Sam [00:00:06]:
Hello, and welcome to Episode 467 of the Chris and Sam podcast. The. I’m Chris. And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fixer random’s technology in life and

Chris [00:00:30]:
Fixing audio.

Sam [00:00:31]:
Well, I was gonna say I’ve been very sweaty today, Chris.

Chris [00:00:34]:
It has been hot. It has been hot for a week.

Sam [00:00:38]:
Oh, no. It’s hot, but it’s, I dropped my car off to get its car alarm put in today. Yeah. So shout out to Brian and Tracy from AudioActive.

Chris [00:00:45]:
So these guys, they are doing it from home.

Sam [00:00:47]:
Yeah. They got a whole workshop there. He’s got, like he had, like, 5 or 6 cars he was working on today.

Chris [00:00:51]:
Oh, wow.

Sam [00:00:52]:
Yeah. So he said, I’ll just leave it here. We’ll ring you later. I don’t know how long. Okay. Cool. So the plan was to wander around and do some geocaching.

Chris [00:01:01]:
Oh, wow. You haven’t done that for a while?

Sam [00:01:03]:
No. And when I do do it, I do it full on. So I’ve worked I’ve walked over 19 kilometers today. I’ve done 25,000 steps in the hot, hot sun. I think I found about 12 of The. Or Wow. Maybe 10 out of 12. There was 2 that went there.

Sam [00:01:17]:
And, I I’ve sweated so much. This white stuff on my shirt is all my body salts.

Chris [00:01:25]:
Yes.

Sam [00:01:25]:
So it happens to me. But no. So the main thing is my car’s got a freaking alarm. I went with The top tier model, whatever the hell that means.

Chris [00:01:32]:
Yeah. Yeah. You paid more.

Sam [00:01:33]:
I paid more. It’s crazy. It’s got a little microphone in The that is just listening for glass to break. So if that breaks, it’ll go off. This one’s got 3 immobilizers. So it mobilizes the car in 3 different ways. So I think it’s battery, ignition, and fuel, I guess. Something else.

Sam [00:01:47]:
I don’t know. What else? It’s got a tilt sensor. So if if if someone tried jacking the car up now, go off? Yeah. Yeah. Nice. It’s got a bright blue light there. He goes, I gotta ask, where do you want this light? I was like, I don’t know. It doesn’t bother me.

Sam [00:02:02]:
He goes, it’s really good if I just put it right in the center of the dash so when it blinks at night, it hits the windscreen, and the whole car goes like blue.

Chris [00:02:09]:
Okay. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:02:10]:
Do that.

Chris [00:02:10]:
Because my my, Moana, and, Nissan was right in the dash. It was red, And it just glowed and did the same thing with it. I I think he’s good.

Sam [00:02:21]:
So yeah. Good. He was well, I was talking to him about just, you know, all these car thieves and stuff. I guess it’s mental. He goes, we had a woman that came in, young woman, tried to Aqua because that’s the number and stolen car in the country. Yep. And, like, I think it’s a numbers game more than anything. I don’t think they’re any easier to steal than, say, some other cars.

Sam [00:02:40]:
It’s just they do not have an immobilizer in them. Yeah. Like, you you any car that doesn’t have to immobilize, just rip the ignition and you go.

Chris [00:02:46]:
Yeah. So there’s a certain strata where if it’s under that strata, They they’re fair game in terms of they they think it’s a mo mobilizers. But then, like you say, which one’s got the most on the road? Exactly. That’s a

Sam [00:02:59]:
prank question. At something.

Chris [00:03:00]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:03:01]:
So this is the field that I’ve got, so this is the 3rd on the list. But, Her card had been stolen 5 times before she went and got an alarm put in. And I was like, that’s mental because if she’s paying in excess Yeah.

Chris [00:03:12]:
She She may as well have got The

Sam [00:03:13]:
that. For the 1st time. But he said the problem the biggest problem she had was she got it back from the panel beaters, and within 20 minutes, it was stolen again. 20 minutes. She parked at Mill Street Pack and Save and went to the The bar to have a drink after getting the car back, and she came out, and it wasn’t there. That’s when she went and got an alarm.

Chris [00:03:29]:
That’s when you went and got another drink.

Sam [00:03:31]:
Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. 20 minutes. Oh my god.

Chris [00:03:35]:
Okay. What have

Sam [00:03:35]:
you been up to this week?

Chris [00:03:37]:
So I I had, And I I don’t wanna have a big moan, but, it was interesting.

Sam [00:03:42]:
Our podcast. We can do whatever we want.

Chris [00:03:44]:
Yeah. I I had the worst, migraine I’ve had for, like, over a decade. Like, I

Sam [00:03:50]:
So it was up there?

