Sam [00:00:21]:
Hello and welcome to episode 562 of the Chris and Sam podcast.
Chris [00:00:25]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:00:26]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fixer, Randomist, technology and life. And for everybody that’s new. We’re two guys from New Zealand. Every week we talk for 30 minutes. This is our first episode for 2026.
Chris [00:00:36]:
Yeah. So we have not caught up for a couple of weeks because Sam went down to Christchurch, I went down to Wellington.
Sam [00:00:43]:
I know normally one of us doesn’t go anywhere.
Chris [00:00:46]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we’re both away. I’ll tell you a bit about my bus trip. Hey. Okay. I took the bus to Poururua, so. So dad’s in Te Tahi Bay so I went down to stay with him. The bus ride from Hamilton to Te Tahi Bay or to Kororua is nine hours.
Chris [00:01:00]:
Yeah. What could go wrong?
Sam [00:01:02]:
How fast could you do it in a car?
Chris [00:01:04]:
6Y. Pretty much. Pretty much. So anyway, it was over 30 minutes late to leave Hamilton.
Sam [00:01:12]:
But you knew it was late.
Chris [00:01:14]:
No, I didn’t. I got there well early.
Sam [00:01:16]:
No, but did you think you’d missed it?
Chris [00:01:18]:
I, because I got there well early. I was like, oh no, I’m here, I’m here, I’m here. And then other buses were coming and I was like maybe I missed it, how can I miss it? But anyway, what happened? I’m going to tell you because I found out what happened just before it got to Ham. I think it was around Huntley. So it’s coming down from Auckland. There was a couch on a trailer in front of the, in front of the bus and the wind caught it and lifted it up and it hit the bus and crack the fairing. Which you can imagine because this is a big double decker bus thingy.
Sam [00:01:52]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:01:53]:
So. So that was. All right. So that’s cool. Anyway, I get. So I was the first one there and then all these other people turned up and some of them were getting on the other buses but there was this, this Muslim family.
Sam [00:02:04]:
Okay.
Chris [00:02:04]:
And they got so much luggage.
Sam [00:02:09]:
All right.
Chris [00:02:09]:
So much like. So I was paranoid that I’ve got my laptop in a bag and I’ve got my little carrier suitcase which would fit in an air up above.
Sam [00:02:20]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:02:20]:
And I was worried that was too much. These guys had so much. And this little bus driver, he was quite small actually. He had. Apparently he’d had some other guy in Manukau come on another Family with like a house full of gear and this.
Sam [00:02:37]:
Is there a limit? Because I’ve never thought about it.
Chris [00:02:40]:
It has to be one 10kg thing that you put in the thing and carry on.
Sam [00:02:45]:
Yeah, okay.
Chris [00:02:46]:
You know, these guys had way more.
Sam [00:02:48]:
Oh, wow.
Chris [00:02:48]:
And so it was a whole nightmare. Anyway, I ended up talking and a shout out to. Oh, gosh. I didn’t write his name down, but he goes by ntercityman5024 on TikTok.
Sam [00:03:02]:
Okay. So. Yep.
Chris [00:03:04]:
And he’ll be listening to this podcast, no doubt.
Sam [00:03:06]:
Hello.
Chris [00:03:07]:
So he was. He does the night. Night run. And he did the night run up to Auckland to. What do you call it? Fill in for somebody else. So he was filling in, went up.
Sam [00:03:23]:
To Auckland the night before, and he’s driving the bus.
Chris [00:03:25]:
He drove the bus up and then he’s in the back with me coming down. And it was interesting because it was set up like a train. So in the bus, the two chairs are facing each other. Oh, so there’s two seats. Two seats. There used to, apparently used to be tables with no tables in there. Two seats facing each other, then two, two on the other side. So it ends up being quite communal.
Chris [00:03:49]:
You end up having chats with people. So this guy, he was like trying to sleep a little bit because he was, you know, he driven up the night before, but he’s getting the free bus back down because he lives in po and so. So into city man 50 24. We. We had a good chat. I have to tell you the story. So I said, so what’s the craziest thing? Because, you know, know, we’re podcasters, we ask these stupid questions. What’s the craziest thing? They happen.
