Sam [00:00:10]:
Hello and welcome to episode 541 of the Chris and Sam Podcast.

Chris [00:00:26]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:00:26]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fix of randomness, technology and life and all that stuff wrapped into 30 minutes of pure audio. Joy.

Chris [00:00:34]:
Joy.

Sam [00:00:35]:
As I said. As I said that somebody just walked past your window and they heard me say that. I know they did. What have you been up to this week?

Chris [00:00:44]:
Okay, so I had a really good weekend with filming last weekend filming Matwa. So we were. Spent two days in Rotorua. We. I drove back overnight and stuff. But Saturday was frosty, so I didn’t really plan on that. It was absolutely frosty there, but beautiful day, almost too nice because the shadows move during the day. You know how that is.

Chris [00:01:12]:
And can. Can screw a little bit with your. Your filming, but it was good. So we had these stunt guys there and we had keely. She’s early mid 20s, I’m going to guess. And she was a stuntish. Really good. And Harms was really good as well.

Chris [00:01:31]:
He’s an older Mori guy. And, yeah, we got a lot done on Saturday. I was really impressed with pushing for it. Like, got to get to this weapons thing. Da, da, da, da, da. That was really good. I came home Saturday real, real happy. We went back on Sunday, and instead of going into the next part of the fighting and stuff, Sash took them back through fixing up everything that he felt was wrong in the first.

Sam [00:01:57]:
Good.

Chris [00:01:58]:
Which, I mean, I guess that was okay.

Sam [00:02:00]:
If you’ve got the time and the people, you have to do it, I guess.

Chris [00:02:03]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was okay. And then Adam had to go off to grab lunch and stuff, and then they’re working out their next fight.

Sam [00:02:14]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:02:14]:
And so by lunchtime, basically, we’ve made no progress because they’re still working out the next fight.

Sam [00:02:20]:
I find this hard to believe with the organizational skills that are on display.

Chris [00:02:27]:
Yeah, I don’t know. I was. I was feeling a little disappointed. I think I messaged you at that point.

Sam [00:02:32]:
You did.

Chris [00:02:33]:
I got a message and I was like, oh, my God. Because we’d done so well the day before. And then what worried me was it was like, okay, after lunch, we’ll start fighting this. This fight sequence. We’ll do this sequence. I’m like, yeah. Oh. But that’s not the final sequence.

Chris [00:02:50]:
There’s another fight sequence. We’ve also got a choreograph and I sort of Went, oh, so we’re coming back tomorrow. That went down like a lead balloon. The only person laughing and smiling about that was Adam.

Sam [00:03:02]:
Yep, good.

Chris [00:03:03]:
Standing behind people. So that was cool. But no, we got it all done. I was pretty pleased we got everything done. It was a little bit rushed at the end and they have decided. I’ve just found out like a minute before we started recording this podcast, which I’m really not happy about, is that they are fixing those up on Saturday now, they were going to fix those up on Sunday and we had another thing filming on Saturday in Hamilton, but they’ve decided after a hour meeting saying otherwise last night. They’ve decided this morning, or one person’s decided with no consultation, it sounds like, to switch those over. So that’s what we’re doing anyway, That’ll be cool.

Chris [00:03:50]:
So by the time this. When this comes out, Sam and I, because I haven’t asked Sam yet. Sam and I will be at this film set. Sam shaking his head. Sam’s table and I. We need to borrow your table for this film. You’ve got that trestle table?

Sam [00:04:09]:
Yeah, I got.

Chris [00:04:10]:
Yeah, Yeah, I want to borrow that. Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to. And lots of work.

Sam [00:04:18]:
Yeah, work. I think that’s all I’ve had. Work.

Chris [00:04:21]:
And skinning my knuckles at karate. Yeah.

Sam [00:04:24]:
Oh, wow. Yeah, that’s not fun. Yeah, not fun at all.

Chris [00:04:27]:
Oh, and my tooth thing.