Chris [00:03:51]:
Way up there. So when I get migraines, Don’t get them very often. Probably, I’d say once to twice a year on on on average, but the the I don’t even feel any pain. It just I get The bit of jangly, a spot in my vision that goes a bit weird, wonky. Yep. And then if I’m and it’s usually because I’m stressed. If I keep stressing, It grows until I can’t see anything.

Sam [00:04:15]:
Oh, okay.

Chris [00:04:16]:
And I gotta lie down. So I and I know as soon as I see the spot and it starts to grow, I’m like, alright. I’m gonna go for a walk. I’m gonna go and lie down, whatever. One of those things. And and I don’t even get a headache. That’s normally. This time, It came on real quick.

Chris [00:04:31]:
I had a splitting headache. I felt nauseous for, like, hours, like I was gonna throw up any second Yeah. For hours.

Sam [00:04:37]:
Oh, man.

Chris [00:04:38]:
And,

Sam [00:04:39]:
So that’s your whole day gone?

Chris [00:04:40]:
Yep. 30 hours, pretty much.

Sam [00:04:41]:
I was screwed.

Chris [00:04:43]:
All all Saturday yeah. I was I was just, yep.

Sam [00:04:46]:
Oh, the weekend too. It’s even worse.

Chris [00:04:49]:
Yes. Yes. So so I and and then on man and Sunday, I took it easy. Monday, I went to work, And I sort of said, oh, I had a migraine. Are you okay now? Yeah. I’m good. I’m good. I feel really good.

Chris [00:05:01]:
After an hour on the screen, so I’m like, Not feeling good. Can’t can’t have a light day.

Sam [00:05:06]:
Oh, well. Yep.

Chris [00:05:08]:
So so luckily, Tuesday was, so So I didn’t do anything there either. So, touchwood have been good today. So anyway

Sam [00:05:16]:
Excellent.

Chris [00:05:17]:
So that’s me. How how about you?

Sam [00:05:19]:
Because you said you had a headache too. Yeah. I yeah. I’m just dehydrated because I’ve been walking for 19 kilometers or whatever it was. I’ve drunk in a bunch I’ve drunk in so much liquid today, like, electrolytes, all sorts of stuff. That’s weird. Like, wandering around, couple of things I noticed was, like, there’s no bus stops anywhere. There’s nowhere to sit.

Sam [00:05:37]:
There’s no seats. I found some really weird parks today that didn’t even know existed. In the, next to, Waitere Drive up near, up past Chartwell as you go alongside the road, I ended up on a path. I came in from a weird place, but I left that way, but there’s a path going in. And so I can drive, but it goes on forever and ever and ever, And then you just end up in this area that is done up as a BMX track or mountain bike track. No. Probably mountain bike track. Yeah.

Sam [00:06:03]:
And it’s really, really cool. It looks really old and not super well maintained, and there’s The shack thing. I’ve got to take a photo of it. Damn it. There’s a shack thing with some seats in The where you could just sit there and watch people go around, I guess, but it’s real massive. Like and it’s through forest and trees and all sorts. And it’s right and next door to it is houses just here. It’s random ass.

Sam [00:06:24]:
Anyway Yeah. I suppose the cyclists know about The, But

Chris [00:06:27]:
this idea.

Sam [00:06:27]:
I don’t know. Yeah. So, anyway, that’s why I’ve got a headache. Yeah. But, this week, I haven’t done too much at work, and here I am.

Chris [00:06:35]:
Yeah. Well, I, I did a another podcast. I’ve been cheating on the Chris and Sam podcast. I, Was

Sam [00:06:40]:
that thing that I saw, the live LinkedIn thing, was that the podcast? That’s the podcast. Okay.

Chris [00:06:44]:
So there’s an audio version of that that’s gone on the audio podcast?

Sam [00:06:47]:
I did not listen to it at all.

Chris [00:06:49]:
Oh, okay.

Sam [00:06:50]:
What happened was it gave I it gave me a thing saying you’re online or something, And I opened up the screen, and I got real busy. And, it but it plays it without, audio or anything. It’s sort of showing you a preview.

Chris [00:07:03]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:07:03]:
And, I’ve spoken to you so much that when you start talking to The woman, I knew what you were saying. I could read your lips. I was just like, oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Cool. But I I did tell you The lighting and the background were really good.

Chris [00:07:16]:
Yes. I I nailed that. It was pretty good. I I was really bummed afterwards When I realized I should’ve hit record on my vertical record

Sam [00:07:24]:
Yes.

Chris [00:07:25]:
So I could have edited little bits out of that. Just quickly on that. Yeah.

Sam [00:07:30]:
There’s, Insta three sixty is a type of camera, and they keep bringing different models out all the time. Yeah. And you have to usually buy direct directly from them, and some of them do make it to stores like Fotogear and Auckland and The, but I saw a YouTuber. He had 1, and they’ve got a

Chris [00:07:48]:
new The. And it’s Is it so it’s a 3 60 cam?

