Sam [00:00:06]:
Hello, and welcome to episode 479 of the Chris and Sam podcast.

Chris [00:00:25]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:00:26]:
And I’m Sam. Welcome along to your weekly fix of randomness technology and life. It’s the only place you can get it. Don’t try anywhere else. Hey. We’ve got our and episode coming up this year, middle of September. We are gonna do a live show.

Chris [00:00:39]:
We’re gonna do a live show here in Hamilton, at well, Waikato? In the Waikato. So let’s say let’s say we and to Waikato because we’re we’re we’ve got a few options we’re we’re we’re running down, so we’ll see how we go. But, yeah, put The, keep that in mind and you’re coming up this way.

Sam [00:00:55]:
If you’re coming from overseas or from a different island or from a different different city, we would love to see you, middle of September.

Chris [00:01:03]:
Yeah. We’ll let you know the specific date, when we’re a bit closer.

Sam [00:01:06]:
We did record our and episode in person, and the people that came along to that, their lives have been changed forever.

Chris [00:01:13]:
Yes. They’ll never forget it.

Sam [00:01:15]:
I didn’t say it was good. It was just changed forever. No. Shout out to everyone that, supports us. Yeah. Actually, talking about that chris week, I was on The Double Loop podcast.

Chris [00:01:27]:
The Double Loop podcast?

Sam [00:01:28]:
That’s what it’s called. Chris Hillek’s podcast.

Chris [00:01:30]:
Oh, that’s right. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yes. I was like, where do I know that from? Yep. No. I remember that.

Sam [00:01:34]:
He talks to filmmakers in the Waikato region, and for some reason wanted to talk to me. So I think I am episode 6. 5 or 6. Something like that.

Chris [00:01:44]:
Cool.

Sam [00:01:45]:
and maybe. Whatever. Interesting talk. We talked about Misty Flix Film Festival. We had a big discussion around this podcast because it blows his mind that we’re coming out and episodes and we do it weekly and he sort of wanted to get in on what that was all about and we touched on some giant pumpkin stuff as well.

Chris [00:02:04]:
So we’ll have a link to that in the show notes so you can

Sam [00:02:06]:
When it comes out.

Chris [00:02:07]:
When it comes out. Yeah. Well, okay. Alright.

Sam [00:02:09]:
Yeah. Not just yet.

Chris [00:02:10]:
Fair. Fair. Fair call. What’s new with me? I have got, I’m going up to Auckland this weekend. Yeah. So I’ve got to film some stuff on Monday for a job. It’s not a fun filming thing. It’s like a council filming thing.

Chris [00:02:25]:
That’s right. So it should be fun for me, but, like, it’s, yeah, it it should be interesting. So, that’s that’s the most exciting thing I’ve got going on.

Sam [00:02:33]:
I love how you assume nothing else is going on with me, Chris.

Chris [00:02:37]:
Oh. Sorry. I thought you finished. I am this no.

Sam [00:02:42]:
I am chris year The city manager for 48 hour film weekend.

Chris [00:02:47]:
Are you? Yep. Holy crap.

Sam [00:02:48]:
We just finalized it today.

Chris [00:02:50]:
Oh, okay. So, because Sash did a couple of years ago

Sam [00:02:54]:
Sash and Mary, yes.

Chris [00:02:55]:
More than a couple of years.

Sam [00:02:56]:
I don’t know how many years they did it, but before that, it was, what’s chris face from? The meteor? Oh, yeah. All as well, but also the yeah. Yeah. So that The the

Chris [00:03:05]:
guy Is that Benny? Benny.

Sam [00:03:06]:
Yes. That’s it.

Chris [00:03:07]:
The meteor. Yep.

Sam [00:03:07]:
Yep. So, the guy that had jacked up has pulled out podcast minute due to something happening, which is fine.

Chris [00:03:14]:
Because that’s not far away is it?

Sam [00:03:16]:
No it’s like 2 The and a half weeks away I think. 2 weeks when this comes out. I got

Chris [00:03:21]:
a lot to

Sam [00:03:22]:
catch up on.

Chris [00:03:23]:
Holy crap. But they would give you quite a bit of support because it’s a national event.

Sam [00:03:28]:
A lot of support. Yeah. And they’re not here yet. They just need somebody in person in the city. And the weekend is pretty easy. It’s the next 3 weeks after the weekend I have to do a lot.

Chris [00:03:40]:
Yeah. Okay.

Sam [00:03:41]:
Alright. Involving a lot of spreadsheets and a lot of data. Which I’m okay with and figuring out Yeah. You’d be

Chris [00:03:48]:
better than that.