Sam [00:04:30]:
So you did talk about last week.

Chris [00:04:32]:
Yeah. You’d had it done, so it got infected.

Sam [00:04:34]:
Oh, no.

Chris [00:04:35]:
So I’ve been on antibiotics this week, so it’s way better now. But early this week was not a happy Chris.

Sam [00:04:42]:
And the coffee that people said you should have didn’t fix that.

Chris [00:04:45]:
No.

Sam [00:04:46]:
Oh, no, no.

Chris [00:04:47]:
My face was swollen up a bit and stuff. But I’m much better now and I’m still on the antibiotics.

Sam [00:04:51]:
Oh, okay. Yeah, Very good. Hey, I don’t know if this is a new thing or the algorithms like advertising things to me, but I’m getting like pre Kickstarter campaigns now, so it’s not quite on Kickstarter yet. So I can’t get you to guess a price. I can’t get you to do any of that stuff. But I thought they were interesting. So I’m going to talk about them because I will forget. The first one is this battery sorter thing that I keep seeing.

Sam [00:05:18]:
And it’s like a. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s like a small kitchen appliance. Yeah, I guess. And it’s made by. It’s called the O Station 2 series. It’s the next gen of first three in one battery hub. Basically you can just tip in AA’s and AAA’s and I think it can do 12 of each.

Sam [00:05:41]:
And it charges up all the batteries and it doesn’t matter which way they go in. It’ll reorient it.

Chris [00:05:46]:
Pour them in the hopper?

Sam [00:05:47]:
Yeah, you pour them in the hopper. It gives you battery health on the screen of what it thinks the batteries are. And then anything that’s half dead, it just drops it out the bottom into a tray.

Chris [00:05:58]:
So this is only for rechargeable batteries?

Sam [00:06:00]:
Yeah, yeah, yep, yep. So it’s sort of got this mechanism here that moves them around and stuff. Now I think this crowd off memory, I’m sure Olight is the company, I think they make flashlights and rechargeable batteries. So this thing’s coming. So if you’ve got a lot of batteries that you need charged at all times and you just want to grab some ready to go and have a machine work out if they’re dead or not, this could be for you. I’m going to guess it’s probably a silly price.

Chris [00:06:30]:
It’s going to be a silly price, I would think.

Sam [00:06:32]:
We’ll see.

Chris [00:06:32]:
But I could see it being quite useful for very specific roles and jobs, you know.

Sam [00:06:38]:
Yeah. If you’re going through a ton of rechargeable batteries in general.

Chris [00:06:41]:
Yeah. If you’ve got those old walkie talkies that actually take batteries or whatever.

Sam [00:06:48]:
So there’s that one and then there’s another one and it’s called the. The mana sinus.

Chris [00:06:54]:
Oh yeah, what a name. Manusinus.

Sam [00:06:59]:
So it’s M A N Y a cynus. Anyway, that’s what I’m gonna call it. I didn’t watch the video, but it’s coming soon. What do you think it is with a name like that? And I’m gonna say it’s sort of got tech involved in it.

Chris [00:07:15]:
No idea. I like. I can’t even imagine.

Sam [00:07:18]:
It’s your portable AI chess robot. So it’s a fold out chess board and you put the pieces on there and then there’s a little robot arm with a camera on the end of it and it’s got a magnet on the end and you stick it to the side of the board and it can scan the board and you can play against it and it can teach you to play chess and it can remember the previous game. So if you need to pack it up, you just go, I gotta pack it up. And it goes. Okay. And. Yeah, I don’t think that’s gonna be cheap.

Chris [00:07:51]:
Yeah. So I saw one on Facebook this morning. Oh, no, it’d be last night when I was trying to work out all this stuff for. For the filming this weekend.

Sam [00:08:01]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:08:02]:
And it was an ad. I can’t remember what the little product was called, but it was a little pendant that you wear.