Sam [00:07:52]:
No? They they do do 1, and that’s The one that everyone has on a stick, and it wipes out the stick. But they’ve got this other one, and I can’t remember the actual name of it, but the brand is Insta 360, and it looks just like a GoPro.

Chris [00:08:03]:
Alright.

Sam [00:08:04]:
But the back screen flips up so you can actually record yourself and see what you’re doing. Nice. But it has a feature Where it has a giant cross basically on the screen. So it’s doing vertical and horizontal recording both at the same time, And it’s showing you the guidelines of where to put your head. Nice. And then once you finish recording, it can spit out both formats.

Chris [00:08:27]:
That’s pretty cool.

Sam [00:08:28]:
Yeah. And it’s really cool.

Chris [00:08:29]:
Yeah. Yeah. So, just so those listening, I’ve got an OBS set up, and it records my normal screen, you know, the 16 by 9 or whatever it’s on. I I think that’s what it’s on. And then it also records a vertical which I can use for, And or whatever, which I’ve never really used yet. I’ve planned to, but I haven’t. And I should have just recorded The all day, and I just would’ve cut something.

Sam [00:08:52]:
Because that’s the trick, isn’t it? Like, you gotta gotta record all The stuff and get all the little clips out.

Chris [00:08:55]:
Yeah. That’s the thing.

Sam [00:08:56]:
And we sort of do that sometimes with The Chris and Sam Podcast, when I get around to it, I do have a new tool that I’m playing with that’s been built from some random

Chris [00:09:04]:
use that AI thing that spits out some gobbledygook onto Facebook. That makes no sense that I keep reading going, what does this mean? What’s

Sam [00:09:14]:
this That’s a different tool. That’s missing letter, I think, that’s doing that. They’re The older

Chris [00:09:19]:
posts, I don’t know. They come up every now and again.

Sam [00:09:22]:
Yeah. It’s like so there’s there’s a tool called Missingletta, and You publish something. Can I get an email? And it goes, hey. You’ve got a new, new post. And you go into it, and then you tell it if you and drip feed something for 2 weeks or up to 12 months, And I’ve done it in the past, and it it picks it transcribes it, and it picks out pieces. Yep. And then it tries to make a caption that’s a bit weird sometimes. Yeah.

Sam [00:09:50]:
And you gotta go through each one and try and fix it up. But there’s sam that came through, and I’m like, I swear I didn’t pick those because I’ve seen 1 or 2, and I’m like, what does that mean? Because there’s no context.

Chris [00:10:00]:
I I yeah. I remember reading 1 or 2. Yeah. Okay. Just so everybody know now knows what’s going on.

Sam [00:10:05]:
How’d the podcast go, though, with this lady from was she the Canadian?

Chris [00:10:08]:
Yeah. Shauna, Shauna. I’ve forgotten her last name.

Sam [00:10:12]:
That’s okay. Don’t worry, Shauna.

Chris [00:10:13]:
Shauna Lee something or other. And, yes, the Rebel Marketing podcast, it went really well. I nailed it. It was pretty cool.

Sam [00:10:19]:
And what what was your expertise?

Chris [00:10:22]:
So she called it pitch perfect, the heart of Pitching. No. The heart of, something or else.

Sam [00:10:31]:
Okay. Something or else. And pitching your idea or concept

Chris [00:10:35]:
or pitching communication, basically. So yeah. No. It went really well. Check it out. It’s on my Facebook page. It’s on because I I live streamed it because we use Restream. Like, I live streamed it to YouTube, Facebook page, and

Sam [00:10:51]:
Oh, okay. LinkedIn. Cool. Why? It’s not a problem with LinkedIn. So, basically, you can go check out this audio podcast as well of hers

Chris [00:10:57]:
Yes. Which was called rebel marketing podcast. Okay. Yeah. With Shauna.

Sam [00:11:01]:
Be interesting, and it’d be cool if you get some feedback on that.

Chris [00:11:04]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:11:05]:
Well, how we do do you know what her audience size is? Is it bigger than the Chris’n Sam podcast?

Chris [00:11:09]:
I have no idea.

Sam [00:11:10]:
Okay. Okay.

Chris [00:11:11]:
But it was good fun. Thank you. Anyway, what else have we got? I wanted to I this isn’t even written down, but I came across this earlier, and I wanted to look it up. I’ve looked it up. Now I thought it was new. And then by the time I look it up, I’m like, yeah. This sorta happened between 2010, 2014. Yep.

Chris [00:11:30]:
Right? Yep. But it’s still really cool.

Sam [00:11:32]:
Okay.

Chris [00:11:32]:
So I’m gonna share some of this anyway. So the guy we’re talking about here is Marino Morikawa. He’s a Peruvian Japanese gentleman.

