Sam [00:00:06]:
Hello, and welcome to episode 458 of the Chris and Sam podcast.
Chris [00:00:26]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:00:26]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly Fix of Randomness Technology in Life, And apologies if this sounds a bit crazy or not up to our audio gold.
Chris [00:00:37]:
So I’m on Sam’s on a laptop in a bedroom huddled away in the corner.
Sam [00:00:43]:
Yep. And Chris has a new computer with, maybe not the right settings. We’re not sure, but Yeah. So far so far it’s good. It’s going good. And we better start we better start this episode talking about Misty Flix, of course.
Chris [00:00:54]:
Absolutely. Absolutely. So fantastic event. Yeah. No. I I just I had a ball I I I will edit it up. I was like, I think I spent 22 hours there over the 2 days.
Sam [00:01:08]:
Yeah. Yeah. And I was with you, so I must have spent 22 hours there. So Yeah.
Chris [00:01:12]:
I was something like that. I was like, holy crap. But, I mean, to be fair, the last 2 hours was at the pub afterwards, but, you know, still
Sam [00:01:18]:
Actually, I was at the pub for way longer Reasons.
Chris [00:01:23]:
Which is unusual.
Sam [00:01:25]:
Oh, it was yeah. Yeah. We helped out with Misty Flix Film Festival, And going into it
Chris [00:01:31]:
Do you wanna give the background of what it was in the past?
Sam [00:01:34]:
Yeah. So for the past 5 years, Misty Flix was a film showcase. That’s what they did, And that means they’ll show a whole bunch of short films, all at once, q and a afterwards, and that’s pretty much it.
Chris [00:01:47]:
Yeah. 1 screening.
Sam [00:01:48]:
1 screening.
Chris [00:01:49]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:01:49]:
Sure. Film festival, multiple screenings, panel sessions.
Chris [00:01:52]:
Based in Waikato.
Sam [00:01:54]:
Yes. Yes. That’s the main thrust or some sort of connection to the Waikato now. So the film festival had multiple sessions, which was great. They had panel discussions with industry leaders, Which, I think from the feedback I heard blew people’s minds,
Chris [00:02:10]:
and it They were great. I I was there. So there are 2 different, venues, and Sam was in the Film theater, and I was in the, library where all these, workshops were. So I I saw all the workshops, although I was Busy trying to make things happen in the background, so I didn’t quite pay enough attention. But it’s
Sam [00:02:28]:
Looking forward to seeing the recordings.
Chris [00:02:30]:
Oh, absolutely.
Sam [00:02:31]:
And I think, like, you know, it it it was from what people said and what was done, it’s very easy to see how Beneficial those panels were. Like yeah. Absolutely. Great. The event itself was pretty cool. We had I mean, the show the headline, I guess, or the big thing was Tikitane in session with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, a film that he, created, directed, and is in, of course, and he was there for 2 of the days. And, well, he’s a very nice guy, And, there was some excite excited fans to see him.
Chris [00:03:08]:
Yes. Yes. They were. I shared, my newsletter with him, actually. Sent it through to his, social media page, so I don’t know if he’s read it. I haven’t got it.
Sam [00:03:17]:
Oh, that’s awesome.
Chris [00:03:19]:
But, yeah, I got some good feedback from the newsletter. So I tell a story in that newsletter. Sam was around at the time. So
Sam [00:03:26]:
because there was a point where we both looked at each other Yeah.
Chris [00:03:29]:
Going, but yeah. So just to to to paint the picture, Friday night, the only thing on, for the Misty Flex on Friday night was the Tikitane feature film. And he’s there live, and he’s talking doing the q and a afterwards. And it was a a sellout audience. As they said, Suki Tane did better than Taylor Swift in the region, in Taylor Swift sellout. But, so that was cool. Anyway, so Before it all happens, the streets shut down. TA’s got Teowamutu’s got a, a street festival fair on.
Chris [00:04:03]:
So there’s Food carts and bumping rides for the kids and all sorts of stuff going on.
Sam [00:04:07]:
Yep.