Sam [00:08:10]:
Okay.

Chris [00:08:10]:
That has a mic in it and it’s. And it just transcribes everything you say during the day. So you wear it in the. So it’s like the Litterly app that we both use and love, but it’s a device, so you just plug it into the usb. There’s a USB hole in the back to plug it into computer run the software and it.

Sam [00:08:35]:
So Amazon’s just brought a company that does something similar to that. Because listening to us on our phones isn’t enough. Or using the Amazon Echo products. No, seriously. They said like, apart from advertising and that they were like, they think Amazon wants that to get more real life data for even more in depth AI training.

Chris [00:09:00]:
Yeah. Because that’s what X is, right?

Sam [00:09:05]:
Yeah. I mean, it’s. With Gro. That’s what’s going.

Chris [00:09:07]:
Yeah. The whole point of X now because he. He paid way too much for it. He realized it’s got no value except as an AI training machine. And it’s a brilliant training machine because it turned Grok into Mecca Hitler, which, you know is. Because it’s been trained on X.

Sam [00:09:29]:
I think I saw somewhere that it was toned down as well.

Chris [00:09:34]:
Although he. He’d made some tweaks that made that happen because it came out with some woke stuff.

Sam [00:09:42]:
Oh, yeah.

Chris [00:09:42]:
And he went, oh, no, I’m gonna dewoke this. And next day it was Mecca.

Sam [00:09:47]:
Can you imagine him losing the plot on his. Him mean. Hi. Just. Oh, no, no.

Chris [00:09:52]:
Oh my gosh.

Sam [00:09:54]:
Have you been watching? Do you know what the Coldplay kiss cam thing is?

Chris [00:09:58]:
Yes, yes, yes.

Sam [00:09:59]:
It’s the best thing that’s happened in a long time.

Chris [00:10:02]:
Lots of people laughing about that.

Sam [00:10:03]:
I don’t care that they got caught because sure broke up two families. Whatever. They’re idiots. There’s. But it’s just the memes. Every single. It. It’s crossed every boundary from movies to TV to products to.

Sam [00:10:19]:
You name it, everybody’s used it.

Chris [00:10:21]:
So Rachel went down to Wellington this week to watch Wrexham play.

Sam [00:10:28]:
Oh, yeah.

Chris [00:10:29]:
So Wrexham, game over. Yeah.

Sam [00:10:30]:
Oh, right, yeah.

Chris [00:10:31]:
So she’s a big soccer fan, obviously. So she goes, it was a pretty shit match. She said, but you know like she’s glad she went and stuff. It was the most amazing match. But the funniest thing was when they put the cam on people in the audience, everybody. He was mimicking that whole thing all night long. And then one person maybe had a sign that said, this is my wife.

Sam [00:10:58]:
Anyway, it just keeps on going. I’m all for it. I like that there was people going, this is what you could have done. Alternatively, instead of like freaking out diving, you pretend they’re choking.

Chris [00:11:09]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:11:09]:
And all the. But I honestly, if you just stood there, nothing would have really happened.

Chris [00:11:15]:
Yeah. And I heard somebody, I think it was Prof. G. Basically said, you know, if it was a more blue collar couple or if it was a black couple, nobody would have cared. But because they’re rich white people, it’s like everybody’s like, screw you guys.

Sam [00:11:34]:
That’s right. That’s right.

Chris [00:11:36]:
I did like his take where he said, can you imagine though, put yourself in that guy’s wife’s shoes where you. You watching TV and. Or scrolling the Internet and that pops up and that’s how you find out that he likes Coldplay.

Sam [00:11:54]:
That’s right. So she’s. She’s at some resort I think at the moment, hiding up the kids. And I think she opened up her comments on Facebook. So it was just like a big ass free for all. Which is great.

Chris [00:12:07]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because she is married to another. To the CEO of a different company.

Sam [00:12:14]:
All right. That’s right. Excellent.

