Sam [00:00:22]:
Hello, and welcome to episode and of the Chris and Sam podcast.

Chris [00:00:26]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:00:27]:
And I’m Sam, and I’m feeling like crap. So here we go. Yeah. That that’s why I sound a bit funny. Brett, if you’re listening to this, I have not died yet. When when I said I couldn’t go to work, he said, okay. Just don’t die. That sam to be his positive message.

Sam [00:00:44]:
His

Chris [00:00:45]:
go to his go to plan of life. Yes.

Sam [00:00:48]:
What have you been up to?

Chris [00:00:50]:
What have I been up to? Just work pretty much. Just work. Although, I’m I’m gonna I wanna start off with The bit of a story because it’s a bit of a laugh. Last night, I had a friend, from out of town pop in. I haven’t seen him for a couple of years, not in person anyway. And so they were staying with another friend. So I went over there and I said, oh, so so what are you doing in town? She’s like, well, I’m here for a leadership conference, but I’m starting to get quite worried about it. And, okay.

Chris [00:01:22]:
What what’s that? A leadership conference sounds pretty good. She’s like, yeah. Yeah. I thought it’d be great because I’m catching up with somebody I work with The I haven’t seen in person for a while because we all work remotely and stuff. And, that’s all good, but I never read the I never read the fine prints on this leadership thing.

Sam [00:01:41]:
Oh, no.

Chris [00:01:42]:
That the company is paying for. So, you know, I got The bit of travel, and I got a bit of, you know, paying for this thing. And it’s the act of it act I’m sorry. I’m reading here. Activate Leadership Accelerator The churches, business leaders, and our teams.

Sam [00:01:59]:
That yeah. Sounds good.

Chris [00:02:00]:
Yeah. We’re serious. I’m gonna read this. We are serious about our mission to activate community transformation and the big vision we are pursuing to build a legacy of hope for the people of Hamilton and New Zealand. We’ve built a leadership development day for our teams and staff to augment our leadership and accelerate us forward. Anyone involved in leadership, churches, or business helping build the kingdom of God will benefit from this great day.

Sam [00:02:29]:
Aren’t we aren’t we all doing that, Chris?

Chris [00:02:32]:
Yes. The the Chris and Sam podcast is definitely trying to build what does that build the kingdom of God?

Sam [00:02:40]:
So We’re trying we’re trying to build something.

Chris [00:02:42]:
That was because she’d she said, I never read this. I just assumed it was a leadership day. I didn’t know it was, like, the church type thing was putting it on, but I didn’t realize this was the story. And then I start getting some messages this morning.

Sam [00:02:57]:
Yes. Yes.

Chris [00:02:58]:
Because she’s had this thing, brother. Yeah. And so the first one was, like, I think it started around 9 or something, and I don’t have the timeline on chris, but it said something like just after 9, like, oh my god. So many religious people. And then, about an hour later was, I feel like the audience laughs extra loud. It’s surreal.

Sam [00:03:21]:
I bet. I bet.

Chris [00:03:23]:
And then she goes, here’s some notes I wrote from the last speaker. And the notes she’s written down has typed in our identity, being God’s handiwork and being able to celebrate strength. Shut down the voice of the accuser. God knew where he wanted me to be. A lady prayed over me and declared who I was in God so I could change the narrative in my head.

Sam [00:03:54]:
The people she works for, have they picked have they misunderstood the main benefit of this course?

Chris [00:04:03]:
The person who, invited her to this works with her, and this is her church.

Sam [00:04:12]:
Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So that makes sense. Yeah. Okay.

Chris [00:04:15]:
She she’s been

Sam [00:04:16]:
That’ll that’ll track.

Chris [00:04:17]:
She’s she’s got the boss to pay for her to attend this, thing, probably in the past as well. And this time, she’s she’s invited a coworker.

Sam [00:04:28]:
Okay. That old trick.

Chris [00:04:30]:
Yeah. What did I get? It was almost really bad because I she says, well, the person that I’m going to see here I don’t I don’t want to name any names.

Sam [00:04:39]:
No. No.

Chris [00:04:40]:
The person who’s who set this all up had a is a bit ill and she goes, if she’s not going to make it, I’m not going by myself. And before we got into all chris sort of thing, I was like, well, if she’s not making it, I’ll I’ll use a ticket. I’ll come with you. So you won’t be by yourself. Can you imagine me in that environment? I want I want laughing at inappropriate moments.

