Sam [00:00:24]:
How’s it going? This is episode number

Chris [00:00:26]:
8. episode 8. Yeah.

Sam [00:00:27]:
Kristen same podcast. Woo hoo.

Chris [00:00:29]:
Yay. fireworks.

Sam [00:00:32]:
Yes. Not skyrocket. Yeah. You you now know there’s no known.

Chris [00:00:35]:
I now know that there aren’t skyrockets. Yeah. So the end of episode 7, I mentioned what do you call it? Oh, kick starter and stuff. Yes.

Sam [00:00:46]:
You wanna because I was interested

Chris [00:00:47]:
in finding out on how we’re going with

Sam [00:00:50]:
AFK.

Chris [00:00:51]:
AFK. f k, the gaming series. And we had a bit of a chat about this before the show, and I didn’t know that it was the second go around with this.

Sam [00:00:59]:
I just happened to be looking at it the other day. I because I always find it interesting to see how how close they are to their goal and hope they make it. But you can check out their previous kick status. So I clicked on a button. And

Chris [00:01:14]:
So down by his name, the the name of the person running the click click starter, it says previous kick starts or something like that, and you can click on that, and it’ll show you the other ones, which is great because it was for exactly the same thing. And what that means is you can look at what they did the first time, what they did the second time, and the second time’s an improved you can see what they did to improve it and use that for your own kick starter. I think that’s brilliant.

Sam [00:01:40]:
Most definitely. And it’s interesting because the very first one, they wanted $40,000 and the second one was only

Chris [00:01:44]:
15,000. Yeah. I don’t know how I I’ve actually wondered how they’re going to do what they’re planning to do with just 15,000. because You’d use it pretty quick. I yeah. I mean, it depends what you’re going to if you got some sponsors to little bits and pieces for you. But, yeah, you could you could burn through $15,000 for a a web series pretty quick.

Sam [00:02:07]:
I could burn through

Chris [00:02:07]:
$15,000

Sam [00:02:09]:
just doing anything.

Chris [00:02:12]:
Giant Pumpkins.

Sam [00:02:14]:
And I actually, anything I’ve been pulled up about some words I say.

Chris [00:02:19]:
Oh, yes. Yes.

Sam [00:02:20]:
I put ink on the end of ing words. Alright. I don’t realize I do it. Anything or anything? Yeah. Anything.

Chris [00:02:28]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:02:28]:
And everything is the 2 that I’ve been pulled up about. Sorry about that.

Chris [00:02:33]:
Yeah. Okay. That wasn’t me, by the way, but No.

Sam [00:02:36]:
No. It was one of our listeners.

Chris [00:02:37]:
Oh, really?

Sam [00:02:38]:
Yes. So a leading on from

Chris [00:02:41]:
So how are we doing with the AFK? So we got at the time, we’re recording this, They haven’t been funded yet. So the goal is 15,000. There are 11,861. I really hope they make it. I put in what I put in 25, I think.

Sam [00:02:56]:
You did say 25? Yeah.

Chris [00:02:58]:
So there’s 6 days to go. I’m really keen. I might have to I might have to do a bit of a push on social media and see if we can get it’s funded because I wanna see it, mate. I I love the pilot. I think it’s awesome.

Sam [00:03:09]:
Yeah. I think more people with 6 days to go should get behind

Chris [00:03:13]:
Yeah. Yep. So, hopefully, they’ll they’ll make their goal, but we will let everybody know when that has happened. So we thought we’d have a bit of a Drop kick and kick start.

Sam [00:03:25]:
Kick start or drop kick.

Chris [00:03:27]:
Okay. He he got it right.

Sam [00:03:28]:
Yeah. Chris is just saying words.

Chris [00:03:31]:
He made it up. the name that is. So anyway

Sam [00:03:34]:
So the first one we’re gonna come across is a brand new kick start. It’s still got 59 days to go. So you can get in there and, you know, be one of the core founders of this thing.