Chris [00:12:16]:
Anyway, on those sort of world things happening.

Sam [00:12:20]:
Yes.

Chris [00:12:21]:
What did you think about the thing about Colbert? The Late show is being cancelled.

Sam [00:12:29]:
Yeah. So out of all the late shows in America. Not my favorite one. That’s okay. Good guy.

Chris [00:12:37]:
Basically, what is your favorite one? Just by the.

Sam [00:12:40]:
I like Seth Meyers.

Chris [00:12:42]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:12:43]:
I find him funnier to me.

Chris [00:12:44]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sam [00:12:45]:
But it’s only that clip of a closer look.

Chris [00:12:47]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:12:48]:
Not probably the whole. I’ve never seen the whole show of that. And also.

Chris [00:12:54]:
John Oliver.

Sam [00:12:55]:
John Oliver, that’s it.

Chris [00:12:56]:
John Oliver’s different because it’s a once a week thing. Yeah, totally. And I think a lot of those night late night shows might end up going that way. It’s the cost thing. But we’ll talk about that in a sec.

Sam [00:13:08]:
So, okay, so basically they’ve decided to cancel it. But they’ve given them 10 months notice is what I know it’s to do with it was costing him what, $40 million a year and they were losing money.

Chris [00:13:21]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:13:21]:
But something to a 16 million.

Chris [00:13:24]:
Okay, I’ll give you. Give me the backstory, it cost him 100 million a year to make that show, but they bring in 60 million. So they’re making a 40 million loss, right?

Sam [00:13:33]:
Oh, yep. Cool.

Chris [00:13:34]:
200 people work on that show, plus they’ve got the Ed Sullivan Theater, which I imagine cost them a crapload of money.

Sam [00:13:42]:
Yep.

Chris [00:13:43]:
And all that. So it’s an expensive endeavor. It’s what I’m saying. But the Late show is the highest rated. Rated show.

Sam [00:13:52]:
Yeah, that’s right. That’s right.

Chris [00:13:54]:
It’s by far the highest rated show, most popular. So saying that it’s losing money is true. There are different things you could do. So Seth Meyers recently got put re. Signed up for another four years.

Sam [00:14:11]:
All right.

Chris [00:14:11]:
But he had to lose his band.

Sam [00:14:13]:
Oh, okay.

Chris [00:14:14]:
Because they just didn’t have the money for it.

Sam [00:14:16]:
Right.

Chris [00:14:16]:
So all of them. Because. Because the advertisers are going down with all of them. And Fallon has more advertisers, I think, than Colbert because Colbert has been too political. And people. Advertisers get away from that. So, yeah, so there’s a bunch of stuff like that. And yeah, so I think it’s not really.

Chris [00:14:36]:
It is political. The $16 million is that Paramount paid Trump $16 million payout for some stupid, ridiculous lawsuit that everybody said, oh, that’s not even a real thing. You should. All the lawyers said, you know, we can get it thrown out of court. But they’re like, oh, but if we get it thrown out of court, he will block our merger and we’re selling the company for 8 billion. So 16 million to Trump or $8 billion in our pocket. I will just pay that 16 million. And two days before it got canceled, before that was announced, Colbert gave them crap about it.

Sam [00:15:19]:
Yeah, yeah.

Chris [00:15:20]:
And that’s. So everybody’s gone. Oh, that’s why. But it really is a. It probably is a cost issue. I mean, the politics plays into it. Plus also, like with any sale. Yeah, they.

Chris [00:15:32]:
They’re not going to let the new guy come in and then get rid of Colbert. The new guy is going to go before you sell. Get rid of the deadwood.

Sam [00:15:40]:
Get of rid.

Chris [00:15:41]:
Cause we don’t want to have on our first day going, oh, you’re fired, you’re fired, you’re fired. You do that before we get here. Clean up your mess. So that’s all.

