Sam [00:00:06]:

Hello, and welcome to episode 449 of the Chris and Sam Podcast.

Chris [00:00:26]:

I’m Chris

Sam [00:00:26]:

And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fix of randomness technology in life powered by a place called Singdai.

Chris [00:00:34]:

And for people in Hamilton, that’s a legendary, takeaway shop.

Sam [00:00:39]:

We think it’s pretty good. We just had a a fish burger. If you thought 6 pieces of fish was too much for a burger, don’t go there.

Chris [00:00:48]:

Yeah. I tell you. They couldn’t even fit the bread around this fish burger.

Sam [00:00:53]:

I don’t know what the deal is like. I don’t know what his thinking is there.

Chris [00:00:58]:

I don’t know. I think I think fish is cheaper than bread. We’ll use more

Sam [00:01:03]:

bread. I know. He could he could literally do that. He could get the 3 on top, 3 on the bottom, and bread in between. It’s mental.

Chris [00:01:11]:

Yeah. It’s it was very good, though. Very good. Okay.

Sam [00:01:15]:

What’s been happening this week?

Chris [00:01:16]:

So this week, not a lot. Not a lot. Just been indoors working, pretty

Sam [00:01:22]:

much. Living the dream. My my relatives have gone back to the UK this morning.

Chris [00:01:27]:

Oh, yeah. What what’s the prognosis of the trip? They

Sam [00:01:29]:

enjoy it? Yeah. They loved it. They did heaps of all the touristy stuff. Lots of it. Shout out to any family members that are now listening to Podcast, I gave them a fridge magnet, which, one of them was very excited about. My mom collects fridge magnets. She’s gonna love this. Okay.

Sam [00:01:45]:

And then my auntie says, how do I listen to this? I said, on any podcast app or just go to the website. Yeah. The Chris and Sam podcast .com. Oh, okay. Okay. So I had that happen. I went to see a podiatrist earlier on in the week. I’ve got a banged toe.

Chris [00:02:02]:

Alright.

Sam [00:02:02]:

It’s been giving me trouble for a while. He got pretty excited when he was like, I can’t just fix it. I have to do surgery. What? So that’s happening tomorrow morning. Oh. So I’m getting a partial toenail removal. Oh. Rip that out.

Sam [00:02:16]:

Should be

Chris [00:02:17]:

fun. Oh, no. Is there gonna be time off work or anything? Like, will you be able to walk?

Sam [00:02:23]:

Like I’m taking tomorrow off. But he was like, no. No. No. You’ll be fine. I think it is it might throb a little bit, but you’ll be fine. I’m gonna take it off. Okay.

Sam [00:02:33]:

I’ll see you on Friday. And the funny thing is, like, On the website, they’ve got the price for, like, an initial consultation. Yeah. It’s like 40 minutes $89. I was like, oh, okay. Cool. Because And and initially, he thought, like, he could just fix it up, but he goes, oh, no. That’s that’s pretty stuffed.

Sam [00:02:47]:

And he goes, when when you walk in, They’ve got the sign like a little placard thing, and it’s got the price of the surgery at the top. Like, it just says, hi. Welcome.

Chris [00:02:57]:

Rar ra

Sam [00:02:57]:

ra, and then there’s price. So there’s, not much change out of $600. Ugh. ACC has come to the party, But he said they will only take off maybe a 120 or a 140 or something. I was like, okay. Whatever. But do you know what I have to do? Hey. I need you to come 10 minutes early because I have to write you a prescription.

Sam [00:03:22]:

You then have to go next door And tell them that it’s for you, but it’s with us, and they’ll just give it to you and we cover the cost. It’s a type of acid. And MedSafe have said that I can’t just go get it. The patient actually has to go get it. So you go get it, bring it back to me, and then, we’ll use that. I was like, okay.

Chris [00:03:45]:

But, that dodgy as hell.

Sam [00:03:47]:

Yeah. I know. And so I’m like so they’re in the understanding that I’m just not going over there and then running off with this asset and doing something else with it. He goes, yes. That’s right. Just bring it back to me. I don’t know what the asset is for.

Chris [00:03:59]:

They must do it all the time, though. But, Yeah. It’s it’s that’s dumb. It’s just dumb.

Sam [00:04:04]:

It’s just weird. When he was telling me, I was just like, okay. And he was like looking

Chris [00:04:08]:

for the candid camera.

Sam [00:04:09]:

Like, what? Says to me, So, we we you know, I we’re gonna do this partial toenail removal. Now do you do you know what that is? Jose, you’re gonna partially remove my toenail? It’s in the name? Yes. That’s

Chris [00:04:25]:

right. Okay, dude.

Sam [00:04:27]:

And honestly, his office, this 1 dude, he had, like, 3 monitors in this office, and there’s a chair a really weird big chair in the middle saying, look at your foot, A wall of shoes. It’s probably as big as this whole area we’re sitting in right

Chris [00:04:42]:

now, which is pretty big.

Sam [00:04:43]:

And, for an yeah. Like, that’s the whole thing. The chair’s like there is mental. So that happened. And the other thing, I was doing some stuff on giantpumpkins.hoodnz, broke the website, thought I’d fix it. I actually updated the whole thing, Broke it for 36 hours. Thought I’d deleted everything at one point.

Chris [00:05:02]:

Oh, god.

Sam [00:05:03]:

Lots of swearing, and got it back online, and it’s great now. So it looks good. Runs faster. Check it out.

Chris [00:05:09]:

Go to pumpkins giant pumpkins.co.n

Sam [00:05:12]:

For all your pumpkin

Chris [00:05:13]:

needs. I’m sure people will be flocking there straight after this.

Sam [00:05:16]:

Hey. So hey. Yeah. The pumpkin season is almost here. People love my pumpkin memes. I make pumpkin memes now.

Chris [00:05:23]:

Did you check out that, comic Book 4

Sam [00:05:26]:

I did, and I run into the problem that I run into with, like, no. Most of these buddy AI things, they just stop halfway through. So I got 2 panels out of 4, and then it just started grinding because it was too many resources are being used on the server

Chris [00:05:40]:

level.

Sam [00:05:41]:

Alright. Pretty cool looking, though.

Chris [00:05:42]:

Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:05:43]:

Yeah. Like, really

Chris [00:05:44]:

cool because Kel’s just Kel’s done a whole bunch of images of our D and D characters, and been sharing them, but it was 1 panel at a time he’s sharing. So he’s only doing one panel at a time. So it’s each Oh. One of our characters in a in a pose type thing.

Sam [00:05:58]:

It’s pretty cool. This was doing 4 Yeah. The one do 4 panels, which is, I think, the stand.

Chris [00:06:01]:

We’ll we’ll put a link in the show notes because I can’t even remember what it’s called right

Sam [00:06:05]:

now.

Chris [00:06:05]:

No. But it’s, it’s an AI cartoon generator.

Sam [00:06:09]:

Oh, couple of things. You posted a photo from 10 years ago. You have aged terribly.

Chris [00:06:14]:

Thank you. Thank you so much for that.

Sam [00:06:17]:

No. It’s you in front of a green screen. I was trying to think of and, obviously, 10 years ago, people were putting you in front of things, and people are doing it now, Which is funny.

Chris [00:06:25]:

Yeah. So the reason that came up was Okay. I was talking to to to to Jason and Kyle just before we started our D and D session, so we’re all on Zoom. Yeah. And, Jason says, oh, while we’re waiting for the others to join because we just before we all started, check out this video I made. And so he did a video for the local council. Oh. Yeah.

Chris [00:06:44]:

And they do this, shake and quake thing every year.

Sam [00:06:48]:

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The big shake out thing,

Chris [00:06:50]:

whatever it is. Shake out. That’s the one. And so he did this video, and he just did it at home in the weekend because he said, we had this meeting to about what we’re gonna do. And it get kept getting pushed out and kept Getting pushed out. Kept getting pushed out, and then they go, oh, we’ll do it on Monday. And he goes and then we knew there was gonna be crisis on Monday because rainfall or something like that. I don’t remember what it was.

Chris [00:07:09]:

He’s out at Gisborne, and, he goes, so I just, oh, I’ll just make one at home. So he’s videoed himself going to the loo and having a big earthquake during the loo. It’s is the funniest thing.

Sam [00:07:20]:

I’ll check

Chris [00:07:21]:

it for you afterwards. Yeah. But, and and while we were talking, he showed us that, and he goes, it’s really hard to film yourself, Like, when you’re acting and stuff? Yeah. Yeah. You gotta he says, I’ve got a a tripod, but it’s not great. And then I said, oh, yeah. Because I I remember I had to use because the whole point of this green screen thing was I was looking at the phone, which was tied to my GoPro so I could set up the GoPro. Yep.

Chris [00:07:44]:

And I pressed, It’s for everybody listening. I pressed, take a photo instead of start filming. Ended up with this random photo of me just standing in front of the green screen looking at my phone. And then I was like, oh, it’s the wrong one. I yeah. I did whatever. And then for whatever reason, it was at Christmas time, in 2013, and I, I posted on on, Facebook going, this is what my Christmas is like. And then I I didn’t think about it.

Chris [00:08:12]:

I had no concept of the idea, but everybody started putting backgrounds on my green screen. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah. Yeah. It was It was actually really, really funny because it it went

Sam [00:08:25]:

nuts. I know. Because I was like when I first saw your post, I was like, I was like, 5 comments. I was like, okay. But in reality, it’s, like, 79 or something silly.

Chris [00:08:32]:

Yeah. Yeah. If you go if you you click on the photo and you look at the comments on the photo and yeah. It it gets it’s pretty. My uncle is just evil with that, the righteous brothers one.

Sam [00:08:44]:

Yeah. Yeah. Talking about Cool stuff like that.

Chris [00:08:48]:

We will put a link to that maybe in the show notes if we can.

Sam [00:08:51]:

Yeah. We’ll share that. Have you seen Jamie Oxley? Did you see he shaved off his facial hair?

Chris [00:08:56]:

I thought I did, actually. I I I I did a double take at something on Facebook and went, and but I I didn’t click on it. Whatever.

Sam [00:09:03]:

Yeah. So he’s done that, and now he’s got a, give a little page to help raise money for his nephew, I think it is, That has, multiple no. No. Muscle dystrophy, I think. MD. Yeah. One of them. One of those diseases.

Sam [00:09:18]:

Sorry if I got it wrong. But, anyway, he always said to him, when you turn 18, I’ll shave the whole mullet off and and give you the money, and it’s gone past that. Like, he’s 5 years or something like that. But he’s doing it, and he’s I think he’s live streaming it or at least videoing it. He’s gonna do the whole thing. He’s had a mullet for 10 years, I think he said. His 2 littlest kids have never seen him without it. Yeah.

Sam [00:09:41]:

Most people know him for the mullet. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So And

Chris [00:09:44]:

when you’re a truck driver, that’s that would be his signature thing everywhere he stops.

Sam [00:09:49]:

Yeah. So, I think that’s happening maybe Next month, early next month sometime. So we’ll have a link in the show notes for that as well, so we’ll share that around.

Chris [00:09:57]:

Yeah. Yeah. Support the fans of the show. That’d be great.

Sam [00:10:00]:

That’s right.

Chris [00:10:01]:

Cool. What do we got news wise? I I’m gonna start with it just because I think it’s the funniest thing. It’s a Trump thing.

Sam [00:10:09]:

It better be funny.

Chris [00:10:10]:

I think it is. So do you know who Cassidy Hutchinson is?

Sam [00:10:14]:

Not off the top of my

Chris [00:10:15]:

head. Okay. So she Testified at to congress, for the impeachment of of of Donald Trump. Okay. And, basically, she was Mark Meadows, who’s his chief of staff, he she was his secretary. So Okay. She was in the room when they’re having meetings and all that sort of stuff, But mostly the, you know, Mark Meadows thing. Anyway, she’s just come out with a book.

Chris [00:10:39]:

It’s just being launched. I think it’s this week. Okay. And so one of the things happening in the book Go. Do you know why Trump didn’t wear a mask all that time when he was because he kept getting crap about not wearing A mask ever?

Sam [00:10:53]:

Did it, was it too hard for him to put on? Almost. Oh, that

Chris [00:10:57]:

was a really good guess. Hey. Hey. She’s in the book, she says something like because I haven’t read it. I’ve heard it. Something like Very 1st days of the, you know, the pandemic, and it’s it’s coming to the country, and it’s in the country. They went to a mask making factory, And the Oh, okay. Mask making fact.

Chris [00:11:17]:

You know, everyone’s taking photos of them. Yeah. Okay. And she’s with them and all the rest of it. Yeah. And she’s quite outspoken. And she’s, At this point, she was 24 years old, I think. You know? So she’s quite young.

Chris [00:11:26]:

And, so she she goes over, and He’s been wearing they’ve all got these masks on as they’re touring through the company and looking at it. And she goes over to him, and she goes, what’s that on your mask? What’s going on with your mask? He takes it off, and it’s rubbed his bronzer off. Oh, yeah. The pumps.

Sam [00:11:44]:

Oh my god.

Chris [00:11:45]:

Got white streaks on his face where the bronzer’s been rubbed off. Okay. In his mask, Things gone black Yeah. Or golden or tan or purple or pumpkin or whatever that

Sam [00:11:53]:

color is. Champ

Chris [00:11:55]:

orange. Champ orange. And so he was, like, and he threw it away, and he refused to wear a mask. Oh my god.

Sam [00:12:02]:

Think Well, because, I

Chris [00:12:03]:

mean props.

Sam [00:12:04]:

Well, he’s super vain. So

Chris [00:12:08]:

Sorry. I I don’t know. I thought that was funny, so I thought I’d cheer

Sam [00:12:12]:

That

Chris [00:12:15]:

makes sense.

Sam [00:12:16]:

This week as well, I forgot to mention. Sarah, my partner, went to a work function, which was fine. I dropped her and some other people off at this house. They had a great time. Somehow, they get onto their Phobias that they have. Now Sarah’s phobia is that moth. She can’t stand moths. That’s right.

Sam [00:12:34]:

They’re gonna fly into her ears. That’s the that’s the phobia.

Chris [00:12:37]:

I and and I have a similar thing. It We talked about that. Remember when I first met her in in crisis?

Sam [00:12:43]:

And I understand that. Like, it sort of makes sense to me. Like, I don’t have that phobia. Like, I have to deal with moths all the time if any come in the house. Not a problem. So she’s talking about this person at this thing, and she goes, oh, she’s got a phobia of holes. What does that mean? She goes, like, just like if there’s heaps of holes in the thing, like Like a crumpet freaks her out because it’s got holes in it or pegboard. Like, the ceiling tiles with the hole.

Sam [00:13:06]:

The or the acoustic ones. Because And a lot of

Chris [00:13:09]:

people that’s not that uncommon. And when those when those iPhones first came out with all the things on the back because I I can’t remember the name for that phobia, There’s a name for it.

Sam [00:13:18]:

I’m sure there are.

Chris [00:13:19]:

IPhone, like, freaked people out who had

Sam [00:13:21]:

it, and it was a big thing. Was the iPhone thing?

Chris [00:13:23]:

Well, because they had those 4 or 5 Cameras Oh. When they first came out with multiple cameras on the back Really? Okay. Freaked some people out there. That’s it. So

Sam [00:13:32]:

Then somebody else came up with I think this I think they learned about this 1 on the night. Tell me if this is normal. They have a phobia If anything cast a shadow on their

Chris [00:13:45]:

food What?

Sam [00:13:47]:

So they were, like, moving stuff. So the shadow from the light at nighttime wasn’t on the food.

Chris [00:13:52]:

So not even a person’s shadow. A per a shadow fragment an animate object. Yeah. My god.

Sam [00:13:59]:

And I was like, I have to write this down. Hang on.

Chris [00:14:05]:

Yeah. Actually, well, I did that a bit to the this week too, didn’t I?

Sam [00:14:09]:

I don’t know.

Chris [00:14:10]:

I remember. I I remember saying, oh, I must write that down for a podcast.

Sam [00:14:16]:

I watched some movies this week. Yep. Have you heard of the movie Fall, f a l l, Fall? No. So it Says when a high rise climb goes wrong, best friends Becky and Hunter find themselves stuck at the top of a 2,000 foot TV tower. Oh. And it’s 2022, pretty new. So basically, they climb to the top of this tower. They get stuck up there.

Sam [00:14:38]:

That’s it. That’s the whole gist of the movie. The cool thing is, the movie is pretty good. Like, it’s one of those what yeah. If if you’re into that sort of thing, you know, it’s very,

Chris [00:14:49]:

elevator, lifeboat type movie.

Sam [00:14:51]:

Yeah. Well, it’s sort of you get real anxious because they, like, almost fall off a couple of times and, you know, they’re on top of this 2,000 foot’s mask. So the guy that made it, here’s the interesting thing which I thought was pretty cool. The director goes, we could have filmed this, on a fake On a green screen? Or we could have filmed it on a full, like, fake sort of backdrop thing. And he goes, no. We didn’t do that. So he got the people that had built the 2,000 foot mast, the actual construction company, to come in, and they made a 30 foot High mast that’s identical on top of a mountain. So they just shoot over the mountain, and it looks like they’re really, really high up.

Sam [00:15:32]:

And the 2 girls in the film did, I think, 98% of everything in the film. So they must have been training for a while. Yeah. So that’s pretty cool.

Chris [00:15:42]:

That is cool. That is

Sam [00:15:43]:

cool. And then the other one, which is an old movie, which we came across on, what’s it called, Netflix. I don’t never heard of it before. I like the concept. The movie was a bit average.

Chris [00:15:54]:

Is this the In Time?

Sam [00:15:56]:

Yeah. With old Justin Timberlake.

Chris [00:15:58]:

No. I’ve not seen it.

Sam [00:15:59]:

Okay. I’ll read you this blurb. I think it’s 2011. In a future where people stop aging at 25 But are engineered to live only 1 more year, having the means to buy your way out of the situation as a shot at or more immortality. Right? So they wake up. The when they’re born, they’ve got, like, the, a clock green clock on

Chris [00:16:19]:

their own. Seen that. I haven’t seen that because I thought it was called something else, though. Oh, okay. Right.

Sam [00:16:24]:

Right. Anyway, it was interesting concept, and then so they’re all good. As soon as I hit

Chris [00:16:28]:

25 The rich people have got, like, Youngs and youngs in there. Yeah. And and the poor people are

Sam [00:16:33]:

like And he meets a guy, and the guy’s got, like, a 102 years. And to give it to somebody, you just sort of Shake their hold their

Chris [00:16:40]:

hand?

Sam [00:16:40]:

Yeah. And the guy gives them all his time and then dies. And they’re like, you’re not supposed to have time because they got different zones, And, basically, most people in working class are, have only got, you know, hours to live. So they do the work. They get a bit of time credit, But the cost of everything increases. So they’ll be like, oh, can I get this? I think I can’t remember what it was. He goes, that was $4 yesterday. He goes, it’s $5 now.

Sam [00:17:03]:

Oh, sorry. 5 hours now In the whole currencies

Chris [00:17:06]:

time. Yeah. So Yeah. No. It is it’s actually really, really good. I thought that was a great concept when I saw it. I I was I think I was conflating it with some other movie too.

Sam [00:17:15]:

Oh, yeah. Maybe.

Chris [00:17:18]:

I I’ve gotta mention that I wasn’t I was a bit ambivalent about whether I should mention this, but I’ve only read about it. I had not listened to it. It’s a podcast.

Sam [00:17:26]:

Oh, yeah. This sounds good.

Chris [00:17:28]:

It’s based on something that actually happened in the seventies in, like, Scotland. Okay. And, some guy at the time Taped interviews with all the people involved

Sam [00:17:40]:

Oh, wow. Okay.

Chris [00:17:41]:

Didn’t use them, and now he’s uncovered them. He’s made the same Same guy?

Sam [00:17:45]:

Same guy,

Chris [00:17:46]:

I think. Yeah.

Sam [00:17:47]:

Okay. You’ve already got me.

Chris [00:17:48]:

You’re interested. Later. And it’s called Hooked on Freddie. Okay. And it’s about the time that this No. Animal rights activist got done by the police for masturbating a dolphin. Okay. And there was a tour boat full of

Sam [00:18:08]:

people. Okay. That’s my watching this thing. You you were answering it because I was like, Hang on. I said, don’t what?

Chris [00:18:14]:

Okay. Yeah. No. The dolphin didn’t lodge a complaint. No. I did. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:18:17]:

The 2 of them full of, people lodged a complaint. And the, the little bit that I did read is, like because I I read it. This is too clickbaity. And then I read it, and I’m like and it went quite in-depth onto the story, and I’m like, long does this podcast go

Sam [00:18:32]:

for, though?

Chris [00:18:32]:

Because it’s like 6 episodes or something, I think. I I don’t know.

Sam [00:18:36]:

Is there a story there? Because you’ve already told me

Chris [00:18:39]:

most of it. I don’t know if Is there anything else? But I’m like, oh, yeah. You could do a podcast about anything, really, couldn’t

Sam [00:18:46]:

you? You can and everyone is. Yeah. Here we are. The trip. We cover everything.

Chris [00:18:51]:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:18:52]:

Yeah. Oh, no. That’s interesting.

Chris [00:18:54]:

After we started, everybody else should’ve just went, oh, there’s no point.

Sam [00:18:57]:

I think so. But that’s interesting. Like, I I like the concept of recorded it all that time, but didn’t know didn’t have a platform probably. Like, Like, he couldn’t probably start to BBC

Chris [00:19:06]:

or whoever. I think he wrote an article about it at the time. Okay. That makes sense. He was, like, a reporter.

Sam [00:19:11]:

Oh, okay. Yeah.

Chris [00:19:12]:

And he had the the tapes of the interviews for Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:19:15]:

Yeah. His research.

Chris [00:19:17]:

So he had the tapes, and then he was like, oh, I’ll make a podcast out of it. But, yeah, I I don’t know. So it’s called Hooked on Freddy. I don’t think I put the link in here, but I can find the link. I’ll put it to you so I can put it show now.

Sam [00:19:29]:

I have mentioned this in the past, the guilt guilt podcast, Finding Heidi, Which is the New Zealand one by Ryan Fox. He was trying to find, the body of the missing, Swedish tourist or whatever they were. Heidi, watch your face. And, he he released the last 4 episodes all at once for paid subscribers, and the rest of us are waiting for the next couple to come out. And he’s just like he kept to drop them because all this stuff was happening, like, more and more stuff. So at the moment

Chris [00:19:59]:

More and more stuff With the Heidi thing or more and more stuff randomly

Sam [00:20:02]:

doing? The Heidi case.

Chris [00:20:03]:

Oh, right.

Sam [00:20:04]:

Okay. These other people have decided to come out of the woodwork and said, No. I saw them on this day. They were in a hut. The guy was looking down, and they were dragging the girl away. I was there to buy him dope, And I was 18, and then I left. And it’s these 3 brothers who are absolutely nefarious in the whole area. Everybody knew him.

Sam [00:20:24]:

Only 1 of the brothers is alive right now, and he is a menace on Facebook. They’re digging up all the stuff. He’s posting, like, graphics and memes where he says, something like, oh, when you bury your body, there’s only 1 person that sort of knows it or something. Like, there’s all these random ass things. He got done for killing someone in 2009 by running them over, And they’re on their motorbike. He just drove over them. So and then he went on the run. When they discovered her no.

Sam [00:20:55]:

When they discovered the body of Burban. This guy just went and got a fake passport back in 1989, I think it was, and went to America for 10 years. Right. So all this is happening right now. So there’s no more episodes. He’s trying to sort it out. At the same time, there’s a Facebook group talking about this podcast. All these people are coming on.

Sam [00:21:18]:

Right? So initially, somebody dug up this random forum I’ve never heard in my life. There was a guy called Snappyhead on there, And he knew all this information. He’s the guy that has now said, I saw them. I think I was the last person to see them. She looked absolutely petrified. Was buying some dope. I don’t know what was going on. Right? Then this other person’s just come on called Scullery Winch or something, And she’s just been dropping random stuff.

Sam [00:21:44]:

Turns out, she’s the sister to these 3 guys, And she’s just posted, like, today, the truce gotta come out. Like, I’m I’m so she’s gone and spoken to this guy that’s doing the podcast. So, anyway, it’s all happening real time.

Chris [00:22:00]:

So the sad thing for me is that Why the hell are they talking to the podcast? Why aren’t they talking to the police? You know what I mean?

Sam [00:22:07]:

Like These people have spoken to the police multiple times over the years, and the police go, We’ve got our person. His name’s David Tomahiri.

Chris [00:22:15]:

Oh, of course. Okay. Yeah. Sorry.

Sam [00:22:18]:

Yeah. Yeah. Then, apparently, in an episode that’s about to come out from the comments I’ve read, They asked the sole cop in this area that was there during the time, have you heard of these 3 brothers? Nah. Never heard of them. Don’t know who they are. So everybody is like, no. No. No.

Sam [00:22:36]:

Everybody knows this family. Like, they are crazy. The cop must know who they are or they’ve got something on the cop. Anyway, it’s all happening in real time. They did a big search the other day. They took in, they went with metal detectors and a whole, search and rescue team to try and find, her remains. Yeah. Didn’t find anything as far as I’m aware.

Sam [00:22:59]:

Everybody’s just like, why don’t you have cadaver dogs? Apparently, that’s not a thing that anybody only police can bring them in in New Zealand.

Chris [00:23:04]:

Oh,

Sam [00:23:05]:

really? Yeah. Because if But

Chris [00:23:06]:

It’d be a bit late for that now, wouldn’t it?

Sam [00:23:09]:

No. Really? Yeah. So, there’s, we talked about this years ago. There’s a podcast called Someone Knows Something, David Ridgen from Canada, CBC, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, he does an amazing investigative thing very similar to this podcast. He’s investigating stuff 30, 40 years later, brings some cadaver dogs, and they still

Chris [00:23:33]:

indicate. Wow. Yeah. I would not

Sam [00:23:34]:

have This kid in one of his stories, a kid just disappears on a fishing trip. And it was like, did he get kidnapped or just fall in the water? And the the water’s like crazy, Like logs and swamp and all sorts, and they brought in the dog, and the dog went out to the log and just went nuts. And they’re like, yeah. There’s there’s dead person there. So, anyway, yeah, apparently, they it’s a strong scent for the dogs once they trained on it. Wow. Anyway, that’s been happening. Damn.

Sam [00:24:01]:

Damn. Are you all over Blue Sky,

Chris [00:24:03]:

Chris? What what’s Blue Sky?

Sam [00:24:06]:

What? So Blue Sky It’s the, social networking app that everybody’s moving to because it’s better than Twitter.

Chris [00:24:15]:

I thought there was threads.

Sam [00:24:17]:

No. That’s something else. So you’re just not keeping up, Chris.

Chris [00:24:21]:

No. I’m not. Old. You I’ve just I’ve just Activated Twitter or x on my, Publer account and started posting

Sam [00:24:30]:

that. Yes. Right. No. So, The who was CEO of Twitter? Jack, what’s his face? Dorsey.

Chris [00:24:37]:

Right? Oh, no. Oh, no. That no. That’s Wikipedia. Oh, no. Jack Dorsey.

Sam [00:24:41]:

Yeah. Jack Dorsey’s Twitter. So when Elon took it over, Jack left, and then what he’s done is he found this other thing called Blue Sky, and he’s basically funded it. It’s almost identical to Twitter. The only thing is it’s invite only at the moment, and they do a thing. It must be built on some sort of block chain y thing. That’s the thing here. So, basically, there was a mess

Chris [00:25:00]:

So you’re you’re showing off that you’ve got an invite? Is this what we’re

Sam [00:25:03]:

Oh, no. I no. Someone just mentioned Paul Breslin just mentioned it, and I was like, yeah. Give me an invite because he had a whole

Chris [00:25:08]:

Alright.

Sam [00:25:08]:

So it’s just like Twitter. But the thing is, there’s no bots, no nothing. And if a bot came in or somebody hassled somebody, Everybody’s connections are all going back to that invite so they can trace it back to how that person got in is what they’re doing. But, I think the whole of, like, the New Zealand Twitter crowd who was hanging around for Secret Santa and all that, they’re all on there now.

Chris [00:25:33]:

Cool. Yeah. Because, yeah, I I I remember Paul from back in the day when we were doing the social media club.

Sam [00:25:39]:

Exactly. I was like, aye. So there’s a whole bunch of,

Chris [00:25:42]:

Oh, you’re gonna have to send me an invite now.

Sam [00:25:43]:

I don’t know if I don’t know if I can just send it or how it works, but, yes, I will.

Chris [00:25:47]:

Well, whenever you work it out. Don’t worry because I’m not in

Sam [00:25:50]:

a hurry.

Chris [00:25:51]:

Not in a hurry. I got this this is a little Fact that I thought was interesting.

Sam [00:26:01]:

Interesting enough to

Chris [00:26:02]:

bring it up here. Interesting enough to bring up. So There’s been a drought in wherever it is in the States for a long, long time. There’s always a drought in the States. Sometimes it’s just somewhere.

Sam [00:26:12]:

There’s 2 things.

Chris [00:26:13]:

This one.

Sam [00:26:13]:

There’s always 2 things, A shooting and a drought.

Chris [00:26:17]:

Well yeah. And quite often well, seasonally, there’s always a hurricane and wildfires, but, you know Okay. Yeah. Anyway, so this drought, has been impacting the

Sam [00:26:27]:

Mississippi. Okay.

Chris [00:26:27]:

Yeah. Right? So less water flow into Mississippi. The Mississippi slowed down, and the flow is so weak that the sea is encroaching.

Sam [00:26:37]:

Oh, wow. So

Chris [00:26:38]:

Yeah. Okay. Injects Up upstream. So the the saltwater is now coming up the Mississippi. Right? Which is the main Source of drinking water for New Orleans Yes. Okay. And and other places, but I think New Orleans is the the the main thing there. So they’re building higher levies to try and slow the the the water flow of this ocean into the Mississippi, But at the moment, they’re barging in 3,000,000 gallons of drinking water per day.

Chris [00:27:12]:

Woah. Into New Orleans. I’m like, that’s not sustainable, is it? Like know.

Sam [00:27:18]:

That’s Like

Chris [00:27:18]:

And and and but The way the guy the way the news or whatever it was was talking about, it was like, yeah. No. They they can up it. They can they can increase it from there if They need to.

Sam [00:27:29]:

It’s hard to work out in my mind if that’s a lot or not. And do they normally have they must have water storage capacity normally, Like, they suck the water out, treat it, and then

Chris [00:27:39]:

because I’m I’m pretty sure that whole area, has a really high water table.

Sam [00:27:45]:

Oh,

Chris [00:27:46]:

okay. So their water tank storage system would like, it’s not like they have a reservoir

Sam [00:27:51]:

there. No. That’s the right question.

Chris [00:27:53]:

Yeah. I don’t think they would.

Sam [00:27:54]:

But they must have something That stockpiles a little bit of it. Like Yeah. Yeah. It’s not going from the Mississippi to your tap. There’s something in between.

Chris [00:28:02]:

And then it’ll be those Tall towers

Sam [00:28:04]:

and Oh, yeah.

Chris [00:28:05]:

Yeah. They always have in the states. Uh-huh. Like, I’m

Sam [00:28:07]:

guessing. I’m guessing. So if they get a ton more rain, Can it push the sea back out?

Chris [00:28:14]:

Yeah. I think if if the upstream water tributaries or whatever you call them, increased, then then it’ll it’ll it’ll go back to normal.

Sam [00:28:24]:

Oh, okay. So at the moment, this is a stopgap measure, but it could carry

Chris [00:28:28]:

on for ping that it’ll it’ll, It’s a temporary thing.

Sam [00:28:31]:

It’s gonna get worse, and they’ll need more because global warming.

Chris [00:28:35]:

Yeah. Global warming. Yeah. Anyway So I thought that was interesting because I’d never really thought about that.

Sam [00:28:42]:

Oh, last week’s episode, you had the random fact about, 2% of all stabbings in America were from Stilettos.

Chris [00:28:49]:

Yeah. And I I will say I just stipulated, though. I wasn’t sure that was a fact.

Sam [00:28:54]:

Yes. That’s right. And so I was putting the link to the show notes last week, And sometimes when because we had that conversation, I checked it out. I couldn’t find anywhere stats about it. Right? Yeah. But There are so many stories about it. I think there was one from Vice, and there was one from the, the Museum of Modern Art Was talking about the stiletto and how often it’s been used as a stabbing weapon, and then there was just a list of stories from all over the place of people being stabbed. So I think it was correct.

Sam [00:29:24]:

There was just no stat that I could find.

Chris [00:29:26]:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I think the thing that that we disagreed with or I disagreed with the fact. As it was said to me, was that it was fatal stabbing. No. Don’t think that no. I don’t think it’ll be fatal.

Sam [00:29:39]:

From the stories I read, it was, like, you know, rah rah rah, stab stab, but not, not fatal.

Chris [00:29:44]:

Actually, he’s talking about stabby stab. This this, I just gotta take a second to open this up. This story just I have to read it because it’s just

Sam [00:29:56]:

k. We’re gonna end on this

Chris [00:29:57]:

one. We’re gonna end on this one. Okay. So the headline, I thought, this is a, clickbait headline. But when I read it, I’m like, oh, okay. I yeah. I have to share this. Okay.

Chris [00:30:11]:

Indiana women admits to mistakenly stabbing baby niece instead of dog that ate his sandwich, police say. That’s the headline.

Sam [00:30:19]:

Okay. Okay. Is that sort of like you’re reaching for the dog and you miss and you had the baby?

Chris [00:30:24]:

Yeah. So the Indianapolis, Metro Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing shortly before 11 PM on Tuesday at an inn a Days Inn. Okay. Okay. They found a 1 year old girl stabbed in the neck.

Sam [00:30:39]:

Oh, that’s not

Chris [00:30:39]:

good. A short time later, police found the suspect hiding near a bush outside Hotel.

Sam [00:30:44]:

I always love it when they’re hiding in a bush.

Chris [00:30:45]:

They’re like, no one can see me. Yeah. Yeah. I’m Homer. I’m Homer Simpson. Police arrested the girl’s 32 year old aunt Okay. Sharon Key. Here’s a photo of that beauty.

Sam [00:30:59]:

Oh, yep. She’s

Chris [00:31:00]:

She looks either way. According to police, the suspect carefully said the set stabbing was an accident. Police, said Key told them the family went to Burger King to pick up food and return to the hotel. She claimed her pit bull ate her chicken sandwich According to court records, so she got angry and chased the dog around the room with a knife. This is already not okay. No. No. No.

Chris [00:31:24]:

No.

Sam [00:31:24]:

No. That’s right. That’s right.

Chris [00:31:25]:

It’s not okay. When the job dog jumped on the bed because it’s being chased by a crazy woman with a knife Yeah. Where the child was lying down, Key said she tried to stab the dog, but missed and stabbed her niece by mistake. Alright. All this time I’ve been going, you just gotta get rid of the guns. But, no, it’s the Americans. You just gotta get rid of the Americans.

Sam [00:31:51]:

Any American listeners out there, we love you. Thank you. Appreciate

Chris [00:31:54]:

you. And then, the baby’s grandfather said, It’s stupid, and at the same time, she’s a grown up. She should have known the baby was sitting right there. I want the book thrown at her. Yeah. Anyway, she’s, already been in jail more than 20 times over the last decade. Oh, okay. Court records shows she’s pleaded guilty of stabbing a woman with a boxcar during a fight at a gas

Sam [00:32:20]:

station. So going to go to things with a stabby?

Chris [00:32:23]:

Stabby

Sam [00:32:24]:

stab. Okay. This is such a weird story. Make makes you one makes you wonder if she was actually chasing the dog at all, ever.

Chris [00:32:32]:

I I honestly don’t know. Like, it’s have you ever got that angry that you wanted to stab anything?

Sam [00:32:40]:

No. Not stab.

Chris [00:32:41]:

No. I couldn’t imagine wanting to stab anything just For the fact that it’d make a freaking mess, I’d much rather strangle the top. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, It I would not think to stab. Like, that just seems odd. Anyway

Sam [00:32:57]:

Alright. That brings us to the end of the podcast with a few points to ponder Until we see you next week. Until then, I’m Sam.

Chris [00:33:04]:

I’m Chris. See you. Bye.