Sam [00:11:41]:
Of course he is.

Chris [00:11:42]:
Yeah. And he does oh, I was gonna say he’s a he’s a bio something or other Engineer.

Sam [00:11:49]:
I like that. We never got a job title like that.

Chris [00:11:51]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And he was, so he grew up in Peru, But he’s living in Japan and doing this stuff. And he’s talking to his father one day, and his father says, oh, the wetlands, you know, where we used to fish all the time. Yeah. They’re gonna cap it. They’re gonna concrete over it all, and it goes, it’s a 160 hectares.

Chris [00:12:10]:
You guys, oh, no. It used to be. So about 60 left now, and it’s it’s just a feathered swamp.

Sam [00:12:15]:
They keep capping it to me.

Chris [00:12:17]:
Well, they’re going to cap it

Sam [00:12:18]:
because

Chris [00:12:19]:
it had it had Grown in. Mhmm. Okay. He he he flew back. Obviously, he’s making a lot of money, I would say. He flew back and checked it out, and it was like, It was disgusting. Okay. So there was a whole bunch of things that yeah.

Chris [00:12:32]:
And this is his field. He he could see that was wrong, so there was, like, Sewerage or drainage going by the side of it, which was leaching into it. Okay. It was just, like, being used as an illegal dump, so it’s just rubbish in The. And then there was sam, chris fitted, something they call it something lettuce. It’s just one of those Pests. Yeah.

Sam [00:12:55]:
Yeah. Could be species.

Chris [00:12:56]:
Pests. Plants that just covers the top. So, anyway, he go he talks to mayor because he Family’s been there for generations. They all know each other.

Sam [00:13:05]:
Okay.

Chris [00:13:05]:
So he talks to Mary. He knows Mary. He goes, hey. Look. Give me a year. Don’t have to give me any money. I’ll get it fixed. And the guy goes, we’ve been trying, and I’ve given up.

Chris [00:13:14]:
We’ve tried this so many for so many years.

Sam [00:13:16]:
So the aim is to make it back to original swampland Perfect.

Chris [00:13:20]:
So he, so what he did is he said, right. Don’t worry about the money. I’ll sort it out.

Sam [00:13:26]:
So he couldn’t get it

Chris [00:13:27]:
to raise any money per row. He went back to Japan, Took out 3 different loans. Yeah. Tried to get some funding. He didn’t really get any funding. He just paid for it all himself.

Sam [00:13:36]:
How how much does he spend? Do we know?

Chris [00:13:38]:
Don’t think it’s set here.

Sam [00:13:39]:
And I’m just trying to figure out if it’s like, it’s a lot to get a loan, but Yeah. How great I don’t know.

Chris [00:13:44]:
Because in Japan, the interest rates are so ridiculously low.

Sam [00:13:47]:
Okay.

Chris [00:13:48]:
3% or 2% or something to borrow.

Sam [00:13:51]:
Alright.

Chris [00:13:51]:
You know? So it’s ridiculous. So I in my understanding of it, anyway. So, yeah, that’s cool. He spent he got a a bunch of samples, went back to The, back to Japan, back to his lab Yeah. And spent 6 6 months just working in the lab. Mhmm. He comes back, and within 3 months, he turned it around. And, basically, what he was using is micro nano bubbles.

Sam [00:14:17]:
Micro nano bubbles? Right.

Chris [00:14:19]:
Okay. So when you Think of a, fizzy drink Yeah. And the bubbles and fizzy drink. They’re 10,000 times smaller than that. Okay. And if you put the bubbles at the bottom of the pond, whatever, they’ll they’re so small, they take 5, 6 hours to get to the surface.

Sam [00:14:37]:
Right? Okay.

Chris [00:14:38]:
Yeah. And I’m I’m just yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So what happens is they have an electromagnetic field because of the way the surface tension of the bubble works and all this Stuff I don’t understand.

Sam [00:14:48]:
Good. I believe you. Carry on here.

Chris [00:14:50]:
And what it does is it attracts all the viruses and bacteria to the bubbles. It’s like they get caught in a web, And and it and they get stuck in these bubbles, and they bring them up to surface, and the sunlight cleans them all. What?

Sam [00:15:04]:
And Okay.

Chris [00:15:04]:
Yeah. I know. And I’m like, this sounds amazing.

Sam [00:15:08]:
So is it the what what how is he making the bubbles? I Is it a pipe at the bottom, or is it some running machine?

Chris [00:15:14]:
I’ve I had a look around for this. So this was on the World Economic Forum. They have those little videos. I don’t

Sam [00:15:20]:
know if

Chris [00:15:20]:
you’ve seen them. So I saw that, and I went, I wanna know more because it didn’t tell me anything.

Sam [00:15:24]:
But they weren’t telling me anything.