Sam [00:15:49]:
So it’ll be interesting to see how it goes. David Letterman’s come out quite hard and fast real quick, which is great.

Chris [00:15:54]:
John Oliver. John. Well, David, John Stewart. I mean.

Sam [00:15:57]:
Yes. So all the four or five of the other late night hosts actually went there in the audience. Yeah, but David Letterman’s real. Cause that’s his old show, that’s his old theater. Three years it’s been going and they screwed him over. And with Conan o’ Brien, with the Leno thing and yeah, so he’s pulled together all these clips of all the times he’s been talking bad about cbsa.

Chris [00:16:17]:
Yeah, cbsa.

Sam [00:16:18]:
And they even got it wrong once they put up the wrong slide when they were talking about it. He goes, you don’t even know who the host is, what’s going on.

Chris [00:16:26]:
So, yeah, I saw some of that. I didn’t see the whole thing. I saw somebody talking about. Yeah, no, it’s interesting. I think it’s gonna change. They’re all gonna go to podcasting because. Oh yeah, our budget is way less than the hundred million dollars it cost Colbert listeners, you’ll be surprised to know.

Sam [00:16:45]:
No, not at all. But that’s the thing. They’ve already got an automatic audience. That’s why these celebrities are doing it. Amy Poehler’s podcast is really good. It’s only just come out recently. Seth Meyers is doing a podcast with the Lonely island guys that’s freaking climbed the charts. Yeah, it’s crazy.

Chris [00:17:03]:
And the name’s just blanked on me. Who are the other guys? The three actors, Batman, actor, podcast, Jason.

Sam [00:17:09]:
Bateman, Will Arnett, and the other guy. And Smartless.

Chris [00:17:13]:
Smartless, that’s one. I do listen to that. I’m just like, I’m trying to think what it was it called. Yeah, so Smartless, like that’s, that’s a powerhouse of a thing. So yeah, Colbert will be fine, but he’s 200 people working for him.

Sam [00:17:26]:
That’s a lot.

Chris [00:17:27]:
Yeah, he’s not going to take 200 to a podcast. He’s going to take 10, 20 if.

Sam [00:17:33]:
That, because he’ll get podcast professionals in. I don’t know how easy it is to transition. Actually talking about podcasts, if you want to read about creating one, there’s a really good book I read called Make Noise.

Chris [00:17:46]:
Really?

Sam [00:17:47]:
Yeah, yeah, it’s great. I can’t remember what the guy’s name is off the top of my head, but it’s called Make Noise. And he has set up some of the biggest podcasts in the world and he’s worked a lot with npr, worked for them, done some amazing stuff and it’s a really good read. And we’re doing everything wrong here at the Christmas Hand podcast, but don’t let that stop us doing this.

Chris [00:18:08]:
Yeah, because NPR and. And pbs, public broadcast service of. Of America have all had their funding cut.

Sam [00:18:15]:
A. Okay.

Chris [00:18:16]:
All right. So did you hear about the fire festival rights?

Sam [00:18:20]:
Yeah, he sold.

Chris [00:18:22]:
You’re out of luck. You can’t get them. He sold them.

Sam [00:18:24]:
Who would buy them for. Was it 260,000 or something stupid?

Chris [00:18:28]:
Yeah, something like that.

Sam [00:18:28]:
Quarter of a million.

Chris [00:18:29]:
Just under 300, I thought.

Sam [00:18:30]:
Yeah, okay.

Chris [00:18:31]:
Like from. But he did it on 245,000.

Sam [00:18:35]:
Was this the plan all along? I don’t know.

Chris [00:18:37]:
On ebay.

Sam [00:18:38]:
Yeah. Good, good. Ebay would have taken their fee out of that. If you haven’t seen the doco about Fyre festival, the first one and just how batshit that was, go find that.

Chris [00:18:48]:
Yeah, there’s two docos and I recommend watching both of them because I binge both of them one after the other because they’re slightly different angles. But yeah, it’s a good story.