Sam [00:03:49]:
Yes. And doing some stuff. So Paige put my name down for that. She just sends me a message. Hey. I’ve told Ruth at 48 that you might be keen to be the city manager. It’ll be great. You’ll meet heaps of people.

Sam [00:04:01]:
Thanks,

Chris [00:04:03]:
Oh, you’ll love it, though. You actually will. You I think you will.

Sam [00:04:06]:
I think so. Yeah. I’m very excited.

Chris [00:04:08]:
I think it’s cool. That’s very cool.

Sam [00:04:09]:
They said to me, if people contact you on the Saturday, it’s all about copyright. She goes, 99% of the time someone will ring you and go, can we use this thing? And she goes, most of the time it’s like, no, you do not have the rights to that. Yeah. Oh. And then The And is just submitting, but it’s all digital now because of COVID. There’s no physical thing on Friday. It’s all virtual. Oh, right.

Sam [00:04:34]:
And when they did it for COVID, after COVID, everybody goes, we love this. So like, okay. So, The they all just watching a live stream on Friday? Right. And they get all given the stuff. Not much else is happening. Hand ins a digital upload. Oh, wow.

Chris [00:04:51]:
Oh, that’s way better. Actually, that is way better.

Sam [00:04:53]:
When you think about it, Unless

Chris [00:04:54]:
if I was doing it because I did get asked in the weekend if I wanted if I was in a team, because we we went out for we went to Rotorua this weekend for the, the site. So we took

Sam [00:05:06]:
a Are they

Chris [00:05:08]:
took a tape measure and measured out chris, post shop that we’re gonna be using, turning into a dairy.

Sam [00:05:13]:
I’ve been to this post shop multiple times.

Chris [00:05:16]:
So cluttered in there. There is so much stuff. So we’re gonna have to move a lot because we’ve gotta have a fight scene in there. So I I made I I took a tape measure, made a map. I’ll show you a map afterwards. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:05:27]:
And, yeah. So we we sussed out that. We sort of walked through the fight. We’ve worked out what we need to move, and there’s and glass shelf with trinkets on it. We’re like, can we please move that? It’s just too dangerous right there. Yeah. But yeah. And and it’s on wheels, so it

Sam [00:05:45]:
should be

Chris [00:05:46]:
should be alright.

Sam [00:05:46]:
In theory. Yeah.

Chris [00:05:48]:
But yeah anyway so that that was cool and then we found 2 other locations well really one location we can use in 2 different aspects. Nearby.

Sam [00:05:59]:
Where? Why does it explain it to me?

Chris [00:06:01]:
It’s it’s that beach where you were talking about. You go up the road further up and there’s that park. And, it’s but basically The first pull in area for the park, and you just walk down around the corner, and there’s this dip. So we’re gonna have the guy running in the beach in the morning, and then the the final scene of The film, is in the afternoon. The the beauty of that for us everybody’s bored at this point now listening to me. The beauty of that for us is we got 4 stunt stunties, and we wanna get them all wrapped in one day. Yep. So we’ve got these different scenes.

Chris [00:06:32]:
We’re like, can we do it all in The day in Rotorua and get it all done? So that’s cool. That and that film got some decent funding.

Sam [00:06:39]:
Yeah. You were saying that’s good.

Chris [00:06:40]:
So Good. Pretty happy with that. So that’s Matua. So, yeah, we’re still working on the dates for actual filming. I’ve booked most weekends in September for it. Yeah. Yes. I was just like, hang on.

Chris [00:06:55]:
Our our show is gonna be a midweek.

Sam [00:06:58]:
Yes. Oh, we should say that our show will be midweek. I think it’s Tuesday or Wednesday. Wednesday? Wednesday is the day we go.

Chris [00:07:03]:
Probably a Wednesday.

Sam [00:07:04]:
Wednesday works works fine, better for me too after we had that conversation.

Chris [00:07:07]:
And. Probably a Wednesday because we still gotta get the venues.

Sam [00:07:10]:
Yeah. Don’t worry about that. Don’t worry about that. Since the last episode, I went to Auckland. I went to Cali Tarlton’s. Haven’t been there. Haven’t been there since I was a child.

Chris [00:07:18]:
Pretty much well, I don’t think I ever went there as a child. I went there as a teenager. But, yeah.

Sam [00:07:23]:
Yeah. Yeah. One interesting fact. I read on the wall. I did not know this, and it blew my mind. So Kelly Talton sets all this up. It sounds like it must have cost him a ton of money and he’s really big in environmentalism and all that sort of stuff and in the first 7 weeks, they had a and people come through Kelly Talton’s and it was all good and then he died in his sleep at age 47 due to a heart thing and he never knew that it became profitable. The first like day? No.

Sam [00:07:53]:
7 weeks.