Chris [00:15:25]:
Then I found this PDF is basically what I’m going through here, and it goes through all chris stuff.

Sam [00:15:29]:
Okay.

Chris [00:15:30]:
Now this is what The before and after from 2,000 2010 to 2014 photos.

Sam [00:15:36]:
Oh, woah. Okay.

Chris [00:15:38]:
Yeah. And, all the biodiversity’s come back. The birds come back, all that sort of thing. It’s got you know, obviously, over the Several years. I think this PDF that I’m looking at was printed in 2015, and he he got some major conservation award and stuff like that. It’s the dude.

Sam [00:15:58]:
Okay. Yeah. Okay. That’s pretty cool.

Chris [00:16:00]:
So I I just, like, It’s just such a cool story, and I’m like, why don’t we ever hear the cool stories? I wanna hear some more cool stories.

Sam [00:16:07]:
Because it’s not clickbait. Most people most people no. It’s it.

Chris [00:16:10]:
Like, No. You’re right. You’re right.

Sam [00:16:12]:
That’s right.

Chris [00:16:13]:
But yeah. So I just wanted to to say good on you, Merino sam Monte Carlo.

Sam [00:16:18]:
How young do you think is the youngest person ever to reach Everest Base Camp?

Chris [00:16:26]:
I I can I would say 16?

Sam [00:16:29]:
You’d think something like that.

Chris [00:16:31]:
I’m I’m I’m just throwing a guess at you. Right?

Sam [00:16:33]:
Why don’t I tell you if it’s a 2 year old?

Chris [00:16:36]:
That’s just stupid.

Sam [00:16:37]:
It doesn’t count, does it? Because it got got got carried up there with the parents.

Chris [00:16:40]:
Yeah. Exactly.

Sam [00:16:41]:
Yes. So, The previous record was held by a, 4 year old from the Czech Republic, but this British couple decided, stuff that. We’re touring the world. We’re traveling everywhere. We’re gonna take this kid with us.

Chris [00:16:54]:
We call it Zach.

Sam [00:16:56]:
They tested his blood, as well to make sure he’s all good in The. And it says something here. When they were back in the UK, they were doing some sort of training. The and is benefiting from learning about different cultures now, loves hearing the Islamic call to prayer and other things. He’s 2. It did say somewhere here that, they’ve been doing some training at home, breathing techniques and plunge themselves into ice cold baths. They’re throwing this kid in ice cold bars. And I’m like, I just I don’t know.

Sam [00:17:27]:
It’s I think those records have to be Self propelled by somebody that wants to do it? Yeah. Yeah. Because literally you could go, also, he’s dived the deepest under the ocean. Like, what happened? Oh, we’d put him in a little submarine. We took him down. Like Yeah.

Chris [00:17:43]:
Cool. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s not cool. It’s like no. I’m sorry. I was gonna say something that’s not cool.

Chris [00:17:49]:
Okay. I won’t.

Sam [00:17:51]:
I watched I I watched the I I YouTube has decided to show me random things again.

Chris [00:17:56]:
Right. Okay.

Sam [00:17:57]:
The algorithm’s changed on me. Partly, I’m seeing, like, a lot of John Oliver stuff now because we’ve been watching The chris. I saw a clip from, what’s his face? Who’s back? The the other guy?

Chris [00:18:08]:
Jimmy Kimmel? No. He’s been showing up a lot.

Sam [00:18:11]:
No. Who left?

Chris [00:18:13]:
I was Yeah. And he’s

Sam [00:18:14]:
back 1 night a week, and he did a gun one the other day. Yeah.

Chris [00:18:17]:
I understand. John John and Stewart. Stewart.

Sam [00:18:20]:
So, anyway, the other thing I’ve been seeing for some reason, I don’t know why, Area and videos. I don’t know. Anyway, watch and. So now they’re gonna show me all of them. So this guy Yeah. This guy in 1994, he’s an archaeologist. So way back in the day, In, like, 18/76 or something, these pilgrims went all the way through the area that, the location, the area fifty The and currently now, and they split up, and they had arguments, and half of them died, and they had to eat the horses and all chris stuff. It’s like a whole story.

Chris [00:18:55]:
That happened all over the state.

Sam [00:18:56]:
Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. But these and and and they finally some of them made it and all this sort of stuff, and, But they as they were coming through, they wrote a big inscription thing on a wall of, granite, I think, in a canyon.

Chris [00:19:11]:
Oh, okay.

Sam [00:19:11]:
And they they had a whole bunch of them, but there’s a couple that had never been seen. So this guy is an archaeologist, and that’s all he’s ever is and ever wanted to be, And he’s really good.

Chris [00:19:20]:
So he’s looking for this inscription on you, can you?