Sam [00:18:58]:
He’s just a. He. He’s going to make another festival in a minute probably because he’s a bit of a scammer.

Chris [00:19:03]:
Oh God. Anyway, it just cracked me up that. And we spent a bit of time talking about him. Actually this came up on the hello, Hamilton thing today and I. I thought it was funny. It’s the cat video fest. Have you heard of this?

Sam [00:19:22]:
No. What’s happening? Is it happening here in Hamilton?

Chris [00:19:24]:
Yes, I think it’s nationwide but it’s in Hamilton for a week.

Sam [00:19:28]:
Okay.

Chris [00:19:29]:
And it’s at the event cinemas. So it’s an event cinemas thing. So this is our chartwell and you can go and pay to go and watch cat videos on.

Sam [00:19:40]:
When you say cat videos, are they just like YouTube social media clips or is it filmed? Cat. What is it? Do you know?

Chris [00:19:48]:
Yes, I do. And. And how had it last time when I was on here it had a big explanation which was about to read out and now it’s got no freaking.

Sam [00:19:56]:
This happens all the time to us. It’s not our fault. How long does it go for? How long’s the session? I’m judging. And how much is it is a normal movie price?

Chris [00:20:08]:
It’s $12.

Sam [00:20:10]:
Okay. So the price is good.

Chris [00:20:12]:
And the part of that goes to cat based charities in the area.

Sam [00:20:19]:
Okay, cool. Yeah, yeah, good, good.

Chris [00:20:22]:
Second and third of August.

Sam [00:20:24]:
Okay.

Chris [00:20:24]:
It is for us here. But these are cat videos that have been submitted. Now there was a big.

Sam [00:20:32]:
What does that mean to read?

Chris [00:20:34]:
And I cannot find it. Why is it not showing me?

Sam [00:20:36]:
So are they movies that people have created with cats or is it just the home video of someone going, there’s my cat. We’ll never know.

Chris [00:20:45]:
We will never know.

Sam [00:20:46]:
Cause he’s smashing at his phone with his finger and nothing’s happening.

Chris [00:20:49]:
Stupid.

Sam [00:20:51]:
What does it say? Do you. Does it.

Chris [00:20:52]:
It says nothing. It says release date. Runtime is 74 minutes.

Sam [00:20:56]:
74 minutes. Okay, 74 minutes of cats for 12 bucks. I think my work colleague would really like this.

Chris [00:21:03]:
So that was the funny thing. I shared it because Carl is big on his cats. So I mentioned it in the. In group. Cat.

Sam [00:21:11]:
Yes.

Chris [00:21:11]:
Chat. And somebody go. Mel said to me, is this a real thing? Because I copied the thing. And I said, yeah, apparently not my sort of thing. But apparently it is. And Lana went, I’ve already shared that link to eight other people. I was like, oh, really? So it’s a thing for people? And I was like. Because that’s why I wanted to bring it up.

Chris [00:21:32]:
It was like, would you ever go? It’s not something I would attend.

Sam [00:21:37]:
No, I wouldn’t go to that. No.

Chris [00:21:39]:
I couldn’t imagine sitting in the Cinema for over 74 minutes.

Sam [00:21:44]:
No, I. If there was a short film with a cat in it at a film festival, that’s fine. But I. And I think, no, no. I’m just trying to think. I wouldn’t even. I’m not really fan of watching multiple same genre stuff back to back. So no, I’m out.

Sam [00:22:06]:
This guy in New York, I think it was. Yep. He had a real life Final Destination moment.

Chris [00:22:15]:
Ooh.

Sam [00:22:15]:
His wife was getting an mri. She yelled out for his help for some reason, I don’t know why. And he runs in and he has got his nine kilo metal training weight around his neck. As you do, you just wear it everywhere, you know, like, what the heck? Have you seen that? The rock has one. It’s just this huge chain. It’s nine kilos. You just wear it. It’s like a weight vest basically.

