Sam [00:00:21]:
Hello, and welcome to episode and of the Chris and Sam podcast.
Chris [00:00:26]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:00:26]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly Fix of Random’s Technology and Life. And real quick, if you like this episode, this podcast, us. How about you leave us a review? I went on to Itunes, Chris, on the Apple Podcast thing or whatever it’s called.
Chris [00:00:40]:
Oh, because you’ve got Apple now. Yeah.
Sam [00:00:42]:
No. No. But I can log in anyway because that’s how you have to originally set up a podcast.
Chris [00:00:46]:
Oh right.
Sam [00:00:47]:
You know do it through Apple or anyway whatever. We have 2 reviews over the last 10 years. In in 2015. We do have 6 total star ratings though of 5 stars So people like it, but if you can leave us a review on whatever app, whatever platform, whatever you use, that’d be pretty cool. As we as we lead into episode 500, you know, we’re all sorting that out.
Chris [00:01:14]:
Yeah. So obviously, we keep score. We keep track of this. We have no clue. But, no, that’s cool.
Sam [00:01:21]:
We’re in it for the money. No? Is The not it?
Chris [00:01:25]:
Am I missing? Sam I
Sam [00:01:26]:
oh, hang on. Chris is the first I’ve heard of this.
Chris [00:01:30]:
Yeah. So, anyway, I was gonna say something now, and now you’ve
Sam [00:01:36]:
you’ve you’ve you’ve A brilliant
Chris [00:01:36]:
day. You’ve you’ve totally I’m lost. I’m lost. Actually, I’ll tell you I’ll tell you something you didn’t haven’t didn’t know or I don’t think you knew.
Sam [00:01:43]:
Okay. Because
Chris [00:01:43]:
I didn’t know. Put it that way.
Sam [00:01:45]:
Hang on. Hang on. Let’s okay.
Chris [00:01:48]:
Did you know that China had a really big streamer economy?
Sam [00:01:53]:
A really big, like, streaming online
Chris [00:01:55]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:01:55]:
Economy? No not really. Chris this the weirdo sales ones where they’re watching the people?
Chris [00:02:01]:
Yeah pretty much most of that is.
Sam [00:02:04]:
Because they got rid of that woman who holds up something for 2 seconds and throws it away for some reason. She was making, like, 1,000,000 of dollars a year. Have you seen her? No. Oh, so they have one of The platforms, whatever they use, over there, you can like it’s like The, but there’s always people sitting around and you can go, hey, show me the The, and they jump on and show you this thing. Well, there’s this very well put together lady and she’s screaming at the camera and they’re just handing her boxes and she’s just throwing, she must be going through like 20, 30 items every minute and she’s just throwing it and she was one of the top in top income people.
Chris [00:02:41]:
Yeah. So, okay. So there’s 15,800,000 0.08000000 professional streamers. Professionals? Okay. That means 1 in and Chinese citizen is a professional streamer.
Sam [00:02:56]:
Okay. So that means 99 out of 1 are consuming content? Almost? Or a lot? A big percentage?
Chris [00:03:03]:
Yeah, I guess.
Sam [00:03:04]:
I don’t know.
Chris [00:03:05]:
Okay. And
Sam [00:03:06]:
is it all gaming? Or is it do we know?
Chris [00:03:08]:
No. I I think most of it and at least in the video. So this links to a YouTube video, which is quite good good, and I should shout out to to Cal.
Sam [00:03:17]:
It sounded lush, Cal, I think.
Chris [00:03:18]:
Lush Monster sort of shared chris, and I I got into it.
Sam [00:03:20]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:03:22]:
So we’ll share the video in the in the show notes, but, yeah, basically, 2,200,000,000,000 out of 14,000,000,000,000 and, whatever you call it. Okay. Yeah. The currency in online sales means that so online sales every year, 2,200,000,000,000, 14,000,000,000,000 of that, that’s 14,000,000,000,000, 2,200,000,000 of that is online, revenue earned by streamers. Oh, wow. So which is pretty good. That’s 18.1%. But these streamers though, 2% of the streamers get 80% of the revenue.