Chris [00:07:53]:
7 weeks.

Sam [00:07:54]:
It was open for 7 weeks, and then he just died in his sleep. I knew he was dead, but I didn’t know it was that.

Chris [00:08:00]:
No. I I just assumed he got old and died.

Sam [00:08:03]:
No. No. 47, way to go.

Chris [00:08:05]:
Woah. God. Does that make you feel old? Because, I know Sasha’s 47 this year.

Sam [00:08:11]:
I’m only 42, so I’ve got 5 years old.

Chris [00:08:13]:
Okay. Oh, yeah.

Sam [00:08:14]:
I’m not that old. I’m spring

Chris [00:08:16]:
chicken. Yeah. And I’m 57 this year. Speaking of old

Sam [00:08:21]:
Yes.

Chris [00:08:22]:
Biden. President Biden in the States.

Sam [00:08:25]:
He’s so old.

Chris [00:08:26]:
He’s so old. They did the, correspondence dinner and they were, joking pulling the the age thing. It was actually really good and you should check it out. It’s one of the guys from SNL that does the news read at the beginning. Oh, yeah.

Sam [00:08:39]:
Yeah.

Chris [00:08:40]:
The white guy there’s a white guy and black guy. I don’t even know I can’t remember their names. If you told me his name, I’d remember, but I can’t remember his name at the

Sam [00:08:45]:
top of me. Okay.

Chris [00:08:46]:
That was pretty good. That wasn’t what I was gonna say. Biden did a Trump this last week, and I wrote it down. I thought I’ll I’ll still share it because I think it’s quite funny. Biden basically said his dad may have been eaten by cannibals, in Papua New Guinea and, Okay. Or his grandfather. I forget which,

Sam [00:09:05]:
Family member.

Chris [00:09:06]:
Yeah. And, oh, yeah. It was some sort of family member. Yeah. It could have been anything, actually. I probably should say it’ll have it here somewhere. But, anyway, so the Papua New Guinea, prime minister’s all upset about it. So basically in World War 2, oh, an uncle and uncle had been lost in Papua New Guinea Yeah.

Chris [00:09:28]:
In World War 2. And, so he goes,

Sam [00:09:30]:
mate, have been eating my

Chris [00:09:31]:
cannibals. There’s

Sam [00:09:35]:
yeah.

Chris [00:09:36]:
Jeez. That’s how why did you say that?

Sam [00:09:41]:
I don’t know anything much I don’t know anything about Papua New Guinea, but there was a guy I used to work with, and his family were over there doing logging or something and he was there as a young kid and he said it is one of the scariest places around.

Chris [00:09:56]:
Oh yeah.

Sam [00:09:56]:
And he was saying you could kill someone, a child or whatever, and then boil them up and then have the bones and then there was medical schools that would buy that off you and that was like a business. And he said, yep. I was like, okay.

Chris [00:10:12]:
Yeah. My a friend of mine The, my old landlord actually for a while, he but he was a friend of mine before I moved in that place. He, he worked over there doing he was an IT guy.

Sam [00:10:23]:
Oh, yeah.

Chris [00:10:24]:
He was doing the security systems for the mines, like the

Sam [00:10:28]:
Oh, yeah.

Chris [00:10:29]:
Log click in and log in log out with the fingerprints or whatever, that sort

Sam [00:10:32]:
of thing. Biometric, yeah.

Chris [00:10:33]:
Yeah. That stuff. But he was so he’d do 2 weeks over there, and he and put Moresby, and he was like, it is something else.

Sam [00:10:42]:
Oh, wow. It

Chris [00:10:43]:
is pretty scary. I mean Well, did he

Sam [00:10:45]:
have to have security with him The

Chris [00:10:46]:
got him right? Well, no. I don’t think they did. I think it was a pretty rough outfit, to be honest, that he’s working for.

Sam [00:10:52]:
Got that good sweet, sweet contract, fly in, fly out.

Chris [00:10:55]:
But he was yeah. He he he yeah. He had to go over there for 2 weeks every 6 months or something. So it was not like

Sam [00:11:02]:
a lot. Yeah.

Chris [00:11:03]:
He yeah. And. Told me enough stories about people just walking down the road with machetes and stuff. And

Sam [00:11:09]:
Oh, when you’re in Auckland, you won’t have time for this, but you should go into the car park of Les Mills International because you know how they like doing their, whatever they call it, the releases. Yeah. They’ve got a body combat one coming up. Right?

Chris [00:11:26]:
Yeah, I used to love doing that. I used to go up there all the time for that.

Sam [00:11:29]:
So they’re building like a giant pyramid thing. So all the trainers can go on this giant pyramid thing while they film it. That’s The latest thing.