Chris [00:04:14]:
He goes, I remember I was going up to Auckland and I had this German guy and I took him from Wellington to Auckland, and he was sitting right behind me in the, you know, like, I’m in the driver’s seat and he’s right next to me or behind me or whatever. And about the time we got to Hamilton, he got all upset. He was like, where are the cows? Where are the cows? I was told by my friend I would see millions of cows, and I haven’t seen a single cow. This guy’s like, the bus driver’s like, dude, it’s nighttime. You can’t see that. You can’t see the fields. Like, what do you mean? And he’s sitting there tapping against the window, I want to see cows. I want to see cows.
Chris [00:04:57]:
And I was like, was this guy on something? He goes, no, he was just serious. He was so serious about it. He said, when we got to the Auckland, I. I unloaded everybody’s luggage except his. I left his till last so I could have a word with him. I said, hey, if you want to go over there, you can buy a ticket back to Wellington and get the day bus back and you’ll see millions of pounds.
Sam [00:05:22]:
Some people want to see what they want to see and if they don’t, they get upset.
Chris [00:05:25]:
And it was funny too, because he was saying on his trip the night before going up to Auckland, he got stopped, breathalyzed and drug tested.
Sam [00:05:35]:
All right.
Chris [00:05:36]:
I didn’t think they’d stop a bus. Well, I mean, I’m not complaining that they did, but I was a bit surprised. But anyway, very good.
Sam [00:05:43]:
Yeah, I was in Christchurch, couple of things. The airport down there is putting in, I don’t know, millions of dollars into solar to power the airport.
Chris [00:05:54]:
Oh, okay.
Sam [00:05:55]:
So when you fly in, there’s acres and acres and acres of solar farm and half of it has the panels and the rest hasn’t been put up, like as far as the eye can see. It’s the most solar panels that you’ve ever seen.
Chris [00:06:06]:
To me. Wouldn’t that be blinding flying for the pilot? Do you know what I mean? No, seriously, I don’t know that. I mean, obviously they think about these things. You’d hope.
Sam [00:06:16]:
I don’t know, it’s really impressive. Just thing. So that was cool. I think I saw definitely one museum, maybe two. Jeremy, I know you were keen on knowing about that.
Chris [00:06:27]:
Did you get out to Littleton and see Jeremy?
Sam [00:06:29]:
No, no, I drove past Littleton, through Littleton. We did not stop for some reason.
Chris [00:06:35]:
Okay.
Sam [00:06:36]:
Don’t know what that trip was about, to be honest. Bit weird.
Chris [00:06:40]:
We’ll talk about that later.
Sam [00:06:41]:
What I did deal with though on the way back was people that are on the spectrum or special needs. I don’t know what they are so enthusiastic about. Whatever.
Chris [00:06:51]:
Yes.
Sam [00:06:52]:
So on the way back on New Year’s Day, flying Jetstar, shout out to them. Their food’s really good, eh? There’s a dude in track pants in a hoodie and jandals, he’s a bit scruffy looking and he’s sort of sitting. He’s talking to the. The people before we even get on the plane. And he gets on the plane and he’s right up the front by himself, but not the very front seat. He must be in B, not A. And he says, oh, hey, can I sit here? And they’re like, no, we need you to stay there to help balance out the plane. Okay, cool.
Sam [00:07:23]:
And he seems excitable, I guess is the term.
Chris [00:07:28]:
And so it’s a fairly empty flight.
Sam [00:07:29]:
No, packed. Absolutely packed. Except for the front two rows either side.
Chris [00:07:34]:
Okay. Yeah, it seems a bit.
Sam [00:07:35]:
But we are flying big ass jets now because we’re international at Hamilton.
Chris [00:07:39]:
Yes.
Sam [00:07:39]:
So it’s a big plane.
Chris [00:07:40]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:07:41]:
But the front two rows, it’s just got this one guy and one person on the other side. Anyway, we’re literally taking off and he wants to know when he get his piece and like, hang on. When the light. We’ll sort you out, mate. So anyway, that’s all good. And I think they give him something else. I don’t know. Anyway, when we come into land and.
