Chris [00:00:25]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:00:25]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fix of randomness technology in life, and I’m struggling today, Chris. I’m very tired. I blame you.

Sam [00:00:39]:
Standup It
Chris [00:00:40]:
was a
Sam [00:00:40]:
TV show.
Chris [00:00:41]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So shout out, first of all, to Kath. Kathy, if you’re if you’re listening.
Sam [00:00:46]:
Welcome along. Yeah. We look forward to listening to the other 4 53 episodes we’ve got.
Chris [00:00:51]:
Yeah. Well, she said she’d be listening today, which, obviously, this won’t be uploaded yet. So she’ll be listening to my la our last episode.
Sam [00:01:00]:
Okay.
Chris [00:01:00]:
But, anyway, hopefully, she she likes it, and she’ll be listening again. So, welcome to you and to anybody else that came along after, I I stood on stage with the Chris and Sam Podcast T shirt.
Sam [00:01:12]:
Yep. You did. You sure did. You, promoted that well.
Chris [00:01:16]:
Let let’s talk about that, and get it out of the way.
Sam [00:01:19]:
I will say no. No. I will say, like, if you were crap, I’d tell you that. Yeah. You know that.
Chris [00:01:24]:
I I know I I I I believe Adam would be the same.
Sam [00:01:29]:
Yeah. No. Adam yeah. Yeah. Exactly.
Chris [00:01:31]:
Adam Adam’s one of the
Sam [00:01:32]:
Now let’s
Chris [00:01:32]:
Now hang on. Serious critics.
Sam [00:01:34]:
I This is let’s just confirm Adam Harvey
Chris [00:01:36]:
Adam Harvey.
Sam [00:01:37]:
Because the 2 Adams were together Last
Chris [00:01:39]:
night? Yeah.
Sam [00:01:40]:
Yeah. And hello to Adam McFall. Yeah. But I know Adam Harvey would have told you.
Chris [00:01:44]:
Yeah. Yeah. So he He said that I was in his top 3 out of what was that? 8 people?
Sam [00:01:51]:
8, I think.
Chris [00:01:51]:
Yeah. I I’ll take that. I’m I’m pretty pleased with that.
Sam [00:01:55]:
I would say that too because, you were good, and then some people were shocking. It was a big gap, and some of those people, I’m gonna say mainly 1 person, to be honest. Shouldn’t have been that that thing. They should have been open mic night.
Chris [00:02:09]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I I I know who you’re talking about. Does this sound
Sam [00:02:14]:
I don’t know. Yeah. It’s just it’s just it’s up a little bit, but, hey, we got great feedback about our audio quality last night from Carl and Adam.
Chris [00:02:20]:
Oh, really? Oh, nice.
Sam [00:02:22]:
They were like, oh, like, like, we’re talking about something. And I said, yeah. I’ve gotta remove all your mouth sounds, and when we do ums and ahs, and Carl goes, I can’t hear it. I was like, no. You wouldn’t. It just does it? Like, I know what I’m doing.
Chris [00:02:34]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that that it went well. I I’ll give you my perspective. Yeah.
Sam [00:02:39]:
Yeah. Right?
Chris [00:02:40]:
So I’m out out the back for the first half. I’m the last speaker in the first half. Yes. Speaker 4, and, Comedian 4. And said, welcome to the stage. This comedian, I’m like, oh, he means me.
Sam [00:02:54]:
Is that what he said?
Chris [00:02:56]:
Said something really bad, baby.
Sam [00:02:58]:
I couldn’t catch it. He said something really weird, and it threw me.
Chris [00:03:01]:
Said, he’s got the butt or something written on his on the poster because it had debut.
Sam [00:03:08]:
Ah. That’s what you said.
Chris [00:03:09]:
Because that threw me as well.
Sam [00:03:10]:
That threw me because I was like, what? And then I was like, oh, it’s Chris, and I’m trying to fumble with my by the camera. Okay. Cool. That makes sense. So he’s trying to be funny? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Good.
Chris [00:03:18]:
He was drunk. Yeah. No. No. He was a bit hit
Sam [00:03:21]:
and miss.
Chris [00:03:22]:
Yeah. So I Listened. So there’s no I actually thought they’d have a TV on the back there, but
Sam [00:03:29]:
they don’t. You thought they would because there’s a TV at the front.
Chris [00:03:32]:
Yeah. So I thought it
Sam [00:03:32]:
had to be y one Yeah.
Chris [00:03:34]:
Yeah. Yeah. But no. So but you can hear it, obviously.
Sam [00:03:37]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:03:38]:
Yeah. So I was listening to the 1st couple, but the woman before me, Sue, I wasn’t really paying any attention to her with her story about getting on the airplane and stuff.
Sam [00:03:48]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:03:48]:
I thought she she was pretty good from the sounds, but I was I was Way too focused on myself right then. Then I walked out. You cannot see anyone in the audience. No. It was the smallest crowd they’ve had since they began.
Sam [00:04:02]:
Yeah. No. You were saying that. And everyone mentioned that. All the comedians, all the people who’ve been there before.
Chris [00:04:07]:
Officially, on the on the chat, it was like, no. This was the smallest crowd we’ve ever had.
Sam [00:04:12]:
Yeah. Crazy.
Chris [00:04:13]:
Every year. So I was like, oh, damn. So it’s alright. So I could barely see anyone. There’s not a lot of noise. I’m doing my routine Yeah. That I had memorized. I had it pretty good.
Chris [00:04:26]:
I I’ve Miss messed up a little bit, but I managed to put it together. Like, I I forgot a bit, but I Yeah. Managed to put the right piece in before it Became important later on and stuff. So that went okay, but there wasn’t the laughter where I was hoping there would be Yeah. Yeah. And it’s really shakes your confidence. And so I I was like, oh, no. Oh, no.
Chris [00:04:49]:
Oh, no. And then at the end, I had a much more powerful ending planned.
Sam [00:04:56]:
Okay. Okay.
Chris [00:04:57]:
But because I didn’t get the buy in and the engagement
Sam [00:05:01]:
Oh, okay.
Chris [00:05:02]:
Earlier on, and, and the the the room just wasn’t that warmed up. I was like, if I do this Big ending. It’ll just look desperate because it didn’t fit.
Sam [00:05:16]:
Oh, okay. K.
Chris [00:05:16]:
So I sort of, truncated the ending. Yeah. And and that was good because I went through notes today. I made some notes, and that was like, I need an ultimate ending for for different ways people are receiving it because it never even Occurred to me.
Sam [00:05:31]:
No. No. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That’s a that’s a good tip. That’s a good tip.
Chris [00:05:33]:
Yeah. That was a good good learning for me, and I really should practice more with the Camera, at home, like, do you doing it to the webcam? Because I was like, oh, it’s hard with the webcam. There’s no feedback. Well, then on the stage, there’s no freaking feedback either. So
Sam [00:05:49]:
Yeah. Okay. Okay. So it’s not yeah.
Chris [00:05:52]:
Apparently, people laugh Silently, and, actually, I saw that when I was in the audience, for the second half. I could see Kyle, because he’s in front of me, laughing away and moving his hands, but you couldn’t hear him. No. Like, Goddamn you guys. If you’re laughing, and I can’t hear you, and I can’t see you, I don’t know if you’re laughing. It’s really bad.
Sam [00:06:11]:
So top tip when you go to a comedy show, if you find something funny, laugh.
Chris [00:06:14]:
Yeah. Out loud. Out loud.
Sam [00:06:18]:
That’s right. It was interesting. It was interesting. Yeah. It was good.
Chris [00:06:21]:
Anyway, that that was cool. And you weren’t too scared by the, subject matter.
Sam [00:06:28]:
It surprised me. But I think on the whole, I was surprised with how much stuff there was in the whole show. I don’t know.
Chris [00:06:37]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:06:38]:
Yeah. Whereas when you looked at the headliner or the the last woman, Lana, Hers she didn’t have to resort to half that stuff. Yeah. And she was quite more you could see the next level of where she was. Yeah. And her story was really good, and she her timing was Really cool because you’d say a sentence, pause a beat, and then say this other line, and it’s all funny.
Chris [00:06:59]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:06:59]:
Yeah. So, yeah, it was good. Yeah.
Chris [00:07:01]:
Because, who was it? Nat from work, suggested I listen to Joe Rogan, and Jimmy Carr. He was interviewing Jimmy Carr. And Jimmy said that so they were talking quite a bit about, Joe Rogan’s created a a a a comedy club.
Sam [00:07:19]:
Okay. Okay.
Chris [00:07:20]:
And it’s, like, the best comedy club ever. And he goes, yeah. Yeah. I I’m giving back to this community. I’ve put in this
Sam [00:07:28]:
I keep forgetting they did comedy.
Chris [00:07:29]:
Ridiculously big comedy club and has people come there all the time. And and Jimmy Carter here. When I got on the airplane, some people recognized me, and they were going from the UK to Austin. I’m like, They’re going, oh, you’re going you guys yeah. I’m going to see Joe Rogan. Oh, what night are you on? We’ve we’ve just
Sam [00:07:52]:
been flying
Chris [00:07:52]:
there just to go to their comedy club.
Sam [00:07:55]:
Okay. Like,
Chris [00:07:55]:
it’s a tourist destination now. And and he’s like, I’m I’m on the podcast. I’m not doing a show. Like, Hi. What? So, anyway, but what what he said was, like, a pilot has flying hours
Sam [00:08:10]:
Yes.
Chris [00:08:10]:
The comedians should have be counting their hours on stage
Sam [00:08:14]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:08:15]:
Because that’s all that matters. Yeah. Like, writing’s cool, but It’s the time on stage as you as you’re flying out.
Sam [00:08:21]:
Yeah. And I’m like, oh, no. It’s just You hear that about the the really popular, comics from years gone by. They were grinding it out, grinding it out. Like, if you listen to Seinfeld and all his stuff, like, just grinding and grinding and grinding, and they just keep going out,
Chris [00:08:36]:
And that that’s why so many, comedians go to places like New York or wherever or LA or wherever where they can Do a venue every night or even 2 venues every night.
Sam [00:08:48]:
Yes. And I think, I’m sure at Seinfeld, I remember him saying like, I was just so grateful they gave me 5 minutes at, like, 2 in the morning, and there’s no one in the room. There’s, like, 3 people. Yeah. But he goes, that’s a that’s a start. And then now you just keep coming back. And there’s another comedian, Same story. And I think they were working like, helping out in the bar and stuff.
Sam [00:09:06]:
They were just there all the time. I can’t remember who that was now, but just nonstop, and then their face was familiar, Carried on and went from there.
Chris [00:09:13]:
Yeah. Yeah. So it’s pretty good. Anyway, so that’s enough on that.
Sam [00:09:16]:
Next one, 1st Wednesday of December. Yes. Whatever date that is?
Chris [00:09:19]:
I think it’s the 6th December
Sam [00:09:21]:
off the top of
Chris [00:09:22]:
my head. Check check-in the calendar. Don’t take my word.
Sam [00:09:24]:
So, this week, I think, has something to do with scammers or something. I don’t know. I think it’s The Netsafe week. Oh, yeah. Because there’s like a a story of this woman, and she’s like, she got Hey. She got a message from someone, and they said, hey. We need your bank account. So she gave them the bank account details.
Sam [00:09:42]:
Next thing you know, they took $350. That was the whole story. It was very terrible. I don’t know how the scam worked. Anyway, there’s a better scam. I reckon this might be, Listen. If you’re if you’re inclined to run a scam, you should do this because I reckon I reckon it’s like low impact, easy potential high reward. Right.
Sam [00:10:04]:
So this dude down in the Southland because I read the story, and then I didn’t realize how much money it was involved. Yeah. Which is crazy. So, he visited the Gore police on October 17th, and he said, I’ve got Can you check this police ID number? It was given to me over the phone. 4 days earlier, this guy rings him up and says, hey. I’m a police officer. I’m investigating counterfeit notes being produced by the bank that you belong to. And it probably went like that, you know, the bank.
Sam [00:10:30]:
And he’s like, what? ASB? Yeah. That one. So I don’t
Chris [00:10:33]:
you know?
Sam [00:10:35]:
So that was all good. On the instructions, he had to read out the serial numbers of some notes. So this guy had some notes on his hand, And he says, okay. What I need you to do is get 2 books, and between all those pages, put $20,000.
Chris [00:10:49]:
Oh, was that how much it was?
Sam [00:10:50]:
Yeah. Because the original story didn’t say.
Chris [00:10:52]:
No. I I only read the original story. 20 $1,000.
Sam [00:10:57]:
So the idea is, you know, package up the books. You send them overseas to some guy somewhere, and he’s gonna figure out if it’s counterfeit money. Right? Why the hell many
Chris [00:11:05]:
refs are there?
Sam [00:11:06]:
How many freaking notes do they need to check? 20 1,000 dollars. $20,000. The one thing I
Chris [00:11:14]:
I because I noted this as well. The one thing I did note was I think there’s a brilliant way of transferring money because you can’t send
Sam [00:11:22]:
No. Lots of cash. No.
Chris [00:11:23]:
But you put them in between pages of a book, I presume that’s been done quite a bit.
Sam [00:11:28]:
You’re on board now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So they ring up Auckland Mail Center. Turns out the head guy up there was a detective for 30 years just so happens, and he says, oh, okay. It’s gonna be really close. They’re loading the plane with the boxes, the huge cargo crates.
Sam [00:11:43]:
They’ve already put, these 3 cargo crates going on the plane tour have already been loaded. The third one, he jumps in, last ditch. Like, the plane must be, like, almost Powering up, almost ready to go. Rummages, finds it at the bottom, finds package, pulls it out. I’ve got your money. How lucky.
Chris [00:11:59]:
So lucky.
Sam [00:12:00]:
So 4 days. So it’s like he gets a phone call. The next day he goes to the bank. Nobody at the bank gives a crap about anything ever. No. And then for some yeah. He’s just like, I wanna check up on this at the police station. The police station the police must have been like, what are you on about?
Chris [00:12:15]:
How much? Yeah. Because they said he was Talking in code, the way it said it in the first thing. Like, he he went in and got operation blue book. ID case number 27 Zed FX 4325. And they’re like, what are you on about?
Sam [00:12:30]:
I’m amazed they didn’t, like, you know, get rid of him because he’s a nutcase. $20,000.
Chris [00:12:37]:
Oh my god.
Sam [00:12:38]:
The impact for the scammer. Right? But
Chris [00:12:39]:
but who does that? Like so it’s like, okay. Your bank is Producing counterfeit money. Why are
Sam [00:12:47]:
you telling me? How many phone calls do they have to make until they find this 2?
Chris [00:12:52]:
Oh, I’m
Sam [00:12:52]:
But, like, it’s You have a racist. Burn a phone. You ring random numbers in another country, and you’re just like, hey. There’s a thing going on. You’ve gotta send me. And and yeah. We’re from overseas, which makes no sense as well. Yeah.
Sam [00:13:06]:
Yeah. Yeah. We’re we’re
Chris [00:13:08]:
New Zealand police operating out of London. Please send us.
Sam [00:13:11]:
And and make sure it’s 20,000 because, we we destroy quite a few of them in the testing. Anyway
Chris [00:13:18]:
And just put them in a book because that’s how how the police always work. If you spaz, mate, you always just put my quick notes in
Sam [00:13:26]:
the book. Worry about putting him sequentially in the book. We can figure that out at our end. Not a problem. Anyway, that was pretty cool. Actually, talking about, illegal stuff, They have found the largest amount of Methamphetamine in luggage that someone’s trying to bring in. The old record was 19 kilos. This guy has decided to beat it.
Sam [00:13:47]:
He was trying to bring in 20 26 kilos.
Chris [00:13:50]:
Are the Guinness guys here? The Guinness Book of Records guys here? Come on.
Sam [00:13:54]:
So this guy this Canadian national flew into the country, on Saturday, last Saturday. 36 year old, he came, from Montreal, Vancouver, Sydney, and then Auckland. He had, 25.8 kilos of Methamphetamine sewn into 2 suitcases. They said it would have been about worth $9,000,000 on the New Zealand And, yeah. They reckon it was the largest quantity of drugs they’ve ever found in, passengers’ luggage. So he
Chris [00:14:19]:
That’s crazy.
Sam [00:14:19]:
Appeared to he used to, appeared to be a drug courier who was working for Organized Crime Group. I think the book thing’s way better than that.
Chris [00:14:26]:
Yeah. No. That’s way way more
Sam [00:14:27]:
Can you imagine how many books are getting delivered? Oh, I just can’t get over it. 20,000 miles.
Chris [00:14:32]:
I I’m gonna show you a headline. This is a a change of change of pace a little bit, but I I only care about the headline. I don’t really care about the story, but it just cracked me up.
Sam [00:14:41]:
Carl’s gonna love that statement because he was like, I love it when Carl, I love it when Chris just says something and doesn’t know what it is, and then he’s quickly trying to read it and go through your thing. And I was like, no. No. No. No. We don’t do that. He researches everything. Don’t worry about that.
Sam [00:14:54]:
That don’t worry about that.
Chris [00:14:56]:
I had read it. I just don’t care about it. Leonardo DiCaprio’s new girlfriend wasn’t even born when Titanic was released. What is she In the film,
Sam [00:15:08]:
Tom Jack was released. Yes. Yes. That’s
Chris [00:15:10]:
right. She wasn’t even born. That just blows my mind.
Sam [00:15:13]:
No. No. But he only goes what’s the it’s 26 year old.
Chris [00:15:16]:
I think it’s 26 on there. 25 is like Oh,
Sam [00:15:18]:
I can’t yeah. Okay.
Chris [00:15:19]:
It’s over. It’s over because you I don’t wanna I don’t want a long term relationship, and you You’re 25. You still got time to find somebody in.
Sam [00:15:27]:
Hopefully, he doesn’t turn out to be a creepy weirdo at some point.
Chris [00:15:30]:
Yeah. Well, so I I I worked with a chick who went out with him.
Sam [00:15:35]:
Like, when? Like like
Chris [00:15:36]:
A long time ago.
Sam [00:15:37]:
Like Hang on. So at that point, he’d already been, like, 10 Nick?
Chris [00:15:41]:
Oh, no. No. Way before that.
Sam [00:15:42]:
Way before that. So she just goes, I’m going out with a guy called Leonardo DiCaprio.
Chris [00:15:46]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, he was he was fame he was he was famous
Sam [00:15:49]:
for his time.
Chris [00:15:50]:
Or something. Yeah. Whatever it was. And yeah. And it was before Titanic, and I was like, but she yeah. And and it was years previously. But yeah. Because she was into film or something.
Chris [00:16:01]:
She was overseas and stuff. Yeah.
Sam [00:16:04]:
Okay. Great story.
Chris [00:16:05]:
Yeah. No. It’s not.
Sam [00:16:06]:
Good headline. Talking about famous people, I I like this time of the year because it’s when, famous people sometimes go all out For Halloween, The Rock dressed up as David Beckham. That was interesting. Heidi Klum, the world supermodel, Decided to, dress up as a peacock. Right? And, there’s she’s, like, she’s
Chris [00:16:28]:
because she has massive Cosplay skills, Heidi Klum.
Sam [00:16:33]:
Her her her
Chris [00:16:34]:
her Halloween costume style. Yeah. Yeah. I I
Sam [00:16:37]:
don’t think she’s making them herself, but she’s not not
Chris [00:16:39]:
not be here. No. No. I’m not Saying that, but she she makes a real go of it.
Sam [00:16:44]:
Right? So yes. That’s right. And she obviously ropes in her husband. I don’t know if he gets roped in every year, But this year, he did. His name’s Tom Colitz. And, she’s gonna say, who is
Chris [00:16:53]:
she married?
Sam [00:16:54]:
I I wouldn’t have a clue. Yeah. So I don’t know how this conversation went. Right? So, obviously, she’s famous. You’re gonna get photographed, and he must be pretty cool because he’s an egg. Oh Oh, gosh.
Chris [00:17:08]:
He’s like a giant egg. That’s stupid. The the one thing I do like about it, right, Heidi Klum is a a beautiful woman. Yeah. She’s gorgeous. Yeah. And those costumes, she doesn’t give a toss.
Sam [00:17:23]:
Oh, no. No.
Chris [00:17:24]:
You can you half the time, you wouldn’t know who it is. It could be anything.
Sam [00:17:28]:
Yeah. Totally. Totally. Yeah.
Chris [00:17:29]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:17:29]:
And I and I And the husband we’ve never heard of or seen before, he’s an egg. Like
Chris [00:17:34]:
Have a look at the the foot
Sam [00:17:36]:
tall egg.
Chris [00:17:37]:
We’ll put the photo in the In the show notes, it might actually be the photo for the
Sam [00:17:41]:
I think it will be. Yeah.
Chris [00:17:42]:
Yeah. Okay. I I’ve got I’ve got one that I just called Yuck. And I if you have a weak stomach, maybe you just don’t want to know about this, and just fast forward 30 seconds.
Sam [00:17:53]:
Okay. I don’t know where this is going.
Chris [00:17:55]:
Have you heard of Amaranth? It’s a name of a person. Amaranth.
Sam [00:17:59]:
Oh, no. Don’t think so.
Chris [00:18:01]:
She has a OnlyFans Okay. An OnlyFans star, Caitlyn Amaranth.
Sam [00:18:08]:
Yeah. What’s she do? K. What’s she do?
Chris [00:18:11]:
Has revealed that a beer company in Poland will be using her vaginal pap smear As an ingredient to brew a special new flavor, so that’s the yeast they’re going to be using. This is
Sam [00:18:25]:
me shaking my head. I’m just
Chris [00:18:29]:
the look on your face is the look on my face when I read it, I’m like, I need to Read that look.
Sam [00:18:34]:
I’m sure there’s
Chris [00:18:35]:
a lot of audience visitors at the moment for that same screen.
Sam [00:18:39]:
How do you preference. How do you get to that point. You’re like, I’m a brewery. I’m like, you know what? We should do a collaboration. And somebody’s like, you know what? I I know this person. I don’t know her that well, but I’m paying her $12 a month. What now? Yeah. No.
Sam [00:18:52]:
You know what we should do?
Chris [00:18:53]:
We should wanna get to meet her, so I’ve got the I wanna pitch this just so that I can meet her.
Sam [00:18:59]:
Let’s just brainstorm of where we could get yeast from. Okay. Bring in the bring in the whiteboard, guys. Now okay. So we can get it from here. We’ve done that. We’ve done that. Nobody else has done this.
Sam [00:19:12]:
What do you reckon? It’s gonna be great. We’re gonna call it, I haven’t thought about the name yet, but I’m not I’ve already I’ve already messaged her.
Chris [00:19:19]:
I wonder how many fans she’s got on there.
Sam [00:19:22]:
Too many.
Chris [00:19:23]:
Because it doesn’t I don’t think it’s I I read through it before, and I didn’t think it’s
Sam [00:19:28]:
I think some of these
Chris [00:19:28]:
doesn’t say.
Sam [00:19:29]:
No. It some some of these stories Could a lot of these people could have, like, 20 fans. It doesn’t matter.
Chris [00:19:36]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:19:37]:
Would you drink it?
Chris [00:19:39]:
Oh, hell no. Oh, no. Oh, no. I I I should no. If somebody bought me a beer And then they told me afterwards, this is what it was, and I’d drunk part of it, I’d finish it. Like, I wouldn’t care because I the reality is it’s, Chemically, it’s nothing. Right? But I wouldn’t I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it. And if they said, These are the 4 beers here, and this one is this.
Chris [00:20:04]:
I’d be like, yeah. Any of the other 3. Thanks. Like, I
Sam [00:20:07]:
Because last night, I was at the bar, and that guy that’s coming on next month that you’re talking to, He’s gonna do, stand up next month? Can’t remember what his name was?
Chris [00:20:14]:
Andre.
Sam [00:20:15]:
Andre. He was like, I’ll have one of those beers, and, I can’t remember what the brand was, of the cans of beer they had there. Right. Whatever. And he goes, that one. And the guy goes, okay. So you want pina colada? And he goes, no. And I was joking about that.
Sam [00:20:29]:
I was like, is that what that says? Because up until that point, I said I had no idea what that can was. And then now that I look at it, It looks like a pina colada drink. But just before that, it looked like a little animal in a forest. Anyway, he wasn’t keen on that, and I don’t think he’d be keen on the bloody Whatever this thing’s gonna be called.
Chris [00:20:47]:
Yeah. I know. Amaranth special. Fish on a skateboard. I I had to write it like that because What? This is random.
Sam [00:20:56]:
Okay.
Chris [00:20:56]:
So a, a guy got arrested in the US Yeah. Because he attacked a skateboarder.
Sam [00:21:03]:
Is he in Florida? Brother yeah. How did you know? It’s Florida, man.
Chris [00:21:08]:
He no. It’s actually Salt Lake City.
Sam [00:21:11]:
Same thing. They’re all the same to me.
Chris [00:21:13]:
Here’s the machete on the skateboarder. Do you know why?
Sam [00:21:17]:
Heck, I don’t know.
Chris [00:21:19]:
Because he thought he was a fish.
Sam [00:21:20]:
Oh, yes. In the title. What? Hang on. Does he know the fish is out of hey. What? Why is the fish on a skateboard? No. But And who cares about that? If you if you saw a fish on a skateboard, do you think there’s a threat because it’s out of water, or are you like, I’m gonna eat it? I’ve got my handy machete on me because that’s what you normally use to to kill fish with.
Chris [00:21:45]:
So I know. So the the Ryan is the dude that got booked. He’s 23 years old.
Sam [00:21:52]:
He’s an idiot.
Chris [00:21:52]:
He’s an idiot.
Sam [00:21:53]:
Does the other guy get hurt?
Chris [00:21:55]:
Yeah. A a half inch laceration that will require some stitches, so not that badly. Like, it could have been a lot worse, obviously. But, yeah, he stated that he was attempting to cause the victim harm because he thought the victim was a fish.
Sam [00:22:09]:
Yeah. Yeah. Logical. Logical. We’ve all been there. I’m just last time hang on. Last time that happened to me, I didn’t have a machete on me. That’s the difference.
Chris [00:22:20]:
I just hate going to those skateboard parks because they just smell so fishy.
Sam [00:22:23]:
That’s right. I hate when you go out And you’re just out and about, and you forget your travel machete. Damn it. I should’ve brought my travel machete. I I’m joking, but I did buy 1 about 3 months ago. Did I tell
Chris [00:22:36]:
No. I’ve got
Sam [00:22:36]:
this little machete.
Chris [00:22:37]:
Oh, really?
Sam [00:22:38]:
Yeah. Hacked down by the Agapanthus.
Chris [00:22:40]:
Nice. Good on you. Oh. And Travis King is facing desertion charges.
Sam [00:22:45]:
Good.
Chris [00:22:46]:
You know, that’s the dude that ran across the border.
Sam [00:22:48]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good.
Chris [00:22:48]:
I just thought I’d mention that because we were
Sam [00:22:50]:
There’s a There’s a story that they like updating every now and then. Americans live in New Zealand, and then they get stunned by everyday New Zealand things that don’t exist in the US. They keep updating us every couple of months. Like, it’s a winner of a story, I think. So this dude, he’s a music artist and photographer living in New Zealand, so he’s probably unemployed. I oh, sorry. He’s also a bartender. That that pretty much makes sense.
Sam [00:23:12]:
Yep. He has some videos. This is going on TikTok. He can’t believe lemon lime and bitters is a thing. Not in the US?
Chris [00:23:18]:
It’s yeah. It’s a thing in the UK as well, though.
Sam [00:23:21]:
Yes. Not the US apparently conned to this dude. And some people were like, oh, no. We’re pretty skeptical of how popular that is over L&P because he said L&P’s on tap on the, you know, drink thing. And he goes, no. Heaps of people want that. Savory pies has come up again? This has been mentioned a couple years.
Chris [00:23:39]:
Americans are a bit weird about that, If you say pie, they just assume it’s a fruit pie.
Sam [00:23:44]:
There was a story ages ago, and I don’t know what state they were in. There was a bunch of Kiwis that were over there that opened up a pie savory pie thing, And I don’t know how well it went
Chris [00:23:52]:
because because there’s an Australian chain that does that as well, and they’re quite well known for for Aussie pies because they’re like, They’ve got meat in them. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:24:04]:
The other one that this guy had, fish and chip shops. And he goes, that’s not a thing in America. The old sit Down restaurant might have it, but no fish and chip shops. So and roundabouts. They roundabouts say can’t get their head around. And Hamilton, we love that And, bank to bank transfers. He goes, I can’t believe how easy it is. You gotta pay a a fee in America all every time.
Chris [00:24:26]:
Yeah. Our our banking system’s been
Sam [00:24:28]:
Solid.
Chris [00:24:28]:
World class for a long time. Actually, just a roundabout thing. Yeah. I forget where I was reading this, and it was more a a comment thing.
Sam [00:24:38]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:24:39]:
But roundabouts are absolutely terrible for cycle traffic.
Sam [00:24:45]:
I find that hard to believe with the high quality drivers we have in Hamilton. I almost crashed last night. I almost crashed today because Who needs to indicate and just change lanes when you want?
Chris [00:24:57]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But, yeah, yeah. That makes sense. If you if you wanna do it Properly, you need to almost have an underpass or a separate thing for for for
Sam [00:25:06]:
There is.
Chris [00:25:06]:
And some of our big ones do have
Sam [00:25:08]:
to keep here.
Chris [00:25:08]:
Yeah. But, yeah, that’s the that’s the one thing. Otherwise, roundabouts are way much Way better for cars. Yeah. Way better for that streaming of of traffic. But if you don’t think about the cycle ways and things like that, then it It actually kills it.
Sam [00:25:27]:
That’s right.
Chris [00:25:27]:
Yeah. Anyway, I I I never thought about that, and I thought that’s pretty interesting. Have you heard of this promo? And This is the one I was gonna say. I must read this before the episode, and then Sam just turned up, and I’m like, when was that time already? So I haven’t actually read
Sam [00:25:42]:
Don’t tell don’t don’t tell Kyle.
Chris [00:25:44]:
I’m telling Kyle. Okay.
Sam [00:25:45]:
Kyle will get antsy. Kyle will 2 episodes behind. Super. It’ll take him a while to get to this one.
Chris [00:25:50]:
Blizzard is preparing to give away a custom liquid cooled PC
Sam [00:25:54]:
Okay.
Chris [00:25:55]:
For I I think it’s for Diablo 2? No.
Sam [00:25:58]:
Won’t be 2.
Chris [00:25:59]:
No. It can’t be because that’s already out.
Sam [00:26:01]:
I don’t know. 56 something. Whatever. Yeah. The latest Diablo.
Chris [00:26:05]:
Oh, no. It’s it’s it’s for a blood drive. Special edition custom PC will only be offered if 666 quarts of blood is harvested in the US blood drive.
Sam [00:26:14]:
I love the word harvested.
Chris [00:26:15]:
At bay basically, It’s going to be the the custom liquid PC infused with real human blood.
Sam [00:26:25]:
In Fused just means there’s a one drop, and it’s just floating around because anything more
Chris [00:26:30]:
I want this pro to promote Diablo 4 season of the blood. Of course. There you go. And it and it’s an it yeah. Trying to encourage blood drive just to tie it into something else.
Sam [00:26:42]:
Nice. But
Chris [00:26:43]:
that’s pretty cool. I like that. I think that’s a bloody good promo.
Sam [00:26:46]:
That’s pretty good. Combine that with a book scam where some dude gives you $20,000, you’re on to a winner. Looking good. You got, rest in peace, Matthew Perry. He fell out. He he Yeah. Whatever, passed out.
Chris [00:26:59]:
Were you ever, into Friends?
Sam [00:27:01]:
Yeah. Yeah. I’ve watched it all. Yeah.
Chris [00:27:02]:
I yeah. I never I’ve sort of missed all that one.
Sam [00:27:05]:
You’re too old.
Chris [00:27:05]:
Too old. Yeah. Is that right? Yeah. Because there was a guy that I worked with, at when I worked with the health health Greece guy
Sam [00:27:15]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:27:15]:
Okay. Place. He was he was my age, He was a huge fan.
Sam [00:27:20]:
Oh, okay.
Chris [00:27:21]:
It was just ridiculous. I’m like, nah. I I couldn’t even remember who’s who. I’d I’d I did like Courtney Cox, but only because she she in Melrose Place. She was in something else that I liked, which is older.
Sam [00:27:32]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:27:33]:
Yeah. I think so. Yeah. So, but my yeah. I don’t and then, Jennifer Aniston, I sort of heard of her, but that that was it. I didn’t
Sam [00:27:41]:
Oh, good then.
Chris [00:27:42]:
I didn’t watch any of those. No.
Sam [00:27:43]:
That’s good.
Chris [00:27:44]:
But yeah. He’s younger than me, and he’s dead.
Sam [00:27:46]:
So that’s right. Yes. What do you wanna end on? No.
Chris [00:27:54]:
I don’t wanna end on this one. I’m gonna say it anyway, and then we’ll have to kinda end on something else. Okay. This Nigerian woman Yes. Has been, You know, she got arrested a while ago for we’re in in Iraq, because she’d immigrated through immigrated to Iraq Having a real hard time, had enough, tried to commit suicide. They saved her. She’s just been sentenced to death. For For trying to commit suicide.
Chris [00:28:26]:
Oh god. What’s the They beat her to
Sam [00:28:29]:
death. That’s it’s Oh my gosh. They
Chris [00:28:33]:
I I assume they use sticks and stuff.
Sam [00:28:35]:
Yeah. Good.
Chris [00:28:36]:
So, yeah, I’m like, oh my god. There is a worse place in the country in the world than the US.
Sam [00:28:41]:
That’s right. There is. Yeah. There is. You know? There there is. So we’ve got, Misty Flix coming up later on this month.