Chris [00:11:39]:
It’s just like it’s temporary for The Yeah.

Sam [00:11:42]:
It definitely looks temporary. It’s just like a plywood step structure thing. And the guy said, hey, look, you know, they over a and instructors and 22,000 gyms use this it’s a big thing blah blah blah. That’s

Chris [00:11:53]:
huge. Because

Sam [00:11:53]:
they make

Chris [00:11:53]:
all the money on

Sam [00:11:55]:
the on the music, hey? I think we talked about the soundtrack. Licensing of the soundtrack, was it?

Chris [00:11:58]:
Well, the licensing of

Sam [00:12:00]:
The whole thing?

Chris [00:12:01]:
The whole thing. Yeah. Because they they sell the, programs that sell to all the gyms. And it has licensed music and, the moves that go with the music.

Sam [00:12:09]:
The reason this is so big is The their 100th release of body combat and they’ve brought in a and of the world’s best instructors to film this one class and they’re gonna put them all on this giant stage which looks like a pyramid.

Chris [00:12:23]:
That’s so cool. They’re gonna I almost wish I could go back, just for that because

Sam [00:12:27]:
They’re gonna sprint.

Chris [00:12:28]:
I was there for the first body.

Sam [00:12:31]:
Okay. I don’t I can’t work out if you were, like, 7 years old or they have multiple during the year.

Chris [00:12:38]:
No. No. I remember when it started out. I think I was still telling

Sam [00:12:42]:
But they must do a couple of releases a year for Yeah. They do.

Chris [00:12:44]:
Couple of

Sam [00:12:45]:
Quarters? 2 or 3

Chris [00:12:46]:
releases a year.

Sam [00:12:47]:
I don’t know. So, they’ve got a and these instructors are gonna sprint up the flights of stairs, be positioned on every level of the film set, instructing the 200 people that are following them in the car park. They said actually they when they did the filming during COVID in the car park, they were actually blown away with how much people really liked it. Yeah. Yeah. Cool.

Chris [00:13:09]:
That’s pretty cool. That’s pretty cool. Yeah. Because you watch some of the videos from Les Mills of the big classes they do That’s

Sam [00:13:15]:
The concept.

Chris [00:13:16]:
Oh, wow. Of big classes they do overseas. It’s and in insane. It’s insane. It’s pretty cool.

Sam [00:13:22]:
I knew you’d like that.

Chris [00:13:23]:
Yeah. It was really good. I like The. Yeah. There’s a, there’s a story here. I’m not gonna go into too much detail with it, but there’s a big push to fix the ticks in US Congress. So that’s like Ticketmasters and and tickets and stuff like that.

Sam [00:13:41]:
Because they’re all scummy.

Chris [00:13:43]:
Yes. So they have a big problem with scalpers over there.

Sam [00:13:45]:
Yes. Okay.

Chris [00:13:46]:
And so that’s part of it. But there was this other thing which reading through this article, I got this and I was like, I’m gonna mention the podcast because it just blows my mind. Currently, fake tickets happen a lot. Yeah. And basically, what that is is you get on some some some, you know, I don’t know, Craigslist or something and buy some tickets. Yeah. And these guys have just made some random tickets, printed them, and sold them. And people go sometimes The travel a long way Yep.

Chris [00:14:17]:
Yep. Get accommodation. They go up, turn up, and they present their tickets. And they’re like, no. Scandal goes, nah. Not genuine. That is not illegal in 48 states. And the States.

Sam [00:14:28]:
That’s so good. That’s

Chris [00:14:30]:
not even illegal. So just start a business selling fake tickets because it’s not illegal. I would

Sam [00:14:38]:
you wouldn’t be doing that. Chris Sam podcast slash fake ticket company running out of here. What are all those paperwork? Oh, don’t worry about The. Which is some new tickets we’re sending out.

Chris [00:14:48]:
That’s it just blows my mind. It’s like, it’s no legal? What do you Surely, they do get them for some The things around

Sam [00:14:55]:
fraud or something. They love the mail fraud probably.

Chris [00:14:58]:
They love the mail fraud over there.

Sam [00:14:59]:
That’s mental.

Chris [00:15:00]:
Yeah. But yeah. Yeah. I thought that was mental. That’s why I married him.

Sam [00:15:03]:
Oh, talking about mental, I almost saw this dude get killed in Auckland. It was weird. So we went into a shopping mall. Don’t ask me which and. It was a smaller one or small car park but big shopping mall. and of the Westfields. I don’t know. And you drive in and The I’m not

Chris [00:15:18]:
the St Luke’s.

Sam [00:15:19]:
I don’t know. Could have been. The initial car park’s got a little weird loop. Anyway, you get to the end of the loop and this car just comes like and it straight out of a car park. It’s backed and, but it comes straight out and just slams its brakes on and I’m like, okay, that’s a bit weird. Just stop. And there’s a woman. Now there’s a middle aged guy out of the car already but behind the car and he sort of, I assume he’s attempting to guide her back.

Sam [00:15:46]:
She just chucks it in reverse, doesn’t look where he is, and just floors it again. Absolutely as far as He sort of dives out of the way. I think his leg got clipped by the corner of the car. And he’s just standing The. We’re like, what the hell? She almost killed him. The dude looks at us. So I’m like, give him thumbs up. Are you okay? And he’s like, yep.

Sam [00:16:11]:
Is he on the ground still? No. He’s up. No. He didn’t hit the ground. I think it grazed his leg.

Chris [00:16:16]:
You’re right.

Sam [00:16:16]:
But he’s like yep. And I’m like I’m not very confident in that. And then we drove around a park and then they left. Like so I don’t know what they were doing. But, it was real weird.

Chris [00:16:26]:
And I don’t know what they’re doing either, but sounds like drugs was the answer to that question.

Sam [00:16:31]:
No. I I don’t know. I think terrible driving, maybe.

Chris [00:16:34]:
Cool. Cool. Alright. I won’t make terrible driving jokes. So, did you hear The this monsters in the closet thing?

Sam [00:16:42]:
No. What’s that mean?

Chris [00:16:43]:
So in North North Carolina in the States Yeah. This toddler keeps going like, there’s monsters in the closet. There’s monsters The closet.

Sam [00:16:52]:
It’s a serial killer? Is it real serial killers?

Chris [00:16:54]:
Well, she wasn’t wrong. I say she. I’m not sure. I assume it was just

Sam [00:16:59]:
It doesn’t matter. You got a 15 chance. Go.

Chris [00:17:01]:
They, they they

Sam [00:17:05]:
thought, oh, oh, hang on. There’s some

Chris [00:17:06]:
bees in the attic. So they got a guy in with a a wall heat thermal scanner thingy.

Sam [00:17:13]:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.

Chris [00:17:14]:
And it was like, oh, she goes, when he went down the wall, we thought there was a body in there. No. There were 50,000 and. And he he

Sam [00:17:24]:
And they couldn’t hear them? Do they The must

Chris [00:17:27]:
I don’t know.

Sam [00:17:28]:
Even They smack the wall. No. It doesn’t sound like they should

Chris [00:17:31]:
have No.

Sam [00:17:32]:
No. Don’t do that. The vibrations, they don’t like that.

Chris [00:17:35]:
He smacks the wall. No.

Sam [00:17:37]:
This isn’t a bee beekeeper. No. He’s not. No. He’s not. Whatever.

Chris [00:17:40]:
Yeah. And then what is it? The the amount of honey that just came dripping down the The Oh my gosh. The wall, It it was dark honey. It just looked like blood coming out of the wall. And so, the little, toddlers now calls, beekeepers, monster hunters. Yeah. And, the parents had to go, yes, honey. You’re right.

Chris [00:18:02]:
There was a monster, but we got rid of it. So they got rid of it. It was it was a lot of damage too, they said.

Sam [00:18:07]:
I don’t know how you do not know

Chris [00:18:11]:
$20,000 worth of damage to electrical wires. I don’t I don’t think that’s just to electrical wires, but it says that’s what what it says here.

Sam [00:18:19]:
There’s no. There’s too many questions on that one. Wouldn’t you see bees in general entering or exiting somewhere and

Chris [00:18:27]:
go They were going through the attic at the top, and they didn’t see them in the house at all. And they’re coming in and down the so they’re coming into the roof, probably under the eaves, into the attic area, which they don’t go into, and then it comes into the wall.

Sam [00:18:41]:
I don’t know.

Chris [00:18:41]:
Yeah. But it yeah. It’s a lot.

Sam [00:18:43]:
And to be at the honey making stage.

Chris [00:18:45]:
But, yep, it’s worth having quick read through The, Guardian story that I, will put in the show notes. It’s, it’s pretty cool. Okay. The the the little I I still think it’s a little girl. It’s vindicated. So yeah.

Sam [00:18:59]:
Very good. You’ve got this thing here. What what’s the water gun fight?

Chris [00:19:03]:
Oh, God.

Sam [00:19:04]:
Because I’ve got a sort of did you I don’t know if you’ve heard the story on, my first million talking about water fights. No. Okay. You tell me your story and I’ll give you your story.

Chris [00:19:14]:
No, you tell me yours because mine’s a downer.