Sam [00:05:04]:
I wanna know if you were if you would out laugh them. I’d probably run out run out the door. Not today, Satan.

Chris [00:05:16]:
I watched I just wanna start with that because it was hilarious, and it’s made my morning.

Sam [00:05:21]:
I watched 2 movies this week.

Chris [00:05:23]:
Oh, yeah.

Sam [00:05:24]:
and was called The Black Phone. It’s on Netflix.

Chris [00:05:28]:
Oh, yeah.

Sam [00:05:29]:
Came out in 2021. They did initial screenings of it and The, apparently, audiences really liked it. So they released it in the summer. So this is the gist. After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement a 13 year old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer’s previous victims. It shot really well. It’s pretty cool. Quite liked it.

Sam [00:06:02]:
I don’t know what the budget would have been for this. I mean, the budget would have been high because Ethan Hawke is on it. But, it it I think it’s a good good good movie. Then I use Ethan Hawke?

Chris [00:06:14]:
Yeah. Isn’t that the Mission Impossible character?

Sam [00:06:18]:
No.

Chris [00:06:20]:
Okay. Alright. Carry on. Don’t worry. Don’t don’t worry about me. I’m I’m yeah. I can’t think what his last name is. Anyway no.

Chris [00:06:26]:
Ethan Hawke’s a real person. Okay.

Sam [00:06:29]:
Anyway, and then the other movie, I used some free tickets to go see, All of Us Strangers which has just come out. A screenwriter drawn back to his childhood home enters into a fledgling relationship with his downstairs neighbor while discovering a mysterious new way to heal from losing his parents 30 years ago.

Chris [00:06:50]:
That doesn’t sound like the sort of movie I’d bother The, I’m going to say.

Sam [00:06:54]:
I went in blind, so I wasn’t expecting all the gay sex. But well, no. Like, he’s hooking up with The 2 gay guys basically. Yeah.

Chris [00:07:05]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:07:06]:
Yeah. And The gist of it is like it’s good. It’s interesting. But you sort of

Chris [00:07:09]:
The sort of thing you wanna go into blind, to be fair.

Sam [00:07:13]:
No. You can go into any movie blind. It’s fine.

Chris [00:07:15]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. So it was alright. It was good.

Sam [00:07:18]:
It was good. But it was sort of left you with questions. You’re like, what was real? What wasn’t? I don’t know what to believe. Mhmm. So anyway

Chris [00:07:26]:
Still probably not the sort of thing I’d go to. But that’s cool.

Sam [00:07:31]:
No. No. No. Because it’s drama, fantasy, romance. That’s not your cup of tea.

Chris [00:07:36]:
No. Cool. Alright. What else do you got? I, I’ve gotta I’ve gotta do it. I’ve gotta talk a little bit about Trump. Right? So, buckle.

Sam [00:07:50]:
When when when your shoes come in?

Chris [00:07:53]:
And they’re not. Did you see that they the historians ranked, the greatest presidents of all time?

Sam [00:08:02]:
The did rank

Chris [00:08:02]:
this week, or last week. And the tally came from a 154 presidential specialist historians

Sam [00:08:12]:
Mhmm. Alright.

Chris [00:08:14]:
Who are all current recent or current and recent members of the American Political Science Association. And so they basically, they all scored them and they sent them and then they collated the scores. So it’s

Sam [00:08:26]:
Oh, okay.

Chris [00:08:27]:
As objective, I guess, as you can make it. You know what I mean? Like Yeah. Okay. Yeah. The the ranking each one, like, giving them a score, I assume, out of a and or something like that. And then they get them all together and collated them. So the number and was Lincoln.

Sam [00:08:42]:
Yeah. Okay.

Chris [00:08:42]:
Lincoln. Where do you reckon Obama might have got?

Sam [00:08:46]:
Oh, he’s in the top 10.

Chris [00:08:48]:
Yes. He is.

Sam [00:08:50]:
He’s in the

Chris [00:08:50]:
top 10.

Sam [00:08:51]:
Number 7, which is pretty good. So Where’s, where’s

Chris [00:08:54]:
The? Lincoln, Roosevelt, Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Washington, the other Roosevelt, because there was 2. I didn’t know that. Jefferson, Truman, and then Obama.

Sam [00:09:06]:
Barker.

Chris [00:09:06]:
Eisenhower, Johnson, and Kennedy.

Sam [00:09:09]:
Oh, yeah. I wonder where Eisenhower was gonna fit into that.

Chris [00:09:11]:
Yep.

Sam [00:09:12]:
Oh, where’s Biden fit?

Chris [00:09:14]:
Biden’s 14.

Sam [00:09:15]:
Alright.

Chris [00:09:17]:
And then the big question?

Sam [00:09:18]:
Not really,

Chris [00:09:19]:
is it? Yeah. 45 is 45. Trump Trump came last.

Sam [00:09:28]:
Yeah. Because he’s an idiot.

Chris [00:09:29]:
He’s a total idiot. So anyway, you know, because okay. So we I don’t know. I’m sure we’ve mentioned, and everybody knows anyway, that he’s, he’s, you know, been fined $350,000,000, which with interest, like, that he owes, because it’s 6 years of interest he has to pay on that, is 450,000,000. The interest alone is a 1,000,000 a week at the moment

Sam [00:09:54]:
Nice.

Chris [00:09:54]:
On on what he’s doing. So he’s he’s got these fines he’s facing. So he’s, grifting hard, and the sneakers to which you alluded earlier, he has The gold, with a t, stands for trader no. Trump. Sorry. Stands for Trump Yeah. On The. And, he was selling them for 400 bucks, but he has only made only manufactured 12 of them.

Chris [00:10:21]:
Oh. So people are paying for them, but then gonna have to wait for The China to make them and send them over

Sam [00:10:28]:
Okay.

Chris [00:10:29]:
Before beforehand. Although the the one pair, got sold at auction with him signing it for $9,000.

Sam [00:10:39]:
Oh.

Chris [00:10:40]:
So they sam they’ve sold out, on the website, which means nothing because

Sam [00:10:46]:
No.

Chris [00:10:46]:
You know.

Sam [00:10:47]:
Hey, you know, that that stuff doesn’t seem to bother him though, does it?

Chris [00:10:50]:
No. He doesn’t care. He he

Sam [00:10:51]:
Like, he’s just doesn’t matter.

Chris [00:10:53]:
Care. But what I wanted to share was was chris, court thing. So it’s a bit under the radar. Most people weren’t aware of it, but there was a I don’t wanna get too technical. There’s a thing called a SPAC, which is a special purpose, investment vehicle.

Sam [00:11:15]:
So you

Chris [00:11:15]:
put money in The and then the the spec then invests and things. So you all these people can share in that investment. And there’s some particular rules around it, which a bit weird, but it is what it is. And one of the main rules is you can’t, like, go, The spec is going to invest in that before you get all the investors in this spec. They have to invest first, and then it makes the decision what it’s going to do. Right? And I don’t know the reason for that, but there is a reason for that. That’s the whole point.

Sam [00:11:44]:
Okay.

Chris [00:11:44]:
So, there was all these the spec was created by Donald Trump’s media company, Trump Media, which is the Truth Social and all that crap. And, The did a big investigation because it’s like, but they put the specs together knowing they were gonna buy that. Like, that’s against the rules of a spec. Like so he’s Yeah. Done for this. But the FDA or whatever it is, not the drug administration, the other one, the financial guys. Yeah. They they’ve they’ve given it the okay.

Chris [00:12:22]:
But they have so they go, yeah. No. It’s fine. The spec can buy that. It’s all good. No problem. But we have to, read they have to include this, what do you call it, disclaimer in there. And I’m gonna read a little bit of this disclaimer because I think it’s hilarious.

Chris [00:12:41]:
They had to put this in their investment portfolio or whatever it is. Yeah. Number of companies that were associated with president Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that t TMTG, Trump Media Something Group, will, not also become bankrupt. Entities associated with president Trump have filed for bankruptcy protection. The Trump Taj Mahal, which was built known by president Trump, filed for chapter 11 in 1991. The Trump Plaza, the Trump Castle, the Trump Plaza Hotel, all owned by president Trump at the time, filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1992. TCR, which was founded by president Trump in 1995, also bankrupt in 2004.

Chris [00:13:31]:
Trump Entertainment Resorts, the new name given to Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts after its 20 and bankruptcy also declared bankruptcy again in and. While all of the foregoing were different businesses than TMTG, there can be no guarantee that TMTG’s performance will exceed the performance of these businesses. So much winning. So so much winning. And and on that, have you heard, not that it’s directly Trump, but have you heard, John Oliver’s latest?

Sam [00:14:07]:
Oh, oh, shit. Thomas. It’s like

Chris [00:14:11]:
Clarence Thomas.

Sam [00:14:11]:
That’s right. If he quits or something, you’ll give

Chris [00:14:13]:
him $1,000,000 a year or something? Yeah. So Clarence Thomas is a Supreme Court justice who’s just appalling.

Sam [00:14:19]:
Listen to

Chris [00:14:20]:
Before and that’s him, go to the behind the bastards podcast? No. Was it them or was it the other guys? It’s either behind the bastards or the dollop. Yes. One of them. The The. I can’t remember. I think it might be the dominant oh, no. I think it was a crossover.

Chris [00:14:34]:
Was that the crossover?

Sam [00:14:36]:
I don’t know. But you’ll find it on either of them. Listen to both of them.

Chris [00:14:38]:
Yeah. The awesome. Because I didn’t know enough about him, and The guy is a sicko. Anyway, yeah, he he’s he’s doing some dodgy dodgy dodgy stuff. So apparently, in his last program, which I haven’t seen yet, John Oliver calls him out and says, hey. Look. You need a break. All this corruption, it’s gotta be tiring.

Chris [00:14:59]:
Why don’t you take a break? And I know you like, the what do they call them? The RVs? The big trailers that they live in.

Sam [00:15:09]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:15:09]:
It’d be a $2,000,000 one of those, upgrade the one you’ve got, and I’ll pay you a $1,000,000 a year. And you don’t have to be a supreme court justice anymore. You have 30 days to decide.

Sam [00:15:22]:
Imagine if it was like, yeah. Okay. Sweetest.

Chris [00:15:24]:
I yeah. And just think about the the balls and ass, like, putting that offer out there because it’s a significant liability you’re saying signing up for.

Sam [00:15:36]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:15:37]:
A $1,000,000 a year. I mean, it can’t live forever.

Sam [00:15:40]:
No. They would have worked it out though. They would have worked out what the maximum was.

Chris [00:15:44]:
Yeah. It’ll be almost a a an insurance y payout type thing The

Sam [00:15:48]:
there’s a

Chris [00:15:48]:
way of doing that. So, yeah, they would they will pay into a a a and, and, it’ll cover that. So, yeah, it’s, I don’t know. That that’s ballsy. I I think it’s and it’s hilarious, and it’s brilliant. So I and it would be freaking amazing if he actually did take it. I mean, John Oliver get The the president’s medal award or something, I think, if he got if if that happens, which I’m sure is not what he’s after. But there you

Sam [00:16:17]:
go. The

Chris [00:16:18]:
That’s my American, segment done.

Sam [00:16:22]:
Okay. Good. Good. I’m feeling under the weather, so I can’t fight it. Sorry about that, guys. We had The had a lot of Trump. They should keep him they should keep him happy for the next 3 weeks or so.

Chris [00:16:35]:
Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:16:36]:
Until something else crazy happens. The there’s a story which I don’t fully believe, but I will tell you about it. Apparently, a British visitor to New Zealand was perplexed by these signs that they saw everywhere in New Zealand. She saw them dotted around the country and she thought they could be for a cult or a political party. Little sign has 5 digit numbers and it says at the top it starts here. Right? And she posted, to the New Zealand Travel Tips private Facebook group. And not as noticeable in the South Island but North Island you can see them. They asked some people and some Kiwis were like I have no idea what that is either.

Sam [00:17:24]:
Like, have no idea. From my description, do you know what that could have been?

Chris [00:17:30]:
No. No. It starts here and then it’s a number.

Sam [00:17:34]:
That’s 5 digits on a blue sign. It’s the Fontera Dairy signs for the phone.

Chris [00:17:40]:
Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Yeah.

Sam [00:17:43]:
Yeah. So

Chris [00:17:45]:
Basically, for those that don’t know, Frontiero is the milk producer. So the trucks drive around, and they gotta pick up milk and stuff. Yeah. It’s it’s really signage for them, for the farmers. So they go to the right farm and always sort of shit up. Yeah.

Sam [00:18:00]:
Yeah. Yeah. So anyway works or anything. No. No. No. No. That’s right.

Sam [00:18:05]:
But she was just like, oh, they look like similar ones that we have in the UK where that might be like a political party sign thing. Alright.

Chris [00:18:14]:
That’s weird.

Sam [00:18:16]:
Very weird.

Chris [00:18:17]:
That’s weird. Speaking. Speaking of weird, there was something I wanted to say that was a bit weird. Oh, yeah. No. About the the people, traveling, Google Maps. So do you hear about these 2 German tourists? I’m gonna don’t play.

Sam [00:18:39]:
Actually I saw a headline, but, I don’t really know what happened.

Chris [00:18:42]:
Yeah. So these, German tourists were going, up, like, up through past Cairns right to the tip of our top tippy top part of Australia then?

Sam [00:18:53]:
The tippy top of Australia. Yes.

Chris [00:18:55]:
Yeah. I don’t know what it’s called. And, they had a, like, a 4 wheel drive and all that. They they’re renting and all The, and it’s all good. And they’re driving up this, roadway. And then, Google Maps, they follow Google Maps and turn them off onto a dirt track, which actually leads to the National Park, not to this town that they’re going to. Mhmm. And so they went up chris, dirt roadway for I I don’t know how long, but it might have must have been quite a way.

Chris [00:19:24]:
And they finally got bogged down, and they got stuck. So they decided to, so they’re going from Cowan to Bamaga. This is where they’re going. And they, they went I think it was about 60 kilometers off this road. Yeah. And so they started walking forward thinking they were going to this town, and they must be getting close. But all they came across was crocodiles and, bush pigs and stuff like that. They tried creating a shelter, but, sucked at that.

Chris [00:19:56]:
They went back to the vehicle and waited there for a while, and then they ended up walking back to the town they came from.

Sam [00:20:03]:
Oh my god.

Chris [00:20:04]:
Then people so they were they were out for a week. Well, around. Week. And they did pretty well, I think, surviving that. But, Google they got ahold of Google or Google got ahold of them and said, oh, well, glad you’re safe, and we’ll look into it. But you just can’t trust, technology that much. Like

Sam [00:20:24]:
No. No. No. You need to have you need to have, like, maps with you.

Chris [00:20:27]:
Yeah. And and read a compass would help.

Sam [00:20:31]:
And maybe an actual and alone GPS unit or something?

Chris [00:20:35]:
Yeah. But, yeah, a map would absolutely you know, you may pooh pooh the map, but it absolutely helps.

Sam [00:20:42]:
That’s right. Hey. In Queenstown, it’s very hard to find somewhere to stay. Is it? To live. Like so they’ve got a shortage of workers, but workers can’t stay there. Everything’s expensive. For a $195 a week, you can share a bed with a clean man.

Chris [00:21:01]:
Okay.

Sam [00:21:02]:
This guy advertised. And, you get you get access to the whole house on that, but the bed is like just this The bed with some guy who works in hospitality. He’s there sometimes. He’s not there. Some other times a female who thought the ad must have been worded incorrectly contacted him and he said no no The is correct. I’m just always busy with work. So I might be The. I might be not.

Sam [00:21:29]:
But when I am there, we’ll just share the bed. No. That sounds weird, doesn’t it?

Chris [00:21:35]:
It sounds really dodgy.

Sam [00:21:36]:
It’s not even hot I’m

Chris [00:21:37]:
just wondering how I’m gonna word that ad.

Sam [00:21:41]:
Yeah. But it’s not even hot. It’s not even, like, the hot swapping bed, which they do overseas. You know? A morning shift and a night shift.

Chris [00:21:48]:
Yeah. I know. I know. I know. Yeah. No. That’s Dodge. Talking about Dodge.

Chris [00:21:53]:
No. Wanna mention, Guy’s workshop. So this guy, Guy Pigton, our mate friend of the podcast. Shout out to Guy if he’s listening. And they have the Guy and Harley podcast

Sam [00:22:11]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:22:12]:
That we listen to. Well, Sam listens to, to be fair, way more than me. I pretty much listen to it and. Yes. But I don’t listen to any podcast much anymore, which is my problem. Anyway, so he’s doing this workshop, which is make your own indie feature film, in Hamilton. I’m going along. It’s on the Saturday 16th March.

Chris [00:22:35]:
Yep. 9 till 2:30 PM. It’s only 20 odd dollars. Absolutely, you should go. You should get a ticket. There’s only limited to 20 people.

Sam [00:22:46]:
I already know

Chris [00:22:47]:
it’s sold out by the time this

Sam [00:22:49]:
Yeah. I think so. It hasn’t sold out yet. No. But, it says it’s super hot, selling fast.

Chris [00:22:55]:
Yeah. I would think so. Have you got a ticket? No. No. I I got a ticket yesterday. So,

Sam [00:23:01]:
I’m sending you.

Chris [00:23:03]:
Fair enough. Fair enough.

Sam [00:23:05]:
But Just just because on the same day as the Waipa Creative Arts Trail, I’m gonna go to

Chris [00:23:10]:
Alright. Okay. Alright. I’ll have an excuse for it for it.

Sam [00:23:14]:
Yeah. Yes.

Chris [00:23:15]:
Yeah. Anyway, so that’d be cool. But, yeah, if if anyone’s listening, and I know a bunch of filmmaker guys, listen to this, I’m I’m just happy to pay a $20 to catch up with a guy. I haven’t seen him for a couple of years, really.

Sam [00:23:26]:
I’ve I thought that it’s super cheap. It’s almost too cheap.

Chris [00:23:30]:
I think it’s too cheap. I I I was I thought it was ridiculous because I I was expecting more like 200.

Sam [00:23:36]:
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t $20. Like, I was like, oh, $50 would’ve been, like, pretty cheap.

Chris [00:23:41]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I would 200 wouldn’t have been cheap, but it would have been worth it. So, anyway so, definitely take advantage of that while you can.

Sam [00:23:50]:
Yep.

Chris [00:23:50]:
That’ll be cool. That was the only thing I wanted to say about that.

Sam [00:23:55]:
Okay. There was a, story about an Olympic equestrian, Shane Rose. I think he’s Australian. He got in trouble. So the Paris Olympic Games are coming up. And he almost got boosted off the team because he went to an event wearing a mankini, which is the thing Borat wears.

Chris [00:24:20]:
So not a practice, but an actual event?

Sam [00:24:24]:
No. No. No. He what was the actual event? He was wearing it on the horse, though.

Chris [00:24:29]:
Yeah. But

Sam [00:24:29]:
it was an unofficial dress up competition, and it happened like, it happened a while ago. Like, I wanna say, like, a month or 2 ago.

Chris [00:24:38]:
Oh, so not at and of the the events?

Sam [00:24:40]:
No. No. No. Not an actual event. No. But he got a letter from the Equestrian association last week saying it was looking into the complaint and until they came up with it he would have been stood down so initially they were like oh you know, you’re stood down on all The sort of stuff. And he’s like, oh, okay.

Chris [00:25:04]:
On what basis? Is it is it because it’s bringing the sport into disrepute? Is it because it’s unnaturally unnaturally harsh on the horse to have to deal with the manganese.

Sam [00:25:20]:
Well, I I think I think it’s because it was at the Wallaby Hill extravaganza. It’s a light hearted event. They actually are dressed up, but they are competing. They are doing some jumps. Someone had problems because he’s in his mankini doing jumps with on the horse in front of children. So maybe there was just too much skin being shown for some people. Yeah. Anyway, it’s all good.

Sam [00:25:46]:
They’ve said he’s okay now. He just apologized. Yeah. You carry on.

Chris [00:25:51]:
Yeah. We all do stupid thing. I I mean well, you couldn’t I couldn’t get into a man Kenny these days. But,

Sam [00:25:58]:
I love how you said I love how you said these days.

Chris [00:26:02]:
Oh, back in the and. Back in the day. And I I bet

Sam [00:26:06]:
I bet they weren’t caught up.

Chris [00:26:07]:
Similarly bad things, to be fair. And I think there are photos of those things. So Don’t we don’t want to go there.

Sam [00:26:14]:
No. No one wants to go there, though. We’re already we’re already mentally scarred.

Chris [00:26:19]:
But, but yeah. Yeah. I I’m not a fan of the mankini, to be fair.

Sam [00:26:24]:
Okay. I’m glad we’ve got that cleared up. I was gonna ask, are you a fan of it or not? Because that’s always a great question to start with. Actually, if you did go to that conferency thing, whatever it was, learning about Jebus and God, you could have busted that out. Now how do you where do you stand on the mankini?

Chris [00:26:42]:
I I actually I should text her The. I’m gonna can you bring this up?

Sam [00:26:46]:
Yeah. Bring this up as a leadership talking point.

Chris [00:26:49]:
Mind you, I I there’d be so many other questions The ask. Like, there’s a bit of dispute in the workplace at the moment between this, person who’s gay and, other people, and they’re having a real problem with it. How how should we handle that?

Sam [00:27:05]:
That’s right. It’s

Chris [00:27:05]:
fascinating to find out what the flavor is. Anyway

Sam [00:27:10]:
Did did you hear that Air Canada has to honor a refund policy that its chatbot made up?

Chris [00:27:17]:
Oh, what? So it’s switching an and LLM type chatbot, like a AI type? Yeah.

Sam [00:27:25]:
Yeah. Yeah. So this dude’s grandmother died. He went to the website to book a flight, and he didn’t know how their bereavement rates worked. So he asked the chatbot to explain. It just gave some random information and said, yeah. You book it. And then within 90 days, you can request The refund.

Sam [00:27:44]:
But it said

Chris [00:27:45]:
If you don’t use it?

Sam [00:27:47]:
No. I think you yeah. Whatever. But it said The the actual rules are they will not provide refunds for bereavement travel after the flight is booked. So the chatbot said that he had to, it took months for them to sort this out. They finally agreed and they’ve given him a like, a $200 coupon to use on a future flight. And he was unhappy with The. So then he went to a tribunal.

Sam [00:28:20]:
They’re gonna give him a partial refund of about and Canadian dollars. Yeah. So now they it looks like they’ve turned off their chatbot.

Chris [00:28:32]:
That’s a terrible way to handle anything like this. We we’ve often highlighted some good ways to handle things, and that one is a terrible way. If you just go, no problem at all, sir.

Sam [00:28:44]:
I know. I know.

Chris [00:28:45]:
I’m gonna and gonna put you up in a really good hotel where you are, and we’re gonna put this all over social media. And that extra $500 we spend on the hotel is well spent for the story and the reach that we’re gonna get, and we’re gonna get way more business for it because we’re not a bunch of assholes.

Sam [00:29:04]:
I had The run it I had to run it with a chatbot the other week.

Chris [00:29:07]:
Yeah.

Sam [00:29:08]:
PBT couriers apparently couldn’t deliver a package to me. So they left a card. I was like, okay. And it says you can either come pick it up from us or tell us to redeliver it. Okay. So go to this website, and the link is broken. That part of the website doesn’t work. Okay.

Sam [00:29:31]:
And then I had to figure out where they were because I thought I knew where they were, but they’re not The and the corner from you now. They’re next to The huge Kmart distribution center.

Chris [00:29:40]:
Oh, right. That’s right. Yeah.

Sam [00:29:41]:
They’re out there. Anyway, so the chatbot goes, what’s your name? What’s your address? What’s your email address? Blah blah blah blah blah blah. Goes through all The stuff and then it goes, there is no depot next to you. Goodbye, basically. There’s no depot. I’m like, okay. So I just turned up with the card and I walked in and I said, hey. I’m here to pick this up.

Sam [00:30:02]:
Your chatbot had issues, and she’s like, yeah. We know. They’re working on it.

Chris [00:30:08]:
Yeah. Because because most chatbots that’s why I said before was and AI chatbot because most chatbots are preloaded with set triggers and words.

Sam [00:30:18]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:30:18]:
You know? So, that that’s the old style anyway. So new and. I I’m not very familiar with new and, to be fair. But, cool. Alright. So what do you get up to this week assuming you survive the weekend?

Sam [00:30:32]:
Oh, that is it. I’m getting better. Yeah. Feeling stronger every minute. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good.

Sam [00:30:38]:
Good. Yay. Yeah. No. That’s it. I’ll just get better. And then yeah.

Chris [00:30:45]:
Yep. I, I’ve gotta do some work on the Misty Flix challenge, the, film, and we will be launching hopefully this weekend. We’ll see. But, yeah, I’ll get some work done on The, and I have a bunch of other things The I’m doing a workshop next Saturday morning, online, the Hook Creation Workshop. So I’ve got a couple of people from overseas already, and I should get a few more in there to attend that. So looking forward to that. So I got a few things on.

Sam [00:31:18]:
Nice. All good. Okay. Until next time. I’m Sam.

Chris [00:31:21]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:31:22]:
See you.