Chris [00:04:08]:
Crowds of people up and down. And I’m out there in my Misty Flix Tisha, we got a little bit of a red carpet with this, what do you call it, brag wall is what we’ve been calling it in the back background.
Sam [00:04:18]:
With a big banner that people take photos in front of?
Chris [00:04:20]:
Yeah. And, yeah, on the red carpet. And so I’m actually initially grabbing people and saying, hey. Anybody with kids? I’m not talking to the kids. I’m talking to parents because, That would be creepy. I That’s right.
Sam [00:04:33]:
I’m glad you identified that.
Chris [00:04:35]:
Because it was starting to drizzle a bit. I if you wanna get the kids out of the rain, there’s free, Cartoons and free popcorn at the at the Regent, the Regent Theater where we were. So they’re doing this free screening. Kids just Go in, free popcorn, sit down, watch some cartoons. So that was pretty popular. Yep. And I was you know, you know me. I’m just talking up to everyone.
Chris [00:04:56]:
I saw this this family go past, and there’s this, 3 kids and a guy and this woman. And I go up to the woman, and I started my little spiel, which I’ve been plowing through, like, regularly, and she just looks at me and goes, I don’t have any kids. And I looked at the people. She goes, I don’t know these people.
Sam [00:05:18]:
So I’m like,
Chris [00:05:19]:
but do you want free popcorn and cat sex?
Sam [00:05:22]:
That’s right. That’s that’s how you save that.
Chris [00:05:25]:
Yeah. Yeah. And and, yeah, I talked to the the guy and and what have you. But, you know, so Chikitane turns up, Nice guy. And I said, hey. So do you wanna jump on the red carpet and get fans to take some photos with you? And he said, absolutely. He’s a pro. He’s Done that for years.
Chris [00:05:39]:
No doubt. So he was really good. And, so then I’m back on the street saying, hey. Come get your photo taken. And I see this woman pushing a a pram, a pushchair, and, she she’s sort of looking over. Well, what’s going on over there? And she goes, who’s that? I said, oh, it’s Tiki Tani, and I barely got the words out of my mouth, and her face just lit up. She was so excited. The most excited person that you can imagine is not as excited as this person was.
Chris [00:06:11]:
And so she goes, oh, I’m a huge fan. She basically drops the kids because it’s Yep.
Sam [00:06:16]:
Yep. And
Chris [00:06:17]:
she comes running it, and she’s trying to get around this crowd and get through. And I I I was feeling pretty, I was like, oh my god. I’m gonna have to get her through to Tiki because she’s, like, an Uber fan.
Sam [00:06:29]:
Uber fan.
Chris [00:06:29]:
And then she comes through and she goes, I just love Star Wars.
Sam [00:06:33]:
And I’m like You look at me.
Chris [00:06:36]:
I look at you.
Sam [00:06:37]:
And I’m like, I don’t know.
Chris [00:06:38]:
I don’t know. And then something else went on, and then he looked at me. We looked at at each other because she made some comment that I don’t know what’s going on. And then, he leans over to me because I think she was she was grabbing the child or something for a photo, the baby, and He goes, I don’t think she knows who I am. And then she says, oh, and I must have watched, what we do in the shadows, like, 15 times or something like that, and and it clicks. And he goes, oh, she thinks I’m Taika Waititi. Waititi. Yeah.
Chris [00:07:13]:
To be fair, it’s a movie premiere outside a movie theater Promoting a movie. So you’re more likely to think you’re going to see a moviemaker than a musician, to be fair.
Sam [00:07:27]:
Yeah. Yeah. True. But they do look very different.
Chris [00:07:30]:
Very, very, very different.
Sam [00:07:32]:
Very different. My first question, if I did think that was Tycho, it’d be like, when did you get all your tattoos? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:07:42]:
There is that. So anyway yeah. Today was good, but he was so funny about it. And then he says to me, oh, can you hold the queue up for a bit? I’ve just gotta do something. And he jumps on his phone and he starts, Hey, fam. And he starts talking to social media. You’ll never believe what just happened to me. Yeah.
Chris [00:07:57]:
You know? But yeah. No. He was he was a really cool guy. So that was that was the opening night. That was before anything really happened. The next day was a big day. Yeah.
Sam [00:08:07]:
It was good. Yeah. Like I said, I I can easily see this getting bigger and better. I can see and and the comments we’ve had from, well, Paige did from different places that wanna provide some funding as well or get on this because I think it’s easy to see, like, this is This will be a pretty cool event that I think if you’re in at the ground level, that’s good for you. So
Chris [00:08:34]:
Yeah. Yeah. So I was in the library, and Sam and I had gone to the library the week before
Sam [00:08:40]:
to
Chris [00:08:40]:
make sure all the tech work. And it worked fine. We plugged it was pretty much plug and go. Right?
Sam [00:08:46]:
Yeah. It was real easy. Thing. Like, too easy.
Chris [00:08:48]:
Well, because you don’t expect that at a library. Nice. So that’s cool. So I went in with this absolute false sense of security because we’d already done it before. And they had said, oh, we’ll let you in at 9, because the thing starts at 9:30, and the library actually opens at 9:30. So I get over there at 9, and nobody comes to let me in till Almost quarter past night, and I’m starting to freak out because I’ve gotta do the setup before anybody gets there, including putting chairs out and all that sort of stuff.
Sam [00:09:17]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:09:17]:
So we get that done, and then yeah. I can’t get the, the speakers to work. I can’t get the computer to work. The, Other guy, the projector I can get the picture from my laptop to the projector, but not the sound. The other guy’s got a laptop that he uses all the time with his HDMI, and that doesn’t even work at all. He can get anything. So he copies something on a USB stick, and that’s corrupt data. I’m like, Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong, and I’m panicking about it.
Chris [00:09:46]:
But, yeah, the people talking about the event afterwards, like those workshops, They didn’t really notice any of that. I was just thinking about it, and they they thought it was fantastic. And and, you know, the content was good, and the people, who were given that content, knew what they’re doing, and they they were really, really good. So yeah. Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant weekend.
Sam [00:10:07]:
Yes. This week, we will have a debrief about it. I think we’re going For dinner, next week?
Chris [00:10:12]:
Yep. This week. No.
Sam [00:10:14]:
Yeah. Thursday. We’ll see how that goes. I sent through all my stuff to, Pam to put in a spreadsheet. I don’t know how big the spreadsheet is, but I had a lot of points. But it’s weird because
Chris [00:10:24]:
keep ones, and I’ve but I know there’s stuff I should’ve noted down at the time, and I just didn’t.
Sam [00:10:29]:
But I can definitely see, like, the differing perspectives. So the creative people that were there going to, Even the volunteers that are creatives going to the panels, they’ve got a different perspective because they’re like, yeah, panels this, panels that. Me behind the scenes trying to sort out ticketing and managing people, I’ve got a slightly different perspective of things. So which is good, and that’s what they need. Yeah. Talking about Taika Waititi, he has done a whole bunch of podcasts recently. I don’t know, a bit a little tiny bit of promotion for, the, the soccer movie based on, our goal next? Is that what it’s called? Anyway, what do you
Chris [00:11:13]:
anything about it.
Sam [00:11:14]:
Oh, okay. So, I will find out about that for you because it’s a really interesting story. Next Goal Wins is what it’s called. Next Goal Wins, and it’s based on a true story. And, basically, the, the American Samoa Soccer team, I think it was, or some are anyway. They, played against the, the Australian team, Kangaroos, is it?
Chris [00:11:36]:
Oh, yeah. Yep. Yep.
Sam [00:11:38]:
And they lost 31 nil, and it’s the biggest defeat, in a proper, whatever game. Anyway and they couldn’t live it down. And they brought in a coach, from overseas, And, he he he trained them up, and they were able to score their 1st goal. That’s the basic gist of it. But it’s a true life story, And, you can see the actual documentary on it, was playing at the region the other week, and then the actual movie is coming out real soon. Anyway, Tyke is on these podcasts. He’s on a podcast called I I literally just downloaded this because I’ve never heard of it. It’s called Smartless.
Sam [00:12:17]:
So that’s Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, who’s, from Will and Grace, and then Will Arnett, who’s in everything. They talked to him.
Chris [00:12:24]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:12:25]:
And I’ve worked with him a bit, so that was all good. But he also did an episode with Marc Maron on WTF podcast.
Chris [00:12:30]:
Oh, yeah. Yep.
Sam [00:12:31]:
And that was really cool. He talked about his dad, And his dad is basically the character in boy. His parent his mom met his dad in jail, As you do. And he just had these hair brain schemes, and he buried a ton of money that he still can’t find somewhere. And, yeah, it was really funny, because he decided that he’s not gonna be buried on a, on the pass site with the rest of the family. He’s gonna build his own tomb, and, Yeah. He did, but, when he died, his coffin wouldn’t fit in the tomb, so they cut the ends of it off. And then they thought, oh, he’ll, Someone will get his Harley and his Triumph motorbike, and they’re like, no.
Sam [00:13:10]:
No. That’s gotta go into the tomb. So Tyker and his uncles had to build the tomb bigger, dismantle the bikes, and jam it all in there.
Chris [00:13:17]:
Oh my god.
Sam [00:13:23]:
That’s great. And yeah. Yeah. And he talks about how he approaches films, and, there’s like a a underlying 2 things that he usually sticks with for most of his films. It doesn’t matter what they are, so it’s pretty cool.
Chris [00:13:34]:
Oh, that’s cool. I might have to check that out. Speaking of films, I finally saw, what’s it called? The Creator. Have you have you seen that?
Sam [00:13:45]:
I don’t I’m trying to think what it is.
Chris [00:13:47]:
Oh, it’s it’s a sci fi, movie with AI robotics citizens.
Sam [00:13:56]:
Oh, right. Okay. Yeah. It’s Was it good?
Chris [00:13:58]:
It’s not longer Out of the movies. Adam was going on about how good it was.
Sam [00:14:04]:
Oh, okay. Okay.
Chris [00:14:05]:
And so, yeah, I meant to see it at the movies. I didn’t. Turned up on, a plex from one of my friends. So I, I watched it, and, yeah, it is really good. So I Highly recommend it. Apparently, it got panned a little bit, in the, critical press because and this is Adam’s, suggestion. I I totally agree with him. But probably because it’s a little anti American.
Chris [00:14:36]:
So, you know, Starship Troopers, when that first came out, That was considered the anti American that did really badly Yeah. Because, you know, it’s like, well, this isn’t a very good film, And now it’s considered like a classic. It’s freaking I always liked it. I liked it back in the day. Yeah. So, yeah, I think creators are a bit like that. Gareth Edwards did it, and he did it for a a decent budget, but not a big budget. Okay.
Sam [00:15:05]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:15:05]:
I forget what it was, but let’s say 50,000,000 or something, but it makes it look like a 150,000,000 film. Like, it’s
Sam [00:15:13]:
The way
Chris [00:15:13]:
they’ve done it, the choices they’ve made, it looks like a big budget film, but apparently, it’s not. So
Sam [00:15:19]:
yeah. That’s cool. Yeah. We’ve we’ve We’ve watched a couple of episodes, and I don’t know how many there are. There’s a show on Netflix. It’s a limited series. It’s called Bodies.
Chris [00:15:29]:
Bodies.
Sam [00:15:31]:
And the gist of it is there’s 4 timelines in different periods of time. So Victorian era Victorian era in the future, current timeline, And, somewhere between Victorian and current time, I guess. Anyway, They all find the same body in the same alleyway with the same injuries. Oh. And somehow all connected. I don’t really know what’s going on, but it’s really interesting. It’s very Black Mirror ish.
Chris [00:16:08]:
Nice.
Sam [00:16:09]:
Yeah. It’s pretty cool. I can’t really tell you anything because I don’t really know what’s going on.
Chris [00:16:14]:
No. I need to check that out. But, basically, in this right up my alley. Yeah.
Sam [00:16:18]:
Yeah. Yeah. I’d get that. Sounds like something happens in 2023 that changes the world, and they’re talking about in the future, but we haven’t got to what the hell that is yet. Nice.
Chris [00:16:27]:
Nice. Nice.