Sam [00:22:38]:
But it’s a chain.

Chris [00:22:39]:
She was getting an mri.

Sam [00:22:41]:
He. She was. He was outside.

Chris [00:22:43]:
He went running in with a chain.

Sam [00:22:45]:
Anyway, he was 61 years old.

Chris [00:22:47]:
Oh my God.

Sam [00:22:48]:
What? He’s probably buff ass. Don’t worry about it. Anyway, hang on, don’t. You don’t know what happened.

Chris [00:22:55]:
I’m okay. I remember he got sucked into the.

Sam [00:22:59]:
Machine and then he had a medical episode.

Chris [00:23:03]:
I’m not freaking surprised. I’m just thinking. So you’ve got to be so careful with. The magnetic resonance machine has magnets in it. Surprise, surprise. Very strong ones. And you shouldn’t have metal things and running in with a huge chain it’s only nine kilos.

Sam [00:23:23]:
What are you on about?

Chris [00:23:25]:
Nine kilos of chain around your neck? I can’t think of anything dumber. Like what?

Sam [00:23:31]:
What a. But he had a medical episode.

Chris [00:23:33]:
But he’s 61.

Sam [00:23:35]:
I wonder what the philosopy was cuz that actually happened. In the latest Final Destination movie, these people get sucked into the MRI machine.

Chris [00:23:44]:
Oh, really?

Sam [00:23:45]:
Yes. That’s what’s so funny about it. I mean, I’m sure his medical thing was him slamming into the machine and.

Chris [00:23:51]:
Having a heart attack or.

Sam [00:23:53]:
Yeah, either that or his head got smash. I don’t know. But I.

Chris [00:23:57]:
When you say it’s a medical. Because it’s.

Sam [00:23:59]:
Yeah, it must be.

Chris [00:24:00]:
It sounds like an internal issue rather than a. An injury. An injury. If it was an injury, they’d say they suffered an injury. But if they suffered a.

Sam [00:24:08]:
You are correct, because it did say that he had a heart condition and he’d had several heart attacks in the past.

Chris [00:24:15]:
So maybe, I mean, that’s why he had the chains. Well, well, no, because he probably was like, I, I’ve been a good Christian my whole life and God’s going to bring me up to heaven, but if I wear enough chains, he won’t let me die because he’ll keep my soul down here.

Sam [00:24:29]:
I think it’s just one. Yeah, one chain. So. And then there’s been a couple of cyber attacks that have been happening around the world and one of them is 158-year-old company in the UK.

Chris [00:24:45]:
Okay.

Sam [00:24:46]:
There’s 700 people working there and an employee’s weak password was hacked and they basically encrypted everything and asked for an unpayable sum. They go, we got no money. So they just shut the business down. They couldn’t do anything.

Chris [00:25:04]:
So yeah, thanks, Bert.

Sam [00:25:10]:
Yeah, I know, I know.

Chris [00:25:11]:
Use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 as your password, Bert. We’ve all lost our job because of you, Bert.

Sam [00:25:18]:
So, I mean, I think it’s up to. The hackers have picked a bad target. They didn’t do it. But talking about other hackers, there’s a lawsuit going on at the moment with Clorox the Cleaner. And they were one of several major Companies hit in 2023 by a hacking group that calls themselves Scattered Spider. I hope they’ve got a great like gang sign or something. I’m not sure.

Chris [00:25:43]:
It probably means. It probably sounds way tougher in a different language. Yeah, it sounds pretty gay in English. Just saying, guys. Yeah, so don’t hack me.

Sam [00:25:55]:
So Clorox is suing the IT provider Cognizant, because they were the ones that let it go. Now, they did get passwords from employees and stuff. How do you think they got it?

Chris [00:26:12]:
How did you think they got into the system?

Sam [00:26:15]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:26:16]:
Oh, it’d be a phishing email.

Sam [00:26:18]:
No, they just asked for them. They rang up the help desk and just said, hey, I forgot my credentials. This is my name. What are they? I’m like, here you go. Like, sweet.

Chris [00:26:28]:
Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

Sam [00:26:31]:
They had no systems in place to verify who they were talking to.

Chris [00:26:35]:
So, hang on. Who did that?

Sam [00:26:36]:
The hackers rang up the help desk and goes, no.

Chris [00:26:38]:
Yeah, you know, but who’s the help desk? The business or the cos?

Sam [00:26:41]:
No, the IT provider.

Chris [00:26:43]:
The IT provider.

Sam [00:26:44]:
Cognizant.

Chris [00:26:45]:
Oh, no.

Sam [00:26:46]:
They rang up and says, I don’t have a password. I can’t connect. And the agent goes, oh, okay. Here’s your password. You’re all good. Sweet. It caused $380 million in damages.

Chris [00:26:58]:
Yeah, they’re screwed. That’s terrible. I thought it was the client’s help desk that did that.

Sam [00:27:04]:
I can imagine that happening, though. Easy could be doing that here.

Chris [00:27:07]:
Well, no, we had pretty strict things that we had to do in telecom, and that was just talking to customers with their billing. We couldn’t answer any questions until they answered specific questions.

Sam [00:27:21]:
No, that makes sense.

Chris [00:27:22]:
That makes sense. You’d think an IT provider would have at least that level of. Of structure around their stuff. Maybe a new app. You love new apps. Could help Disney lovers find their happily ever after. Okay, the app is called Single Riders, and it’s designed for people who share a mutual passion for theme parks.

Sam [00:27:47]:
Good.

Chris [00:27:48]:
So one of the founders of the app teased the concept, invited Disney fans to get involved. Has the founder at Joe the bearded nerd on TikTok.

Sam [00:27:59]:
I. You can trust. You can trust someone with a name like that.

Chris [00:28:07]:
The Bearded Nerd.

Sam [00:28:09]:
Okay.

Chris [00:28:10]:
He explained on his social media post the idea came after he stood up on a date. I wonder why, Mate, I did what any other Orlando local does and I went to Disneyland. He said, lurked. Yeah. And that’s where I realized we needed a Disney dating app. So, anyway, I’ve got. I had questions just looking at this.

Sam [00:28:34]:
I’m like, so did you get answers?

Chris [00:28:36]:
No, I’m just like, so is he going to ask Disney for any permission to do this? Nope. Yeah, I guess if he says it’s for theme parks parks and just calls it Single Rider, it’s all good.

Sam [00:28:50]:
There is a person that works at work that I deal with occasionally, not in my team. That is Disney Die hard, apparently. And I think once or twice a year she goes there and I’m wondering if she’s gonna sign up to this app. I don’t know.

Chris [00:29:04]:
Yeah. Cause I have one friend I used to work with years and years and years ago, and he had Mickey Mouse everything. Like the Mickey thing. I don’t think he’s gone that many times, but he’s definitely gone a bunch.

Sam [00:29:18]:
Okay.

Chris [00:29:19]:
And taken his kids. Yeah. So. And finally he goes. I go to the parks alone, and it’d be awesome to have a feature that shows if other singles are at the parks at the same time. Oh, that was a comment from some chick. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Right?

Sam [00:29:34]:
That’s a creepy stalker.

Chris [00:29:35]:
Yeah, yeah. No, I think Bearded Joe just logged on with another.

Sam [00:29:41]:
Oh, yeah, he’s there. So anyway, that amazing app. Go find it or find that dude. I’m not sure. Brings us to the end of the podcast. And until next week, I’m Sam.

Chris [00:29:54]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:29:55]:
See ya.

Chris [00:29:55]:
Bye. Hope you enjoyed the show. Make sure to subscribe and catch you next week. Don’t forget what to tell your friend.