Chris [00:07:59]:
Where are you in relation to this dude? Like the road behind or something?
Sam [00:08:02]:
I’m in like row five. Oh, yeah, yeah. So I’m pretty close to this dude and so that’s all good. And he’s sort of looking out the window and he’s filming and stuff. And he. That is what he’s doing. And he gets up and. Cause the plane lands and he gets up and.
Sam [00:08:17]:
Oh, the whole flight crew’s male by the way too. So there’s like three dudes coming and going. And this guy goes, oh, oh, man. I just, I’m just. I’ve just been filming it. Hey, I’m a YouTuber. I’m a YouTuber. I’ve got 19k followers.
Sam [00:08:33]:
19k, yeah. So good. And he’s talking to this head steward guy and he’s like, okay. And he goes, oh, you want to be on my video? Do you want to be on my video? I’m doing it now. I’m on the video now. He’s holding up his phone and the guy’s like, okay, cool, cool, cool. And he goes, oh, yeah.
Chris [00:08:50]:
Oh.
Sam [00:08:50]:
And he’s talking to his phone. He goes, oh, they gave me a Coke. I got this Coke, a pie and a sausage roll. Yeah. I was like, okay. And then he sort of looks at everyone on the plane because we’re all looking at him. He goes, it’s okay, guys, they have to let me off first. Oh, yeah, I’m on YouTube too.
Sam [00:09:05]:
He’s like, okay. And then.
Chris [00:09:08]:
And Sam’s taking notes. This is how I’ve got to do it the next time I’m on a plane.
Sam [00:09:12]:
Well, so then. So then the steward guy is waiting for the door to be able to undo the door.
Chris [00:09:19]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:09:20]:
And they’re unloading us at the back and the front but at the front, they’re just pushing a staircase out to us. Yeah, this dude. Oh, oh, I know all the aviation tricks. I’m gonna shine the light. I’m gonna shine the light.
Chris [00:09:34]:
Everyone, shine the light.
Sam [00:09:36]:
Yes. So he. He goes over to the window where he was sitting, and he’s like doing something with his phone. And I think he’s turned his flashlight on and he’s going, yeah, I’m shining the light. And he sounds just like this. I’m not even exaggerating. And he gets back up, and he’s talking to the guy, and he goes, oh, don’t worry, man. I’ll shine the light.
Sam [00:09:55]:
And the guy’s, okay. And so this dude, this YouTube guy, I think he is signaling the people outside that it’s good to bring the staircase up, but they’re doing something else. So he goes, oh, I gotta shine the light again. So he goes over and does it again. Oh, they saw it. It’s all good, mate. They saw it. We’re getting off.
Sam [00:10:20]:
So then.
Chris [00:10:21]:
So you and Sarah are just sitting here watching this.
Sam [00:10:24]:
Everyone is. He pulled out a card, and he was showing the guy a card, and it wasn’t an ID card. It was like just a. I think it was like a frequent flyer card or something similar. And I don’t know why he was showing him that. But he turns to the guy and the door opened and he goes, oh, is she gonna take me to the terminal? And he goes, no, no, I am. Oh, okay then. And he turned.
Sam [00:10:52]:
I’m sorry, guys, I just gotta get off first. So obviously you don’t want this guy. Free range at the airport.
Chris [00:10:59]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So he’ll be running onto the air, the landing strip. Oh, here comes a plane.
Sam [00:11:09]:
So the steward guy takes him all the way into the airport to where the luggage is. It’s very packed at the Hamilton luggage thing. Cause you come in through the back now. And it’s just. Everyone’s just standing there like this. This dude just pushes through everyone grabs his big trolley. I’ve got two bags, okay? And then there’s a random luggage handler there. There’s also a cop there.
Sam [00:11:32]:
Cause they must be international, must be coming in. And I actually know the cop. So I said hi to him and I was like, oh, man, don’t please Taser him. Anyway.
Chris [00:11:44]:
Is that taser loose in your holster there?
Sam [00:11:47]:
So he’s got his luggage trolley thing and he’s talking to this other guy and he’s. Oh, man, it’s so good.
Chris [00:11:54]:
Other guy, just some rando no, he’s.
Sam [00:11:56]:
A airport baggage handler. Baggage handler, I think, just standing there in the back. And they must have all been told this guy was there, because it seemed like they sort of knew. And he goes, oh, yeah. Now the guy. You know what? Every. All the stewards, all the people that you. They all follow me on YouTube.
Sam [00:12:13]:
They all knew who I was. It was so good. And he goes. He’s gone to see if my taxis arrived for me. Like, the steward’s not even on the plane. He’s outside the airport, which I thought was weird.
Chris [00:12:25]:
This is what you get in Hamilton. This is the service people that you get in Hamilton and I.
Sam [00:12:31]:
And anyway, so that was all good. And then at some point, he jumps on the phone. I think he’s video calling someone and he’s like, hey, I’m in Hamilton.
Chris [00:12:40]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:12:40]:
Nah, it was the roughest turbulence I’ve ever had in my life. It was so crazy. I don’t know what flight he was on, but it wasn’t the one I was on. And he goes, I’ve been awake for 24 hours. I saw all the fireworks in Christchurch. I filmed that too. Yeah. The guy’s just gone to see if my taxi’s here.
Sam [00:13:00]:
I gotta wait for my bag.
Chris [00:13:02]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:13:03]:
OT has organized a taxi for me. And OT is usually the people that look after children in foster care and stuff like that. Like. And. But this dude.
Chris [00:13:16]:
I was gonna say, how old is this dude, mate?
Sam [00:13:19]:
Between 22 and 30 maybe.
Chris [00:13:24]:
Right.
Sam [00:13:24]:
Anyway, so he’s doing that, a bag comes out and there’s a random strap on the conveyor belt. And it’s funny because the strap is identical to the first bag. Another rando guy goes and gets the first bag, but leaves the strap, which looks like it’s the missing strap off his bag. But whatevs. Goes around and then the special dude picks it up and just throws it on the ground. Anyway, the real kicker was when he explained to people who he was. His name was Sam. And I can’t find his YouTube channel.
Sam [00:13:56]:
I can’t find anybody that’s posted within the last week arriving in Hamilton. Flying Crush. So he may not actually have a YouTube channel. I don’t know.
Chris [00:14:06]:
Okay, that’s. That’s a pretty good story, bro.
Sam [00:14:09]:
I’m.
Chris [00:14:10]:
I’m gonna. This is.
Sam [00:14:12]:
This is.
Chris [00:14:12]:
I can’t compete with this, but I am going to tell you about Coronation Gate, okay? I’m calling it Coronation Gate because you will not believe how many times over the week I was there after this happened. Dad brought it up. Dad brought this up. When we caught up with different members of the family, he brought it up every opportunity. Coronation gate.
Sam [00:14:34]:
Fill me in. I want to know now. So it sounds like something I need to know.
Chris [00:14:37]:
He’s watching coronations.
Sam [00:14:38]:
I didn’t even know it was still on, but.
Chris [00:14:40]:
Yes, I know, I know. And I’m. I think I was just sitting. I was in the lounge, but I was. I was mucking around on my phone, you know, like, I was not watching coronations.
Sam [00:14:49]:
No.
Chris [00:14:49]:
And he goes, oh, my God, what’s happening? What’s happening with the tv? What’s happening with tv? And I’m like, oh, what’s up? And I look up and there’s like five different programs on at once or something.
Sam [00:15:02]:
Oh. And I’m like, so multiple channels.
Chris [00:15:04]:
Yeah, like multiple channels showing but one sound coming through, which is Coronation Street.
Sam [00:15:09]:
Okay.
Chris [00:15:10]:
And these two guys going, well, we want to do this, you know, Rah, rah, rah. Normal conversation. I’m like, what the hell’s going on? So I grabbed them remote and I’m playing around with it. I’m like, I can’t get it to work right.
Sam [00:15:20]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:15:21]:
And then. And then I’m like. Because I’m. He’s got a smart tv.
Sam [00:15:24]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:15:25]:
And I don’t know. Smart tv.
Sam [00:15:27]:
No, no. Yeah.
Chris [00:15:28]:
So I’m playing around. I’m like, okay, no, we’re on the right channel. I went to other channels. It seemed right. It went back to this. Oh, no, look, it’s good now. Da, da, da, da, da. Oh, it’s happened again.
Sam [00:15:37]:
Hang on. Is he touching the remote?
Chris [00:15:39]:
No.
Sam [00:15:40]:
Okay.
Chris [00:15:40]:
I’m like, what the hell’s going on? I was. It was driving me insane. I looked at it and went, hang on. No. Because it. It didn’t look right, but looked. Well, I couldn’t figure it out. Anyway, so he was raging about this.
Chris [00:15:55]:
And then a little bit later on, I start watching the freaking Coronation Street. What’s going on? And it’s like, oh, they’ve gone to the police station. Because, you know, there was this argument and stuff. And then the police station, he goes, what’s going on with the TV now? And it’s got the little recording in the little battery thing in the corner. I’m like, oh, they’re showing it from the point of view of the interview camera. And then showing it from the point of view of the security camera. Security camera. And then they’re showing it in the point of view of the body cam as the cops walking along.
Chris [00:16:29]:
And then we go back to the fight and the Guy had put cameras all over the house and it was showing all the cameras in the house. And he goes, so dad’s 80 this year. He’s going to be 80 this year. He goes, how am I supposed to know that? And I’m like, honestly, I agree with you and I am sure that there are hundreds or thousands of 80 year olds around the country going, what the hell’s wrong with my tv? Because it fooled me. Oh, it’s like this makes no sense because Coronation street has a format, right, which is pretty much unchanged for 50 odd years.
Sam [00:17:03]:
They’re branching out into new filmmaking styles.
Chris [00:17:07]:
This Christmas special or whatever the hell it was, the director’s gone. I’m going to make some choices.
Sam [00:17:14]:
That’s crazy.
Chris [00:17:16]:
I haven’t looked it up because I meant to before this podcast, but I haven’t looked it up because I am sure there is a Coronation Gate thing going on somewhere where people are like, what happened with Coronation street craziness? So if any of our listeners watch Coronation street, please get in touch with us on Facebook or whatever and let me know what your experience was and whether you went, what the hell’s happening on my tv? Or, you know, whether you just think me and dad are a bit senile.
Sam [00:17:47]:
That’s right. There’s a couple of fake cops been cruising around over the holidays. I’ve seen two different stories in county, counties, Manukau. There’s a guy who allegedly impersonated police officer. He. He was trying to pull up an unmarked police car. So the cops in the actual police car were like, that car looks weird. Those lights aren’t right.
Sam [00:18:08]:
And yeah, it was a guy that was two times over the limit. And then a different incident. Like, I literally think it was three days later. Another guy joined a convoy of police cars somewhere and they were like, who’s this dude? They’re like, he’s not a cop. And I think he had meth in the car, a loaded pistol under the seat and was off his face and he’s just like, yeah. So that’s been happening.
Chris [00:18:35]:
So he just. In a normal car.
Sam [00:18:37]:
No, I think they’re like buying old ex police cars. So it looks like an undercover car. It didn’t really go into it. I assume they’re probably slapping aerials and stuff on it. I don’t know.
Chris [00:18:50]:
Why would you do that and carry meth in the car? That’s the dumbest.
Sam [00:18:54]:
Well, they’re on it. They don’t know what’s going on.
Chris [00:18:56]:
Speaking of dumb. Yeah, I like this. This is. I don’t want to get into the Trump stuff very much, but this was funny because it’s all stupid. It’s so stupid. But there’s the right. One of the writers from South Park. Have you heard this story?
Sam [00:19:08]:
No.
Chris [00:19:09]:
So when Trump took over and he started waffling on about this Kennedy center and he was going to get on the board of Kennedy, this writer, I don’t remember his name, he’s like, he’s not the. One of the main two guys. One of the writers, he went, he’s going to name it, isn’t he? So he went and bought Trump. Kennedycenter.org Yes. And Trump, I think another Trump Center, Kennedy Center.something. and so he’s been trolling them hard on there. So if you look up trump kennedycenter.org I don’t know what it is now because it changes all the time.
Sam [00:19:43]:
Okay.
Chris [00:19:44]:
But yeah, I was like, that’s class. So he did it before he changed the name. He did it like he bought that domain like two months before he changed the name, just on the off chance that he changed the name to that and of course he did.
Sam [00:19:58]:
Okay. So it says, a national institution devoted to power and loyalty. The next event, ring in the new year with a performance by the Epstein dancers. Good, good. No, that’s clever. I wish more people would do the domain, whatever you call it.
Chris [00:20:20]:
And I, I have to mention this. I caught up with Carl today, and Carl’s. Cal’s got his new business, you know, and he’s doing AI research and stuff. And he. Yes, he’s. He’s got a client in the States. He says to me, don’t ever work with a client in the States. He goes, okay, just doing that.
Chris [00:20:38]:
Well, didn’t mean it like that, but just doing the. What they have to do for the IRS and all the things. And he goes, I’ve just been. He said, thank God I had AI to fill out these forms because if I had to do it all myself, it would have been eight hours. He said, but look at this one he showed me because he’d take a photo of it and it was, ah, so for payment, do you want to be bank transfer or swift payment? Okay, but just so you know, bank transfers cannot exceed $99,999,999.
Sam [00:21:14]:
Because that comes up all the time, you know?
Chris [00:21:16]:
And I was like, dude, I’d just say if it’s over that, I’ll just take two payments, bro. Yeah, we’ll split it.
Sam [00:21:21]:
Just split it.
Chris [00:21:22]:
If it’s 100 mil, just split it into two payments, we’re all good.
Sam [00:21:28]:
But it has to come up.
Chris [00:21:30]:
Yeah. He had said he had to tick a box on that. Are you going to be paid under 100 million?
Sam [00:21:36]:
No. That has to be how many digits? It probably can’t do any more digits.
Chris [00:21:41]:
And it takes three days longer if it’s the bigger number.
Sam [00:21:44]:
Ah, good.
Chris [00:21:46]:
I’m not sure I can wait three days for my hundred million. Although I did point out that the interest on three days worth of 100 million is probably not to be sneezed at.
Sam [00:21:56]:
Yeah. But yeah, who cares? Like at that point, who cares? Did you hear about the self landing emergency for a plane system?
Chris [00:22:07]:
No.
Sam [00:22:07]:
No. So Garmin makes a whole bunch of plane stuff.
Chris [00:22:10]:
Okay.
Sam [00:22:10]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:22:11]:
Like I didn’t know that.
Sam [00:22:12]:
Navigation aids and stuff. But they also have a platform that will land the plane for you and it’s installed in like 1700 small Cessnas and stuff like that. Yeah. And somewhere in the States. Don’t have the exact thing in front of me. The plane started to think that it needed to use it and the two pilots just said okay. And they didn’t do anything. So I think they’re trying to figure out if they’re in trouble or not.
Sam [00:22:37]:
But the plane did land perfectly by itself. The system worked as intended. But this is the first time ever, outside of testing that it did it. So they were like, oh, that’s pretty cool. But apparently it’s a big thing when you’re not incapacitated to not fly the plane.
Chris [00:22:55]:
You imagine it like if you were behind the wheel shining the light. Yeah, well, you know, shine the light. No, if you’re behind the wheel of a car. Yeah. I, I would still feel weird with autonomous driving, even though I know mentally it’s a thing. Like, logically I know it’s a thing. I would struggle not to touch that wheel.
Sam [00:23:16]:
Yes. But a lot of those cars don’t have a wheel. The full one.
Chris [00:23:20]:
True. Yeah. Because Waymo’s doing so well at the moment because they’re up to hundreds of millions of miles.