Sam [00:19:22]:
Yeah. And he and but it’s next to the lake thing, the lake bed that Era and uses. It’s right next to all the hangars and stuff. And basically, he contacts them and say, hey. Do you have a archaeologist on base? I just want to come in and see if I can find This very historically important area because nobody’s ever done it because the photo of the lake bed, Sorry. They only have an image that some guy drew back in the day because it’s no fly zone. You can’t take photos. You can’t do anything.

Sam [00:19:50]:
Alright. So 1994, her brother drives him all the way up to the edge that you’re allowed to get to, and he says, see you later. I’ll I’ll message you when I can on my phone, And, I’ve started sending updates to the San Francisco Chronicle, I think it was. So he wrote all these letters to them, And he was just like, I hope they don’t dob me in and get me arrested straight and. And he was in there for 7 days and, and, he he was he Yeah.

Chris [00:20:19]:
But he’s just looking for Description on Canyon Wolf.

Sam [00:20:22]:
Yes. But he’s in Area and. So top secret military base, bombing range, And, airfield for god knows what. So he says, I’m I climb over a ridge. I’m just about to go over here. Boom. There’s a whole base. Armguards everywhere on rotation, lights that flick on and off and then quickly rotate and then come back on.

Sam [00:20:43]:
So he works he he has to basically go right up against it And around it. And he finally gets to where he goes. He can’t find the inscription. He never finds it. His phone dies. He runs out of water. He thinks, oh, shit. He said to his brother, if if I’m not back at the date that either caught me, and something’s happening or I’m dead, Like, that’s it.

Sam [00:21:04]:
Just how it is. Don’t worry about it. He found, he found and oxen shoe. Like, he found something that was because he had oxen From that party?

Chris [00:21:14]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So it was good. A day.

Sam [00:21:16]:
And then as he’s leaving, he went somewhere else. Oh, and he saw the lake bed. And he said during the day, It’s just a light bed, and he’s got a photo color photo that he took. And he goes, I’m the only person that probably has that photo, and he and he Never did anything with it or anything. No. And, you know but he says at nighttime, he goes, it was lit up, and there’s something underneath it lit up. And there was weird lights that came out and all sorts. So it sounds like it’s The underground hangar that must open up or something.

Sam [00:21:45]:
I don’t know. And he goes, it was absolutely crazy. But as he was leaving, he was like, I’m gonna die of dehydration. He ends up stumbling across another building that He goes, didn’t really have any guards, but he found a hose, turned that on, drunk as much water as he could, and then managed to make it out and caught up with his brother. They were not happy he was in there, and he didn’t really talk about what else happened, but they didn’t arrest him or anything.

Chris [00:22:10]:
And he didn’t we oh, no. Because he that all came out in the paper because he just sent it to the paper. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:22:16]:
And then he and he he explained why he’d done The, because he said, like, I’m I’m gonna be

Chris [00:22:22]:
If I disappear

Sam [00:22:23]:
Yeah. Pretty much.

Chris [00:22:23]:
It’s gonna be a recall. Yeah.

Sam [00:22:24]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:22:25]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:22:25]:
No. It’s fair fair call. Pretty random little, random little clop?

Chris [00:22:29]:
Yeah. So, yeah, look forward to hearing all the other random

Sam [00:22:32]:
stuff that

Chris [00:22:33]:
you know.

Sam [00:22:33]:
Well, the other one the other one is this There’s an account that seems to show body cam footage from chris, so I don’t know how they get the footage. And the guy goes, dispatch, I’m just going into the, well, camera what he called the area. He didn’t call it era 51, but he goes, we’re going into the The in the area. And these 2 this man and woman are in a, like, sedan, and they’ve drove driven right in as far as they can to the base, and then the base securities come out. And the cops had to go up The, and he goes all the way up The. And there’s these guys, and the voice over guy goes, they’re not military, but they do all have camo gear on. And the cop goes up to him and covers his camera, and he says, hey. Look.

Sam [00:23:15]:
Just to let you know, I’m recording because my body cam’s on. If you guys wanna cover your faces, I’m just giving you that opportunity right now. And then the guy goes, Hey. Really appreciate it. Really happy you guys came out here. And and then he takes it off, and they’re all just, like, fully covered. And they’re, like, full military. And he goes, yeah.

Sam [00:23:30]:
He goes, so, oh, so so they caught somebody trespassing. The chris husband and wife. They just drove all the way up. And the cop says, look, and the the military guy goes, just to let you know, for all precautions, we did handcuff him just because of his size, Chris, quite a big dude, and he did have some weapons on him oh, in his vehicle. He’s okay. No problems or anything. We’ve we’ve unhandcuffed him, and they’ll eat your cock because I was weird. So he’s talking to this guy and goes, just to let you know, you had a pistol and a lockbox in your car? And he goes, yeah.

Sam [00:24:00]:
Yeah. He goes, okay. I’m just gonna hold that. When when we turn you around and get you off Sierra, I’ll give it all back to you, and you had a pocket knife and camera on and he goes, yeah. Yep. Okay. Sweet. And he said, we are really, really surprised How far you made it in that car? Like, we’ve and he says to the the the camo dude, he goes, remember those last couple? He goes, yeah.

Sam [00:24:20]:
Yeah. They were like 3 clicks back When we stopped him, because that’s as far as they could get, he goes, I don’t know how this car got up here. And he said, what what are you doing here? And the guy goes, oh, we’re in town and we bought all the souvenirs and stuff, and we said to the guy, can we go get a photo of the the gate, Like, as far as you can go, and the guy goes, yeah. He goes, drive up, turn off this road, go up this little track, turn left, the gate will be there, but they turned right. And then, basically, they just got lost, and they just keep driving until the security came. Yeah. And he goes the cop goes, We’re gonna give you a citation right now. You’re basically being trespassed.

Sam [00:24:59]:
You’ve got a $600 fine. You’re both getting and. You will get a court summons. You do not have to come to court. If you wanna make payments on this, you just contact the court. That’s fine. You can come to the court and defend us if you want. And the guy the husband and wife got, no.

Sam [00:25:13]:
No. No. We’re idiots. We’re not doing that. He goes, okay. We’ll turn you around. Hopefully, we can get you out. And he goes to the camera guy, I just I hope they don’t have a get a flat tire in a sec, and they go, yeah.

Sam [00:25:22]:
I’m I can’t I just can’t believe that they made it this far. We’ve never had a car coming this far. Thanks to you. I like 4 wheel drive. Yeah. No worries. But look at it. It’s just a normal sedan.

Sam [00:25:33]:
Anyway, that’s the other one I saw.

Chris [00:25:36]:
That’s that’s awesome.

Sam [00:25:38]:
Here

Chris [00:25:38]:
we go for Tom.

Sam [00:25:39]:
You’ve got about 2 and a half minutes. 2 and a

Chris [00:25:41]:
half minutes. Oh, what are we gonna do? I Did you see this thing about new surveillance in schools in in in New Zealand?

Sam [00:25:51]:
What’s the deal?

Chris [00:25:52]:
What’s the deal?

Sam [00:25:53]:
Oh, yeah. I just saw the headline.

Chris [00:25:55]:
It’s opening. That’s what’s the deal. So Green Bay High School students are voicing concerns about glass bathroom door.

Sam [00:26:05]:
Yes. So they can see if they’re vaping, but there’s no cameras pointing at The glass bathroom door. It’s frosted glass, though, isn’t it? I think. We’d

Chris [00:26:12]:
hope so.

Sam [00:26:13]:
It’s frosted in the middle like this, And then there’s panel panel at the top and bottom, I think.

Chris [00:26:19]:
It’s still pretty dodge.

Sam [00:26:21]:
But I yeah. It’s a bit weird. What do you think about

Chris [00:26:26]:
I mean, I remember when I was at school, and it it was nothing to get peep the kids to Bend over and touch your toes while the, headmasters whacked you around the ass with the, with the game. That was normal.

Sam [00:26:38]:
I mean, that that’s So long ago, so old. The cracks me up though with the vaping, though, because every time I see someone vape, there’s so much, Smoke can be made to a normal cigarette. Even if they try and contain it, they can’t. It just goes goes everywhere.

Chris [00:26:52]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:26:53]:
And it smells Because usually it’s flavored?

Chris [00:26:55]:
Yeah. Yeah. So why do you need the glass thing?

Sam [00:26:58]:
I don’t know. Coming out today I think it was today from today, All Pack and Save’s North Island wide facial recognition.

Chris [00:27:06]:
I saw no. It’s on trial, isn’t it? Yeah.

Sam [00:27:08]:
But it’s still using facial recognition.

Chris [00:27:10]:
It’s All packing tapes are trialing it in a couple. And if it

Sam [00:27:13]:
Oh, I thought it was awesome.

Chris [00:27:14]:
A trial The they’re talking about

Sam [00:27:16]:
wrong It makes no sense to me.

Chris [00:27:18]:
Yeah. So they’re trialing it in Auckland. So I I saw The news news story myself. The trialing in Auckland, The, They are using it because there’s been repeat offenders coming in Yeah. Stealing stuff and punching people up Yeah. Whatever. Stabbing.

Sam [00:27:35]:
I don’t care. The know every shithead is known to everybody. It doesn’t matter because they can’t do anything. Yeah. You could go the system can go, oh, dickheads come in the store. Okay. The security guy can’t do anything. Nobody can do anything.

Sam [00:27:52]:
Cops are stretched. I don’t understand what the point is. They’re gonna identify people potentially. Though, if you’re female and you’re Asian, Maori, or any any any ethnicity apart from European, it has real trouble. So it’s just gonna identify anybody. Yeah. Good times. And the caliber of staff, They’re highly trained.

Sam [00:28:11]:
They’re not gonna

Chris [00:28:12]:
Yeah. They they need

Sam [00:28:13]:
to go on about how highly trained they are. Highly trained. They’re idiots. And, there’s gonna be, like, TikTok shared images of stuff. Like Yeah. Anyway, I’d be interested to see how it goes.

Chris [00:28:26]:
The I I don’t have a problem with the trial. It makes sense, and they’ve gotta teach it, and it may help to learn. But there are a couple of things I would be concerned about. First of all, there is that whole what’s the point because you can’t do it with them. But the other thing is I still think their data is not gonna be secure enough, And anybody’s images can be captured, which 20 years ago, 10 years ago, wouldn’t have been a problem. Now it could be a deep fake. Right? Yes. So those images can be used, Mind you, I guess, they can capture images themselves from anything now.

Sam [00:29:06]:
Yeah. But, yeah. So I think I, you know, I don’t know if I’m right on this or not. There’s a lot of petrol stations and other people that are tied in with that AURA system. Okay? Mhmm. And the AURA system is cameras The record everyone, and they share the image or the information between stores, I think, is how it works. Right. Pac and Save can’t be part of The.

Sam [00:29:29]:
So So I think Countdown is part of Aura and Zed and Priscos and all those guys. So when all those people steal, That gets sent out. I think that’s how it works.

Chris [00:29:39]:
Right.

Sam [00:29:40]:
So I think that’s I don’t know if that system uses AI, and it’s that whole loose term of AI. Yeah. You know, like, there’s different a spectrum of it.

Chris [00:29:49]:
Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. 100%. And but, yeah, facial recognition is is I think we need to have it here to start training on our ethnic makeup. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:30:02]:
You know? I and we need it somewhere. But,

Sam [00:30:05]:
I’d be interested to see how it’s utilized overseas and what they’re doing with it and if they’re getting good results. I bet I can just, in my head, I can just see somebody has come up with some random program off the shelf from somewhere else, done a really good presentation that’s, like, 72 slides, And gone, hey. This is gonna reduce all the thieving and stuff. In reality, nothing’s gonna happen 1,000,000

Chris [00:30:28]:
of dollars. Save you 1,000,000

Sam [00:30:29]:
of dollars. But to do that, 2

Chris [00:30:31]:
and a

Sam [00:30:31]:
half $1,000,000 What is it? 6 months or something like, you know, and then we have to do an upgrade.

Chris [00:30:37]:
Yep. You

Sam [00:30:37]:
know? It’s somewhat solid to me.

Chris [00:30:39]:
Worked at, pack and Foodstuffs for a couple of years. I I can 100% agree with that.

Sam [00:30:43]:
That brings us to the end of the podcast. Right. Next week, we have a meeting for Misty Flix.

Chris [00:30:49]:
Misty Flex.

Sam [00:30:49]:
For some reason, I thought it was this week.

Chris [00:30:51]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Now

Sam [00:30:52]:
I thought it was weird, though, having a Waitangi weekend day. I I I had a nightmare last week of reading things. Like, I thought I’m a 100% convinced I saw this email at work. Doesn’t exist. I didn’t I didn’t see the I saw the Time for that meeting, but never the date in that WhatsApp chat. Until I went back in it, I was like, oh, yeah. Makes sense.

Chris [00:31:12]:
Oh, I I I was exactly The same.

Sam [00:31:14]:
Because you said I’ll pick it

Chris [00:31:15]:
up on Tuesday. I’m like, yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:31:16]:
No. I because I was on the page the night before, and she goes, no. No. It’s not tomorrow.

Chris [00:31:19]:
And I

Sam [00:31:20]:
was like, oh, that makes lots of sense. Yeah. I sorry. I don’t know what’s going on with my brain.

Chris [00:31:24]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I’m glad yep. But she she she mentioned that. So The interesting thing is I am launching a, a new challenge, a new film competition.

Chris [00:31:36]:
Yes. So I am the Misty Flix challenge, coordinator is going to be my new title The. And you, my friend Yeah. Are taking over the coordination of the entire festival.

Sam [00:31:48]:
Yeah. I I I don’t really know what that means. Yes.

Chris [00:31:54]:
I think that means you’re my boss. Yeah. I yeah. So nothing changed.

Sam [00:32:00]:
I think it’s sort of yeah. I don’t know. We’ll see we’ll see how we go.

Chris [00:32:03]:
Yeah. So, Expect to hear a lot more about Misty Flix in the coming year.

Sam [00:32:09]:
Yes. That’s right. So until next time, I’m Sam.

Chris [00:32:12]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:32:13]:
I’ll see you.

Chris [00:32:14]:
Bye.