Chris [00:03:45]:
Right. We will be the core founder because it’s got 00 play

Sam [00:03:49]:
Well, that’s right. They only they only need a

Chris [00:03:51]:
£150,

Sam [00:03:52]:
which is not too bad. And then let’s just about it. It’s called shite the album. It’s the new next and new ESO Threshedpunk Epic with songs about monk a vauxhall Corsa, and contemporary issues that affect us all. Sorry. If you pledge £3 or more, they’ve only they don’t actually have much in the way of rewards. But if you are kind enough to pledge, you will be able to receive a pre release copy of the album, which be around 15 tracks of electro shite punk rock freshly written and recorded by the electric shite orchestra at the Dog House Studio Nottingham. it’ll be fast. It’ll be fun and will cause blindness. In those who

Chris [00:04:36]:
think too clearly.

Sam [00:04:37]:
It’s not even in those.

Chris [00:04:38]:
I know. He’s too clearly.

Sam [00:04:41]:
He can’t even write properly. Yeah. So the so there’s a few risks and challenges. And last time they put down 10 tracks in one recording session, and this time they know what to expect and how to use every minute constructively. The £150 will cover the cost of the studio time, and we will pay for your promo CDs as a thanks thank you gift. If we raise the 150, we will easily be able to put this record down. Easily.

Chris [00:05:09]:
Very easy. Yeah.

Sam [00:05:11]:
You know, everything can still kick off.

Chris [00:05:13]:
So that’s a bit of a drop kick, I’m afraid.

Sam [00:05:16]:
You don’t know that. It’s got 59 days to go. They might smash their target.

Chris [00:05:20]:
I I find this fascinating. I think Kickstarter and and the other crowdfunding platforms. some of the best marketing, what do you call it, laboratories out there. You know what I mean? Yeah. Definitely. I have an idea I’m going to try this, and we’ll see if people can buy it. So before before the start I I gotta say, before the start, I said, oh, well, we can’t just have shite the album, which is a dropkick, obviously. We will

Sam [00:05:49]:
look at one that’s

Chris [00:05:50]:
We’ll look at one that’s doing well. Now, I didn’t want to do the one we’re going to talk about right now, mainly because it’s it’s got was 60 hours to go or something? Yeah. So it’s almost done. So it’s like — It’s almost done. —

Sam [00:06:01]:
there’s no point.

Chris [00:06:02]:
But it was such a genius idea that it’s blowing sands mine. This

Sam [00:06:09]:
is gonna do most of the talking now because I can’t deal with this.

Chris [00:06:15]:
This is called Nope. Live free. So, nope, live free.

Sam [00:06:20]:
You better explain what this is. And then when you’ve explained it all and we’ve got 60 hours left, then you can don’t don’t tell him what it’s at the moment. just say what the goal was and explain explain the concept of

Chris [00:06:35]:
the So the goal is pledge for 500 bucks. Right? And just scroll down a little bit. Yeah. It’s a simple and elegant, magnetic privacy shield for IMAX, MacBooks, laptops, and desktops. So it’s it’s it works for a whole range of things. Basically, it says, you know, there are people that, like, cover over their what do you call those things? Little webcams.

Sam [00:07:00]:
The webcams that are built into your tablet, your phone, or your laptop or desktop.

Chris [00:07:03]:
Yeah. So people cover them, and they cover them for a very good reason because people are now harvesting these images, and yet it’s easy to spyware in there that will do all that and copy things and,

Sam [00:07:15]:
you know Potential advertisers can actually look at what you’re doing as well and — Yeah.

Chris [00:07:19]:

Sam [00:07:19]:
and work out what you wanna buy and things

Chris [00:07:21]:
So there’s a whole lot of dodgy ish stuff going on. But tape leaves a sticky, resin, you. And it’s an issue. It is. And it loses his adhesiveness

Sam [00:07:32]:
over time. So the guy’s from I better get this name right. What are they calling? Bungaloo.

Chris [00:07:38]:
know what was it?

Sam [00:07:39]:
The Bungejungle — Bunggejungle.

Chris [00:07:41]:

Sam [00:07:41]:
this is their 6th kickstarter, and they’re really good at supplying product and doing great things They’ve come up with this thing called Nope. Nope. n o p e.