Sam [00:23:27]:
All right.
Chris [00:23:28]:
Of driving. Whereas Tesla and the other one. I forget what the other one was called, was, Are in the hundreds of thousands, you know, getting to a million.
Sam [00:23:41]:
But I think the difference is Waymo’s got all the LIDAR and a million cameras.
Chris [00:23:45]:
Yeah. And each Waymo costs two and a half, $250,000 per car.
Sam [00:23:50]:
Okay.
Chris [00:23:51]:
And you know a Tesla is 40, 40, 50 grand. Yeah.
Sam [00:23:54]:
And got three. Or just some cameras on it.
Chris [00:23:56]:
You got some.
Sam [00:23:57]:
That’s hoping for the Best.
Chris [00:23:57]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sam [00:23:59]:
Craziness.
Chris [00:23:59]:
Cross your fingers.
Sam [00:24:02]:
You’re like, oh no. Hey, a while ago we talked about that semi sophisticated coffee machine scam where the guy brought it on Trade Me and then the other guy, he paid the other guy in crypto, but that actually hacked the Trade Me account.
Chris [00:24:15]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah, vaguely remember he actually.
Sam [00:24:17]:
Got his money back. He basically had to take Trade Me to disputes tribunal. And they were like, yeah, but not really our fault because the other person’s account and they’re like, yeah, but you don’t have two factor authentication. Yeah, but if something goes wrong, we’ll let you know. And the guy goes, apparently you work all weekend. But I couldn’t get hold of anyone. So, you know, so apparently the guy potentially could have gone after the Trade Me account holders a little bit as well. He hasn’t because he was just like, when you look at their, they hadn’t been used for multiple years.
Sam [00:24:54]:
They aren’t doing anything shady. But yeah, he got the full amount back and he was just like, I think he said something like, I’m just sticking with a little cheap machine now.
Chris [00:25:03]:
How much was it?
Sam [00:25:04]:
$4,700.
Chris [00:25:06]:
Yeah, yeah, I wrote this down and I don’t want to get into it, but I’m going to call it out a little bit. Hydrotechnz. Have you heard of that?
Sam [00:25:13]:
No, I don’t know. What do they do?
Chris [00:25:16]:
So there’s a lot of Facebook ads that I started seeing this hydrotech on and I was like, what is this? And I just couldn’t figure out what it was from the, the, the Facebook ads to begin with. Like it’s a water bottle for 50 bucks. Why would you pay 50 bucks for a water bottle?
Sam [00:25:30]:
I want three.
Chris [00:25:31]:
Yeah. And then I ended up on the website and I looked at it again later.
Sam [00:25:36]:
I’m looking at it now and it says turn every tap water into hydrogen rich hydration.
Chris [00:25:41]:
Yeah. And so apparently this bottle thing over adds hydrogen to your water. So you’re over hydrogenating your water and.
Sam [00:25:54]:
It sounds made up.
Chris [00:25:55]:
It look, it looks like scammy as.
Sam [00:25:57]:
It looks like it’s putting bubbles in your water.
Chris [00:25:59]:
Yeah, probably is. It’s scammy as anything. Just like who would.
Sam [00:26:05]:
If you’re listening to this podcast and then your phone starts showing you these ads. We’re sorry. Oh look, if you go to the website you can save 10 bucks.
Chris [00:26:12]:
49. Woohoo.
Sam [00:26:14]:
Oh look, look. When you drink this hydro, whatever this water is, you become a sexy ish woman. Ooh, that’s good. Yep. Day one the water tastes smoother. Day three, you got more focus, sharper. No brain fog, no coffee crash. Day seven, you get quicker recovery.
Sam [00:26:34]:
And then day 30, long term benefits. Oh, they’ve got Andrew Huberman here, he’s. Oh yeah, all these people, all these scientists quoting random little things. A family bundle. Oh, Jesus. 300, 329 dollars. What’s a protection? Okay, so if you want the drink bottle, a little pouch for it to go in, in another bag, that’s going to cost you $189.
Chris [00:26:58]:
Such a scam. I’m just like, dude, we are so much in the wrong business here.
Sam [00:27:03]:
Hey, but here’s the benefits. 3800 plus PP8. Sorry. PPB. Good. What? Why are you laughing? It’s third party tested at Double Ward Glass. It’s SPEM tech good. 30 day money back guarantee, 12 month warranty, fast shipping and you get customer support.
Sam [00:27:30]:
Okay, somebody’s found a, somebody’s found an electric water bottle on TEMU that I think just blows bubbles and may have a light built in. And they’ve built this thing all around it. So that’s good. Oh, and every order you get $1 express shipping. I bet that’s an extra dollar that they’ve taken off normal shipping. But let’s not get into it. I think you should buy one of these and then we’ll know.
Chris [00:27:59]:
I just looked at it and I was like, the first time, it’s a.
Sam [00:28:03]:
Light up drink bottle that puts bubbles in it.
Chris [00:28:05]:
I think I was on the bus driving back when I came across this. Cause I was scrolling through Facebook. Cause I don’t normally scroll through Facebook. And this ad kept coming up and I’m like. And I looked at it a few times and bear in mind I was probably a bit tired and not thinking very straight, but I was like, I don’t understand what this is, so that’s why I added it.
Sam [00:28:24]:
You need to read the facts and question.
Chris [00:28:27]:
I didn’t realize it had ppbs and stuff.
Sam [00:28:29]:
Oh, of course.
Chris [00:28:31]:
Thousands of ppbs apparently.
Sam [00:28:33]:
Okay.
Chris [00:28:36]:
So if you want to check that out, you can look it [email protected].
Sam [00:28:41]:
Look forward to us driving traffic.
Chris [00:28:43]:
And we are not sponsoring this and we are not suggesting you buy one. Don’t blame me.
Sam [00:28:48]:
But hydrotechnz.com if you want to send us one, we will put it through its paces. We will not put in other liquids because you’re not allowed to do that. We’ll only do water. And literally we will give honest feedback. Hit us up anyway. That brings us, oh, real Quick story to end this podcast. Yeah. Before Christmas, they did 12 Days of Christmas on Instagram.
Sam [00:29:10]:
And by them I mean every company in New Zealand. And I was entering them like a madman.
Chris [00:29:15]:
And oh, what have you won now?
Sam [00:29:17]:
That’s right, that’s right.
Chris [00:29:19]:
Sam is one of the jammiest winning all sorts of stuff ever people that I know.
Sam [00:29:24]:
So sometimes I just enter for the hell of entering and I just like playing those odds. I got someone I work with in on it and she didn’t win anything, but so now she’s got to unfollow all these accounts.
Chris [00:29:34]:
I didn’t realize I’ve got to unfollow Hawaiian Airlines. So I did the same thing.
Sam [00:29:39]:
Yeah, I didn’t realize I won something, to be honest, until I went into like, you know, messages and then message request and all this stuff and Instagram. I always forget that I’ve won a custom made Hydrotech. No, a custom made. Because they don’t normally make them. They’re making it and 10 people are getting these. I may not be using this product, but I’m getting one. 10 custom leather work belts for like builders. And it’s all pink and they’re like almost $300 thanks to Taurus.
Chris [00:30:11]:
Yeah, no, you should totally do that with the. And you can put the giant pumpkin logo on it and you can use it as your gardening implement tool belt.
Sam [00:30:21]:
No, no, Sarah’s keen to have it. So I was like, hey, guess what? I won you this pink tool belt.
Chris [00:30:26]:
Merry Christmas.
Sam [00:30:27]:
That’s right. Anyway, that brings us to the end of the podcast. Check out tcasp.tcasp.com. that’s where all our stuff is.
Chris [00:30:34]:
Yep, the Chris and Sam podcast. And yeah, welcome to the New Year. Hopefully our listeners in Venezuela are all happy and doing well.
Sam [00:30:46]:
If you have a crazy story from Christmas, we want to hear about it, get in touch. Okay? Until then, I’m Sam.
Chris [00:30:51]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:30:51]:
See ya.
Chris [00:30:52]:
