it stood up and it started doing the routine because it had been programmed the routine. But then the others started doing things and I’m sure there were people in the background just tweaking with the remote. So I was not impressed.

Sam [00:23:17]:
Chris was not impressed. He wants to see better. I don’t even know if they’re going to come back in another round. Who cares? But, you know, if they are, they got voted.

Chris [00:23:26]:
They got four yeses. So.

Sam [00:23:29]:
But is it. It must have to be the same robot. Hey, like, they, if they. I reckon if they brought out the big ones, the humanoid ones, I reckon they would have freaked everyone out a bit too much, maybe. That would have been cool.

Chris [00:23:40]:
Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. Well, actually, if they do an ensemble with both next time, that’d be pretty good.

Sam [00:23:46]:
Yeah. I’m wondering if they can do that.

Chris [00:23:48]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:23:48]:
On a robots robot.

Chris [00:23:50]:
Just speaking of the States, actually, how comfortable would you be going to the World Cup? So the World cup is coming up soon and it’s going to be in Florida.

Sam [00:24:02]:
Okay.

Chris [00:24:03]:
And ICE has already said, you know, if you’re coming to America, make sure you take identification with you at all times. That’s what ICE is telling.

Sam [00:24:13]:
Oh, no.

Chris [00:24:14]:
So you don’t end up in elsewhere.

Sam [00:24:16]:
No, they’re just gonna.

Chris [00:24:19]:
Who’s gonna go? I’m not. Like, if you don’t know somebody playing, like, if you know somebody playing, you’re gonna go regardless. Right.

Sam [00:24:28]:
Why were the numbers down this year?

Chris [00:24:30]:
I don’t know. I, I. Even if I was a pretty good. I’m not a soccer fan, but if I was a football fan, Sorry, I probably wouldn’t Go not. Not to America. If I had the money and I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go anywhere but America for the Football World Cup, I think.

Sam [00:24:51]:
Yeah. No, it’s definitely a gamble. You might not be seen again.

Chris [00:24:55]:
I know. It’s just. Yeah, because they’ve. They’ve been talking about. Their tourism numbers are pretty dire right now.

Sam [00:25:02]:
Well, I mean, you’ve got a fortitude of amazing places to go that aren’t going to try and arrest you, so why would you go there and risk it 100%. So we’re going to start wrapping up this episode. I’m going to say. What have you got coming up? I have no idea. I’m going to be editing podcasts.

Chris [00:25:18]:
Yeah, we got Matariki. Oh, it’s just been.

Sam [00:25:24]:
He’s just realized how it works, the magic of the Internet. This isn’t live.

Chris [00:25:29]:
Yeah, no, this isn’t live.

Sam [00:25:30]:
Are you doing anything for it?

Chris [00:25:32]:
No, no, I’m just.

Sam [00:25:34]:
Yeah, I’m down in Taupo, so we’re recording this real early so I can get this sorted. And I thought they would have something down there. It looks like no Turangi does, which is 45 minutes south. So I don’t know if I’m going to be driving down there to check it out.

Chris [00:25:47]:
Toorang is quite a good place to go down to.

Sam [00:25:50]:
Oh, yeah, no, yeah, I know that. Yeah, yeah, totally. I just can’t. Don’t know if I can be bothered driving. Yeah, an hour and a half.

Chris [00:25:55]:
Find out if you’ve got a shuttle bus to a pub there.

Sam [00:25:58]:
Yeah, because that’s high on my list of things to do.

Chris [00:26:01]:
Oh, I’m just saying, if they got a. If they got a fireworks display or something down there, you can probably see it from the other side of the lake. Anyway.

Sam [00:26:08]:
I think it’s a laser show. Rotorua’s got the drone show. They’re doing two nights of a drone show.

Chris [00:26:13]:
Well, that’d be cool. I’ve never seen a live drone show.

Sam [00:26:15]:
They did it last year and apparently it was really good. They’re bringing it back. It’s bigger and better. There’s two nights of it. That should be pretty cool. And it’s a lot of drones, I think.

Chris [00:26:26]:
Yeah. I want to see.

Sam [00:26:27]:
And you know what we’re doing in Hamilton, they do this little food. Hamilton has a love affair with food trucks. They’re doing food trucks at the lake. I’m not sure if there’s fireworks, but there’s this food truck thing at the lake. And if you just want to Stand around waiting for some food to be cooked that’s very expensive with a whole bunch of people. We’ve got it for you. If you don’t want to do it outside, don’t worry. Sunday nights we can do it in the car park at Chartwell.

Chris [00:26:58]:
Yeah, Undercover, full of smoke. You’re real selling it.

Sam [00:27:04]:
You’re really selling it. I sometimes really wonder what is going on because yet again, it’s. When you see what other places are doing, it’s crazy. I don’t know.

Chris [00:27:15]:
I don’t know. We got some good things.

Sam [00:27:17]:
We do, we do.

Chris [00:27:17]:
But yeah, it would be interesting if they did the Night Night Glow with drones. One night, one year. That’d be cool.

Sam [00:27:26]:
I think our biggest problem is prob. Well, no, I was gonna say proximity to the airport, but it’s not because I was like Rotorua. No, Rotorua’s miles about the same distance away from the airport, if not closer. I don’t know what the answer is. I think it comes down to money and probably insurance because there’s a particular.

Chris [00:27:46]:
Helicopter route from the hospital to the other hospital.

Sam [00:27:50]:
That’s probably. That’s probably it.

Chris [00:27:52]:
But there’ll be a laneway for that and plus or off heights, if you’ve got a proper. If it’s a full on event, they can, you know, wave it and just make sure there’s no aircraft that day or. Or.

Sam [00:28:06]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe someone will probably, probably bring it to Hamilton. I don’t know. If not go to Rotorua, hopefully there’s some other cool stuff happening around the country. But this is the end of the podcast. Make sure to check out tcasp.com. i’m saving time, Chris. I’m not even saying the proper web address, just tcasp.com.

Sam [00:28:24]:
we’re trying to get our money’s worth out of that. Just use that for everything. Don’t look at the other one, but.

Chris [00:28:30]:
Check just links to the other one. It’s just easier, quicker to type it out.

Sam [00:28:34]:
That’s right. Tcasp. Sound like a crazy person screaming that at people. We should get some bumper stickers made with just that because I think people would be like, what’s that? We’ll put that on a future plan. Anyway, until next time. I’m Sam.

Chris [00:28:49]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:28:49]:
See ya.

Chris [00:28:50]:
Bye.