Chris [00:07:52]:
As in nope. You’re not looking at me. And what it is is with some 3 m type and a magnet or 2 magnets.

Sam [00:08:03]:
So 2 magnets.

Chris [00:08:03]:
One magnet is stuck to the thing — Your

Sam [00:08:08]:
your screen or whatever. But to the side of the camera?

Chris [00:08:12]:
To the side of the camera? So it’s not even a a hollow magnet that’s around the camera. It’s it’s it’s a blob magnet that is off to one side of the camera. And a larger magnet sits on top of that, and you can swivel it around It sits on

Sam [00:08:26]:
the edge of it. It levitates. And you can rotate the bigger magnet around So it covers the camera. Or uncovers it when you need to use it. And there’s different sized magnets to cover different

Chris [00:08:38]:

Sam [00:08:38]:
size — Products.

Chris [00:08:39]:
— products. Yeah. So So this is possibly the easiest engineering ever in the history of the world. And we don’t forget, we’re looking at $500 is what they wanted

Sam [00:08:52]:
to come. That’s what they needed because you know, it’s 2 magnets and some tape. On keep that in mind, it’s 2 magnets and some tape.

Chris [00:09:00]:
So with 60 hours to go. Have they have they been funded?

Sam [00:09:06]:
Yes. They have. They have. Where’s the percentage thing?

Chris [00:09:09]:
It’s at the bottom The percentage is something like 16000 percent. They have received, as of this moment, 82,000 $454 for two pieces beyond time and a couple of magnets.

Sam [00:09:26]:
And that’s only from 7198 backers.

Chris [00:09:29]:
I I yeah. So this will retail at 30 bucks a pop. You know, yes, you could use a bit of a blue tack and stick it on your camera, or you could use some tape. But, you know, hey, they put IMAX and iPads in here. So it’s gotta be more expensive than that. Right? So thirty bucks a pop.

Sam [00:09:51]:
I just can’t get over it.

Chris [00:09:54]:
Alright, dude. I want to save this on my bookmarks. I’m gonna look this up. Save it on my book I’m gonna go through the Bungal Jangal, Bungal Jangal, whatever it is. Yeah. And and find out what they’re doing. because this is a business model for these guys. like, seriously, they’ve done a few. They seem to I’m wondering what I’ve seen.

Sam [00:10:11]:
I’m wondering if they’re piggybacking on their previous previous success a little bit.

Chris [00:10:16]:
Absolutely. And I would say they have got an email, what do you call it? email list?

Sam [00:10:22]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:10:23]:
616,486

Sam [00:10:25]:
percent for the note. They had the mount anywhere oh, sorry. Mount anything, anywhere neutron, a and neutron. on s.

Chris [00:10:32]:
So these are both magnet products. Mounce.

Sam [00:10:34]:
Yeah. That was like mounting a product. That one got funded.

Chris [00:10:39]:
$97,000.

Sam [00:10:41]:
Not 978 percent funded. 609 percent funded for the next one. So another $60,000 for that.

Chris [00:10:49]:
1318

Sam [00:10:50]:
percent for the Bungle jungle, world’s most versatile stand. That was

Chris [00:10:54]:
That looks pretty good. It was only 19,000. And the tribunga, which was their first one, was unsuccessful.

Sam [00:11:00]:
So But again, just goes to show

Chris [00:11:02]:
you if at first you don’t succeed,

Sam [00:11:04]:
get some magnets and some bit of tape and make a lot of money. It’s we have to come up with something. We we

Chris [00:11:11]:
we we should. If you, as a listening, as an idea, just jump on this the the show notes for this. Give us a comment and go. Let’s try this. We should do a live podcast, freaking Kickstart or or it may not be in Kickstart, Indi whatever. Yeah.

Sam [00:11:28]:
We should do a track our campaign for something. Do you think you could do a joke

Chris [00:11:32]:
1?

Sam [00:11:33]:
A joke product?

Chris [00:11:33]:
because if this guy did a joke product, Remember No.

Sam [00:11:38]:
It wasn’t a joke product. It was an actual thing. He wanted a potato salad.