Sam [00:16:27]:
I like it. If you had a headache yeah. If you had a headache for 5 months, Like, would you have a headache for how long would it take you to have the doctor, I guess?
Chris [00:16:39]:
2 2 days, 3 days, I think.
Sam [00:16:42]:
Yeah. So this guy goes to the doctor, in Dong Hoi, and He says I’m in severe pain for 5 months. They said that, they did some CT scans, And they said, hey. You’ve got some sort of neurological condition. It might be life threatening. It’s putting intracranial pressure On your part of your brain. And then they looked a bit more bit more examination, and they realized that he had some chopsticks lodged in his brain Via his nose.
Chris [00:17:18]:
Oh my god. So I have my head in my hands at the moment.
Sam [00:17:22]:
So the dude is a bit confused On how they could be there. Like, you know, we’ve all lost things and, you know? Yeah. Sure. Sure. So he remembers that he went to Vietnam, and he got into a drunken brawl. And, someone stabbed him in the face with something, And there was blood gone everywhere, and he went to the hospital, but they couldn’t find anything. But it Turned out that, you had been stabbed in the nose with some chopsticks that must have broken off. Oh god.
Sam [00:17:57]:
But he I just I don’t get it. I can’t work out how that’s a possibility. Think about it. If you had something up your like, I don’t know. I can’t anyway, they, he’s in a stable condition now. They had to do a bit of, microsurgery To help seal it all up, and, he should be good, but that’s a hell of a story.
Chris [00:18:17]:
Yeah. I don’t know. As somebody who has broken their nose many times.
Sam [00:18:22]:
Oh, this person may have been in the same position, actually. Yeah.
Chris [00:18:25]:
Yeah. So you can’t breathe through it for quite a while. There’s swelling and all that.
Sam [00:18:29]:
Yep.
Chris [00:18:30]:
And you sort of Surprisingly quickly get used to that, you know. Mhmm. So, most of the times, I’ve broken my nose. It’s been, Yeah. Maybe maybe 3, 4 days where it’s blocked up. But I had it really badly busted once, and I couldn’t breathe out of it for for 3 months till somebody nicely broke it again and straightened it out a bit. So
Sam [00:18:54]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:18:55]:
It was alright. But yeah. So, Yeah. I I can I can see how that it sounds weird? I mean, yeah, the fact that it happened is just bizarre. But I can see how because your nose would be bleeding, you just think it’s been punched or whatever.
Sam [00:19:13]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:19:13]:
Wouldn’t You wouldn’t think chopsticks are stuck up there and and broken off. Like, that’s just not something I would have ever considered.
Sam [00:19:21]:
No.
Chris [00:19:22]:
But yeah. Oh, that that That’s weird. I was just gonna say because one of our friends died of brain cancer. And, James shout out to James Batty. And, he he had severe headaches for a bit, and he went to the doctors Mhmm. Early early on, and the doctor said, yeah. Just take some Disparin. You’ll be right.
Sam [00:19:43]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:19:44]:
Yeah. And yeah. No. He ended up with brain cancer, which killed him. Yeah. 3 months later. Like Mara. And he was, he was only young.
Chris [00:19:52]:
He was under 30, at the time. So Yeah. It’s crazy. That’s a bit.
Sam [00:19:58]:
Did you did you hear the story about the Hamilton Uber Nan?
Chris [00:20:04]:
Uber man?
Sam [00:20:05]:
No. Nan, n a n. Nan.
Chris [00:20:07]:
Okay.
Sam [00:20:07]:
Like old lady.
Chris [00:20:08]:
That’s what I thought you said, actually.
Sam [00:20:10]:
Old this old crazy lady.
Chris [00:20:11]:
Okay.
Sam [00:20:13]:
Anyway, she’s 70 years old. She had some time on her hand, and she thought I’ll become an Uber driver.
Chris [00:20:19]:
Get cheese people.
Sam [00:20:21]:
Yeah. 27,700 trips so far, tons of 5 star ratings. She has home baking that she gives people.
Chris [00:20:30]:
This is in Hamilton? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Cool.
Sam [00:20:34]:
She retired from being an office manager at an engineering company, and she got bored. So she signed up to Uber and, she said it was good. She’s thinking of writing a potential book about some of the people. Here’s this is the best story. She took picked a young man up, took him to a nightclub. He worked as a zoologist. He then told her, I look after the little blue penguins. They are the stupidest creatures.
Sam [00:21:01]:
Every day, At least 10 planes fly over the zoo, and they look up, and then they fall over on their backs. I have to go in and pick I have to go in and pick them up.
Chris [00:21:24]:
Okay. Alright. You got me. That’s a good one. I like that. I could just See you at 2. Oh my god. Yeah.
Sam [00:21:31]:
Oh my god. So, anyway, that was good.
Chris [00:21:35]:
That’s cool. So, What did I wanna talk about? The Wiggles song, Hot Potato. Have you ever heard that? Yes.
Sam [00:21:44]:
Okay. The Wiggles the the Wiggles have been around, like, forever. So, yes, I have seen
Chris [00:21:51]:
Yeah. I have. I’ve
Sam [00:21:51]:
heard that.
Chris [00:21:52]:
They weren’t around when I was young. Sorry. Just saying. But, yeah. So the there’s, a ban Bunbury is the council or something, and they’ve been playing the Wiggles nonstop Mhmm. 347, to deter homeless people.
Sam [00:22:10]:
Oh, okay.
Chris [00:22:10]:
Google’s have been, like, demanding that they stop, but that would be pretty horrible, I if somebody’s using your music to do something like that. Like
Sam [00:22:19]:
Yeah. But this story this is this story’s had
Chris [00:22:21]:
It goes on and on. I know. It’s just
Sam [00:22:23]:
There’s different people different songs that they found that homeless people don’t like, but I guess it’s just yeah. They’ve done it all over the world before. I can’t think
Chris [00:22:34]:
Yeah. And it’s but it’s it’s particularly sucky that it’s the council doing it, when the council should be sorting out the, problem.
Sam [00:22:40]:
Oh, no load.
Chris [00:22:40]:
I mean, I get it if it’s a business owner Oh, true. True. People sleeping in front of them. But this was at, like, a park sound shell or something, and, it’s the council. Get your get your crap together and sort sort stuff out. I came across a new term today. I this I haven’t got a lot to say about it, but I just I thought it was interesting. It’s called Moravec’s prince of paradox.
Chris [00:23:04]:
Moravec’s paradox. And it’s a robotics, philosophy. And, basically, It’s the fact the things that we find the easiest to do, the robots find the hardest.
Sam [00:23:19]:
Yes, sir.
Chris [00:23:20]:
That chick, Cleo Abrams, went to, Boston Dynamics and did some tests with, some, is it called alpha?
Sam [00:23:29]:
The That’s the big one. The humanoid thing.
Chris [00:23:31]:
The one that does the backflips and stuff. So she she challenged it to a a bunch of things. So It could do a backflip. She couldn’t, so it won that round. But, it had trouble jogging.
Sam [00:23:43]:
Oh, okay.
Chris [00:23:44]:
It sorta jogs, but it doesn’t turn very well when it’s jogging and stuff. And the one thing that it cannot do, which just cracked me up because I watched the video of it. It can’t sit on a chair. It can’t sit down.
Sam [00:23:58]:
Oh. Yeah. It can crouch, though, away? Yeah.
Chris [00:24:02]:
It can crouch, but it can’t sit. It can’t push it, balance backwards and hit the chair. It keeps missing the chair and not Alright. Back. It’s but, yeah, it it’s interesting. So, yeah, Mottevak’s paradox is just that, Yeah. Things that we find easy, easy to do, robots find hard. And things that we find ridiculously hard to do, robots find pretty easy, which is I thought it was interesting.
Sam [00:24:28]:
Yeah. That’s pretty cool. I think they could still come after us and kill us, though. Hi.
Chris [00:24:34]:
Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, there was another one. If I throw
Sam [00:24:36]:
a chair at him, I don’t think it’s gonna stop him.
Chris [00:24:37]:
I saw I saw this video, and there’s this guy moving around his his, Zoom screen, and there’s a target on his face, like a a target superimposed on the screen that’s following his face. So When he his face goes off the screen, it stops falling, and then you it it zooms out because it’s looking at the screen. It zooms out, and there’s this, It’s actually a cell phone holder, but there’s nothing in it. And it’s tracking him
Sam [00:25:03]:
Yep.
Chris [00:25:04]:
And it’s pointing exactly at him, and it’s like So when robots are, weaponized, is that more humane or not humane? Because they’ll never No.
Sam [00:25:15]:
Oh, that’s true.
Chris [00:25:17]:
And I was like, oh, shit. We’re so screwed.
Sam [00:25:23]:
Doc has made a decision to move some kakapo out of Century Mountain. They can’t fly, But they can use their wings to parachute off trees and get over the predator proof fences and basically escape. So they’re gonna relocate them back to an island because that will contain them.
Chris [00:25:47]:
Yeah. Because they can’t parachute.
Sam [00:25:49]:
Not yet, but I think if you give them enough time, they’ll build a boat or something.
Chris [00:25:54]:
Yeah. Yeah. They’re amazing. Oh, okay. So where is, The sanctuary
Sam [00:26:00]:
Mangatotiri.
Chris [00:26:02]:
That doesn’t tell me.
Sam [00:26:03]:
Oh, okay. It’s just like the back of Carripero. It’s like a big, it’s a big, big, big place. Yeah. Gotcha. That’s where, what
Chris [00:26:11]:
because it’s funny because I thought it was gonna be you’re gonna say it was
Sam [00:26:14]:
No. But that’s where, that woman that does the outdoor meeting thing with the giant table who helped out with your TEDx once, she’s set up in there. Kylie, is it? Yeah. Yeah. I think I’m Yeah. Yeah. She keeps writing some stuff. They said here that everyone thinks that they have GPS trackers on them, but they don’t.
Sam [00:26:36]:
They have to triangulate where they are, so it takes a while. They’ve got a 2 strike policy. So once I’ve done it twice, they’re out. And, yeah, I think, you know, they’re just Just they’re crazy little creatures. Super smart.
Chris [00:26:52]:
They’re they’re they’re brilliant. They are brilliant. What else have we got here? I got something a little lighter.
Sam [00:27:02]:
Good.
Chris [00:27:03]:
I I think this is hilarious because well, I don’t know. So A driving instructor was fined 100 of euros after a 17 year old student was caught speeding on Tuesday On the a 2 between Boxtel and Din
Sam [00:27:18]:
Roche Roche.
Chris [00:27:19]:
I don’t even know what country that is. Europe. They stopped the try training car for driving at a 154 kilometers an hour In a 130
Sam [00:27:31]:
kilometers army. Okay. Was he? Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Chris [00:27:35]:
The cow was also noted for swerving and remaining unnecessarily in the left lane. So it’s obviously a right hand lane country, accordingly. Yeah. The instructor explained he was showing the student that speeding saves little time, But the police said, we are not falling for that. And he received a fine of €334, and another 240 for driving on the wrong side or wrong driving on the wrong lane.
Sam [00:28:04]:
Excellent. That’s right. Find them all.
Chris [00:28:06]:
Yep. But you gotta you gotta do better than that. I told him to because I’m his instructor, And, you’re
Sam [00:28:15]:
Probably not a very good instructor. Who knows? That brings us to the end of the podcast. Hopefully, we can stitch this together.
Chris [00:28:25]:
Yeah. We’ll good luck. With that.
Sam [00:28:27]:
This week, we’ve we’ve just got a debrief thing. I’ve got my work. I’m going to bowling for my work thing.
Chris [00:28:34]:
When when’s that? No.
Sam [00:28:35]:
It’s like Tuesday during the day because that makes sense, And, I’m sure that’ll be fun. And, what do you got coming up? Anything?
Chris [00:28:45]:

Sam [00:29:40]:
episode. There’s some definite nuggets in there of wisdom, which is very good. Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:29:48]:
But, yep, that’s me. Yeah. So busy busy all the way through Christmas pretty
Sam [00:29:53]:
