Chris [00:00:31]:
Hello, Chris. Hey, Sam. How are you doing?

Sam [00:00:34]:
N I’m good. And you know what? This is number 10 of the Chris and Sam podcast.

Chris [00:00:37]:
Double digits. Woo hoo.

Sam [00:00:39]:
Actually, do you know, I just I just thought of something, and I better tell you this. You know, In the very first episodes, there’s that little bit where I say the what the episode’s about. Yeah. Well, I’ve been forgetting to do that, like, because we Pack up and then I go home. So I tried redoing it at home, and I can’t recreate it because I don’t have any of the mic gear at home. So the one I did was really, really terrible, and the last couple haven’t had anything. Right. So this

Chris [00:01:05]:
is the intro. So remind me in

Sam [00:01:07]:
a minute to do these other things. One. Yeah. That’ll do.

Chris [00:01:21]:
Alright. So, what else is new? Uh-huh. And everybody reaches for their Notepad.

Sam [00:01:28]:
Yeah. So yeah. What else?

Chris [00:01:30]:
I I Hey. Did you you saw that AFK got funded. This is probably old news by the time the listeners are there, day. And it’s it is a little bit old news now, actually, but because you’ve had your back problems and stuff, we haven’t caught up for a while. No. Yeah. AFK got funded. And It’s

Sam [00:01:46]:
gonna be interesting to see the time frame and when it comes out and all that sort of stuff and and when they write a song about you.

Chris [00:01:53]:
Yeah. And when they write a song about me. Well, I don’t think it’s about me. I think I just get my name slipped in there somewhere with Is it like your

Sam [00:02:02]:
20 other people. Is it like your

Chris [00:02:04]:
full name

Sam [00:02:04]:
or just Chris? Honestly, I have no clue. Yeah. Okay. I’m looking. Okay.

Chris [00:02:08]:
I would think it’s my full name because there’s too many Chris’. Mind you, they’d save a lot of money. They go, oh, hey. We got 17 Chris’n funded this. We’ll just put christening. Yeah. Sweet. Yeah.

Chris [00:02:17]:
They’ll all think it’s them.

Sam [00:02:21]:
Yeah. It’ll be interesting.

Chris [00:02:22]:
Show. Yes. So, it’s pretty cool. But, yeah, it’s it’s interesting because they have filmed the pilot, so I should get a link should have gotten a link. I haven’t yet. Although, I might have to check my emails, to be honest, of the pilot. So I can see that. It was interesting.

Chris [00:02:39]:
I was talking about With this about about this with Kent. Let me say that correctly.

Sam [00:02:44]:
Yes.

Chris [00:02:45]:
And, yeah, she said she because she also funded sure. Said it was a bit of an interesting one because normally you give stuff for free. You show the pilot. In this case, you would show the pilot so people could see what you did, but they didn’t. They didn’t show the pilot. They said, pay us, and then you get to see the pilot, which She thought it was a little annoying. The one thing that they did do, though, which was pretty cool, was that they played the pilot at Armageddon.

Sam [00:03:13]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:03:14]:
They’ve got a big crowd from that because it’s right audience, obviously.

Sam [00:03:17]:
Yeah. That’s a good idea.

Chris [00:03:18]:
So that worked for them. But, yeah, I suppose I should tell you, and I don’t know if I’ve told you this. I’ve Talk

Sam [00:03:25]:
to Cat? You’ve funded more stuff?

Chris [00:03:27]:
No. I’ve talked to Cat, and we are working on a crowdfunding book. So we’re writing a book.

Sam [00:03:39]:
You’ve actually done stuff?

Chris [00:03:41]:
Yeah. We get on the phone once a week and, record it, actually. And, we’ve got some Google Docs going, and I rewrite what we’ve Recorded, and we’ve got topics we’re gonna go through and stuff. We’re going

Sam [00:03:51]:
That’s awesome.

Chris [00:03:52]:
To later crowdfund and, for an editor and and cover art Yeah. Yeah. And and Get that done, but, it’s a longish project.

Sam [00:04:01]:
Yeah. Yeah. You don’t wanna rush this to it.

Chris [00:04:02]:
Yeah. We’re only just early on, but, man, I have learned so much in the last couple of weeks. It’s amazing. Awesome. Yeah. So yeah. So the crowdfunding book, you’ll hear more about that. No doubt.

Sam [00:04:12]:
Yeah. I’m sure that’s gonna make an appearance, in future Future, Christian Sam podcast.

Chris [00:04:16]:
And I can blame you because it is You can blame me. Why? It’s it’s your dropkick or kickstart That got me back into it because I was quite interested in in in crowdfunding.

Sam [00:04:27]:
And I still can’t get over the 2 magnets and a piece Nope.

Chris [00:04:30]:
I know. We were on the phone, and I said, look up Nope. And she goes, they were looking for $500, and I got 93,000? Yeah. Yeah. I I love that story. I’ve told so many people that that Nope. Blew your mind a little.

Sam [00:04:48]:
Yeah. That’s a good story.

Chris [00:04:50]:
Yeah. Anyway, sorry. That was my No.

Sam [00:04:52]:
That’s cool. The only thing I had sort of Was, did you know the re the Reserve Bank of New Zealand’s revamping the notes the bank notes.

Chris [00:05:02]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I don’t know any details about it, and I briefly saw something of a photo of of 1 of the notes, like, in a news feed on on on a Social media. Yeah. And I thought it was a joke, and then later I heard that they were doing it. I was like, oh my god. Is that what it’s gonna look like?

Sam [00:05:17]:
Well, it’s very, very bright, and it still got the and stuff, and it still got the same famous people, and that’s all well and good. But someone somewhere must just have nothing better to do. Do you know how much this is gonna cost? No. $80,000,000. But that’s alright

Chris [00:05:35]:
because they just print 80,000,000 and just give it to you.

Sam [00:05:38]:
It’s it’s it it’s stupid. The the reason they’re doing it is because we have to upgrade it because of the threat of counterfeits. And then they said, but we don’t get many of those in New Zealand. Look at news look at the banknotes in America. They haven’t changed since.

Chris [00:05:57]:
No. Actually, that’s incorrect. They change a lot.

Sam [00:06:01]:
But they’re still They look day.

Chris [00:06:03]:
That’s still Generally, they would say

Sam [00:06:05]:
still way easy to counterfeit, apparently, than our

Chris [00:06:07]:
Oh, yeah. All the one color. Yeah. And Yeah. Knob heads.

Sam [00:06:11]:
I just I it it just drove me crazy because I thought that they could use the $80,000,000 for something better because

Chris [00:06:18]:
we’ve got changing our flag.

Sam [00:06:21]:
No. But we’ve got all these people in need, and we’ve got homeless people, and we’ve got all these problems, and we’ve got people in Christchurch still again. God knows what caravans and stuff. And, you know but anyway, that’s my little rant. Actually, I’ve got another rant, but I won’t do it because I don’t know how you How you feel about this one?

Chris [00:06:39]:
That that that sounds pretty good. It’s interesting. In talking about rants and things, I I read a really interesting story I wanted to share with you. And so the Neo Nazis descend on it once a year and do a march through the village.

Sam [00:07:18]:
Yeah. I I saw the headline, but I didn’t really read the story.

Chris [00:07:21]:
Yeah. So, and this has been going on for, like, 2025 years or something, and and the village hates it.

Sam [00:07:27]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:07:27]:
You just got all these neo Nazis, like, sitting on the village. They march through the middle of the town, and it’s really annoying. So some bright spark and this is genius. I think it’s absolute genius in terms of social engineering.

Sam [00:07:41]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:07:42]:
What they did was they made a fundraiser. And they have people Sponsoring the march, and all the money goes towards these there’s a, apparently, a fund over there for people getting out of Neo Nazism. Alright. Yeah. Yeah. And so they’ve got signs up all along the route going, keep going, boys. You just made the £5,000 mark or euros mark or whatever it is.

Sam [00:08:06]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:08:06]:
You know? And all the way through. And so these guys are marching like straw chairs, but they’re marching against themselves.

Sam [00:08:13]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:08:14]:
And the village was all there cheering them on, and it was like, that’s genius. Dude, that

Sam [00:08:20]:
is Turn it around. Turn it around.

Chris [00:08:22]:
Yeah. Anyway. So I don’t know if, there’s something you can do about the notes in terms of genius, but anyway

Sam [00:08:29]:
No. No. There’s not. Look forward to seeing women to However long it is.

Chris [00:08:34]:
Yeah. And so what do you think about changing the flag, by the way?

Sam [00:08:38]:
Interesting question. I’m not against changing how it looks, but But I don’t think there is any need to change it.

Chris [00:08:45]:
I I I think there is. I think I think we should change it.

Sam [00:08:49]:
Get away from Lee.

Chris [00:08:50]:
Well, yeah. Get away from the colonial thing a a little bit. And don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that what people have done for New Zealand in the past is bad or any of that stuff, but it’s just like

Sam [00:09:10]:
I Got the silver fern?

Chris [00:09:11]:
Really I I’d like the silver fern. Black flag was so firm on it. I’d be happy with that. Yeah. A Kiwi type thing because I, You know, the Canadian flag with the maple leaf Yeah. Is brilliant. Like, literally brilliant. You know? You you can’t mistake it for anyone else.

Chris [00:09:27]:
No. Our one is, Yeah.

Sam [00:09:29]:
Yeah. Is that Australia? Yeah. No.

Chris [00:09:32]:
All the time. All the time. So, yeah, I I just thought I’d ask what you think.

Sam [00:09:36]:
Yeah. Yeah. That’s good. So I know that you’re gonna talk about this, so I’ll just bring it up. You went and saw Interstellar, the movie.

Chris [00:09:43]:
Yes. I’ve been twice, actually. I went twice.

Sam [00:09:46]:
I wondered if you had.

Chris [00:09:47]:
Yeah. Oh, why?

Sam [00:09:49]:
Just just to juice some things. Right.

Chris [00:09:52]:
Okay. Maybe. No. Interstellar was It was a great movie. I really enjoyed it. I have heard other people not having such a great experience of it.

Sam [00:10:03]:
Interesting. I’ve only heard good things.

Chris [00:10:05]:
Yes. I had only heard good things before I went, and then I’ve mentioned it to a couple people and they’re like, nah.

Sam [00:10:12]:
Trying to think how they, something I read and they worded it and they said it’s Such a deep complex film when you think about it, apparently. It’s got many layers and because McConaughey’s on it, isn’t he? Yeah. And it’s something to do with How he portrays something I don’t know. Apparently, it’s it’s really good anyway.

Chris [00:10:33]:
Yeah. They

Sam [00:10:33]:
You really should see this film.

Chris [00:10:35]:
The big thing I’d heard was that the science was good in it and stuff like that, and it made sense, and it was all actual stuff. Yeah. And I thought, my, yeah, that sounds good. So I went along, and I thought that was true, but the real movie is is the characters

Sam [00:10:50]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:10:51]:
And and the Yeah. The people and the humanity of And, yeah, I I recommend it, and I recommend that it is something that you want to see it at a on a big screen.

Sam [00:11:00]:
I’ve heard that general consensus, and people have been Saying they people I’ve read online have been getting upset when it’s not on, like, the massive Imax screens.

Chris [00:11:09]:
It would be good. I

Sam [00:11:10]:
think that’s in the States.

Chris [00:11:11]:
Oh, yeah. I mean, we we only have 1 on Auckland, don’t we? We don’t have an IMAX down here.

Sam [00:11:16]:
No. We’ve got the extreme screen

Chris [00:11:18]:
or whatever. Yeah. Which is pretty good, but, yeah, I didn’t see it on there. I’ve seen it at, Metro in Hamilton, and I’ve seen it out Tiawa, but it was a small, you know, standard screen out in Tiawa. But yeah. No. Well worth seeing. And you go, oh, I didn’t sort of see that coming.

Chris [00:11:52]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:11:52]:
Yeah. It

Chris [00:11:52]:
does forewarn you a bit. But yeah. No. It’s good.

Sam [00:11:56]:
Very good.

Chris [00:11:56]:
Haven’t you seen anything at the movies Recently. I saw oh, yeah. Tell you what I did see.

Sam [00:12:03]:
I saw I’ve seen 2 movies recently. One of them, we almost was gonna watch my sister’s place, and we didn’t. We I think have I told you this? We ended up watching Guardians of the Galaxy. Right. Really, really cool. But the film that we were gonna watch is A Thousand Ways to Die in the West.

Chris [00:12:21]:
Yes. Yes. I see saw that recently myself. And my sister was mouthing to me, don’t Watch it. Don’t watch it. It’s so boring. You will fall asleep.

Sam [00:12:31]:
And I was like, okay. And it is incredibly long for what it is.

Chris [00:12:53]:
And feel that it was

Sam [00:12:55]:
Oh, you wouldn’t have liked it sober. The other movie And I

Chris [00:12:58]:
was probably mucking around on my phone on Social Media at the time.

Sam [00:13:01]:
It’s not a it’s not a movie that you’re gonna pay full attention to. Yeah. Because it just goes on and on and on, and you’re just like, alright. The other movie I did see was Let’s Be Cops, And that’s surprisingly really good.

Chris [00:13:13]:
Let’s be cops.

Sam [00:13:14]:
Yeah. I think it’s called that.

Chris [00:13:16]:
Oh, okay. No. I hadn’t heard of it.

Sam [00:13:17]:
Yeah. Dude, 1 of the dudes is a game developer and the other guy’s just a useless bum. It’s his flatmate. And They get the costumes and they put it on for, like, Halloween or something or just to wear it, and everyone thinks they’re cops. And The game developer guy says, oh, that was good for, you know, for that night. It was good fun. And the other guy says, let’s do it all the time. And he turns out he buys, like, a ex police cruiser off It’s good, silly fun.

Chris [00:13:52]:
Oh, cool. And and we can’t sort of walk away from a talk about movies without the 2 big things that happened this week.

Sam [00:14:01]:
I can think of 1.

Chris [00:14:02]:
What’s the second1? So one of them was the release of the teaser for The Force Awakens Star Wars.

Sam [00:14:09]:
Yes.

Chris [00:14:10]:
And, actually, I was yeah. Karen. And so yeah. So that’s been bit a lot of people talking about that, which makes me laugh because it’s 82nd trailer.

Sam [00:14:22]:
88. 88. 88, 2nd get it wrong. Trailer.

Chris [00:14:25]:
Oh, I don’t cut it short. No. Yeah. 88 second trailer. You know, I it’s amazing how they can extrapolate this out. And the, podcast that was, screwing up the sound on the other day Was all about that trailer, and that was an hour 40 minutes, talking about the 88 second trailer. It just cracked

Sam [00:14:45]:
me up. Intense.

Chris [00:14:47]:
But yeah. So some people are very passionate. I I must say, does look like it’s going back to the old cinema cinema cinemagraphic cinema.

Sam [00:14:56]:
Sounds good. The old way they filmed

Chris [00:14:58]:
The old writer found that with the big skies and the big

Sam [00:15:01]:
Now there’s 3 fan made Ones that have been made, but I’ve only seen 1. And I was gonna see the other 2, but I forgot. And I’ll I’ll show them to you later. I don’t know if you’ve seen these.

Chris [00:15:12]:
I saw one that was George Lucas’s I

Sam [00:15:15]:
I haven’t seen the George Lucas one yet. There’s one that’s, got all the Lens flares that,

Chris [00:15:23]:
Michael Bay.

Sam [00:15:24]:
Does.

Chris [00:15:25]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:15:25]:
Yeah. And have you seen the Lego one? No. Frame by frame, exactly the same, all done in Lego. And the thing was it was released, I don’t know, like, Within 24 hours of that being released. That’s crazy.

Chris [00:15:42]:
They must have had some inside dope. You can’t. Oh, really? Wow. That’s amazing.

Sam [00:15:48]:
So it’s all like stop motion. Yeah.

Chris [00:15:49]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:15:50]:
It’s exactly the same.

Chris [00:15:51]:
Although I suppose, you know, if you’re making out Allego, you can make it better.

Sam [00:15:54]:
And then I saw someone did Hey. You know the shot with the Millennium Falcon’s flying? Yep. Someone, did a A recut of it, but stabilized. Like, they stabilized that footage, so you just see it going, flying really smoothly Without the camera shake, it’s really weird.

Chris [00:16:13]:
I don’t know why anyone would bother. But the summer’s done that. I saw that. God, I didn’t even notice Camera shake. I would I mean, I wasn’t really thinking.

Sam [00:16:20]:
No. No. No. Because it’s all part of it. But Yeah.

Chris [00:16:21]:
Yeah. It’s part of the experience.

Sam [00:16:22]:
So what’s the second

Chris [00:16:24]:
The second big thing, of course, was the Final, final of the trilogy of The Hobbit was just had its big Big premiere. Yeah. Last night. London. Last night, yesterday morning, whatever it is in London time. Yeah. So that’s the end of an era, really.

Sam [00:16:41]:
Yeah. You

Chris [00:16:41]:
know, Middle Earth in in New Zealand, that was been 15 years

Sam [00:16:45]:
of That’s a long time.

Chris [00:16:46]:
You know? It’s a career for some people. That have has been literally the start in their full career. Dinner. Which so that’s a big big deal for, New Zealand, and well done, sir Peter Jackson. Yep. We had a bit of a discussion about it the other day, And it’s like so I don’t know if you realize. I I knew, but I it was in the I wasn’t paying a lot of attention to it. But so Peter Jackson did the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Chris [00:17:14]:
And then they said they’re gonna do the The Hobbit, and he’s like, I’m out. I’m not doing it. And Delt

Sam [00:17:20]:
Del Toro was supposed to do it, and then he pulled out.

Chris [00:17:23]:
He pulled out, like, at the last minute. So Yeah. Peter Jackson had no choice. He had to do it. And we were talking about it because we’re talking about George Lucas’ doing the prequels after the Star Wars trilogy Yep. And the amount of pressure on somebody And then they go, right. We want you to do it again.

Sam [00:17:48]:
Yeah. Can

Chris [00:17:48]:
you imagine the pressure? I know. So, you know,

Sam [00:17:51]:
big But then he got a lot of criticism for possibly Breaking this down into 3 films.

Chris [00:17:57]:
Yeah. We got that.

Sam [00:17:57]:
Because people were

Chris [00:17:58]:
first time. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:18:00]:
But that’s the way he wants to tell it. And and I think that’s what he don’t quote me this, but I’m pretty certain when they pulled him in and said, look, del Toro is out. You’re doing it. He said, right. But I have to do it on my terms. Yeah. Actually, I’ve got a I

Chris [00:18:13]:
bet he’s he’s one of the major funders, executive producers of it anyway, wasn’t he? That was why it was in the project. Just like Lucas did. You know? Lucas totally funded the the the 2nd trilogy, the prequels. But, You know, he, went back to doing a lot of stuff, like, the way it should be done, and through a lot of possibly unneeded stuff and the prequel. Yeah. Possibly. But anyway, anyway, I I I am going to, I think, the premiere in Hamilton But yes. So if you wanna come along, I think it’s 21 bus see

Sam [00:19:07]:
if I’m working

Chris [00:19:08]:
or not. Yeah. So Wednesday night, Thursday morning. So it’s, yeah, it’s Thursday morning. 1 minute.

Sam [00:19:14]:
That could possibly work out for me. Well, I don’t know. Just depends. Yeah. I’ll have to look.

Chris [00:19:19]:
That’s pretty cool. Actually, Talking about

Sam [00:19:21]:
the movie thing, did you have you been keeping up the play with the Sony hacking?

Chris [00:19:27]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. North Korea has hacked,

Sam [00:19:30]:
No. No. Now they don’t think it’s North Korea. Alright. That’s a story.

Chris [00:19:34]:
I’m behind the tag.

Sam [00:19:34]:
That’s the story today. 100 terabytes of data is what they think has been taken. But it’s real interesting because it depends on what news outlet or media source you have. So originally, apparently, the people That contacted them said, we’ve taken your data. We’ve had inside help to do this because it is a big task. Yeah. And I think words were, you know what you’ve done and if you don’t talk about it, we’re gonna release everything, whatever that means. So who knows? But Fury’s out.

Sam [00:20:07]:
That got but they can’t they can’t completely work out if that’s from the hack or not, But that was put up on the torrent sites straight away and has had millions of downloads, so that’s pretty much been released without actually ever coming to a theater.

Chris [00:20:23]:
Funny because, Pauline Gillespie was in she she’s on the hits radio. Yeah. She was in London For the Hobbit release.

Sam [00:20:32]:
I actually I actually heard that the other day. Yeah. Because the only radio station I could get is their one.

Chris [00:20:36]:
And they were saying, she says, I was on the street, and people are selling, Fury. I’m like, this isn’t even out at the movies yet.

Sam [00:20:43]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:20:43]:
They’ve got DVDs of it.

Sam [00:20:45]:
And Annie. I I don’t know they did that as a movie. That’s the other one that got leaked. Annie? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I know. Exactly.

Chris [00:20:53]:
Yeah. Nobody NerdECATE.

Sam [00:20:54]:
So, but they’re they’re taking it very seriously. It’s a criminal matter. They’ve brought in, officials and stuff.

Chris [00:21:01]:
Dotcom’s behind it now. No. Not Kim Jong il. No. Kim.com. No.

Sam [00:21:06]:
But he but he’s he’s releasing the Internet parties turning up in America to, Run against Hillary Clinton. Have you heard that one?

Chris [00:21:15]:
Are you keeping how how are you keeping a straight face when you’re saying this?

Sam [00:21:18]:
I don’t know. He’s not actually involved in it. As such, he’s just gonna be their, public relations type person, but they want to set up for the 2016, I think it is, election And run against her and have a party all set up in America. That’s what he quoted or stated yesterday.

Chris [00:21:38]:
Do you know how much costs in the states? It’s like Yeah.

Sam [00:21:41]:
That’s when they get all the back all the people that don’t know. You know, it’s it’s crazy.

Chris [00:21:44]:
It’s a ludicrous size of

Sam [00:21:48]:
Oh, no.

Chris [00:21:48]:
The guy’s nuts.

Sam [00:21:50]:
That is. But, it so I think Sony’s just got the email back on now. They had to bring in this company. They keep mentioning this company, and I don’t know who they are. But apparently, they are the go to people. If you’ve been absolutely hacked, This company will come in and fix it all up and get you back online running.

Chris [00:22:07]:
You don’t recall the name? You don’t recall the name?

Sam [00:22:10]:
No. No. Off the top of my head. Right. It didn’t even make any sense to me, so it’s not not memorable.

Chris [00:22:15]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:22:16]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:22:17]:
Well, if You’re the go to person. You don’t have to be memorable. You know? You

Sam [00:22:20]:
just No. That’s right.

Chris [00:22:21]:
Just have to be exist.

Sam [00:22:22]:
And they’re probably on standby, like, you know, 247 just sitting around with laptops and stuff. Are we doing now? Nothing. Oh, no. Sony’s been heckled. Go. Go. Go. Ghostbusters.

Chris [00:22:33]:
Damn it. You gotta call. Yeah. North Korean thing? Although I always wonder about that because they’re always blaming, you know.

Sam [00:22:49]:
Yeah. But have you seen North Korea’s amazing sub that they had? It’s just been repainted and they’re all going around going, oh, look at this. Look at that. Because now you can’t say anything bad because you’ll kill you. And, they They were like, oh, look at this. And they reckon it had amazing capabilities, but it’s like a 50 year old warship. It’s like a bit of metal floating in the water.

Chris [00:23:15]:
But it can go underwater?

Sam [00:23:17]:
Yeah. And that well, we I don’t know.

Chris [00:23:18]:
It was only ever surfaced.

Sam [00:23:20]:
I don’t I don’t know if it went underwater. So I think I think he’s I think North Korea’s all talk

Chris [00:23:35]:
Sydney, and then he, and, of course, they helped shoot down that that, plane.

Sam [00:23:40]:
Yeah. That that there’s a lot of really clever hackers in Russia. Government level. It’s not your average group of people. Government level. It’s not your average group of people. It has it has to be done by, like, a a government somewhere. Wow.

Sam [00:24:01]:
That’s that big because it wasn’t it’s not a traditional hack where it’s just their website. It’s their internal servers and stuff within the company.

Chris [00:24:10]:
Yeah. Hence, the need for, in inside access because somebody actually has to put a hard point in there. Somebody’s gotta

Sam [00:24:18]:
I’d say so.

Chris [00:24:18]:
Tap into it physically.

Sam [00:24:20]:
Yeah. So that’s all interesting.

Chris [00:24:23]:
Yeah. Yeah. So What else have we been

Sam [00:24:26]:
up to this week?

Chris [00:24:27]:
What else have we been up to this week? We had the Hamilton Filmmakers Network, Christmas bash that I sort of helped put together. So it

Sam [00:24:34]:
was pretty went really well.

Chris [00:24:35]:
Yeah. Yeah. We had, over a dozen people there, and it was good because they a lot of people hadn’t met each other. I saw that I think I knew everybody there.

Sam [00:24:45]:
Well, you you are the, what’s that word? Networker? Yeah. Networker.

Chris [00:24:50]:
Yeah. The spider in the center of the web. No. I, yeah, I I sort of, didn’t know most of the I think all of them, and I think I invited all of them, although I did recommend that people invite others. And the idea was to get people that are interested in making films from all sorts of access point. So you’ve got actors and crew guys. We had our special effects guy, Roy, you mentioned before.

Sam [00:25:13]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:25:13]:
He was there. And, who else do we have? The Star Wars fan film director, writers, both Ben and Derek was there. Julia Reynolds from Shepard was there. My my director, Adam from, that’s done our Tropfest thing, and we’re working on a project next year together. He was there. Yeah. It was it was pretty, pretty good.

Sam [00:25:38]:
Sounds really good.

Chris [00:25:39]:
Might be some other things coming out about that, but we will, Leave that in a suspenseful

Sam [00:25:46]:
space. You can just leave it in suspense.

Chris [00:25:49]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:25:52]:
What? Yeah. What I ended up doing this week I’m just trying to find the name because if I get this wrong, it’s not gonna be good. The I’m like an honorary member of the school PTA. I live miles away from my daughter’s school, but I help them out with stuff, and I’ll help them out sausage chisels and whatever and oh, that’s right. Yeah. But anyway, they had a last year, they had a sort of Christmas get together, but It’s just desserts at this restaurant that’s just around the road from the school. And I didn’t go last year, but this year I was free. So I went last night.

Sam [00:26:24]:
Extremely long day. Really, really tired. And the restaurant’s called Gostiana. And Gostiana’s in Rucahia, if you know Hamilton, on the way out to a helipo. It’s on the corner. It looks like a Mediterranean

Chris [00:26:36]:
house. Right.

Sam [00:26:38]:
So that’s all

Chris [00:26:38]:
I kinda where you’re talking about.

Sam [00:26:40]:
And, actually, you need to go to this place. Don’t know if they’ll actually do any food that you’ll eat, but you need to go there. So the food is really really good. I’ll start saying that. And apparently, A long time ago, the food was really, really cheap, like ridiculously cheap. But you get this the food is huge. Like, you get this like, I saw the person next to me had an entree last night, And I thought it was a main meal. Anyway, they’ve raised the prices to normal standard prices that you find in town, but the food is still the same and My Big Meals.

Sam [00:27:11]:
And last night, all the old people were there. Lots and lots of old people. And an interesting point was Lots of old people there. And we’re sitting at the table, and I’m looking around and I’m looking around, and there’s lots and lots of stuff everywhere. It’s one of those places that has stuff all on the wall.

Chris [00:27:26]:
Like your museums.

Sam [00:27:28]:
Yes. Sort of.

Chris [00:27:30]:
And and and it’s and it’s got

Sam [00:27:32]:
no real theme. So I turned to the person next to me and they thought this was funny, but I’m deadly serious here. If there’s a zombie apocalypse happening or about to happen, and I’m on that side of town. I’m going into that restaurant. Do you know why?

Chris [00:27:48]:
Because there is blades.

Sam [00:27:50]:
There are so many no. Actual weapons everywhere. Yeah. There’s maces. Armor. There’s shields. There’s daggers, swords, knives. There’s muskets and shotguns and all the stuff stuck to the wall.

Sam [00:28:05]:
There was enough stuff there to cut out, like, 10 people. So keep that in mind.

Chris [00:28:10]:
Yeah. For the zombie apocalypse. Always. I’m always thinking about it. I

Sam [00:28:14]:
yeah. You have to be.

Chris [00:28:15]:
You gotta be

Sam [00:28:16]:
a ready man. You have to you have to have a plan. You have to And if you don’t, I’m sorry. You’re gonna be eating.

Chris [00:28:22]:
And you’re gonna end up eating other people. But Yeah. Oh, did you see the, oh, it It won’t be a spoiler now because this will come out for a while after a while. Yeah. Did you see the latest Walking Dead

Sam [00:28:32]:
this week? No.

Chris [00:28:34]:
No. Show. Oh, have you been watching Walking Dead?

Sam [00:28:38]:
They actually talking about no. I have no idea what’s going on. I know it was zombies. They had to apologize, didn’t they? Did you know that?

Chris [00:28:44]:
I heard something about it. I’d The

Sam [00:28:46]:
network had to apologize.

Chris [00:28:47]:
I saw somebody go spoiler. I saw, Yeah. A headline with spoilers or something and went, reading it again. But, yeah, one of the, earlier characters died. It was unexpected.

Sam [00:29:09]:
Yeah. And yeah. How dare those writers do that?

Chris [00:29:12]:
Well, I mean, dude, I I’ve read the comics, and nothing sacrosanct, and all the the main characters pretty much are dying all the time. You know, so It wasn’t really surprising. And this character was not, like, the the biggest character in there. Yeah. But but, you know, the way the story arc had been going, you didn’t expect it. I didn’t expect it.

Sam [00:29:40]:
No. I think that’s what threw a lot of people. Talking about zombie programs, I can’t remember what it’s called. Is the other one DayZ? Have you seen that?

Chris [00:29:49]:
That’s a a a computer program. That’s a game.

Sam [00:29:53]:
No. Not that. There’s another TV series all about zombies, and it’s can’t remember. Someone’s talking about it last night, and someone said, do you mean World War z? And they said, no. No. Not the movie. It’s another Series, and it’s been made, and they’ve already done, like, 1 or 2 seasons. And the the gist of the story is they’ve got a person that is immune to the zombies.

Sam [00:30:18]:
He’s carrying antibodies or whatever,

Chris [00:30:20]:
and they have to get him from one side of the country to the other. Wow. It took him to a research center,

Sam [00:30:26]:
and, that’s what the whole show’s about. So I think, yeah, there might be something else you need to check

Chris [00:30:32]:
Yeah. I will, actually. And that that’s funny because in, The Walking Dead, of course, that’s what they thought they were doing Yeah. Having read the comics, I knew better, and then it was revealed 2, 3 weeks ago, the guy went, no. No. No. There is no cure. I just lied because I’m useless.

Chris [00:30:48]:
And Oh. If I told you there was a cure and you have to get me to Washington, you guys would protect me, and and then the guy nearly killed him for for doing that.

Sam [00:30:57]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:30:58]:
But, yeah. And which is great. I mean, it’s exactly what you would do if you had

Sam [00:31:03]:
a bunch of people

Chris [00:31:05]:
and And you had a bunch of people and you could sell them on that sort of snake oil, you’d be doing it because it’ll save your life, bro.

Sam [00:31:11]:
Yeah. Sure would. Gotta gotta gotta work the game.

Chris [00:31:14]:
Personally, I’ll just go with my skills.

Sam [00:31:17]:
Yeah. I don’t think my skills would help me much.
