Sam [00:00:22]:
Hello and welcome to episode 602 of the Chris and Sam Podcast.
Chris [00:00:26]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:00:26]:
And I’m Sam. This is your weekly fix of randomness, technology, and life, and we are the longest running podcast in New Zealand and possibly the world that has been claiming that. Anybody else pales in comparison to us. Why are you laughing, Scott?
Chris [00:00:40]:
I’m laughing because I just had this conversation earlier today with Jason and he goes, well, you know, there’s 2 things that can make you popular as a podcast. You can either be a celebrity already or you can be consistent. We went with consistency.
Sam [00:00:55]:
I didn’t—
Chris [00:00:57]:
Have you seen my face?
Sam [00:00:59]:
If you’re a celebrity, I’m like, okay, that’s news to me. We are brought to you by Good Juju Lemonade. It’s pre-, pro-, and postbiotic lemonade drink that you can get. They don’t know that they’re sponsoring us this week. I just happened to find a cold can at the local Woolworths and we decided to get it before this. It’s good for your gut. Apparently it’s low sugar, 5 grams of fiber, and it’s going to do stuff to us. So we will see.
Sam [00:01:24]:
Maybe that’ll be a follow-up segment next week, but Good Juju, whoever you are, where’s it made? Good Juju Soda, naturalsugars.co.nz is the website. I don’t know, but,
Chris [00:01:36]:
um,
Sam [00:01:38]:
that’s all we need to know. We’ll take sponsorship from whoever. So thank you, Good Juju, for the, uh, unofficial sponsorship of this podcast. What have you been up to this week, Chris?
Chris [00:01:47]:
I have some good news to share. Well, it’s exciting news for me.
Sam [00:01:50]:
He is quite animated about this.
Chris [00:01:52]:
I am going to get my hip fixed. So I went to a surgeon, uh, finally seen a surgeon. So November last year, I got x-rayed and they said, Oh, it’s severe. You really need surgery. And I have yet— it’s taken almost a year to see a surgeon.
Sam [00:02:08]:
Which is normal, I think, in the public health sector.
Chris [00:02:11]:
Possibly. And so, well, probably. And so anyway, he basically, as soon as we sat down, he goes, while we’re having this discussion, I’m just filling out the forms because you need surgery. There was no ifs, ands, and buts about it. Barely even had to look at me. He showed me the 2 X-rays actually, which was pretty good from a year ago and this year. Um, so I think they’re 10 months apart or whatever.
Sam [00:02:39]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:02:39]:
And huge difference in it. It’s got way worse. It
Sam [00:02:43]:
definitely has. I don’t need to be a doctor to tell you how bad it is.
Chris [00:02:49]:
Yeah. So anyway, so I’m pretty stoked about that.
Sam [00:02:51]:
Talk about the exciting bit, the exciting bit, their preferred way of knocking you out and ask if you could, oh, maybe you could live podcast it.
Chris [00:03:00]:
Jesus Christ. Why not? So, um, I was reading through the booklet, which I was going to show Sam. I haven’t shown him yet. And basically, they go, it’s preferred that you don’t go under general anesthetic. You get a spinal anesthetic and it knocks you. You just don’t feel anything from the waist down. It’s a bit of a sheet covering. And then you just sit there and you put some AirPods in or whatever and just listen to some music and chill out.
Sam [00:03:26]:
That’s all you need. Yeah.
Chris [00:03:27]:
Listen to some Chris and Sam podcast on repeat. And it’ll be all good.
Sam [00:03:31]:
There’s 9 days worth of us. It’s not going to take that long.
Chris [00:03:36]:
And all I could think of is Adam’s film, Minimally Invasive, which basically has that as a plot point where this guy’s getting some similar sort of setup in surgery.
Sam [00:03:49]:
And some stuff goes wrong.
Chris [00:03:50]:
And stuff goes wrong with aliens and stuff and basically loses the bottom half of his body and he doesn’t realize that he’s bleeding out and dying because he’s on drugs to keep him happy.
Sam [00:04:02]:
Something to look forward
Chris [00:04:04]:
to. I cannot get that image out of my mind now, and it’s scaring the crap out of
Sam [00:04:11]:
me. That’s probably what he was going for. It’s going to make a great podcast story, whatever happens. So we’ll keep you in the loop of that whenever that happens.
Chris [00:04:21]:
Yes. Yes. So he said, surgery, he said, we’ll get you in as soon as we can. being this time of year, it’s probably not going to be till after Christmas, which makes sense to me. So I’m good with that, but I’m going to be that guy who’s ready at a drop of a hat and I’ll be like, yep, I’m there. Um, and then, yeah, cause the world revolves around me obviously at that point.
Sam [00:04:43]:
That’s right. Um, at that, yeah, at that point, no other time before then.
Chris [00:04:47]:
No.
Sam [00:04:48]:
Uh, oh, last time I, since I’ve seen you, I’ve been to a wedding, not my own, uh, work colleague’s wedding. Got invited.
Chris [00:04:55]:
I would be really annoyed if you’d had it, if you’d got married and not let me know. Oh yeah, by the way, I got married this week. Oh, Chris, did I not mention?
Sam [00:05:04]:
Yeah, yeah, it’d be a bit weird after 14 years of podcasting and talking about our lives. No, I got invited to a work colleague’s wedding. There’s only 3 of us that got invited from work. Somehow I made it onto that list, maybe to make up numbers, I’m not sure. It was very nice. Uh, it was at Woodside at Tamahiri.
Chris [00:05:24]:
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. been to a couple of weddings out there.
Sam [00:05:27]:
Yes, I, I, I sort of, it didn’t really ring bells, but I’ve been there like for a wake after a funeral. Actually, I’ve been out there. Um, and we just learned today, I, as it was happening, I believe Rhythm and Vines is going to be out Tamahere. Uh, which is sort of interesting to us because you would assume it would have been Mystery Creek with all their infrastructure and some stuff that they’ve got there already. Yeah. So this is pretty big news for Hamilton. Tamahere.
Chris [00:05:54]:
So you’ve got Homegrown back here and now we’ve got Rhythm and Binds.
Sam [00:05:58]:
It’s central. It’s got the space. Hopefully it runs as well as the other events. Yeah. So, uh, that’s what happened. I also had work bowling at the social club. My shoulder’s really stuffed at the moment, so I probably shouldn’t be bowling. I probably should get it looked at too, but that’s a different story.
Chris [00:06:14]:
Yeah, I feel you with that. I have a bit of a shoulder problem. That’s my cane shoulder.
Sam [00:06:20]:
Yeah, that’s right. It all flows on from his bung hip. Uh, I was very consistent with my bowling, which I quite liked.
Chris [00:06:27]:
Uh,
Sam [00:06:27]:
I got 98 and then 101. Usually you have—
Chris [00:06:30]:
That’s good.
Sam [00:06:31]:
Usually you have one really good round and one really crap round.
Chris [00:06:34]:
Yeah. To me, the 100 is the goal. Like, if you can get, break the 100, you’re good. Like, I consider that a good—
Sam [00:06:41]:
Yeah. Yeah, totally. The woman in the team next to us, who may have been the only sober one, it was a bunch of young people. They were quite drunk and every time someone bowled, they just kept screaming, send it, send it. She got 12.
Chris [00:06:57]:
The sober person?
Sam [00:06:58]:
Yeah. For the whole game. It was interesting to watch because physically it looked like she could hold a bowling ball. Yeah. It looked like she could move the bowling ball with her arm and then she basically just placed it in the lane and then let gravity do its thing.
Chris [00:07:15]:
Yeah. That doesn’t work well there. Um,
Sam [00:07:18]:
anyway.
Chris [00:07:19]:
Yeah. I forget how I did it. I, I played with the last end of last year with the, um, when I could still walk with the karate club end of year and we went.
Sam [00:07:30]:
Oh yeah. Cool.
Chris [00:07:31]:
And I think I won my little group of 4.
Sam [00:07:34]:
Perfect. And that’s all that’s been happening this week. We did just have a Mistyflix meeting. We won’t bore you with that, but we are So, so close. But the main thing is, if you want a ticket, if you’re listening to this and you’re available on the 6th, 7th, or 8th, you like film, you’re going to be near Te Awamutu, please check out mistyflix.co.nz. There’s a range of tickets. You can get a ticket for just one event, or if you want to come to everything, it’s very good value. Get the Mistyflix Pass.
Sam [00:08:04]:
Get the festival pass.
Chris [00:08:05]:
Yep. And I’ve got, I’ve got the Mistyflix Challenge or the challenge films. I know some of the people who have entered challenge films are listening. And, uh, yeah, I managed to get a chance this week to watch most of them on the big screen.
Sam [00:08:20]:
Yes. That’s good.
Chris [00:08:21]:
Just to see how they look and they look amazing. Uh, so I did actually say to Adam, his one sounds, looks and sounds better on the big screen than it did on the computer because we only saw it on the computer before. So really looking forward to showcasing these to everybody. Yay!
Sam [00:08:40]:
That’s right. Uh, did you see the flying Roadster thing?
Chris [00:08:44]:
Yes.
Sam [00:08:45]:
Is
Chris [00:08:45]:
this mental?
Sam [00:08:46]:
It is. But like, is like, I saw some people saying like, because the deposit for one of them is $500,000 and people are sharing those screenshots, they’re like getting one, you know, and they’re like, this is like the 4th time that Elon’s done this and never delivered the actual car. And is this a way of funneling money to Your buddy, the orange president?
Chris [00:09:08]:
I don’t know. I don’t know. But they’ve got 4 variants. Yeah. So you’ve got the no-frills, which won’t be that much money. It’s got nothing extra in it. There’s the, I’ve forgotten the name. They’ve all got fancier shit.
Chris [00:09:22]:
The fan model basically, which sucks down onto the ground, has a skirt around it. That’s the one where they walked, drove up the wall.
Sam [00:09:30]:
Oh yeah.
Chris [00:09:30]:
I saw that. Upside down. That’s an actual thing. There’s another car that’s done it. So he’s basically copied this other car that does it.
Sam [00:09:37]:
Doing
Chris [00:09:37]:
that. Yeah, exactly. And then there’s the turbo, which has the jets at the back and will push the car, push the car at the same time, which probably isn’t street legal just from the sound and the clouds of vapor behind it, let alone do you want to be next to a 450 PSI bag behind the driver’s head.
Sam [00:10:06]:
Well, it’s the only place you could fit it. Exactly. We’re not car engineers.
Chris [00:10:09]:
And if there’s an accident—
Sam [00:10:10]:
No, they won’t fit it.
Chris [00:10:11]:
And then there’s the, um, the rocket. Yeah, one with all the thrusters. And the rocket can fly. And basically, well, that has another huge pressure tank in the passenger seat, so you can’t fit anybody else in.
Sam [00:10:24]:
Yeah, it’s a one-seater.
Chris [00:10:25]:
It’s a one-seater. And if that could crash, I mean, why would it crash? You’re just flying in a car. What are the chances of you surviving that tank cracking?
Sam [00:10:39]:
Heaps. You probably can’t open, you still probably can’t open the doors and you’re just going to burn inside your Tesla coffin, but that’s right. Interesting. No, like it’s, you know, they like going to great—
Chris [00:10:50]:
Demonstration of engineering ability. Like you have to hand it to them that To the engineers. To the engineers, yeah. The image of that car flipping in midair, because you, we’re all so used to CGI, AI, and all that sort of stuff. And you go, is that real? And that is actually real. I mean, I was, I was like, is that real with the thing going up the wall until I saw it.
Sam [00:11:17]:
I just saw the video and I didn’t see any commentary or text. I didn’t know what I was watching. I was like, oh, this car’s going up a ramp on a stage, like, and then it goes upside down, and then it— I was like, whoa. And yeah,
Chris [00:11:30]:
so I, I didn’t see any of that. I saw Marcus Brownlee’s, um, oh, he actually— yeah, okay, okay. Explains it. It’s really good.
Sam [00:11:37]:
Oh, that’s good.
Chris [00:11:37]:
Yeah, worth watching that video.
Sam [00:11:38]:
It’s
Chris [00:11:39]:
20 minutes.
Sam [00:11:39]:
He’s thick as thieves with Tesla. He loves it because he did the— well, no, he did the, um, uh, the tour of the plant.
Chris [00:11:46]:
Yeah. Oh, did he?
Sam [00:11:47]:
Yeah, with Elon, I
Chris [00:11:49]:
think. I saw him Bagging the Cybertruck, I’m pretty sure.
Sam [00:11:52]:
Oh yeah, I think he’s done that a bit, but he’s got access because he’s got the viewership.
Chris [00:11:56]:
Yeah. And, um, yeah, he liked the old, uh, the one that never existed, the 2026 one model that they, they said, this is going to be released in ’26 and it’s a nice looking shape, but they never made it. No, it’s just never been made. But he goes, I really like that one. This one, I don’t like the look of it. That one looks really good.
Sam [00:12:17]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:12:17]:
Anyway. Yeah. So that’s cool. Actually, while we’re on the States, I’m going to talk about this. I almost mentioned it last week or no, I found out about it just after the podcast last week, which is the thing. For the first time in 20 years.
Sam [00:12:32]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Chris [00:12:33]:
International poll watchers. So these are people that go to different countries to monitor their elections, right? They monitor elections, poll watchers, and they make sure that all elections are good. And then they put them in a, um, a list around the world. These are the best democracies around the world.
Sam [00:12:51]:
But they don’t have like powers as such, eh?
Chris [00:12:53]:
No, no, not really. It’s sort of—
Sam [00:12:55]:
It sounds like a— okay. Yeah.
Chris [00:12:56]:
Okay. So the first time in 20 years—
Sam [00:12:58]:
It sounds like a scam to get free trip to a country.
Chris [00:13:00]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sam [00:13:01]:
Okay. First time in 20 years—
Chris [00:13:03]:
They’ve been disinvited from the United States for the upcoming midterm elections.
Sam [00:13:06]:
Well, it doesn’t— that surprises no one.
Chris [00:13:10]:
And then for the first time since, uh, World War II, um, the United States are doing an execution by firing squad.
Sam [00:13:20]:
Yeah, and they’re gonna charge for it.
Chris [00:13:21]:
And they’re gonna televise it.
Sam [00:13:23]:
You know they are.
Chris [00:13:24]:
And sell the rights. And they’re probably gonna, um, promote a rump watch. I mean, a Trump watch. Um,
Sam [00:13:30]:
bound to. I think the guy killed 13 people on a base, eh? Was it 13?
Chris [00:13:34]:
Yeah, so they’re gonna do it at the same time as he killed them, and they’re going to do it at the same base. And it’s poetic justice.
Sam [00:13:41]:
I don’t know about the televised bit, but, um, I think I saw when they announced that somebody goes, that wasn’t on my bingo card for 2026. They just, craziness.
Chris [00:13:50]:
They’re nuts. They are nuts. Anyway, got that out of
Sam [00:13:55]:
the way. Well, and I see you in talking about nuts because we talked about this a little bit before. You want to talk about this drink bottle?
Chris [00:14:02]:
Oh yeah. So I went over to Adam’s for some, a movie night. Actually, while I’m there, I’m going to mention the movies that we saw. So Adam knows that I mentioned the movies. So 3 really cool movies, very dark movies, as Sam will know.
Sam [00:14:17]:
Cool and dark is what you expect at Adam’s Movie Things. Yes.
Chris [00:14:20]:
Bring Her Back. Definitely.
Sam [00:14:22]:
What one’s that about? Because I’ve got a funny feeling I may have seen that. The name sounds familiar. Can you jog my memory?
Chris [00:14:28]:
Um, how do I explain this? Um, it’s about 2 young people, um, and they, uh, uh, their father dies right at the beginning of the film and they’re put into like foster care and something’s a bit off with this woman who’s their foster mum.
Sam [00:14:49]:
Oh yes. Is that the Australian one?
Chris [00:14:51]:
Yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:14:52]:
And the kid with the, in the kitchen?
Chris [00:14:54]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:14:54]:
Yeah. Oh, brutal.
Chris [00:14:55]:
It’s, it’s a good film. Definitely a horror if you like
Sam [00:14:59]:
to horror. Adam will know, but it’s What’s the other film? We, I, I did tell you about the
Chris [00:15:05]:
film. This is the second one that, yes.
Sam [00:15:06]:
And the other, the other one’s in the same universe, I believe. Or same time period or something.
Chris [00:15:11]:
Yeah. He mentioned it. I don’t know.
Sam [00:15:13]:
Oh yeah. Yeah. Sweet. Uh, yes. Very, uh, yeah, we watched that. Um, just crazy good. And, um, yeah, just that scene. I’m just thinking about it now.
Chris [00:15:23]:
Yep. Yep. So there was that. Then we watched, that was the easy, I said ease me in with a, yeah, simple one.
Sam [00:15:28]:
That is the easy. Yeah. That’s the one.
Chris [00:15:30]:
Uh, then, then we, watched When Evil Lurks. And I love this. It was an Argentinian film, so subtitles. I forgot it was subtitles. At the end, he goes, yeah, it’s pretty good for a subtitled film. I was so entranced with it, I didn’t even realize I was reading the whole way through the film.
Sam [00:15:51]:
I’m beginning to believe that you notice less and less stuff.
Chris [00:15:54]:
Senility. But the world-building in this is amazing. So They’re farmers, rural Argentinian farmer type thing. And oh my God, there’s a rotten in the village. And this thing, a rotten, it’s like a demonically possessed person, but everybody knows it. And all the way through the film, this, well, of course it’s a rotten. Everybody knows what rotten is. And have you actually seen one? Nobody’s seen a rotten, but everybody knows they exist.
Chris [00:16:27]:
Okay. And then this thing happens and go, Oh, the town, all the lights have gone out. They’re following the protocol. There’s a town protocol for rods! It’s so good. It’s creepy as hell. I tell you what, there’s something about kids being possessed and stuff that makes things even creepier. You know, when you think The Omen and the old films like that. So that was really good.
Chris [00:16:52]:
And then there was a film called Hokum. I wrote down creepy hotel film. It’s an American dude is over there and he is—
Sam [00:17:04]:
Over where?
Chris [00:17:05]:
In the UK. Is it Ireland or the UK? Well, in the UK. Ireland, I think it is. And basically he’s an asshole. He is from the beginning. He’s that guy like, you’re—
Sam [00:17:18]:
Oh yeah, it’s Adam Scott.
Chris [00:17:19]:
You’re not a good guy. But yeah, the film’s really good and it blends some really good, um, mythic stuff together. Um, very well, very well acted. Yeah, it’s just great film. So shout out to them. But before we watch the films, Adam’s daughter, uh, is telling me about the Owala, Owala, uh, drink bottle. And like, she is selling me hard on this. She’s got her iPad out.
Chris [00:17:50]:
She’s going through, look at this version. There’s 3 different versions of Aiwala. I got this one. Yeah. Da da da da da da.
Sam [00:17:55]:
One will have a straw, one will have a flip sipper lip or something.
Chris [00:17:59]:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sam [00:18:00]:
It’s cult-like.
Chris [00:18:01]:
Yeah, it really is. And, um, Adam’s like, did you tell her what it costs? Because she had to do all the chores to earn the money to buy it. And I’m like, $40, $50. And he’s like, $86. I think it was.
Sam [00:18:15]:
Bargain.
Chris [00:18:15]:
Bargain.
Sam [00:18:16]:
In the world of drink bottles, that’s probably a good deal. Uh, yes, we. I can’t think what this other one is. Sarah just got a new one to replace her Stanley. So she had a Stanley bottle with a straw.
Chris [00:18:27]:
Yep.
Sam [00:18:27]:
And it fell over in her bag and destroyed her MacBook.
Chris [00:18:31]:
Ooh.
Sam [00:18:31]:
So that Stanley has been banished to the cupboard. The MacBook got replaced via insurance. And now we’re onto this other drink bottle, which is a Hamilton crowd has made it. I can’t remember what it’s called. Flow. Something can flow, I think. I don’t know. Don’t quote me on that.
Sam [00:18:47]:
But there are these—
Chris [00:18:48]:
If you want to be a sponsor and you’re listening to this, whatever inflow.
Sam [00:18:53]:
I’m going to have to find it now. You keep talking. Yeah, I know. We’ve done massive research here.
Chris [00:19:00]:
Yeah. So, um, yeah, no. So, uh, that was surprising that, because she’s only 12, I think Alex is around 12. Um, and, um, I don’t think I knew drink bottles existed when I was 12. In fact, when I went to karate at 16, we weren’t allowed to use drink bottles and you weren’t expected to drink during— Hydration wasn’t a thing. And it was not uncommon in summer for people to faint in the middle of class and you just drag them to the side and make sure they’re breathing.
Sam [00:19:38]:
I don’t, I don’t remember having to drink water as a child. Back in our day. No, but like, is it processed? What is it? I don’t remember having a need for a drink bottle.
Chris [00:19:50]:
No,
Sam [00:19:50]:
I mean, it was like a water fountain at school.
Chris [00:19:52]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:19:52]:
And that was like after running around for a little bit.
Chris [00:19:55]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:19:55]:
And then I don’t even know if I had water at home. That might explain a few things, but maybe I was—
Chris [00:20:01]:
I do remember drinking out of the hose or the hosepipe.
Sam [00:20:04]:
I think I was dehydrated for my whole childhood. I’m not kidding.
Chris [00:20:09]:
Well, yeah, I don’t think I was as— yeah, it’s a lot warmer up here than it is in Wellington. So Wellington, you wouldn’t feel like you needed water as much, but yeah. Anyway, so did you manage to find your bottle?
Sam [00:20:23]:
Not at all. Not at all. I don’t know what this bottle’s called. That’s the problem. There’s, yeah, I don’t know.
Chris [00:20:28]:
We will update it.
Sam [00:20:29]:
Maybe if we’re lucky.
Chris [00:20:31]:
Maybe if we’re lucky.
Sam [00:20:31]:
Next week I will come to you with the bottle name. Uh, because, and they’re all very similar. A lot of them are now just, it’s the color combinations. Uh, and I assume like there can’t be that many manufacturers of these things. So, you know, they’re just making them.
Chris [00:20:45]:
They look nice. Oh, they definitely, yeah. I’m not, and, and the functionality looked really good. And I did, looking at what she presented, I think she picked the best one. So it made sense. But
Sam [00:20:57]:
if I said to you, when we started this podcast 14 years ago, Hey, you know what we should get into? Designer-looking colorful drink bottles for women. You would’ve been like, shut up. But you know.
Chris [00:21:12]:
Okay, here’s something I did productively on Tuesday.
Sam [00:21:16]:
Okay.
Chris [00:21:16]:
I had a productive Tuesday. Did you? So I uploaded a summit talk. Oh, this is, yeah, the other week. I did 6 training videos, recorded them. uploaded them. So the new TEDx stuff and all of that. And then I had to, I was like, right, and now I need to present this, do this talk, which I did the other day. I’ve got to get this ready.
Chris [00:21:40]:
I’m going to use this, talking about how you can engage people online. And I did this talk with Epic Learning last year and I was like, I just use the same thing. Tweak it. Just tweak it. I get the software, they changed the freaking software. So it goes, oh, free will only work for the first 5 people in your event, like nobody else will work with. I’m like, well, I’m trying to demo your crap here and that is not going to work. I could spend $20 US just to do it for a month and then do that.
Chris [00:22:12]:
No one wants to do that. Nah. So you know what I did?
Sam [00:22:15]:
You, I don’t know. I’m thinking about you. You probably like did some weird workaround. What’d you do?
Chris [00:22:20]:
Me and Claude coded a new tool and it worked. We did it. We demonstrated it. So when we started off the thing, I said, write in the chat where you’re at. And this map comes up on screen and it follows it around and it shows, it puts a pin of them in their city around the world. There were people all over the country, all over the world, I should say. Yeah. Um, and then there was a, um, a poll, which is pretty straightforward.
Chris [00:22:44]:
A word cloud. I was like, um, ask the question, put in a reason why you think this doesn’t work or this works or whatever. And they’d word cloud came up and then I even had to spin the wheel at the end and somebody won a prize. It was great.
Sam [00:22:56]:
That’s nuts. I’ve seen some other examples as well. People are just saying, copy this. I’ve got 2 questions. Is it hosted in Claude itself or how does it do that?
Chris [00:23:06]:
I, it, it’s a local 3000 host, localhost 3000, it calls it like it’s hosted on the computer, on my computer.
Sam [00:23:14]:
Oh, sorry. You localized it.
Chris [00:23:15]:
And it creates a, um, a bot that basically I invite into the chat. And so it’s reading the chat. So that’s all it really is.
Sam [00:23:23]:
Oh, and the bot’s doing it. And then the web address, or I guess you give them a web address to go to?
Chris [00:23:28]:
No, they’re not going to that at all. All it’s doing is populating on my Chrome and I’m sharing my screen so they can see what I see. Yeah. So it’s pretty good. And I will be polishing that up and offering it to my premium members as part of their membership.
Sam [00:23:44]:
Perfect. Uh, that seems to be the way everything is going. Hey, I’ve got Kickstart or Dropkick for you. Oh no, wait, what, what, what? Hang on, what? Was there more to your story?
Chris [00:23:52]:
No, no, no, no, that was it. I was just like, I, I’m pretty stoked that an old dude like me can do that. So if I can do that, knowing what I know about programming, which is absolutely nothing.
Sam [00:24:02]:
Almost, you actually, you probably know a bit more about programming than you do about painting or design work.
Chris [00:24:08]:
Yeah, true. That’s true.
Sam [00:24:10]:
No, that’s, that’s, that’s a good point. Like there are, yeah, the AI is sort of equalizing a lot of things and making some things terrible, but it can help you out with a lot of things as well.
Chris [00:24:21]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:24:22]:
It’s a, it’s a weird, it’s a weird tool.
Chris [00:24:26]:
Yeah. It’s a weird time to be alive.
Sam [00:24:27]:
Yeah. Yeah, that’s right.
Chris [00:24:28]:
All right. Come on.
Sam [00:24:29]:
I’ve got, well, I don’t, I don’t even know what these are. I found them before and I was saying off air that they’ve just got random names that I really think they should have a descriptive name. So I’m going to read these out to you and then I’ll tell you what it is once I work it out. You can get the Nexus 64X or the Neo Pace G10 Pro.
Chris [00:24:48]:
Nexus 64X. It sounds like a gaming console.
Sam [00:24:55]:
You’d be wrong. It’s the next generation intelligent coffee grinder.
Chris [00:24:59]:
Coffee grinder.
Sam [00:25:02]:
It looks like a weird spaceship.
Chris [00:25:05]:
Oh, that is, that is weird. Like when he said weird spaceship, I’m thinking rocket, but it looks more like the Starship Enterprise.
Sam [00:25:12]:
Yes. They’ve decided to go with that. It’s got a 500-watt motor, 64-millimeter sweet profile stainless burrs, uh, smart dial control, and it’s going to grind the crap out of your coffee beans. That last bit is what I said, not them. It’s got a lot of features. I quite like the campaign. There’s a lot of photos and blown away diagrams and someone touching it and—
Chris [00:25:35]:
Yeah, AI made all of it.
Sam [00:25:36]:
Yeah, you can take it, you can take it with you. You detach the brew pad and keep full control in your hand. So the little controller on the end is wireless, so you can pull it off the machine, stick it to something else. Why you’d want to do that, God only knows.
Chris [00:25:52]:
I don’t, I don’t know.
Sam [00:25:54]:
Okay, first off, super early bird price.
Chris [00:25:57]:
I guess if you were, if you had that at work, Not that you’d want to take one of those to work, but if you had that at work and you didn’t want anybody else using my grinder, you could take off the thing and take off the control and stick it in your pocket and they, nobody can use my grinder.
Sam [00:26:13]:
I’d say the machine’s broken and throw it away. Super early bird gives you 40% off.
Chris [00:26:18]:
Right.
Sam [00:26:19]:
How much would you want to pay for this bad boy?
Chris [00:26:22]:
That’s got to be a grand.
Sam [00:26:24]:
You’re very close. $847 New Zealand dollars. At 40% off. So that’s good. And then they’ve got 6 days to go.
Chris [00:26:33]:
Oh, okay. All right. So this is the end of the run. Yep.
Sam [00:26:37]:
Um, it is. And, uh,
Chris [00:26:41]:
it does look nice. I will say.
Sam [00:26:43]:
Oh, it looks very— there’s a black variant and like a silver variant. Okay.
Chris [00:26:47]:
I was just going to say a black variant, but yeah. Yeah.
Sam [00:26:49]:
They want to raise $14,441 New Zealand dollars.
Chris [00:26:53]:
They’ve blown that away.
Sam [00:26:54]:
Yeah.
Chris [00:26:55]:
I’m gonna say $500,000.
Sam [00:26:57]:
Oh, you’re so close. This might be the closest you’ve ever been. $495,000.
Chris [00:27:02]:
Ooh, that is close.
Sam [00:27:03]:
Well done. Uh, and now we’re moving on to the Neo Pace G10 Pro. What does that sound like?
Chris [00:27:09]:
Neo Paste?
Sam [00:27:11]:
Pace.
Chris [00:27:12]:
Neo Pace.
Sam [00:27:13]:
G10 Pro.
Chris [00:27:15]:
Is it a chair?
Sam [00:27:16]:
No, it’s the world’s first AI 3D replay golf monitor. That’s right. Uh, so it’s like a little—
Chris [00:27:25]:
Does it look at your swing or something?
Sam [00:27:27]:
Yeah, it’s like a little camera on a tripod that connects to your phone. Oh,
Chris [00:27:30]:
okay.
Sam [00:27:30]:
So it’s watching you and when you swing, it then shows you what you did wrong and what you could do better. Um, you can play your favorite simulator. You can play, uh, like on real courses. Yeah, that’s the gist of it. If you want to get one now with 41% off, It will cost you, I mean, everything in golf is expensive, isn’t it?
Chris [00:27:52]:
Yeah.
Sam [00:27:52]:
$1,700 New Zealand dollars.
Chris [00:27:55]:
Jeez.
Sam [00:27:56]:
Super early bird.
Chris [00:27:58]:
Um, so how far through are we with this one?
Sam [00:28:01]:
Uh, great, great question. I’m sorry, I just got stuck because that first one gives you 15 months of the premium AI, but there’s no subscription, but if you want the premium, so there is already an up sell on this thing, which may, which may, which may be obsolete by the time you get it anyway. So anyway, uh, 23 days to go, $8,800 New Zealand dollars to bring this to market. So pretty early on or halfway through.
Chris [00:28:32]:
So if we sell 3 of them, we’re good. Um, 4 of them, whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Um, 23 days to go, halfway through. They have so much money, these golf people.
Sam [00:28:45]:
Yeah, they do. Yeah, they do.
Chris [00:28:47]:
Yeah, I’m going to go with the same guess, half a mil.
Sam [00:28:51]:
No, you’re wrong. $919,000.
Chris [00:28:55]:
I should have said it’s double the price. It’s double the amount. Yeah, no, that’s— I have, I Just would not spend that on that. Um, but then people who really live and die by their, um, by their, what do you call it? By that stuff, they’re absolutely going to do it. Sounds like filming away. So
Sam [00:29:21]:
no, I’m, I’m fully present. We had someone talking to us about filming and now I’ve made a film. Hey, we’re having a great time here.
Chris [00:29:33]:
Yeah, no, it’s good.
Sam [00:29:34]:
This brings us to the end of the podcast. You’re not going to try and shoehorn in another story. We’ve gone over the limit.
Chris [00:29:40]:
Okay. All
Sam [00:29:41]:
right.
Chris [00:29:42]:
Fine.
Sam [00:29:43]:
TCast.com is where you can find us on the internet. We’ve got links to everything. We’ve got show notes from the last 14 years. We’re always updating those at the moment. We also have a get your free certificate to prove that you are a listener. And leave us an audio note. I didn’t check this week, so there might be an extra one in there.
Chris [00:30:01]:
Yeah. Okay. That’s cool. Um, and yeah, otherwise, um, do, do engage with us on social media or whatever and tell us where you’re—
Sam [00:30:09]:
One of us will see it.
Chris [00:30:10]:
Yeah. One of us, not me, will see it. And, uh, yeah.
Sam [00:30:14]:
Until next time, I’m Sam.
Chris [00:30:15]:
I’m Chris.
Sam [00:30:16]:
See ya.
Chris [00:30:16]:
Bye.