Chris [00:11:42]:
Oh, the potato salad.

Sam [00:11:42]:
And he won, like,

Chris [00:11:43]:
$10,

Sam [00:11:43]:
and now he got, like, 100 of 1000 of dollars.

Chris [00:11:46]:
That if you don’t think that’s a joke

Sam [00:11:49]:
Just just look it up. Google that.

Chris [00:11:51]:
Potato selfie boy.

Sam [00:11:52]:
I think we can what’s the word I wanna say. We can capitalize on our living so far away from everywhere on a on a small island. that’s called New Zealand. We gotta come up with some crazy product that will help us live our lives. And all the America’s values.

Chris [00:12:09]:
Can you not think of any giant pumpkin thing that you could do?

Sam [00:12:13]:
No. No. Not on top of my head. No. But we wanna we wanna the product that you wanna go with has to be broad that’s probably something that everyone will wanna use in their home. I’m thinking some sort of fridge magnet thing.

Chris [00:12:28]:
You got magnets on the brain now. Yeah.

Sam [00:12:29]:
Magnets on the brain because

Chris [00:12:31]:
It’s a woman formula.

Sam [00:12:32]:
It apparently seems

Chris [00:12:33]:
to me. It’s funny, actually, because this as and aside now. But with the costume we were making for our guy, the Mandalorian in in our film, the the Star Wars fan film. We’re like, how are we going to attach the armor and do all this? because he’s gotta do quite a lot of moving. And the original stuff Boba Fit was wearing he could hardly walk in. And our guy is gonna be doing dire rolls and all sorts of stuff. And so he’s used what do you call those skins? You know, skin sports wear?

Sam [00:13:09]:
Are you talking about a compression?

Chris [00:13:11]:
Compression suit. They it. He’s got my compression top, which I’ll never get him back. And we sewed magnets into it. Oh, no. We sewed we sewed pennies dollar coins instead of 10¢ pieces, I think, into it. I didn’t know how money was magnetic. It never used to be, but anyway, it is now. And we sowed 10¢ put coins into it. And then we the armor clips on with magnets. Magnets solve everything.

Sam [00:13:37]:
Yeah. They use quite a lot and a lot of costuming. Yeah. I’d I’d never They use rare earth magnets, so they’re quite strong.

Chris [00:13:44]:
Yeah. They are. Yeah. And they’re not that expensive, actually. No. So Yeah. Maybe there’s some things we can do with Magnus. Like our spoolie.

Sam [00:13:54]:
yeah, there’ll be something we can do. And and I think the challenges, it has to be a product that’s only made by, like, three items.

Chris [00:14:01]:
Alright. because it’s simple to do and we can actually,

Sam [00:14:04]:
you know, provide a service a provider product to people that need it and fulfill the kicks a campaign.

Chris [00:14:11]:
So if you’re listening to this and you’ve got a great idea and you want us you can’t be bothered doing it yourself, let us know, and we’ll see if we can if it’s something make sense, we might give it a go.

Sam [00:14:21]:
We’ll work our magic and see what happens.

Chris [00:14:23]:
And and do it. And talk it through it as we go through a podcast. I reckon it’d be pretty

Sam [00:14:30]:
It’s very good. So one of the previous podcasts, I spoke about AliExpress. Right. And we spoke about how they’re having that the single sale — Yep.
Chris [00:14:40]:

Sam [00:14:40]:
11th 11th. It was just a while back.

Chris [00:14:42]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:14:43]:
So I was on there. I actually brought some stuff. It’s gonna take, like, forever to turn up. I have I have a

Chris [00:14:50]:
That’s right. because you told me about it, and I was like, oh, I must look at that. And then I never I I totally forgot about it, and I never looked at it.

Sam [00:14:56]:
So I’ve got some I’ve I’ve got a fascination with USB memory sticks. I just keep buying them. I don’t know why I need so many. But

Chris [00:15:04]:
I I don’t buy them. I get free ones.

Sam [00:15:07]:
Yeah. But some of the free you know, when we went to the market, conference. One of those ones, I can’t remember which one it was that we got is utter utter crap.

