Okay, I’m at the Alpine buildings, building, I guess with Rogan and Lali, and we’re going to find out a little bit about what they do here. It’s quite a big structure, huge posts and lots of steel. So, Rogan, what’s Alpine buildings all about?

Yes, so we do a lot of agricultural and lifestyle buildings, well established company, and coming to the field days is a great chance for us to meet new customers and yes, the existing ones as well, that come along and we look forward to seeing how the next couple of days go.

Okay, I’ve got a random question for you. This is quite a structure. Did you leave this up from last time? Would you say, have to put this up every year when you’re doing the field days? And if so, how long does it take to put this up?
Rogan [00:01:11]:
Yeah, good question. So we put this one up for the show and it took the guys about a week and a half, so not actually that long.
Chris [00:01:18]:
I was just going to say, damn, that’s pretty good.
Rogan [00:01:21]:
And yes, we do it because it gives people a good idea of size and space and they can visualize what they may want. And the shed is already sold to a client of Palmerson North, so I’ll be coming down after the event and we’ll see what we do next year as well.

Right, so I was going to say, so you would always try and sell something and then transport it after Trek?
Rogan [00:01:45]:
Yep. We’d like to get a shed up and yeah, really show what the company does and the product we offer.
Chris [00:01:50]:
And so are these things built to spec or is it a standard thing that you have?
Rogan [00:01:58]:
It’s a combination of both. We have a standard designs or widths of truss and bay width, and then we do a lot of customizations to suit whether it’s size, height, suit, your equipment, et cetera.
Chris [00:02:12]:
Yeah. Whether it’s open walls or sectioned off and all that sort of thing. Cool, that makes sense. What is the biggest sort of shed like this that you’ve done?
Rogan [00:02:22]:
We’ve done some well over 100 meters long, depending on what people want. You can pretty much buy whatever you like, really. You can just keep adding bays. So if you’re on a really massive shed, we’ll give us a call.
Chris [00:02:33]:
Yeah, absolutely. And we’re talking massive here. Now, Lali, what do you do around here?
Lali [00:02:39]:
I do the marketing department for Alpine.
Chris [00:02:43]:
And so you run the field days operation for these guys?
Lali [00:02:48]:
Effectively, yeah, alongside the sales team. We all pitch in and it’s a good event, we love it.
Chris [00:02:54]:
And so how often do you get clients just rocking and going, I need a shed like this?
Lali [00:02:59]:
I think that’s the whole idea of it is for them to walk in and say, this is what I want.
Chris [00:03:03]:
And that happens a bit.
Lali [00:03:05]:
Yeah, we do get a bit of that all. People might be like, oh, I need it longer. Want half of that, whatever. It definitely gives them a good visualization of what they’re after.

Cool. And how long some alpine buildings been going on?
Lali [00:03:17]:
It’s about 25 years. Yeah. Started in the director’s garage with letter boxes, and here we are selling 100.
Chris [00:03:25]:
Meters long sheds from letter boxes to big sheds. And where is it based?
Lali [00:03:31]:
Based in Timaru, down in Canterbury.