Sam [00:19:17]:
Well, mine is the start of chris, of what yours is, I think. Oh, okay. So there’s a there’s a game they’re playing on college campuses and, The someone’s a target and people got to go find them and shoot them with a water gun. Now this is I’m pretty sure 99% the plot of a film from the 90s.

Chris [00:19:38]:
And it was a paintball gun. They all get, they all get given a target, do they?

Sam [00:19:43]:
Or I don’t know about the current version and in the movie I can remember which I can’t remember the name of And let me know what it is. I’m sure it’s from the 90s and I think what happened was they had a paintball pistol and they’d go find the person and shoot him but at some point I think they kill someone with a real gun or something I don’t whatever. There’s a movie. This is similar. They’re going and. This dude hears from his kid or something and he goes, so how do you do it? Oh, it’s just a piece of paper. We pass it around. He goes, oh, I can make an app that does that.

Sam [00:20:13]:
So he makes an app called splashy something, spashers whatever and within 4 weeks he’s made $250,000

Chris [00:20:24]:
Holy snot.

Sam [00:20:25]:
Like the 1st week was like and, 40,000, and and then $250,000 And they were like, chris app won’t last very long, but those guys are writing it in. And I assume what’s happened has led to your story.

Chris [00:20:40]:
And how does he get paid for that?

Sam [00:20:43]:
I don’t know if it’s ads or if there’s a slight I don’t know, it could be a payment that you’re gonna pay like $2. It might be like a $2 thing. It’s just spread quite rapidly, I think.

Chris [00:20:52]:
No. It’s crazy.

Sam [00:20:53]:
I’m assuming someone just got shot and killed.

Chris [00:20:55]:
Yeah. And. Teens shot. 1 critically injured during, water fly water gun fight for senior skip day, which Okay. Sounds like that sort of thing. But look looking for at least and suspect who shot 5 teenagers, one of whom was critically wounded.

Sam [00:21:13]:
That’s slightly different because that’s just sort of like a big water bottle, I think.

Chris [00:21:16]:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Sam [00:21:18]:
But like who I just

Chris [00:21:19]:
I don’t know. It’s in a local park, and they’re just playing

Sam [00:21:22]:
It’s very sad that someone goes, oh, I could just start shooting kids.

Chris [00:21:26]:
Oh, you got you got water guns. My gun’s bigger. Oh, god.

Sam [00:21:30]:
That’s crazy.

Chris [00:21:31]:
Nuts. Americans are not nuts. Actually, just on that, have you heard the thing about, what’s her name Chris Noam Kirsty Noam? Chris Noam?

Sam [00:21:40]:
I don’t know who that is. Who is

Chris [00:21:42]:
that? Okay. So she’s a senator. I wanna say senator. She may be a congresswoman, senator, one of those things Yep. In the states. And she’s just I think she’s a senator. And she’s just relate or maybe a governor. Fuck.

Chris [00:21:56]:
Anyway, what does it matter? It doesn’t matter. So, anyway, she’s, potentially, well, she’s trying to be Donald Trump’s vice president. So what

Sam [00:22:07]:
do you do when The doesn’t have and, no?

Chris [00:22:09]:
No. No. Because he had Pence last time, but Pence doesn’t wanna be with him after he tried to hang him. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris [00:22:16]:
Get him hung. So anyway, so

Sam [00:22:19]:
When do they announce this? Sorry.

Chris [00:22:20]:
This weekend, Trump is having a 3 day Celebrity Apprentice style thing with all these people

Sam [00:22:28]:
that are coming

Chris [00:22:29]:
to be vice president, and he’s gonna question The over 3 days and get them to do things at Mar a Lago and then work out who it is gonna be. That’s chris weekend. Oh my god. This woman that we’re talking about has been disinvited from that because she was a a front runner. And one of the things you do when you want to be a vice president is you write a book. This has sort of been done a lot by people who

Sam [00:22:53]:
Before you become vice president? Just

Chris [00:22:55]:
to show people where you and.

Sam [00:22:57]:
Oh, okay. Get on

Chris [00:22:58]:
side with the you’re the person you wanna

Sam [00:23:01]:
Okay. I didn’t even know The. I did not know that was a thing.

Chris [00:23:03]:
So, yeah. I didn’t know it was a thing. But apparently it’s a thing. So she wrote this book and in this book

Sam [00:23:08]:
Oh, here we go.

Chris [00:23:08]:
She tells a story about this 14 month old puppy that she had called Cricket. And Cricket was high spirited, and she went hunting with him. And he, was useless because he kept chasing all the birds. He was having the time of his life. And then she did something else. And then she went, oh, that’s right. She went visit some neighbors on the way home. Like, she lives rurally in a farm or whatever.

Chris [00:23:32]:
And Cricket went and started chasing the chickens, killed a couple of them because, you know, whatever. So she had to go and take him to the gravel pit and shoot chris.

Sam [00:23:42]:
Okay.

Chris [00:23:43]:
And then she went and grabbed the goat because that goat was smelly and ugly. And she didn’t like the smelly, ugly goat.

Sam [00:23:48]:
Hang on. So while I’m there, I might as well just sort out this goat.

Chris [00:23:52]:
So I’ll shoot the goat as well. So in the gravel pit because Yeah. Yeah. And and everybody just lost their mind over there in the States. Right?

Sam [00:24:01]:
Because,

Chris [00:24:01]:
you know, like puppies. Like, there’s there’s other things you can do with puppies. You can there’s pet things called rescue.

Sam [00:24:09]:
Or rehome?

Chris [00:24:10]:
Rehome. All that stuff. No gravel pit with a gun because she thinks it makes her look tough food.

Sam [00:24:17]:
So this has lost her. This

Chris [00:24:18]:
And so thing. She she she first defended and goes, it’s just life on the farm. The other week, we had, a donkey and a horse that had some problems.

Sam [00:24:28]:
I’m walking

Chris [00:24:28]:
up with dynamite. He took me up to the gravel pit too. And it’s like

Sam [00:24:33]:
Gravel pit?

Chris [00:24:33]:
Dude, you’re not helping.

Sam [00:24:35]:
The gravel pit needs a new name. It’s the killing fields.

Chris [00:24:38]:
I know. And so now she’s not going she’s not invited to come to this thing this and.

Sam [00:24:44]:
And is that Trump doing that? Is that him saying no? Or someone within his party group?

Chris [00:24:49]:
Somebody within his party. Okay. But Do you think it’s

Sam [00:24:53]:
even though he’s batshit or whatever, is it beneficial? The must be way more positives or not to be vice president?

Chris [00:25:00]:
He has already said, I don’t know why anybody wants to be vice president. You’ve got no power and nobody cares. It’s all about me.

Sam [00:25:08]:
Yeah. Taika. Yeah.

Chris [00:25:09]:
I mean, you have

Sam [00:25:12]:
to know what you’re going into

Chris [00:25:13]:
with him.

Sam [00:25:14]:
Oh. But it’s gonna The

Chris [00:25:15]:
Everybody who’s trying to get in with him is batshit. Okay. Except maybe Marco Rubio by Ithikwibs. I would argue he’s batch as well. Okay. Like, anybody would.

Sam [00:25:25]:
But I mean yeah. Okay. Best case scenario is, like, you get in, you’re vice president, and then Trump just drops dead. Yeah. And then you’re president for a little bit.

Chris [00:25:33]:
Hoping that’s what the bunch of Republicans The hoping hoping Marco Rubio going because he’s somewhat and. He’s not as curious as The conspiracy nut, then they’ll probably

Sam [00:25:43]:
He’s quite young, off Youngest?

Chris [00:25:44]:
And he’s a lot younger. Yeah. And then they’ll probably off Trump and and Marco take over. That’s probably what they want, but anyway.

Sam [00:25:52]:
Okay. Hey, here’s a top tip for anyone looking for a bargain. Cash Converters has an online shop on their website, and it lists all the random stuff from every store in the country and that stuff that’s yes. Cash Converters. Yes. And that stuff listed on The website, they’re not listing on Trade Me. So the starting price on some of The stuff is really low. The buy now price sometimes a bit iffy depends on what you’re looking at, and obviously it’s cash converter, so you gotta think.

Sam [00:26:22]:
But I’ve seen some random stuff on there at some prices that seem pretty good to me, but I don’t know. But I just thought I’ll let you know because we’re friends here at The Chris ham podcast, and we like sharing things.

Chris [00:26:33]:
Actually, that that reminds me of The story. I actually wasn’t gonna talk about it this week.

Sam [00:26:38]:
Okay. Go with it.

Chris [00:26:39]:
That’s just because of because you brought it up. Yeah. Oh, no. Maybe I didn’t write it down.

Sam [00:26:44]:
Good. Just just rely on your memory.

Chris [00:26:46]:
Okay. Relying purely on my memory. This guy

Sam [00:26:49]:
in Mexico, he, oh, no. That’s not always too good

Chris [00:26:49]:
to be true. In Mexico, he oh, no. That’s not always too good

Sam [00:26:52]:
to be true. That’s the one there. This guy this

Chris [00:26:58]:
I think he was in Mexico or he’s a Mexican guy. He saw something on Instagram. I’m going to read this out because it’s so good.

Sam [00:27:07]:
Okay.

Chris [00:27:07]:
Mexican man has claimed victory over French luxury brand Cartier. So he according to Villareal, he came across The low priced earrings while browsing Instagram. Yes. So some when you see something that’s ridiculously low price You buy it. You just assume it’s a knockoff or it’s crap. Right? Like, that’s what I would assume. No. You spy it.

Chris [00:27:32]:
Yeah. So anyway, he bought it. He said I swear I broke out in a cold sweat. This is what he said on X on Twitter. And he bought these earrings for $28. Yep. And then they went, oh, sorry. There was an error with the

Sam [00:27:49]:
the thing. Yeah. Yeah. Of course.

Chris [00:27:50]:
That’s supposed to be $28,000.

Sam [00:27:52]:
Yeah. We’re missing a few zeros.

Chris [00:27:54]:
And and he he realized that. And they said, oh, we’ll we’ll we’ll, we’ll refund you the $28, send you a bottle of champ champagne and a passport holder as compensation. Passport holder?

Sam [00:28:08]:
Like a box?

Chris [00:28:09]:
It’s a Cartier passport holder. I don’t know.

Sam [00:28:12]:
Oh, yeah. Okay.

Chris [00:28:13]:
So he went, nah. We’re going to court. And they went to yeah. It was in Mexico. And The went to a Mexican court. The Mexican court said, nah. He bought them. Send them the earrings.

Chris [00:28:21]:
So you got chris $28,000 Cartier earrings for $28.

Sam [00:28:25]:
Somebody got fired somewhere.

Chris [00:28:27]:
That’s awesome. That’s just

Sam [00:28:30]:
That’s pretty cool. Pretty cool.

Chris [00:28:31]:
I’ll just move that across. Yeah. No. I just mentioned that because it tied in with what you just said there.

Sam [00:28:36]:
We’re almost at the end of the podcast. So what have you got coming up this week? You did say you’ve got some film filming on Monday.

Chris [00:28:42]:
So I’ve got I’ve got, some filming this week. On Friday chris coming week, I have a of speaking gig for the virtual speaking success summit. Yeah. So it’s a 2 day summit over in states. I am speaking early Friday our time. Oh, it’s a 3 day summit. Sorry. I’m speaking early Friday our time, which is Thursday afternoon their time.

Chris [00:29:13]:
Yeah. So early is not early early. It’s only 7:30 in the morning.

Sam [00:29:16]:
That’s good.

Chris [00:29:17]:
Which is pretty good because most of my gigs tend to be like 4 Sam. So yeah, it’s free to attend and it will put sam, a link in the show notes because it it’ll be good for anyone that’s interested. Obviously, they’re not interested. You can register to attend because it helps me.

Sam [00:29:36]:
Yeah. Go and register to attend. You don’t have to actually watch it.

Chris [00:29:40]:
Yeah. But, I’m looking forward to it. It should be good, and I’ve got a bit of work to do this week just to make sure my presentation is up to scratch.

Sam [00:29:48]:
Excellent.

Chris [00:29:48]:
Yeah. I’m looking forward to

Sam [00:29:49]:
that. I think I’m just reading the 48 hour film, competition website. That’s what The told me to do.

Chris [00:29:55]:
Become a subject matter expert in a couple of weeks.

Sam [00:29:58]:
Yeah. So they’ve got documents on all sorts of stuff and but they’re really proactive about it and, she said if you come across something and we do not have it written down, let us know. We’ll just update it. Even on the website, we’ll just update it like then and there. She goes we weren’t we we couldn’t do that previously. We upgraded the whole website. We can just update it, Lacy, on the fly over the weekend if we have to, like on the day. Yeah.

Sam [00:30:21]:
So everybody can see it. I was, oh, sweet. Nice. Sounds pretty good. Yeah. A

Chris [00:30:25]:
little bit quicker than The Misty Flex.

Sam [00:30:28]:
No. I can access that now. So I’m just I’m just doing changes left, right, and center. Nice. Yeah. So that’s about it. Make sure to check us out the Chris and podcast dot com.

Chris [00:30:37]:
And don’t forget to put some time aside for September? Yeah. See us?

Sam [00:30:41]:
We would love to see you. For all the people that can’t make it, we will probably set something up seeing send in some audio or, do something.

Chris [00:30:49]:
And we will explore livestream. We because we livestream The and, didn’t we?

Sam [00:30:54]:
Yep. Yep. We did. We should be able we should be able to.

Chris [00:30:56]:
Yeah. We should be able to. Again, venue dependent and bits and bits to be worked out, but we’re gonna look at that. Yep.

Sam [00:31:02]:
So until next time, I’m Sam.

Chris [00:31:04]:
I’m Chris.

Sam [00:31:04]:
See you.

Chris [00:31:05]:
Bye.