Chris [00:15:15]:
Oh, really?

Sam [00:15:15]:
Yeah. It can’t it it’s read write rate must be, like, one whatever kilobyte a second. It’s so slow. I end up throwing it out. Oh. So it was not a good choice from the marketing company.

Chris [00:15:28]:
There you go. So if you are going to market your products by putting your logo on the On a USB stick?

Sam [00:15:36]:
Yeah. Try and get

Chris [00:15:37]:
Check out how good the USB stick is before you do that.

Sam [00:15:40]:
It was real bad.

Chris [00:15:40]:
because that that is gonna impact negatively on their brand.

Sam [00:15:44]:
Yeah. So I’ve got a 128 gigabyte USB stick coming,

Chris [00:15:50]:
91%

Sam [00:15:51]:
off retail,

Chris [00:15:52]:
$12 50

Sam [00:15:54]:
US. Whoo. So we’ll see and it’s a named brand that I knew. So we’ll see how that works. And then not to, you know, just buy one memory stick. I did buy another one. I brought another one for $5. It’s in the shape of a key. So I’m hoping that’ll replace the one that’s almost broken on my key ring with a nice fancy new one. We’ll see.

Chris [00:16:15]:
Right. Well, I was gonna say something, and I’ve totally forgotten. It’s just popped out of my head.

Sam [00:16:21]:
Excellent. That’s always a good start.

Chris [00:16:25]:
I haven’t been drinking really, really, truly.

Sam [00:16:27]:
No. Well, he says that. I’m not so sure. Nothing. Nothing. That’s right. I I actually cut out all the silence. Oh, good. And the edits the Android’s getting an update soon, lollipop.

Chris [00:16:37]:
Really?

Sam [00:16:38]:
Yeah. So we’re on Kit Kat.

Chris [00:16:39]:
Most people — Oh, that’s right. Yeah. Yeah. —

Sam [00:16:40]:
people are on

Chris [00:16:40]:
4.4.4.4.

Sam [00:16:43]:
Yeah. and lollipops coming. So you know the the bog standard buttons that are used at the bottom of your screen if you got an Android phone.

Chris [00:16:53]:
Yeah. You’ve got you’ve got your it’s usually that.

Sam [00:16:56]:
Oh, the 3 actually — The Well, it depends on what phone you got. Mine’s on my screen. Yours might actually be in the in the frame of the phone. It’s hard to tell. But there’s usually a back button I’ve

Chris [00:17:08]:
got I’ve got a couple in the frame of the phone.

Sam [00:17:11]:
Oh, this isn’t gonna affect you at all, Chris.

Chris [00:17:14]:
I’ve got a Samsung Galaxy s 3 in a one. If somebody would like to sponsor our podcast by giving me a new event of the same song as Yeah.

Sam [00:17:23]:
Yeah. because that’s yeah. Okay. Cool.

Chris [00:17:24]:
because that’s gonna happen. Right?

Sam [00:17:26]:
Yeah. Let’s help Chris out. Let’s just we’re gonna crowd fund that too. But in the new update, they’re actually replacing those 33 buttons down the bottom. for some reason, it’s like maybe a triangle or circle in a square, I think, or something.

Chris [00:17:38]:
Oh, just the the shape of them, but it’s still gonna do the same thing.

Sam [00:17:41]:
Yeah. And the whole Look of the phone’s gonna be a bit flatter. And apparently, it’s going to mimic good old Apple Iphones. So we’ll wait and see what that looks like.

Chris [00:17:52]:
Android’s gonna mimic the iPhone.

Sam [00:17:54]:
Wow. It just looks slightly. They’re just taking bits and pieces from it. And the other thing that you can get with lollipop which should come out. And I know it’s on some of the tablets that are running lollipop. There’s profiles on the phone. So you can have like, set up a profile for your phone that it can only look at photos. So if you gave your phone to someone to look at the photos, you switch profiles really quickly and just have it like as guest. And they can’t actually do anything else on your phone. Now I don’t know about you, but my sister and brother-in-law have this friend who’s I don’t know what’s up with him, but he’s an interesting fellow. So they

Chris [00:18:32]:
He’s not a Tyler and Taron. No.

Sam [00:18:35]:
No. No. No. No. No. He’s actually pretty much well, 95% of the time is stay at home dad. So he actually they gave I think my sister’s showing him a photo on the phone. And so he’s looking at the photo. And then next thing you know, he’s in an ad and playing a game and then looking at something else on the phone. So this will be really good for them.

Chris [00:18:58]:
Yeah. That that would be good. It’d be good to have a profile that just lets him use the phone and not access anything else? because — Yes. — do can I use your phone? Yeah. Sure.

Sam [00:19:07]:
And it’s good it’s good for kids.

Chris [00:19:08]:
Yeah. Yeah. You

Sam [00:19:08]:
actually have a kids profile, and then all they can do is Do do what

Chris [00:19:11]:
Play the apps that are gonna go on the Internet and and yeah.

Sam [00:19:15]:
Why things?

Chris [00:19:16]:
Yeah. That’s cool. So okay. So that’s that’s upcoming with Android. Oh, what else technology technological? Have I seen There is lately.

Sam [00:19:27]:
I’m trying to think What’s something else I’m gonna say?

Chris [00:19:29]:
I must say I have been avoiding Steam for a while now. So you steam the game’s platform?

Sam [00:19:36]:
I have steam installed on this laptop. Yeah. I’m not a hippie gamer. Yeah. I’ve I’ve It’s not often I have to go into it.

Chris [00:19:42]:
I got hundreds of games on my desktop upstairs on Steam. And the problem is they have these sales all

Sam [00:19:50]:
the time. Steam sales. Yeah.

Chris [00:19:51]:
Steam sales. You know? $2. I’ve always wanted to get there. I wanted to get game when it first came out 4 years ago, and you get it. And then you never play it. So I have got a Gazillion game well, a hundred games or so. And a lot of them, I’ve never played. And the thing is, I don’t have to remember my computer to install all of them. But I’ve been playing Max Payne 3 again recently. So is quite cool. They need to do more. I I would love to actually get the starcraft on there, but they don’t have starcraft on there.

Sam [00:20:25]:
Oh, okay. Which is

Chris [00:20:26]:
a shame.

Sam [00:20:26]:
But it must be, like, licensing

Chris [00:20:29]:
Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. But I what I love about it is that, you know, you can have it on different advice. So I’ve got a few games on my laptop, which are, you know, pretty basic games. And then my immersive games, I’ll pay on my desktop.

Sam [00:20:44]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:20:44]:
And And you don’t have to ever worry about patching it, you know, or updating all those sorts of stuff. It’s all done seamlessly in the background, which I love. Yeah. That’s very good. I was just filling in while you were talking about something else or thinking about something.

Sam [00:20:59]:
No. No. No. It’s good. I I really wish this laptop was a bit higher spec. Yeah. It’s pretty it’s it was pretty good when I got it. Yeah. But it does need a bit more grunt. Yeah. Mine mine’s getting

Chris [00:21:09]:
a bit like that. And my desktop, actually, is is pretty bad now. It’s probably seven years old, which is pretty old now.

Sam [00:21:16]:
Yeah. That’s getting up there.

Chris [00:21:17]:
Yeah. It was it was real high spec at the time.

Sam [00:21:20]:
Yeah. But And then since you left the shop, it was out of town. Usual story.

Chris [00:21:25]:
Yeah. Yeah. Pretty much. I think

Sam [00:21:26]:
it’ll be a while before I update this. Go to save some money up.

Chris [00:21:30]:
Yeah. Yeah. I gotta keep paying rent. So

Sam [00:21:35]:
That’s good. That’s a good priority to have.

Chris [00:21:37]:
I think so. I think so. And my flatmates didn’t come too.

Sam [00:21:40]:
There’s nothing worse than a flat mate that doesn’t pay things.

Chris [00:21:44]:
Yeah. Especially when it’s all in my name.

Sam [00:21:47]:
Yeah. Exactly.

Chris [00:21:48]:
What else do we do recently? So I’ve been at the gym today. So let’s melt I’ve been at Les Mills, going to Les Mills for over 10 years.

Sam [00:21:59]:
Yeah. Oh, cool. Yep.

Chris [00:22:00]:
You know, that’s a long time.

Sam [00:22:01]:
It it is.

Chris [00:22:02]:
And

Sam [00:22:02]:
Jim Jim going times.

Chris [00:22:04]:
Yeah. And it’s it’s it really is a community there. It’s a bunch of people that I see all the time. One of my flatmates, I met her there. you know, you see the same guys in it day in, day out. And today, they had their workshops. So they had people come down from Auckland to do the latest release, and it was quite good 9 o’clock this morning. We had a whole bunch of people there. It was close to a hundred people in the room. jump in around, punching the air and stuff was awesome. I really enjoyed it. So

Sam [00:22:37]:
When you say new release, are you talking about, like, a group fitness class.

Chris [00:22:41]:
Yep. So they do group fitness class. So I like going to the combat ones. So it’s like punching and kicking and that sort of thing. It’s funny too because I have to stand down the front. I can’t be at the back because Why? Because people distract me. I I look at them and go, you’re punching wrong. you’re kicking wrong. You shouldn’t be doing it like that. So I have to be right at the front with nobody in front of me, so I can’t be — That’s pretty interesting. I know. I because I’ve taught that stuff. Well, not the group fitness stuff, but the punching and stuff years years. And I just can’t switch it off. And if I see somebody doing it wrong, it would just nag at me, nag at me.

Sam [00:23:18]:
Would you end up just yelling out like in a fit of rage? You’re doing it wrong.

Chris [00:23:22]:
I have been so tempted. But it just takes me out of focusing on what I’m doing. And so I I don’t get my workout.

Sam [00:23:31]:
So I’m semi unco at the best of times, so I’ll put you right off. because I can’t get because I can’t get the timing right, because someone in a group’s situation, someone does something. And my brain’s, like, 2 seconds behind going okay as we have to do. Yeah. Just a sec.

Chris [00:23:45]:
Yeah. And that that’s that’s a practice thing as well. You know? The more you do it, the better you’ll get. I mean, I went to the dance class. 1, the jam. They call it body jam.

Sam [00:23:56]:
Oh, yes. I I think that’s the one I’ve done once before many years ago, and it was I just couldn’t stop laughing.

Chris [00:24:01]:
Yeah. We did it a few years ago, and I used to go so they do the combat and then straight after they do the jam, and we did the double twice a week. And pretty good. And I only managed it because I was already tired from the the combat. Because if I think, like you you’re saying, I screwed it all up. But if I’m already tired, I don’t think. And I just move and I do it okay, but I can’t do anything.

Sam [00:24:23]:
When I was going to the gym. I haven’t been to one for a long time. But one of the things I did like doing was the spin class

Chris [00:24:29]:

Sam [00:24:30]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. — on the on the stationary bike thing. Yeah. And it was really cool because it was like you said, it was the same group of people every every week for that one. So we’d all see each other and wouldn’t really say much, but stay high and, you know — Yeah.

Chris [00:24:42]:

Sam [00:24:43]:
sweet nonstop because it’s really hard. And one time this poser girl turned up, and she was like, dressed and fancy everything.

Chris [00:24:52]:
The light crew and all that. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:24:53]:
Yeah. All the latest shoes and all this. And she’s like, on this bike, and the instructor’s saying, you need to feel feel the burn, like crank it right up and we’re climbing a hill. And I want you up standing up and this chick’s like, oh, okay. and her feet are going around really, really fast, really, really fast. And the structure just stops, gets off her bike, goes over, cranks up the resistance to what it’s supposed to be. as opposed to nothing and says, if you’re not struggling, you’re not doing it right. And this chick was okay. never saw her again after that class.

Chris [00:25:28]:
I yeah. I I I don’t I don’t like that because they call it RPM at lease mills. I don’t know if it’s the same thing or whatever. And it’s not owned by lease mills, I think. It’s it’s licensed to to them. So there’s an additional charge to do that. But, yeah, I’m not a big fan of that. But that’s because I’m not a big fan of bikes in general. I grew up in Wellington, on the top of a big, big, bloody hill. And, you know, we didn’t, you know, do bikes.

Sam [00:25:55]:
Oh, well, I’ve I’ve I’ve I’ve got a mountain bike. When I left my last job and they paid me out, I I went and got a mountain bike because apparently, that was the thing that everyone was doing. And it’s pretty good. I went to the Hamilton Mountain bike track, and I’ve been there a few times and thought I was gonna die halfway around just due to the lack of fitness. And one time actually fell off. I went around this corner, and I was pretty lucky, actually. I missed a tree. Yeah. It’s pretty but then I actually YouTube had a corner on a mountain bike properly. I was doing it completely wrong. Oh, wow. because I hadn’t been on one for so long. I guess naturally Yeah.

Chris [00:26:26]:
And I I wouldn’t I I’ve been on one once. I got taken for Really? I forget where we were. I think it was that Coramandelway. We went

Sam [00:26:36]:
Oh, yeah.

Chris [00:26:37]:
Yeah. We went on some trails there, and that was pretty cool. I the problem was I’d been off sick, like, sick sick, real bad flu. And so I was I was like, blocks up. It’s not in that lane. It was a painful, painful ride, to be honest, with the two people that go all the time. Yeah. But, yeah, it was good. And I think I could get into it.

Sam [00:27:02]:
Quite a few people I know are right into the downhill mountain biking. Yeah. So they’ve got very expensive mountain bikes with lots of bells and whistles.

Chris [00:27:10]:
Like They have bikes dearer than the last couple of cars that I’ve had.

Sam [00:27:14]:
Yeah. Exactly. My mate just upgraded and he’s got the button that makes the seat go up and down. Like, you press a button and it goes down, drops. And then when you’re climbing again. You don’t need the you need the seat again. It comes back up. It’s crazy. And it’s got all these so after a while, I’ve sort of realized that’s not what I wanna be doing. I mean, yeah, it’s it’s fun, but not to that extreme of going downhill with full face masks, helmets, and things. So I think I’m tending to go towards more trail rides. Yep. So I do have a slight problem as my car is very, very small. I have to dismantle the whole bike, and it barely fits in the car. So I really do need to get a tow ball just to

Chris [00:27:54]:
turn the bike around. Those tow bath bracket y things are pretty cool. Yeah. So what you wanna do too, I reckon, is down by Benny Dale. There’s a 2 day track. And it’s the biggest so it’s just a little trail. It’s not a mountain bike trail as such.

Sam [00:28:14]:
Yeah. Yeah. Okay.

Chris [00:28:15]:
And it’s the has what is it called? The biggest suspension bridge in the southern hemisphere or at least in Australasia. If you go to newzealand.com, you know, the tourism website. Yeah. Yeah. It’s featured on the front page of that. And they spent 1,000,000 of dollars on this. So it’s a 2 day ride. I’ve friends down there that run a BNB, and you can go down there and stay at their place, and they have the the shuttles taking to the you know, first part and then pick you up and bring you back and all that.

Sam [00:28:48]:
That sounds really good. I’m gonna have to check that.

Chris [00:28:49]:
I’m I’m quite keen to have a go. So another live podcast on-site from the

Sam [00:28:56]:
I don’t think we’d live do that one. I’ll just puffing and puffing and swearing, and then

Chris [00:29:00]:
But we could do something in the evening after dinner. That’d be cool. With a couple of red wines or whatever. Oh, I’ll do the red wines.

Sam [00:29:06]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:29:09]:
I thought you were looking something out.

Sam [00:29:11]:
No. No. Nothing. We’re at that’s pretty much us anyway.

Chris [00:29:14]:
Yep. Okay. So so that’s enough rambling. for today. And we are rambling.

Sam [00:29:20]:
We are sorry about that.

Chris [00:29:21]:
Yeah. Yeah. I think yeah. I need to do a little bit more research before the next one.