Chris [00:04:02]:
So it’s not that No.
Sam [00:04:02]:
Yeah. But but I think that’s standard with everything. It’s the same with the podcast and the same with the YouTubers.
Chris [00:04:08]:
Yeah. So 0.4 percent of professional live streamers earn more than a and 1,000 of that yuan per month whereas 95.2 percent earn less than 5,000
Sam [00:04:21]:
and month. Sam thing for, things like OnlyFans.
Chris [00:04:25]:
Yeah. And and what they do is they a lot of people are hired, so they they’ll pay them and yuan a month, which is, I did the math, the the conversion is about a 1,600 maybe in New Zealand.
Sam [00:04:39]:
Okay.
Chris [00:04:40]:
So you get 3,000 a month salary plus 1% commission and what they sell, but they’re doing 6 hours of live stream.
Sam [00:04:47]:
I was just gonna I was just gonna ask how many hours?
Chris [00:04:50]:
6 hours per day. I don’t know if you get weekends with that. I don’t think so. I’m guessing you don’t.
Sam [00:04:56]:
That’s less than what I thought you were gonna say.
Chris [00:04:58]:
Yeah. But that’s live streaming. They’ve still got to script everything. They’ve got to
Sam [00:05:03]:
I don’t know how chris script things going on.
Chris [00:05:05]:
I don’t. But yeah. Okay. Yeah. So, but apparently, the voice things are a real issue. There are people that are just killing their voice talking and stuff for 6 hours.
Sam [00:05:17]:
Yeah. Every day.
Chris [00:05:17]:
Every day. Okay. Yeah. So yeah. But the and person they interviewed in this, they’ve managed to get a 1000000 followers, but they can’t afford to live on that.
Sam [00:05:28]:
Yeah. No. That’s right.
Chris [00:05:29]:
Which is just insane. That’s just because
Sam [00:05:31]:
the followers don’t equate to money. Yeah.
Chris [00:05:33]:
And it’s
Sam [00:05:34]:
and and I’ll tell you what, that’s what TikTok’s all about. You can be super viral on TikTok but you’re not making any money on that
Chris [00:05:40]:
yeah and and it’s it’s it’s cool there’s some pictures. They’re walking down this bridge, and there’s this nice bridge, you know, like a flash type bridge. And every 5 feet, there’s a streamer sitting there with their phone with their ring light in front of them talking
Sam [00:05:56]:
Woah.
Chris [00:05:57]:
At night. It was it’s just it’s just insane. So anyway, I didn’t have any clue of that, so I thought it’s interesting.
Sam [00:06:03]:
Hey. Did we talk about Patchy, the guy that made coffee in Auckland? I had a conversation with someone, but I don’t know if it was us on the podcast.
Chris [00:06:09]:
I don’t recall that
Sam [00:06:10]:
that at all. Okay so this guy, nickname Patchy, his name’s John Lowe. He got, basically separated from his wife, living in his car in Auckland. He’s homeless and he decides to make street coffee from a shopping cart. Do you hear The story? No. He’s super popular, right? For a dollar 50 he opens his thermos up, pulls out some instant coffee, gives it to you. For $2 I think gives you a biscuit. Right? And he’s got a
Chris [00:06:36]:
Instant coffee. Okay.
Sam [00:06:37]:
Yep. And he’s and he’s got a he’s got a technique. He says this is how you make it good you know and people like you know what For a dollar 50, this is pretty good. Like he is an institution in And, right? Okay. Yep. Super popular. So they’re talking to him and he says, I’m thinking of doing a give a little thing. So, when they spoke to him a couple of a month ago, I think it was.
Sam [00:06:59]:
Yeah. It was something like $900 and he’s made over $10,000 to kick start his coffee business. He’s not sleeping in his car anymore and he especially asked Give a Little to release the funds early to do this. He’s got investors lined up and he said, look, it’s probably not going to work out maybe because it’s just, you know, hospitality and that. He seems pretty switched on. So he’s got a location now on Queen Street in Auckland somewhere where he can sleep in there as well as well as make coffee and stuff. And, I think he’s still just I don’t know if he’s making proper coffee now or if he’s still instant coffee but he said at a dollar 50 a cup he was still profitable.
Chris [00:07:40]:
Wow. Yeah. You would be and dollar 50 a cup.
Sam [00:07:43]:
Well think about it. You can buy a bag of whatever for what? Yeah. 3, $4? Whatever.
Chris [00:07:48]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:07:49]:
And his biggest concern when he was starting out or problem was he’d like run out of hot water and then he’d have to go back somewhere had a little base where he could cook, someone lent him a power plug, I guess, for a jug or something?
Chris [00:08:00]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:08:01]:
Yeah. Alright.
Chris [00:08:02]:
That’s a good story. I love that. That’s cool. I love that. Did you hear this one about it? This is a New Zealand story, Mount Maunganui.
Sam [00:08:09]:
What’s
Chris [00:08:10]:
The? The guy who so The there’s 3 people being caught for burglary like so they were robbing I think they were robbing a building site. Okay. Yeah, building site and 3 guys came out 3 AM 3:40 Sam, Mount Maunganui, Surf Road, and they all jumped into a car, and The they were seen loading timber into the vehicle. Right? So they’re just robbing a a thing.
Sam [00:08:35]:
Building something.
Chris [00:08:35]:
The police arrived as the men were driving off Yeah. And stopped the vehicle. 2 of the men fled on foot while a 32 year old man was arrested as he tried to get out of the vehicle through the boot, like it must be in a hatchback, and he’s trying to I don’t whatever.
Sam [00:08:51]:
Yeah. Okay. Good.
Chris [00:08:52]:
The dumb one. They call it the dumb one.
Sam [00:08:54]:
Yeah. That’s right.
Chris [00:08:54]:
Well, did they? Because
Sam [00:08:57]:
Oh, here we go.
Chris [00:08:57]:
One of them ran into the surf, And
Sam [00:09:00]:
the cops didn’t follow. Okay. I know the end of chris story.
Chris [00:09:03]:
Yeah. The cops didn’t follow. They go, oh, it’s not very safe. But they put a couple of cops on the beach to watch him come back. He they they found his body.
Sam [00:09:13]:
Yeah. Yeah. Not good. Not good.
Chris [00:09:15]:
So I think he was so there’s a 53 year old that was, also detained. I don’t think it says how old The oh, 37 year old ran into the sea.
Sam [00:09:28]:
It’s amazing what they’ll try and do to get away. So did you hear about the cop that got punched in the head the other day? No. Okay. So 9:30 at night or something in in Hamilton. They pull over a car and he impounds it and he’s waiting for
Chris [00:09:41]:
So he’s in uniform the whole? Yeah.
Sam [00:09:43]:
Yeah. Yeah. He’s waiting for the tow truck to come and then I think the driver’s like, I’m gonna take my car and the keys must have still been in it which is weird like he should anyway I don’t know. Goes to jump in the car and The cops are like, okay. He’s either gonna run me over or crash into me. I don’t know. So I think he jumped into the passenger seat with this guy and then at some point, the cop tasered the guy, I think, or attempted to in the car, but the driver’s just punching him in the head. He gets out and off.
Sam [00:10:16]:
So they have a dog unit, double unit after him and then
Chris [00:10:19]:
So was the cop by himself? Was he on his own? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:10:21]:
Yeah. Right. Right. And then the Eagle helicopter came in that night as well, and then they eventually found him up a tree somewhere. He’s been running around for a couple hours.
Chris [00:10:32]:
So would he hear body cam of that? The the cop?
Sam [00:10:35]:
Please don’t have body cams.
Chris [00:10:36]:
They don’t have body cam today.
Sam [00:10:37]:
No. Worried about the
Chris [00:10:39]:
Still crazy. It’s still
Sam [00:10:41]:
it’s awesome. I I think people think it’s The privacy thing, but I literally think it’s the storage Alright. Of it is their biggest hiccup. But there’s a lot of things that they should have. They should at least have the cameras on the cars, I think.
Chris [00:10:55]:
They don’t have dash cams?
Sam [00:10:56]:
No. Oh. Dash cams will affect the radio.
Chris [00:11:00]:
Oh, that’s right. You have told me that. Anyway. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So, the good old Flintstone cops.
Sam [00:11:09]:
Yeah. Exactly. But we do have they they do have, fancy phone apps. They’re quite far ahead technologically, apparently, according to the rest of the world. With some of the stuff they bring out Yeah. For the cops to use. They just don’t use things like that. Hey, you you’ve seen The Weekend at Bernie’s on the bank loan?
Chris [00:11:26]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do you
Sam [00:11:27]:
see the video?
Chris [00:11:28]:
No. I didn’t watch the video.
Sam [00:11:30]:
There was a video I sam, right? So chris woman, her uncle died, I assume, and she’s like quick get him in the wheelchair or maybe he was in the The. I don’t know.
Chris [00:11:40]:
Tessa probably was already in a wheelchair by the sound sam it.
Sam [00:11:43]:
Who knows? Because then she takes him to the bank to get a bank loan and then she’s like in the The.
Chris [00:11:49]:
She’s And apparently because I only read it. The, the teller’s like, is he okay? He doesn’t look very well. She’s talking
Sam [00:11:56]:
to him. She’s like, okay. And then she goes, okay. I just need you to sign this. And she puts the pen in his hand, but then sort of holds it. And she’s like trying to write, like, with his hand. And then they’re like, oh, this doesn’t seem right. And then the cops come, and they’re like, yeah.
Sam [00:12:11]:
He’s been dead a couple of hours. Like, not long because he didn’t get stiff yet.
Chris [00:12:16]:
So she she was getting done for desecrating a corpse, I think it is, or something like The. And, yeah, attempted
Sam [00:12:24]:
Whatever. Fraud.
Chris [00:12:25]:
Fraud. Yeah. Whatever. Anyway, so that was in Brazil, by the way. Yes. For those that didn’t catch that. But, yeah, that’s that’s that’s insane. That’s just that just cracked me up.
Chris [00:12:35]:
I got I got one. This this is interesting. So this is a deadly aircraft crash in 2022. No Boeing? No. No. It’s it’s
Sam [00:12:46]:
it’s sam
Chris [00:12:46]:
small thing. It’s a small thing. In fact, it says the pilot of an experimental aircraft Yeah.
Sam [00:12:53]:
You know The stories are gonna end well when it starts like that. Experimental aircraft, experimental submarine. Whatever.
Chris [00:13:00]:
Amateur built, BearHawk patrol plane. So how come it’s called a BearHawk Patrol plane if it’s amateur built? I suppose maybe it’s a model kit.
Sam [00:13:08]:
Remember when that Model kit. Remember when that guy made his own hovercraft or something? Was it here in New Zealand?
Chris [00:13:15]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:13:15]:
And he got like his head ripped off? Anyway, he was super intelligent but, he built this without a cage on it. Carry on.
Chris [00:13:22]:
Yeah. So, anyway, so this guy, they they finally released the what what and, you know, the investigation. Yeah. That’s the word. That’s the word. Investigation. And, basically, imagine chris. You’re a passenger in the plane.
Chris [00:13:34]:
So chris The went up in the plane, I think, not the pilot. Somebody else went up, came back and and, no. It’s kicking. It’s when you turn, it does a jolt. It’s sort of kicks.
Sam [00:13:45]:
That’s not
Chris [00:13:46]:
Not a good thing. Okay. So he goes up with 2 people in the plane. Okay. Two passengers. Yeah. Good. And they said we sort you know, he was seen buckling in when he got in.
Chris [00:13:58]:
Okay. Yeah. But at the end
Sam [00:14:00]:
He’s not buckled in.
Chris [00:14:01]:
Not buckled in and it wasn’t broken or anything. It was unfastened. So what they think happened is he’s testing the tuning by sticking his head out the window Yes, he do. Under the butt Good. And then he fell out. Oh. And he hit the tail of the plane Yeah. Totally damaging it.
Chris [00:14:22]:
So the passengers had no
Sam [00:14:24]:
Chance.
Chris [00:14:24]:
Chance. Oh, my god. Just went plummeted straight and the ground. The the 2 passengers died. He obviously died.
Sam [00:14:30]:
That’d be the worst just seeing this guy get sucked out the
Chris [00:14:33]:
window like that. Window and goes, ah,
Sam [00:14:36]:
ah. Oh, no.
Chris [00:14:37]:
And, yeah, so, yeah, that was good. The only good news about that was it missed a school by a 100 meters or something. There was a bunch of kids or plates up or something.
Sam [00:14:45]:
If anybody has experimental machinery or anything, just don’t go near it. Okay? Yeah. Because you know that
Chris [00:14:53]:
I mean, you know, an experimental, I don’t know. Headphones are alright. Experimental microphone might be alright. Experimental thing that’s up in the air or under the sea, not alright. No. No.
Sam [00:15:08]:
There should be little red flags going off all around those.
Chris [00:15:12]:
They crack me up.
Sam [00:15:13]:
NASA has been asked to, join the search for the Loch Ness Monster What? From the 30th of the 30th May to The 2nd June because it’s the 90th anniversary of Sir Edward Mountain’s expedition. Last year, I didn’t know this, they had and of the largest searches of Loch Ness happened last year and they got a hydrophone they’ve got they’ve got this other search happening on the 90th anniversary of this other dude’s expedition and, they’ve sort of said, they’ve reached out to people at NASA. We’re hoping to reach them through the power of social media. We are just hoping for The expert guidance to help with their ongoing quest to get answers. We’ve gone to UK I
Chris [00:16:04]:
I can give them some answers. Yeah. Hang on.
Sam [00:16:08]:
They’ve gone to UK universities, and we are hoping that experts from NASA might have some advanced imaging technology to scan the lock. We would have to sit down and talk to them about how to get it here.
Chris [00:16:21]:
I I went to Loch Ness. I’ve been there. I’ve been to the visitor center. I did I I paddled in Loch Ness because really, really cold.
Sam [00:16:29]:
Was it a magical experience?
Chris [00:16:31]:
Well, it was fine except for that thing that popped out of the water. No. I mean, no. It was it was it was great. It’s it’s a great thing, thing, and it is a huge body of water. Mhmm. It really is. But, one of the things that make I find intriguing, and I don’t know if it’ll work for Loch Ness, but you know in the sea at the moment, they’re finding a lot of and mountains and underwater canyons Yes.
Chris [00:16:57]:
Through satellites looking at the water. Alright.
Sam [00:17:00]:
So Yep.
Chris [00:17:01]:
If there’s an underwater mountain, the sea level actually rises above it. Okay. It has a hump in the water. And because the satellites are so far up, they can measure that distance, and they go, oh, there’s a a long hump and, and then they send the Like a bridge. And they found the Oh, okay. Found The sea ridges in and. And I just wonder if there’s anything that might help with The for Loch Ness, but I don’t I can’t see how else NASA could help honestly.
Sam [00:17:29]:
Oh, who knows?
Chris [00:17:30]:
It’s really really deep. That’s the whole point. Anyway, I love this. I and The the I’ve I’ve only got a couple of quick ones because it’s really all about the headlines.
Sam [00:17:41]:
Yeah. Well, that’s what
Chris [00:17:42]:
that’s what I’m interested. That’s how they get you. Yeah. But this one this one cracks me up because, so the Bronx tax prepare preparer has been charged by the IRS and a $100,000,000 and. But what gets me is his nickname. Okay. What’s your what what what’s a good tax accountant nickname?
Sam [00:18:02]:
I don’t know. Terry the The man.
Chris [00:18:03]:
The magician. No red flags there.
Sam [00:18:10]:
He’s got a certain client’s house. He’s doing it.
Chris [00:18:14]:
The magician. So, yeah, apparently, 60 year old engaged in a scheme to submit and of false tax returns for more than 10 years, stealing more than a $100,000,000. Crazy. Actually, I’m I’m woah. I’m on that. There’s another scammer here. Yeah. It’s a con man who swindled a and and he’s a And dual citizenship Canadian and French.
Chris [00:18:43]:
Yeah. He swindled a $175,000,000.
Sam [00:18:47]:
I saw the headline, and I thought, oh, my gosh. Look at this dude go. But it doesn’t know anything else.
Chris [00:18:51]:
Massive psychic, fraud scheme.
Sam [00:18:54]:
Yeah, of course.
Chris [00:18:54]:
He was sentenced 10 years. He’s 57 years old, but it’s all by letter. Mail fraud. Oh. Which is Okay. So that stuff still works, But basically, he’s, you know, he’s ripped off old people.
Sam [00:19:09]:
Yeah. I think that stuff works in America because there’s just so many people there.
Chris [00:19:13]:
Yeah. Yeah. And he was using the US. He was ripping off US even though he didn’t look at it.
Sam [00:19:18]:
But that’s pretty big over The, mail fraud, isn’t it? Yeah. It’s pretty serious chris.
Chris [00:19:23]:
What did he say though? I’ve got it written it’s down here somewhere. He says, I used to live like a rock star. He made a freaking
Sam [00:19:30]:
Oh, you would.
Chris [00:19:30]:
Out of it.
Sam [00:19:31]:
You would.
Chris [00:19:32]:
But he said here, The most lucrative years of the Maria Duvall, and was pretending to be this famous psychic, Maria Duvals, whoever I don’t know who that is.
Sam [00:19:42]:
Yeah. Okay.
Chris [00:19:43]:
Later business from and to and, when he made up to 23,000,000 in a single year.
Sam [00:19:50]:
Far out. Well, now much is outgoings worth just for sending stuff?
Chris [00:19:54]:
Yeah. I think it’s negligible The be honest.
Sam [00:19:57]:
No. No. But like it’s a gamble to begin with.
Chris [00:20:00]:
Yeah. That’s true.
Sam [00:20:01]:
Like even if he’s he must have a little bit of money just
Chris [00:20:03]:
to start up I guess. I just want to see this quote. Basically he said,
Sam [00:20:08]:
I like the money.
Chris [00:20:11]:
Damn it.
Sam [00:20:12]:
You can never find the quote when
Chris [00:20:14]:
you need it. You never find the quote. Basically, he said something to the effect of, you know, it’s it’s maybe not moral and it maybe not, good business, but it’s not fraud.
Sam [00:20:27]:
Fair enough.
Chris [00:20:27]:
Yeah. Like, Yeah. No. It is. So you’re going to jail.
Sam [00:20:31]:
Oh. So hey. Oh, there
Chris [00:20:33]:
it is. Maybe it’s not moral. Maybe it’s bullshit, he said. But it doesn’t mean it’s fraud.
Sam [00:20:37]:
Think it does.
Chris [00:20:38]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:20:38]:
I think you’re wrong, mate. Says the man that’s in jail for 10 years.
Chris [00:20:42]:
Good onk. Good onk. Yep.
Sam [00:20:44]:
A bunch of Beardo’s. That’s their name. That’s what they’ve decided to call
Chris [00:20:47]:
themselves. Okay.
Sam [00:20:49]:
Bunch of Beardo’s, from Beard Team USA Okay. Broke a world record. Now this they have they they hold it all around the country different years. So this, last year I think November it was in Florida. And, what do you think the record was? The longest combined beard? Yes. Beard chain. Oh. So these guys got really long beards and then they sort of just tie them to each The.
Sam [00:21:14]:
So they split it and then tie it to the person next to them.
Chris [00:21:17]:
That’s just
Sam [00:21:18]:
How many people do you think they got to break the record?
Chris [00:21:21]:
Oh, so it’s the number of people, not the length for that. Oh, okay. That makes more sense.
Sam [00:21:24]:
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Chris [00:21:26]:
A couple of and?
Sam [00:21:28]:
No. 89. 89 people. Beardo’s is what they called themselves. And it’s, yeah. The same The 60 meters is the length of these people. But it all depends on how long the beard is so they just sort of stretch out I
Chris [00:21:44]:
guess. Yeah. So the beard has to tie to itself or do they tie it with
Sam [00:21:49]:
oh, man. You’re asking a lot of technical questions. It looks like it’s just tied
Chris [00:21:53]:
and or or braids or whatever.
Sam [00:21:55]:
I don’t know. I’m sure the Guinness World Records will tell me. I keep seeing weird Guinness World Records pop up on my Facebook feed.
Chris [00:22:03]:
What are they?
Sam [00:22:04]:
Yeah. They have they they’re putting these little videos together and there was one of The. For the life of me, I can’t remember what it was. It was just the weirdest thing.
Chris [00:22:12]:
Good story. Yeah. I know. I know.
Sam [00:22:15]:
I didn’t realize I was gonna be, talking about The. Actually. But, yeah.
Chris [00:22:20]:
Not fair.
Sam [00:22:20]:
What crashed through a Florida home’s roof? I don’t think there’d be
Chris [00:22:26]:
bit of a bowing. I think that’s a good guess.
Sam [00:22:30]:
It it is a good guess. And I think if you were at home and something came right through your roof and then basically into the floor as well, it’d be pretty scary,
Chris [00:22:41]:
Oh, hell yeah. And and you go, first thought would be meteorite.
Sam [00:22:45]:
Well, that’s right. So it was a mystery object and NASA has confirmed The, yes, it was from the space station.
Chris [00:22:52]:
Oh, from the space station?
Sam [00:22:54]:
Yeah. It was a metal support used to mount old batteries on a cargo pellet for disposal. They jettisoned it from space station in 2021. They thought it was eventually gonna be, fully burn up but and piece survived. And this chunk of metal just went through their house.
Chris [00:23:12]:
Holy. It looks like the size of a a mortar shell. Yeah.
Sam [00:23:17]:
Yeah. I was shaking, what the chance of something landing on my house was such forced to cause so much damage.
Chris [00:23:24]:
Yeah. But it’s not an act of God, so I’m sorry. You’re not going to be able to get injured.
Sam [00:23:30]:
That’s right.
Chris [00:23:31]:
That’s right. Probably. Probably. Hey. This cracked me up because it it just I heard I’ve just read The headline again, and it’s just like, duh is is the only response I’ve got. Okay. So Missouri in the states, they repealed legislation saying that you have to have wear a helmet if you ride a motorbike.
Sam [00:23:57]:
Okay.
Chris [00:23:57]:
And guess what happened?
Sam [00:23:59]:
Straight away.
Chris [00:24:00]:
Deaths rose dramatically.
Sam [00:24:02]:
Oh, wow. What a surprise.
Chris [00:24:03]:
That’s that’s unbelievable. Who would have guessed it? Like anybody would have guessed it. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. So I don’t know if they’re gonna change it or not, but the fatalities have increased and. So that’s dumb. That’s it. That’s America, though. They just do the dumbest stuff.
Chris [00:24:24]:
That’s like they’re going backwards so much.
Sam [00:24:26]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:24:27]:
Totally. Anyway.
Sam [00:24:28]:
Did you ever play the game And Wake?
Chris [00:24:31]:
No. I saw the story and I’m like, I don’t know what that is.
Sam [00:24:35]:
Well, yeah. So it sounds like, Alan Wake was up there with the games back in and. It’s a horror shooter. It’s supposed to be really good. Spooky smart with a sharp tongue and cheek sense of humor that remains one of the most sorry, one of the must play horror games of the past 15 years. And then Alan Wake 2 improved upon it. So this person goes on Ebay and a store, old store that’s closed down, I guess, or something has 4,000 of these game codes on cards and this person, Alyssa, goes, you know what? I’m a big fan of that game. I will buy that.
Sam [00:25:16]:
So for $240, she gets these 2 giant boxes of printed cards with codes on it and you can download the original And Wake game.
Chris [00:25:25]:
Right. How how old is the game?
Sam [00:25:28]:
2010. 2010. Alright. But they she contacts Microsoft, I think it is, and says, The. And she gets sam, it took him a couple of months to come from the USA to Finland where she is. She’s got all these boxes. She’s trying these cards. Nothing works.
Sam [00:25:45]:
Talks to Microsoft customer support and they’re like, you know what? They would never activate it at the store level. So they’re useless. You can’t do anything with them. But she goes, oh, that’s okay. The long answer is I’m currently in the process of making a fan video which is inspired by the live action cinematics in the game and I think I can use a bunch of them in there. Otherwise, I’ll just stick them on the wall. It’ll look pretty cool.
Chris [00:26:15]:
Good. Good old Finland, very pragmatic people.
Sam [00:26:19]:
That’s right. And The saw this There’s a video on this as well. They where’d The go? This woman was hogging a gym machine in Mexico. This other woman didn’t like it so they got into a bit of a fight. As you do, ripped her off, dragged and down the gym bio here, all that stuff, and then bit her finger off. The other one bit her finger. The tip of her finger.
Chris [00:26:44]:
Actually, I wasn’t gonna mention it, but I saw that as well. John was it John Wayne Bobbitt? John
Sam [00:26:50]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What’s his what what I saw I can’t remember the headline now.
Chris [00:26:56]:
So back in the day,
Sam [00:26:57]:
his wife Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:26:59]:
Cut his knob off. Yeah.
Sam [00:27:01]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:27:02]:
So he’s just lost his toes.
Sam [00:27:07]:
That’s right.
Chris [00:27:07]:
Because of the polluted water and Lake Lejeune or whatever. Yeah. Yep. Yep.
Sam [00:27:14]:
So it’s good to see he’s still relevant.
Chris [00:27:15]:
He’s he yeah. So they just call him Stumpy now.
Sam [00:27:19]:
Yeah. That’s right. Alright. That almost brings us to
Chris [00:27:22]:
the end
Sam [00:27:22]:
of the
Chris [00:27:23]:
podcast. What
Sam [00:27:24]:

Chris [00:27:27]:
I I I was hoping this week I’d be real busy, but the, the person Is
Sam [00:27:34]:
the dude on holiday still?
Chris [00:27:35]:
No. He’s back, but he’s decided that he’s gonna do it himself because it’s gotta be done this week. So I’m like, I’m doing nothing.
Sam [00:27:41]:
Oh, no.
Chris [00:27:42]:
So hopefully next week I’ll get something, but that’s alright. Yeah. And I’m working on a different workshop for myself to do. But, yeah, no. That’s that’s all I’m up to. Nothing nothing too flash.
Sam [00:27:54]:
I’m going to Tauranga on the weekend. It’s my niece’s birthday, So I go see what’s happening there.
Chris [00:27:59]:
How old are you?
Sam [00:28:01]:
15.
Chris [00:28:02]:
Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:28:03]:
Yep. And, yeah. Should be good.
Chris [00:28:06]:
Oh, that’d be cool.
Sam [00:28:07]:
See if I have some stories from there. I will not be going on any children’s, toys. Okay. So injured myself again.
Chris [00:28:15]:
